Recent water damage, please help...

I recently dropped my ipod touch into water and now am trying desperately to find a way to get it to work. I let it sit in rice for about a day, but here is what's going on. When I press the home button a screen comes up with a pic of a USB cord and itunes at the end. When I connect it to my comp, itunes starts up and requires me to put in my passcode on my ipod to continue. I have no way of doing so. I cannot turn off my ipod either. I can tell how much battery life is left on it though. If anyone can think of a way to help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • IPhone 4 water damage - please help!

My iPhone 4S was dropped in a toilet with just toilet water for about a minute or less, it went completely black - I didn't have to turn it off. Now it is not turning on. It has been sitting in rice for about 8 hours. What do you think?

I think you would have been better off not trying to turn on the phone again for at least a few more days.  It's most certainly fried now.  But don't beat yourself up, even with putting the phone in dry rice or a dessicant for days, the chance of the phone working again are still negligible.  Not zero, but I doubt even in the double digits.
In any case, you can bring your phone, and $199 to Apple for an out of warranty replacement.
    Best,
    GDG

  • Install Failed - The Disk is damaged [Please Help]

Hi, i am new to mac stuff i just got my macbook everything works fine but whenever i try to install .pkg files it opens installing and prepares for install and when i click continue it keep says "install failed The disc is damage". am trying to install ps2 emulator i downloaded it from psx official website, it has all the files that mac would need to install but it do not install.. i  thought there might be something wrong with emulator so i downloaded another software and the problem remains same. it works fine with my another macbook so i guess there must be something wrong in OSX . Please help solving this issue.
i am running leopard 10.5.8 at 4GB RAM 160 HDD.

You need to try repairing the hard drive using Disk Utility.  If that does not work, you could try another tool, like DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro, but my personal advice would be to just erase the hard drive.  (Of course, you'll want to make sure your data is well backed-up first.)  If that doesn't work, your drive has failed and will need to be replaced.

  • Water damage- no help with this. made to feel like a criminal.

i recently (and stupidly) dropped my new iphone 3gs into the toilet bowl.(it was clean) i retreived in a second and dried it as fast as i could. i have now found that it still works apart from the camera which wont open the shutter. when i phoned apple for some advice all i got was "do you want to book a repair it will be 199 euros". if i cracked a light on my car i dont think my garage would say the same thing as they would probably go out of business. and before you say it i didnt take out the insurance as vodafone wanted 12.99 a month which is almost as much as i pay for my house insurance! i was in the proccess of looking for some cheaper options when the accident happened. seems that i`m in a bit of a quandry with this one. wish i`d of just bought the n900.

I assume you are in Europe since the replacement price was in Euros. Actually its a pretty good deal. Apple used to not offer any deals on water damaged phones. Then, I think about a year ago they changed their minds and offered a new phone at the regular pricing.
In the US, before this change, I think the replacement cost was $499 and now it's $199.
If you don't want to pay, you might try drying out your IP a while longer. Put it in a bag with several of those "moisture bags". I had a different kind of phone that got soaked and this worked although the phone didn't recover all features. The feature missing was the ability to turn it off.
If you do a search here, you will find you're not the only one to have dropped one in the toilet. I assume NO call is worth dragging my IP out of my pocket when I'm around a toilet, sink or any other kind of water.
If all you're missing is the camera function, I would say consider yourself lucky.

  • Water damage, need help, or suggestions.

Yeah, I was stupid enough not to check my jean pockets before throwing them in the washing machine. Now it's water damaged, and there's some water in the screen.
Is there a way I can revive it? My friends have had the same kind of damage, and they said that they had left their ipod collecting dust for a month or two before it started working again. Does it need to dry? Can I pry it open and make it dry faster? Is there a way I can send it in to get it checked out or replaced?
One more thing, I attpemted to pry it open, knowing that there are 3 metal pins on each side of the ipod instead of the dock end, is there a guide out there or video that can help me do this if I have to resort to this? I'm honestly trying to make this thing work, because I don't have enough money to buy another one. And I wont for a long while, considering that I'm turning 16 in a couple of weeks, and I'm looking for a job.

I shouldn't start trying to open it up - they're not designed for that and you might have a lot of difficulty getting it together again.
If you leave it for long enough in a warm-ish environment there is a fighting chance it will dry out and be OK. I should give it at least a week. I shouldn't take a hair-dryer to it

  • LR Mobile stopped syncing and still isn't syncing after recent updates! Please help!!

