Recent project won't list my most recent

When I close FCP and reopen it the most recent project won't open. I just reinstalled FCP 6.
Also the window arrangement defaults to the basic setting each time I close.

User Preferences > General > "Open last project on application launch"
You can turn this off and on as you wish.
What arrangement are you using when you quit the app?  Is it one you've saved as a cutom layout?  Are you doing anything that may be trashing your FCP preference files, such as Preference Manager, any antivirus, or any other system utilities?

  • IPhoto won't open after most recent automatic update

    Hello,
After my most recent software update, iPhoto will not open. I click on the icon on the desktop (Macbook Pro) and nothing happens. Mac OS X (10.6.8) is my operating system.
Any help will be appreciated. I am worried I have lost all of my photos.
    Sincerely,
    Megan.

If you control-click on your iPhoto Library and select "Show Package Contents" there should be a folder in there named "Masters" - it should have all of your his-res photos in it.
Not certain why you're having problems just opening iPhoto - you may want to take your question to the iPhoto forum - where all of the iPhoto experts hang out.

  • IPhoto won't open after most recent system software update

I have just installed the most recent system software update for iPhoto and now iPhoto will not open. I get an error message - see attached screen shot - and I have tried cmd + alt to get the option to rebuild which just re-opens the error report again. Really need help as can't afford to lose all my photo's!

Some people have fixed that by redownloading the 10.7.4 update and rerunning it.
    Others have reinstalled the OS

  • Open Recent for V5.5 Not Showing Most Recent

After upgrading to Pages 5.5, the Open Recent list of documents is buggy - sometimes after saving a document, the list of recent documents is updated and sometimes not. Before upgrading to Yosemite and version 5.5 of Pages, this feature worked.
Clearing the menu has not resolved this issue. Changing the Recent Items number in System Preference has not resolved this issue.
I tried to report this issue using the Apple feedback link, but the dropdown menu for version number only went up to V 5.2.
Any suggestions? Anyone else having this issue?

Any pattern? Are they the most recently created or modified? Anything in common about how they are named, or in the +dot plus three+ extensions? Are you still seeing the older version of files on the Mac compared to directly in Windows.
I've not used Windows 7 so I'm not familiar with any sharing filters that are possible. If you are still seeing older versions of files, and the ones you don't see on the Mac happen to be the most recently added to the folder, it still feels to me like you are actually connecting to a different sharepoint than what you believe... maybe one that is in an backup archive or something.
Sorry I can't be any more helpful. It's a bit mysterious.

  • ITunes won't launch after most recent upgrade

    Hello,
I recently installed the iTunes upgrade that appeared on my Software Update application. However, now iTunes will not launch, meaning that when I try to open the application, the icon in the dock bounces once and then nothing further happens. I have tried downloading iTunes directly from the Apple website, but the behavior is exactly the same. What do I have to do to get iTunes to work again?
(BTW, I'm glad to see that the updates are new and improved...)
    Thanks,
    Adrian

    Hi Adrian,
Just out of curiosity, what happens if you open iTunes from within the Applications folder instead of from the Dock? Does the same thing happen?

  • My itunes won't open after most recent update

I dont know what to do!  I have tried restarting nd reinstaling itunes but it still wont open

I have the same issue.  Yesterday I allowed Window 7 64 bit to download a couple of updates and and service pack for Office 2010.  I have a new iPad 2 which I had not synced yet (we have multiple user accts set up on system and sync 2 iphone 4s and an Ipad 1st gen with no issue prior to this).  I opened iTunes and it indicated new version 10.4 was available so I updated it also.  After these updates my system became mush.  After attempting to start iTunes, the itunes.exe process loads but it sits there and hogs up memory and CPU.  I can come back to computer 10 min later and maybe it eventually opens but is very slow and eventually hangs up.  I then have issues on trying to kill the iTunes process in task manager.  Haven't even gotten close to syncing the new iPad 2.  I checked firewall settings, other services, tried running in other compatibility modes, and then checked on this forum for detailed instructions on the best way to uninstall all of the apple programs in specific order and then reinstall.  Nothing works.  So basically I have an $829 apple tablet that is 50% useless becasue I can't even sync it with my music, movies, and books.
I have attempted to go back to version 10.3 with no luck either.  I am close to just returning my iPad 2.  My next attempt will be to do a system restore prior to the Windows 7 updates that I installed and then try installing iTunes 10.4 first before the windows updates to see if there is some connection.  I have read many posts on here where apparently many people are having issues with v10.4, especially on Win 7 64 bit systems, but it seems that Apple really hasn't addressed anything with this.  I would just like to get it working and sync the new iPad.  Anyone have any other suggestions?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Most Recent Used File List in Menus

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to create List of most recent used files and display it in the main menu?
    Has anyone done that?
Currently, I am opening one file at the time and I have the last
    path of opened file.
    thanx !

