recently downloaded chris stapleton song and it won't play. what's up?

Delete the track from the iTunes library, allowing iTunes to move the track file to the Trash. Then download the track again from the iTunes Store via this procedure:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
That fixes the problem for many people. If problems with the track persist, go here:
iTunes Support
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.

I have exclamation points next to some of my songs and they won't play...how do I get them to play?

I am not an expert but here's my two cents:
The exclamation point means itunes cannot find the music file in order to play it. There are several possible reasons for this, including but not limited to changing the name or location of your music library/songs, or storing them on an external hard drive or device that is not currently attached. The solutions for these are different so let me know if any of these apply and we can troubleshoot.

  • When I try to import songs/playlists to my iPhone 6, grey spotted circle shows up next to most songs and they won't play. Help

I just set up my iPhone 6. I made a full backup from my 5 to iTunes. Everything was backed up and transferred except any of my music. Simple enough to do it manually, I thought and tried. But when I transfer a playlist from iTunes to the iPhone most songs show up in light grey with a dotted circle next to them once they are on the iPhone list and they won't play.
There are lots of threats about grey dotted circles from the past. Does anybody know what the issue is? I have the newest iTunes version and IOS version (8.02) for the 6. Why is this happening and how can this be fixed? This is all my music on my mac and most of it was on my previous iPhone 5, so why won't it play on the 6?
    Thanks!

    OK,
I was asking a little fast. It did indeed not work for a little while (up to 20 minutes) but once I started chatting with apple support it started resolving itself. The grey dotted circles mean two things. 1) the computer was taking some time to transfer the songs onto the phone (quite some time for some songs) but then they appeared on my phone. and 2) those songs I purchased, I can listen to on my phone and my imac, but they will remain unable to play (grey dotted circle) when I look at them on iTunes in my iphone playlist. So, I can play it on regular itunes or on my iphone, but not in my iphone folder on itunes. I hope that makes sense.
So problem got resolved for me. I hope this helps.

  • I purchased a song and it won't play. Help, I'm new to Mac

I purchased a song, and it shows up in my library, but it won't let me open it. I have authorised the computer, but that didn't work. I'm new to the whole mac thing, and would appreciate any help.

Most likely it's an incomplete or corrupted download. Contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the form at the bottom of their web page and explain the problem to them.
    Good luck.

  • Purchased songs and videos won't play on iPod

new 5th gen iPod shows songs and videos purchased from itunes onto computer and synched into ipod library, but won't play them. songs loaded from cd play fine on ipod.

Usually when this happes, the software on the ipod os not up to date.
whe nyou connect the ipod to the computer and the ipod shows in itunes under devices, click the update or restore button to the right in the summary screen so itunes can check online to see if there is an updated version of the ipod software online.
If you update first and that does not work, try the restore.

  • What does it mean to have an exclamation mark in front of a song, and it won't play?

I am trying to sync music from my itunes account that i didnt buy from itunes and its showing up with an exclamation mark when i click to play the song, and it wont sync all the songs i have. I havent had trouble with it before, so im trying to take any advice if you can help thank!

When you add a track to iTunes, iTunes puts a line in a file (library, itl) saying when you click on the track to play it, iTunes should go play such-and-such a file in a specific location.  If that file gets renamed, or a folder containing it gets renamed, or a drive holding that file is disconnected, or a host of other reasons why the information pointing to the file is no longer valid, you get a !
Use Spotlight or browse through the folder to see if the file is still on the computer.  You can try finding the file through iTunes to reconnect broken links.  If there are large numbers of them it gets more problematic but that are ways to try.  It helps though if we have some idea what caused this, such as you moving a folder (don't; move it back).

  • I have a playlist on my nano currently. My computer had to be rebooted and now the playlist won't sink onto my computer. I just downloaded over 50 songs and they won't load onto my ipod either.

the computer/itunes says it is syncing but it only takes a few seconds and nothing happens. I don't have a clue what to do. I want to play the new songs. the old songs i don't care about as much but i should be able to save and sync both lists together on my ipod. please please help me

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the current copies from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • I downloaded a song and it won't play. It just skips to the next song. I can't delete and redownload and I don't know what to do.

    Help!

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • I purchased a song, and it won't play. How do I fix it?

How do I go about getting a song I payed for to actually play?????  I use the same computer or phone to make my purchases, and this has never happened, every other song I downloaded the same night dowloaded correctly, but this one I guess didn't. How can I fix this?

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • I paid for and downloaded a song, but it won't play saying the file could not be found. It says this even when I click on the song IN the itunes store, so I can't even listen to the sample now??

I paid for and downloaded a song, but it won't play saying the file could not be found. It says this even when I click on the song IN the itunes store, so I can't even listen to the sample now??
I haven't kept records of the songs I have paid for, and a number of songs have recently been displaying this message, making me search my computer for them. Most I have been able to find, but this one immediately "disappeared" the moment I attempted to play it after downloading...... how do I either get it back or get my money back???

How did you do this move?  Unless you know what you are doing you have to move the whole, complete iTunes folder.
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.