Running LR 5.6 on my iMac and LR Mobile on my iPad and iPhone.
The syncing worked for the most part... sometimes I had to delete the cache on my desktop to trigger syncing but nothing works to make the LR sync.
I have created new collections in LR on desktop and marked them to sync with LR Mobile, at the same time I stopped syncing some other collections... My Web and iPad collections have not updated. They show the collections for which the syncing was turned off in LR Desktop. I can't get it to sync. Please help. My perfect photo workflow is broken now.
And by the way, all my apps on iPhone and iPad are up to date.

Could you please send me a LR Desktop diagnostig log  - best as a private message with a downloadable dropbox link.
You can trigger the log via LR Desktop preferences -> Lightroom Mobile and when you hold down the alt key you will notice a generate diagnostic log button.
    Thanks

  • IPhone 4 Water Damage NEED HELP URGENTLY.

I dropped my phone in the toliet yesterday (I know, I'm not that smart... >.>) and I pulled it out as quickly as I could and dried it off with a towel.  At first, it didn't work that well, but after an hour or so it started to work fine, so I assummed it was okay.  When I tried to charge it, it would charge for a second or two, and then it would tell me that it didn't work with the charger.  Eventually, it wouldn't do anything when I plugged it in.  I tried plugging it into several outlets and my laptop and nothing worked.  I turned it off for the night, and this morning when I turned it on it was still working fine but it wouldn't charge.  It died, and whenever I try to turn it on it gives me the regular image that it does when there's no battery.  I keep trying to plug it in.  I can't pay for it to be fixed, and I need it to be fixed quickly.  I can't do the thing with the bag of rice because I need it fixed by tomorrow night.  I need a simple, quick way to fix it that doesn't cost anything and that I can do by myself (this is kind of secretive - long story).  I also cannot remove my case.  Please help.

There's no way that you can fix the issue. The components that charge the phone in the 30 pin dock are most likely fried, so the phone needs to be replaced. You could try to have it fixed at a place that repairs iphones, but i can't think of anything that you can do yourself to fix it

  • Emergency Water Spill- Please help!

I would appreciate any help on this, I am freaking out!
Today I spilt about a cup or less of water onto my 13 inch macbook pro keyboard.  I turned the computer upside down right away, and wiped up the excess water on the outside.  I didn't know if anything had actually gotten into the computer so I then (stupidly) tried to turn it on.  I then (also stupidly) thought maybe it wasn't charged so I put it in the charger for about 30 seconds.  The charger light stayed green.
The woman I contacted at the apple store instructed me to use a blow dryer on cool and just run it over the keyboard while it was upside down.  I did that for about 10 minutes.  It is now propped up so the keyboard is totally upside down.
Is there ANY chance my macbook will still be alive?? I have an apointment at the mac store late on saturday, but I would be so happy if someone told me there is hope for it to turn on again!!
    Thank you!

    Hi c,
    Yes, there's a chance.
It sounds like you have already come to realize this, but I should mention anyway, every time you load those wet circuits (try to boot, plug in power adapter, install battery if it's a removable one), decreases that chance. From the many people with spill issues we've tried to help, most of us here would agree that 48 hours or more, depending on the severity of the spill and other variables, is needed to dry out circuitry. • LCD Computer Damage: PLEASE HELP!!!

Hello, I bought a computer in October for my son, and I was wondering if I got a PSP or PRP on it. Also, does the PRP/PSP cover replacing the LCD screen on the laptop. By the way, it is a Gateway 15.6 inch.

There hasn't been psp or PRP plans available in a good 4 years. There are black tie protection plans that are service plans available on laptops. There is an accidental and non accidental version that can be purchased. You would either need to call 1888bestbuy and have them look it up or go to your local store or wait here for someone to look it up for you. Some types of damage are not covered but in general, plain old cracked screens are.

  • Is it possible that my iphone shows water damage, but never seen water?

I recently took my iphone to the apple store because it was freezing and stuff. i come to find out that my phone according to the guys from apple that my phone has water damage, my phone has never seen water. Please help.

For future reference, Apple does make quick judgment calls based on these indicators, but if you refuse their claim, they have to do a more thorough inspection - where they open up the phone and check internal water indicators. The ones in the charging and headphone ports can be triggered by a speck of rain or a humid bathroom, and cannot be used to disqualify you from warranty coverage.
If it has been water damaged, be honest with them - the internal indicators can disqualify warranty coverage, but more often than not if you're open and friendly with them, they'll help you out anyway.

  • Is it true if your ipod 4 is water damaged that if you make an apple appointment they can reboot it to a new ipod?

please help? I recently water damaged my ipod and I have everything on my ipod so many memories! please?!

That mean liquid contacted the iPod.
    Does iTunes see the iPod?
Is the info in either an iCloud or iTunes backup? If so then restore another iPod, iPhone or iPad from that backup.
If not in a backup your only hoe is a data recovery company.
