Recent software updates causes blue screen

I installed Leopard last week and it's been working just fine.
Last night the software update application upadted 5 apps - iTunes, Quicktime, Keychain, and a couple others I can't remember. Since the update I havn't been able to login and use my system - when it starts up it eventually stalls at a blue screen.
I've read reports of people having this issue after upgrading to Leopard, but like I said, I upgraded to Leopard just fine and have been using it for over a week.
I just discussed this with a support agent who suggested I try another archive & install - I'll post the results.
In the meantime, has anyone else run into this?
Also, would Audio Hijack's Instant Hijack (Rogue Amoeba software) and Little Snitch be considered "extensions" that might lead to this issue?

As it turns out, I had an Application enhancer I didn't even know about. I must have installed it a long time ago, tried it, lost interest, and forgot about it.

Hello, I need some help...
I Updated my Macbook Pro with the reqular Mac software update (includes quicktime, itunes and a couple others) I was given the option to "shut down" or "restart"...
I clicked "shut down".
My computer then proceeded not to turn off but simply turn to a blue screen...
After some time I turned off my machine and restarted it...
It took a little longer time to start up as it usually does after a software update...
But after going through the main white screen with the apple, then moving through to the next screen that has the loading bar. that loading bar window comes up for a split second and then disappears leaving a blue screen with the cursor and then does nothing more...
I am stuck with a blue screen and a curser...
I have already tried to start up in safemode...
Any help would be much appreciated

Very astute question, for Tiger on Intel you must use the exact install disk for that Model, Gray in color for one thing.
One thing to try other than a Safe Boot...
Tough without the Install disc, but some things to try...
Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...
/sbin/fsck -fy
Repeat until it shows no errors fixed.
(Space between fsck AND -fy important).
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck...

To use fsck, you must run it from the command line. Unlike using your mouse to open an application to do something, you'll need to type a text command at the prompt (#) to tell fsck what to do. Software update Causes Black Screen

Hello,
I just did a software update for my macbook pro and not only do I now have a black screen, the macbook pro does not show up in my wireless network so even though the apple chime sounded, I don't even know if the macbook pro is even online or up and running.
My Apple Care ran out in April and if I have to I'll bring it to the Genius bar but I don't have a car and getting there is hard so if it's something simple that other people have dealt with maybe someone can help me from the community? I really really hope I don't have to buy a new macbook pro and if it turns out that the update ruined my laptop I will be enraged,

If you just ran the 2011-005 security update AND you frequently use Time Capsule for backups, I would recommend restoring to a point in time PRIOR to applying the security update. It has caused many issues [freezing the system, blue flickering screen, not getting to login screen, spinning beachball, grey screen with dim apple logo with spinning indicator, not allowing login, slowing down the system, etc.] for me and others in the support community.
The my Macbook Pro has been at the Genius bar for three days. They won't acknowledge that an update from Apple could cause the issues, but after looking at recent entries for "2011-005" or "can't login" you can see that there are problems.
Currently, my laptop has been supposedly having the OS completely reinstalled. This should have taken a few hours but it is going on day 3 at the Apple store.
So, short story is to go back in time, if possible for you [Time Capsule option]

Software updates causes black screen on macbook

The laptop is an Apple Unibody MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo, processor - 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Memory - 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3. OSX 10.9.1 Maverick.
The Macbook prompts software updates in which the macbook is supposed to restart after the software installs. I’ve received this ‘Install software’ prompt twice since I’ve had this macbook, purchased 12/16/13 delivered 12/20/13.
After each software update the macbook doesn’t restart, there’s just a black screen, but the power light is on. I’ve had to zap the pram in order to get the computer to work. The latest incident happened after the macbook prompted a Firmware update. The Firmware software installed (I thought) then there was an odd, high-pitched squeak sound and the screen went black, same as the last time. I once again tried zapping the pram, but this time I had to try it 3 times before the computer came back on.
When I check the software updates, under the title “Updates Installed in the Last 30 Days” it indicates that the Firmware did actually install on the date of the last black screen incident (Dec. 30th), BUT above the titled window “Updates installed in the Last 30 Days” is another window titled “1 Update Available” and that window contains the 2 firmwares that supposedly installed on Dec. 30th - SMC Firmware and EFI firmware. If these 2 firmwares supposedly installed on Dec.30th, why does it show that they are still available for download. I have to assume that they didn’t actually install, and that I going to have to hit the ‘update’ button to install them, but I just know that I’m going to get that black screen again. Does anyone have an answer to this problem.
I should also add that I've only used this macbook with the power cord, but the battery is losing power, it's now at 96%, from 99% when I first got the macbook.

Lion has been causing a lot of problems on older hardware, it killed a 4 year old 15" MBP on me.
Go back to 10.6, the stability of your business comes first.

BIOS Update causes Blue Screen of Death - PLEASE HELP

PLEASE HELP!!
After recently reformatting a Lenovo 3000 N200 (XP SP3), I downloaded the Lenovo Care (or whatever it's called), which downloaded a whole lot of updates, drivers....
The last thing that was downloaded was a BIOS Update. Before flashing and reprogramming the BIOS, the program created a backup of the old BIOS.
Since the BIOS Update, I can no longer turn on the laptop without the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). When I try to turn it on, it shows the Lenovo startup screen, then goes to the "previous attempt was interrupted" menu (the menu where you can choose 'Safe Mode'...), and no matter which option I choose, it starts to show the XP startup screen (with the progress bar), for 1/2 a second, then displays the BSOD for 1/2 a second (too fast too even read what it says or even get the error code).
What can I do to remedy the situation? Can I somehow access the backup of the old BIOS to restore it? Or is there something else I can do?
BTW, When I click F1 on the Lenovo startup screen (to get into the BIOS settings) it shows the BIOS version to be "68ET35WW (V3.03) - which is apparently the latest version for that laptop

If you have restored the device as new and tested it without using your backup and it is still malfunctioning, then you need to make an appointment with the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service provider, depending on your location, and have the hardware checked.

