Recent update issue (Kerberos, libtirpc)

Hello,
i recently updated: libtirpc (0.2.3-2 -> 0.2.4-1) (at least that is the only package that makes sense.
Now whenever I try to mount a kerberos share the rpc-gssd service crashes.

I still get a valid kerberos ticket. Can I only downgrade? I do not have the old package so ho could I downgrade?

Thanks about the Arch Rollback Machine. That helped immensly. After The downgrade everything works again.

  • [SOLVED]Boot hang after recent updating issues

I am having issues after the last update. First, I made a mistake of holding back the filesystem package. Because of this (at least I think so) I was having an error that said it could not boot because at boot it said "/sbin/init does not exist". I solved this by upgrading the filesystem package by chrooting from a live arch usb. Now I am having an issue where my system hangs at boot, I believe it is right after systemd runs fsck although I might be wrong. But after maybe 5 minutes it just starts as usual... my ususal boot time is less than a minute. What should I do?
This is from a thread i accidentally hijacked:
    cfr wrote:
Try systemctl --failed and or examine the journal for clues.
Post fstab. Are all of the disks referred to there available when you boot? If systemd can't find them, it will basically wait until it times out and I think that's about 5 minutes and then it will continue booting (assuming it isn't missing anything critical, of course).
    My fstab:
    # /etc/fstab: static file system information
    # <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
    # /dev/sda6
    UUID=5dc84b70-a9f9-42eb-981c-40e84f7e9e75 / ext4 rw,relatime,data=ordered 0 1

    # /dev/sda7
    UUID=07dcd099-50c4-4c35-a102-10a39b74ac0b none swap defaults 0 0
Would deleting the second /dev/sda6 fix it?

Thanks jasonwryan So my exact boot time was 1 minute and 34.151 seconds (which is not unbearable but like i said it used to be in a matter of seconds)... The kernel took  2.790 seconds and userspace took 1 minute and 31.361 Output of systemd-analyze blame :

  • Recent Updating Issues

I'm currently running Tiger on my G3 ibook and last night I was alerted that there was software updates available. I don't remember exactly which ones, but I believe it was iTunes, Safari and possible mail and address book. I know it wasn't a Security update because since I had a similar problem to this one a couple of years ago, I always check these forums for conflicts before I let one near my system again.
Anyway, after it was finished and restarted, it hung on the blue screen right before my desktop loads for a half hour. I figured I would give it a bit more extra time since it always slows down right after I reboot after an update but that was a bit much. I forced it to shut down and booted it up again. Problem kept happening. Safe mode didn't work, so I went into Single User Mode. Everything checked out fine. Booted up again, it hung again.
So then I booted from an external drive. Everything checked out fine again after using Disk Utility to both verify/repair the disk and repair permissions. It told me nothing was wrong. But again it hung at that blue screen when I rebooted. Finally I booted from the install disk and just reinstalled the system.
Everything is working fine (well, as fine as it was on this old machine at any rate) but I was curious to know if anyone else was having this problem and what I should specifically avoid downloading when I update this time. Thanks!

I should note that I've routinely updated my Quicksilver G4 with the same updates and haven't had any problems at all. But this is where I'm at:
I narrowed down the conflicts down to:
SecUpd2009-002PPC (which was installed at the time already when I made my last update)
JavaForMacOSX10.4Release9 (which was definitely the new kid on the block stirring trouble if not being the cause of it)
This last time I installed all the Java updates until 7 without a problem without installing the security update. After I installed Release 8, it hung a little bit more but eventually it booted correctly.
Then, knowing that Release 9 was the newest, I installed the Security Update. I didn't have the exact problem as before, it now hung at the loading Os X screen rather than the blue screen that follows right before the desktop.
So I rebooted and used applejack to do a deep clean. When it got to the point of having to verify permissions, the disk error showed up about three times but then it continued on it's way and everything loaded fine.
This morning when I started up, my iBook decided it would be more fun to switch to Darwin rather than load my desktop. Not knowing all that much unix (though I think I should probably learn now) I was a teeny bit stumped. So after looking at all the great commands I could use via the help option and still not getting anywhere, I forced a reboot and went to single user mode, running a deep clean of applejack again.
And it restarted fine. I rebooted to make sure and it was fine. So I don't know exactly what is going on still. I backed up fairly recently so I'm not concerned with data loss, but I think it's time I just upgrade.

  • ITunes Recent Update issues

    Hi,
Since updating iTunes to 10.6, iTunes now quits whenever my iPhone 4 is plugged in.  I get an "iTunes is checking your library" message, then 'Itunes has unexpectedly quit".
    Any ideas?
I'm running a Mac Book Pro, OS 10.7.3
    Thanks

What does the error message say? (Precise text, please.)

  • Recent update issues

since the update the phone freezes while im on my headset, i cant open my apps, this screen is ugly.i was getting a new phone but this makes me want one today. how can this be fixed..if its resetting the phone to factory, can i back up my text to my cloud that opens SLOWLY ?

I would use Backup SMS app from the play store to back up texts to the phone or cloud or email or PC.  Messaging can be very very slow if you have more than 500 total messages.  Deleting those, or backing the up first then deleting can help exponentially with speed.

