Recently installed iLife '08 appears to have dumped some of my photos
Since installing iLife '08 very recently a number of photos have disappeared. If I go to the iPhoto Library all I have is AlbumData.xml - Dir.data - Library.data and an Album file. All the contents of the album file are alias jpegs and that's it. No originals. There isn't even a file holding originals of the photos I can see in the iPhoto application.
If anyone can help I'd be extremely grateful!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You are looking in the Pictures folder for the library pacakge, right? Your contents of your library package should look like this? How did you go about updating to iLife 08 and the updating the library?

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

I have a MacBook 7,1 which i recently installed a PNY 250 SSD and added some RAM. The laptop was running awesome with OSX 10.6.8, lightning fast.
Then I installed Yosemite. There was a bit of hang during the install, but Yosemite came up no issue when I rebooted. Here is the problem:
Every other time I boot the MacBook it hangs at a grey screen with the prohibitory sign. Verbose reveals a "still waiting for root device" error. Now if I reboot from that hang, it boots fine, but then will hang again the next time. It keeps alternating like this. Any ideas??

i have recently installed icloud on my pc & have activated photo stream on my iphone. only a portion of the photos from my phone are now available on my pc. Why haven't they all transferred over?
When you turn on photo stream on a device that is the source of photos, only the photos you take in the future will sync to the stream, not the photos currently in the camera roll.
When you turn on photo stream on a device or computer that will receive photos from other devices, only the photos that have been on the servers for the past 30 days will sync, all older photos have been deleted from the servers.
To sync camera roll photos that weren't part of photo stream, you need to sync them manually using itunes. -
This started with windows 7 update June 16 2011
installed windows update, appears to have been June 16 2011 at 3:00.13 am now can't get on line I did a restore to previous of install and all worked oK But This morn I restarted my computer and update reinstalled and I don't have a restore point that will help (my bad)These are the updates that were installed

I have just installed some updates and find I have lost some files Can I uninstall the updates in a system restore process?
Hi Eric you don't say how I can get rid of the updates .? The files I lost were all pictures I think mostly JPEG

Hi I had just installed icloud to my comptuer but not all my photostream photos had uploaded to the folder on the pc. I have over 300 photos but only about 100 had uploaded. I have tried a few things but nothing seemed to work. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this problem it would be greatly apprciated. Thank you.

Connected ipad to win7 computer to upgrade os as I needed to download an app. Says it has latest version but it did not install correctly. From what I understand about your issues is that your iPad will currently not turn on. In attempt to resolve this issue please follow the steps in order below:
Resolution
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

I just upgraded to Yosemite and I cannot open Parallels. I am clicking on it and nothing happens.
What version of Parallels are you using? I received a notice that 9 is compatible, but must upgrade to latest version. To take full advantage of Yosemite they recommended purchasing an upgrade to Parallels 10. I have the latest 9 version, with XP installed and it is working fine (if I must use Publisher!)

Switch Photos (Photo Stream) off then back on.
Give iCloud a few minutes to re sync your photos. -
I have formatted a photo book, but am apprehensive to push the "buy" button as I have ordered prints that I thought were cropped correctly, and they returned with heads cut off and half of bodies mising. I have put the book on a PDF file as instucted, please reassure me that if everything looks right there, that is the way the book will look??
If the PDF looks good then the printed copy should be OK. The only problem you might run into is the color rendering. As long as none of your photos use the sRGB profile and not the Adobe RGB color profile the color should be fine.
On those prints that were cropped incorrectly: did you copy them to the print size ordered before uploading for printing? If not then they will be cropped by the printing equipment and you'll lose part of the top and bottom of the print (for landscape prints).

There is a little chance that your pictures are included in your last iCloud or iTunes backup, if the photos were stored in the camera roll. Otherwise they are probably gone. For the future I would suggest to start saving your photos additionally (in iPhoto etc.) on your Mac or PC or any other cloud storage like Dropbox.

Hope I am in the right forum. Just recently installed Leopard (still not sure all went OK with that but is running), and I want to install iLife 08. Previously have been using iLife 05. I know I do not want to use iMovie 08 and understand I can download iMovie HD 6. I have 2 iPhoto Libraries, one on my hard drive and the other on an external.
Now what?? guess I need someone to take my hand and guide me thru this. Would jump in but afraid I will make a mess of things and I don't need that just now.
Anxiously awaiting guidance!!

Installed iLife 08 and appeared to be a success except I cannot find iPhoto 08. I did watch as it was being installed. SOOOo, where is it.???
Also downloaded and installed iMovie HD 6, and same message, install complete. However, no icon in dock for that. Only can find the "yellow box".(not in dock). Help is needed. Sorry for my weak explanations trying to describe my problems but hoping for answers.

CANNOT OPEN OR EDIT PHOTOS SINCE INSTALLING iLIFE 08 and OS 10.5
I have recently installed iLIFE 08 and OS 10.5.1 and I cannot open or edit or use any of the photos in iPhoto. I get a white circle with an exclamation point in the center each time I try open open a photo.
I did back up iPhoto before installing the new software. Should I reinstall from the back up or is there another fix for this problem. Thank you in advance for the help.Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I believe that's an indication of a permissions issue. Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the option to repair permissions.
If that doesn't fix it download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner section and the current group in the group section. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.

Installed iLife '08 and iPhoto will not print
I recently installed iLife '08 and everything appears to work fine except we cannot print from iPhoto. The printer is fine and I can print from all other apps. iPhot cannot print, or order photos. Nothing happens when I attempt to print, order photos, cards or anything. HELP!!!
I tried setting up a new account adn test printing. Tried it on 2 new accounts and iPhoto load and updates, but shows no pictures or events. Where should iPhoto Library be? Mine is currently under users/username/pictures/iPhoto Library. If in wrong place, how do I move it to the right place without losing ability to find them and use iPhoto? Problem is in main account. Please help.