Offhand, you'll have to do it the hard way. I don't think Swing or Awt provide a default JMenuItem(), MenuItem() that does the file list. Now that you mention it, it does seem like an interesting project to do.
You essentially need an array of the files, and for each file, create the associated menu entry, as in:
    String entryName = files[ i ];
    if ( entryName.length > 10 ) {
       entryName = entryName.subString( 0, 10 );
    JMenuItem entry = new JMenuItem( i + ". " + entryName );
...and define the event listeners however appropriate for your application.

  • IPhoto error, won't open, says it needs the most recent version

I have an early 2009 mac pro desktop with 6 megs of ram. iPhoto error, won't open, says it needs the most recent version to work but the most recent version won't work either because I have Mountain Lion. I downloaded iPhoto from the App store and the store said "you can't download the most recent version because you don't have Mavericks - would you like to download an older version?" So I said yes and downloaded it. It is actually the Mavericks version that downloads anyway. So I used an older version from my other computer and updated it to version 9.4.3. When I try to open it it says you need the most recent version. My library is on an external drive which was downgraded from Mavericks back to Mountain Lion because Mavericks wouldn't work properly on my computer. Now no version will open.
What can I do? Thank you for your help in advance.

    The exact error message is:
THe library "iPhoto Library" cannot be opened. To open it, you must upgrade to the latest version of iPhoto. Then the Quit button is at the bottom of the dialog box.
I did install iPhoto 9.5 when I installed Mavericks, Keep in mind that all of my photos are not on the boot drive but they are on an external drive. I then got rid of Mavericks and did a fresh install of Mountain Lion then I copied the contents of a previous drive that only had Mountain Lion on it. 9.5 wouldn't open in Mountain Lion so I copied an older version from another computer and updated it to 9.4.3. 9.4.3 says you must upgrade to the latest version and 9.5 says you need an older version. So I am stuck now.

    Has anyone done that?
Currently, I am opening one file at the time and I have the last

You could recurse over the file system, creating a bunch of File objects, which you'd stick into a List. Then create a comparator that sorts the objects by File.lastModified() value, descending.
Then you'd have a sorted list, from which you could easily take the N most recent files.
Of course, the recursing would take a while. You may want to put creation and/or updating of this list, into a low priority thread.

  • Get most recent backup completed within last week

Hi.  I need your help with this...
I want to get a list of the most recent .bak files created in the last week.  I need to select [database_name] and [backup_finish_date] from msdb..backupset and [physical_device_name] from msdb..backupmediafamily tables. So if any database was backed
up AT LEAST ONCE in the last week, I want to list the most recent .bak file for that database.  If the most recent backup was more than a week old, I'm assuming it isn't being backed up on a regular basis, and I exclude it from the list.  I
think this requires a join of backupset and backupmediamedia tables, and use of MAX function to get the latest file, but I can't put it together.
    Thanks!

    Try
    WITH cte
    AS (
    SELECT T1.NAME AS DatabaseName
    ,T2.backup_finish_date AS BackupDate
    ,T2.user_name AS UserName
    ,MF.physical_device_name
    ,RANK() OVER (
PARTITION BY T1.NAME ORDER BY T2.backup_finish_date DESC
    ) AS Rn
    FROM sys.databases T1
    JOIN msdb.dbo.backupset T2
    JOIN msdb.dbo.backupmediafamily MF ON T2.media_set_id = MF.media_set_id ON T2.database_name = T1.NAME WHERE T2.backup_finish_date >= dateadd(week, - 1, CURRENT_TIMESTAMP)
    SELECT *
    FROM cte
    WHERE rn = 1

  • Why does my account history not include my most recent product purchase?

I purchased and downloaded Photoshop Elements within the past year or so - upgraded from an earlier version, though I can't recall which version I have.  In any case, my system crashed and I went online to find my most recent purchase/upgrade.  However, the most recent purchase is from 2009, and I know I have a more recent purchase.  Where could the more recent purchase be, and how do I access it for redownloading.  Adobe won't give me the option of downloading even the older version.

Asf999 which Adobe software specifically are you looking for?  I would recommend contacting our support team if you believe a download is missing.

  • Would like a 'Most Recent Docs' folder - like in Windows

    Hi,
I would like to have a view of my most recent documents that doesn't require opening a new Finder window in order to see them. Ideally, I would like to add this folder to the dock. I'm assuming this would be done w/ a Smart Folder.
When I click and hold over the folder in the dock, I'd like the pop-up to show a list of most recently modified documents, just like any other folder behaves when attached to the dock.
    Is this possible?
I'm assuming that Smart Folders are the way to go here but when I attach it to the dock and mouse-down, I only get a pop-up w/ remove, open, show options.
    Thanks,
    T

And there's also a Favorites folder you can use - /Home/Library/Favorites/. Learn more about it by selecting Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and searching for 'favorite.' Second article is germane.

  • How can I get more than 5 items in my Recent Projects list?