Everytime an update happens, I get blue screen crashes, the system restores to an earlier point but then wants to do the updates again?

BB Desktop Software causes Blue Screen at Windows XP

Hi,
I'm using BB Desktop Software 6.1.0.35 at Windows XP over Lenovo X201 laptop. When I try to sync the adressbook or calendar between my BB(Storm II 9520) and my laptop, it often causes blue screen at my laptop.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall the desktop software but the blue screen occures again. But, the same version of Desktop Software at Windows VISTA over HP pavillion Desktop doesn't cause similar problem.
Please kindly let me know how can I fix it or please check if there are any defects at your Desktop Software.

Just unisntall this version and install the desktop version 5.1. That will not give you blue screen infact it is fully compatible with xp

Well I am having the same issue and I had not had to worry about getting a "licensed charger." The poster who responded offered not real insite and was rude to boot. I had the same problem. Here is what worked for me. Open the mail app and delete your exchange account (Settings > Delete Account). Then re-add your Exchange account. After this my Exchange contacts showed up again.

Following the recent software update I cannot now view photos on websites, eg when on estate agent sites, when I rap to enlarge the photos, a blank screen is shown.

Following the recent software update, I now can't open photos from websites such as photos on estate agent websites. When tapped to show enlarged, or switch between images a blank screen appears. Before update no problem. This is the same on my ipad and an ipad mini. Assume there is a setting, but can't find it!

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without be charged again. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

I have spent days trying to fix this, i have been onto Epsons website & followed their resolution for this error message to no avail, after contacting them again with the results i got an email back saying : In response to your email, the RX640 will use an inbox or gutenprint driver on Mac OS X 10.6.8, it is not compatible with an Epson driver.
I have also tried re-installing drivers from original Discs for the printer but it still will not print, obviously this error has been caused by Apple's latest software update, when are Apple going to fix this problem? i need my printer working ASAP.

It is hardly Apple's fault that Epson can't/won't update their driver, but at least Epson suggest that you use the Gutenprint driver, which in any case is far better that what Epson offer.

Skype video crashes my GPU driver and causes blue screen.

Hello,
Installed a new copy of windows and got the latest version of skype for my PC (on wich skype worked just fine, video calls, voice calls, but it was an older version. No hardware changes)
With the new skype, I , for the least, get driver crashes, and for the most, a blue screen, when I just go to options to set up my webcam.As soon as I see the square "loading" my webcam in the options, everything freezes and I get a driver crash or a blue screen.
Current specs:
i5 4440, stock clocks
2x8gb 1333 ddr3 1.5v ram, stock
R7 260x, stock
500w PSU, not the best quality, But I also tried a 1000w platinum PSU, and same resaults.
last error code I remeber from the blue screen was: 0x00000116
I know it is related to the GPU, but it doesn't have power deficiency, since I manage to run heavy games just fine.By the way, my webcam works just fine on different web sites, so it's not the webcam.
What I tried:
-Degrading to the oldest supported version by skype
-Degrading video drivers
-Using different webcams
-Installed all windows 7 64 bit updates

I would suggest uninstalling Droidcam as it could be the source of some delays assisting in causing the problem. TDR problems occur when your videocard is unable to respond in 2 seconds for a variety of reasons (heat, tweaks), forcefully resetting the card. Some people increase this delay in their registry from 2 to up to 10 seconds to give the card time to catch up so that a reset doesn't occur. Schannel errors - appears to be causing blue screens

Hi guys
Every once in a while (a few times a month) our RDS server (server 200r82 hyper-v VM) decides to blue screen and restart.
Each and every time it crashes, we notice hundreds and hundreds of schannel errors appearing just before the crash (event ID 36888)
Well, it did it again this afternoon, and over the last 12 hours we noticed 1008 instances of this error, with 60 odd messages appearing within 0.2 seconds of each other, and 2 minutes before the crash.
I also noticed that just before the crash, there were a handful of services which hung seconds before the logged unexpected shutdown event. These services are as follows.
- UmRDPService
- WPDBusEnum
- UxSMS
- Audio Endpoint Builder
After the crash, it doesnt log any Schannel errors. although, saying this now and just checking again, it looks like its logged 127 instances of the same schannel error, starting from after around 2 hours of bringing the server back online.
Do these Schannel errors cause blue screens/crashes? Or is it something else I should be looking at... I'm at a loss, as there's not a lot more in the way of logs that seem to be telling me what's going on..

A really recent MacBook Pro would be running Lion, Mac OS 10.7, and the most recent update is 10.7.3. The delta update from 10.7.2 was found to cause problems and rather than fix them, the update was pulled and Lion users were directed to the "combo" updater which contained all the code necessary to update any Mac running Lion from any previous version of Lion, which is a lot of code, hence the very big download. BTW, 10.7.3 has been problematic for some software so it would be wise to explore the comments and complaints in the Lion forum before you update since you can't go back if you change your mind without having a good backup. Also BTW, this forum is for the Mac Pro; you have a MacBook Pro, which has its own forum and can probably provide you with more useful information.

to take the recurring message at its word, the cause of insufficient application memory is that a particular app requires more free RAM than is currently available, and the remedy would be providing it with more free RAM, either by closing other opened apps or by upgrading the amount of RAM in your MacBook Pro.