    1. System Preferences > Flash Player > Advanced > Delete All
Press “Delete All” button under “Browsing Data and Settings”.
    2. Install Adobe Flash Player.

  • After the recent update I am having issues with Flash based games freezing and not responding.

After the recent update I am having issues with flash based programs not running or loading correctly.  The programs will not load or take an extremely long time to load compared to jsut a few days ago.  This happens across the board on anything flash based.  Also, once they do load they will freeze, stop responding or need to be constantly refreshed to come back alive which is short lived at best.  I went thru the help and did all the file deleting, cache clearing, disabling hardware acceleration, removing then reinstalling flash, and even removing and reinstalling my browsers.  None of this has helped at all.  I am using Chrome and it is up to date and I checked my Flash player and it is up to date.  I am running windows 7 64bit.

Here's what you're up against guys,
Adobe writes the base code for Flash Player, and then hands it off to Google, who adapt it to a PPAPI plug-in (it's NPAPI when Adobe writes it). It's then "PepperFlash" and Google embeds it in their Chrome browser. While Google is pushing a "webwide" move to PPAPI Flash Content, a reinvention of the wheel so to speak, not everyone "got the memo", and Google is slowly making it so that PepperFlash will block NPAPI Flash content from running properly, and you have to disable PepperFlash to force the NPAPI plug-in to work, which sometimes fixes it, sometimes not. I have a feeling this is only going to get worse. HTML5 will eventually resolve the video end but game developers need to come up with something that won't require a plug-in.
And to the first post:  Since PepperFlash is embedded in Chrome by Google, you can uninstall and reinstall Flash Player from here until your hard drive literally seizes up.... guess what? It has NO EFFECT at all on the PepperFlash plug-in in Chrome because it's a separate file in a separate folder and the uninstaller & installers don't have anything to do with it.

    Madmonkey,
First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
    Gaylefromnewhope,
Seems like you tried this all ready and it didn't help.
Next might be to reset all settings.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings
Note that when you do this you will not lose data but you will have to enter all passwords again.
If that doesn't help you might tries a restore of your iPad using iTunes on the computer you normall sync with. Do a backup and save all data first. Or
Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • Since the recent update my email account has been affected. I have over 2,000 emails now reflecting on my phone. Is this a glitch that is being worked on? I have heard the same issue from several other iPhone users.

Since the recent update to the iPhone I have over 2000 emails showing up in my inbox. I have tried to delete the emails which are new emails that are coming in but also there are now old emails that have reappeared. I have discussed this with several other iPhone users that have updated their phones and they are experiencing the same issue. How has this happened and can it be resolved in the simplest way possible?

  • Major Flash issues after most recent update

I recently updated to 12.0.0.70 version of Shockwave flash on FF 27.1 and it has busted my FF installation. I get various errors depending on which site I try to use. Some sites give me a black screen with white fuzz and state "an error has occurred please try again later." On other sites I get a Shockwave script error message and when I click the dialog button to stop FF crashes to desktop
Disabling ad-ons and running in safe mode did nothing, as well as cleaning profile. I then turned FF Protected mode off using the instructions on the Adobe site. That was a partial fix. It prevents me from getting the Shockwave script errors. However, Flash video play out of sync. It skips around randomly and and sound does not sync with the video. I still get the "an error has occurred please try again later" on they sites where I was getting that error before.
Per one suggestion on another thread I toyed with the Hardware acceleration feature. It did not fix the problem. I am at a loss as to how to proceed further.

    Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems?esab=a&s=troubleshooting&r=3&as=s#w_5-reinstall-firefox here].
<b>WARNING:</b> Do not run Firefox's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Firefox data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u>
Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.
You might also want to try a full RESET by following steps below. Only do these steps if the above fails.
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. <br>
'''Note''': ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.''
*Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.
    Hope this helps!

Yes 7.1.2  I had a 7.1 backup, and no issues with that... but then I did a clean DL of 7.1.2 and once again with NO apps on the iphone power button issues... as mentioned.  So it is not the apps, nor songs, nor anything else...just 7.1.2  I am now running 7.1  no issues.

I have recently updated my ipad mini to iOS 7. My Apple ID works for everything apart from iMessage and FaceTime. When I sign in, it says check your network connectivity and try agin. I have tried several times. Why is this happening? What can I do to resolve this issue?

I am having this problem.  At first with the new iPhone 5, and then with the iPad 2.  I am not sure why this is happening.
My gut feeling is this is an iO6 issue and here's why -
The problem mainly occurs with apps.  I have about 150 apps, and when I plugged in the phone, iTunes went to sync all of them.  The process would hang up after about 20 - 30 apps were loaded onto the phone. I could tell where about the process hung up because the apps on the phone showed up as "waiting".
Then on the iPad 2 I plugged in to sync and saw there was a huge "Other" component in my storage.  It required me to restore the iPad 2 from backup.  With this restore the same issues occurred - putting the apps back on the iPad would hang up.  The videos on the iPad also got stuck - maybe after about 10 hours of videos transfered iTunes crashed.
My solution has been to soft reset the device, restart Windows, and continue the process until it's complete.  This is remarkably inefficient and time-intensive but everything works with patience.
I have been wondering if others have had these same problems.