After a rather horrendous incident with trying to do a series of videos all in one project using bins and shared media and a savefile that got *WAYYY* out of hand (20 minutes to load the file)- which I believe was tied to importing media from another .proj file, I have switched to a more modular approach with anywhere from 2-5 projects in each project and now a collection of around 15-25 projects on the go. Most of these are "work on a chapter, then change to another project while waiting for footage for another project" and several of them share pieces including multicam segments and sync'd audio.
Rather than importing from another project, I am using Control-C, switch to a different project file, then paste in. This isn't the most "Adobe Professional" style way of doing things, but considering that I lost several hours to trying to recover from the last project, even when I only needed to spend 20 minutes pumping out a rough cut, I'm not going back to that method until my next computer upgrade and until I begrudgingly switch to CC in around 1-1.5 year's time.
So the issue that I'm faced with is that I'm often using the Open Recent Project flyout and having 5 projects on that list is just not enough to be remotely useful.
In MS Office, the list is quite long and even in photoshop, I can get 10. That's enough for my Photoshop, but I switch projects using the Recent Projects list in Premiere a LOT more often. I could just use my explorer windows to jump around, but given that I have 5-6 explorer windows open per project most of which are folders crammed with footage, PSD stills and peak files, plus other non-video things I'm working on right now, that's really not the simplest way to navigate at a glance.
How can I get 10, 20 or 25 items in that flyout list instead of mucking about with 5?
I run Adobe Production Premium CS6.

I see a lot of people not reading the circumstances of what I said.
I did mention that currently I use the "explorer" method and it's kind of clumsy. Although I liked the idea of using shortcuts. I had thought about moving the files, but didn't think about shortcuts... considering everything on my desktop is a shortcut, I'm really not sure why I didn't think of that.
But I did mention that I almost always have anywhere from 12-15 windows open at any given time in my explorer. I am involved with management of 4 different companies right now, two of which are in startup mode. Videos are important for me, but not my only duty. These windows only go down when I shut down my computer, which happens on average once every 4 months. It is not a problem on a reasonably capable system.
Still, for a project of currently 23 files (just got increased to 28 and expected to rise to 32-35), and because I have had project files go sour on me, I keep some hierarchy and because I don't have 100% creative control over all my projects, I also occasionally have to do re-overs ie when a specific style of writ is nixed by a boss or customer. Those 23 project files also have version iterations.
So navigating 'at a glance' through a file explorer isn't always the most practical.
In the end, I'll probably try to find some time to re-organize my file structure using shortcuts.
Still, given the number of 'recent files' can be modified or is larger than 5 in: Windows Start Menu, Recent documents, Adobe PDF recent documents, Adobe Photoshop, All Office suite programs...
It's just weird that there's only 5 for a program intended for the kind of people that work on projects somewhat larger in scope than "hey, we took the dog to the park the other day".
@Jerry Klaimon - not sure what version of Premiere you're using, I'm using CS6 with Production Premium CS6. Recent files only shows 5. Photoshop shows 9. For my current workload, I'd probably want 10-12 and it would be nice if they could go to 20 or more IMHO. Look at History states. History states default to 20. I usually set this to 35 whenever I set up any user's computer. It's easy to choose what suits me from the preferences menu. I don't see why they wouldn't have the same idea for 'recent files'
@anyone who thinks I'm stupid - please feel free to insult me. A forum scuffle is often a great way to get the attention of moderators who might be in a position to pass this idea on to someone who could do something about it. I'm also anal, stubborn, holier-than-thou and not-as-smart-as-i-think-i-am if you want some ideas to get started .
@Steven Gotz - you are quite correct that asking is important. Probably a smarter thing to do before pestering the devs with feature requests is to thoroughly check to see if it is in fact already existing. Adobe products are famous for having features that nobody knows about. Most of the questions I have that Google or Lynda.com didn't answer have been answered here in the forums. Then once I've seen that a few hundred pairs of eyes sharper than mine have also come up with nothing, then perhaps it might be worthwhile sending in a feature request. In this case, I will probably toss a feature request in later, but I'll probably just use your idea of keeping a master project folder with shortcuts.
@MarkMapes - I do not have a problem loading files. Project files load just fine for me. But I have one project file that has a problem that loads a HUGE amount of RAM and takes nearly 20 minutes to open. It even takes almost 8 minutes to close it. It was acting as my master file with everything nested in sequences and I needed to spend a whole afternoon to pull those sequences out using copy-paste because bringing them in via Import Sequence brought the problem into the new file. I would file that under "glitched save files" rather than "slow loading".
@Jon-M-Spear - good idea too - although I did cringe a bit at the suggestion of putting things on the desktop. I have bad habits and I work very hard to try to make other people who have worse habits in this company to try to get them to not keep anything on the desktop. In fact, it's probably my favorite thing about Windows 7 that you can have a clear or nearly totally clear desktop.
    Thanks for your comments folks.
