You will just have to use the more convoluted drag and drop into the document, along with the chain of relocate and reset of the object properties in Pages 5.
Or just use Pages '08/09 which should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.

Brand new macbookpro; recent install Yosemite; computer now opens to my name and image but no place to put the password but nothing happens when trying to click on restart etc.

Macbook Pro purchased December 2014.....was fine until update iOS to Yosemite 2 days ago. Now, when turned on my image with my name comes up on the screen...no place to put your password.....at the bottom...restart, but used cursor to click on the restart and also my name, the image etc....nothing happens.
I shutdown to go into the Recovery OS....and got the screen about resetting the password....which doesn't need reset. The third choice seemed more appropriate regarding the keyboard...but could not click on any of them with the cursor.
Spent an hour with Apple support who ended up referring me to an Apple store that's a 100 mile round trip from me. Can't believe they can't help me...and can't believe this is happening to a brand new Mac.....guess Apple is no different than any other computer...install an update or upgrade...and immediately have problems.

Resetting User Password in Lion and Mountain Lion
Boot into your Recovery Partition by holding down the Command and R keys whilst booting.
When the Recovery screen appears, go to the Utilities menu and open Terminal.
In Terminal, type:
resetpassword
...a small app will open and allow you to choose the user for whom you want to change the password. If you are the admin, be certain that you choose your admin user. Type in your new password twice and give yourself a good hint. Click OK (or Done or whatever) and reboot, enjoying the use of your new, hopefully memorable, password.

I just recently installed Lion and now my 27" imac thinks it's a 24". I can't find any way to correct it, help?

Pretty much like it says up top.
I have a 27" imac that was running 10.6. Now that I upgraded to 10.7, it thinks it's a 24" for some reason and the resolution differential is making my mouse track annoying slow while inside programs. (But not on the desktop, oddly.)
I can't find ANY way to correct this thing's assumptions about how big it is. Can someone help me convince my computer it's not that small?

Just installed itunes upgrade.Now it does not do anything at all...

Had the old itunes working happily. Installed the new itunes upgrade thing, and the Quicktime upgrade that comes with it. The same itunes icon is on my computer, but does absolutley nothing when I click on it... no error code, no response, nada, zip, zilch...Thoughts? Thanks.

I clicked on Firefox update button. Once the 3.6 was upgraded, now my images and pictures are all blurred.

A couple of days ago, my system said Firefox update available. It encouraged me to upgrade to 3.36 for faster and better connection. I did just that. After words I logged into Facebook and then logged out. I logged into another favorite website. Immediately I noticed every image or picture on internet, website etc became completely burred. I can't tell most faces and it hasn't changed back. How do I change back to older version so that I have good pictures/images I need? I need to see pictures properly. Also, google itself on home a page looks blurry.

Check that you do not run Firefox in compatibility mode or with a reduced screen resolution.
You can check that in the "Compatibility" tab in the Properties via the right-click context menu of the Firefox desktop shortcut.
Make sure that all items are de-selected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.

Tried to download most recent apple sw upgrades, now PowerBook won't boot

Last night I wanted to watch a video someone sent in an email (that I watched on my G5 earlier), but my laptop needed latest realplayer, so I downloaded that, installed it. Then apple said I needed to upgrade my operating system, I forget to what (I have 3 macs!)...I downloaded about 5 upgrades, one was the latest OS, one was java, 3 others, wasn't paying close attention. But downloads took a while... Wanted to restart, I said OK.
When I went to boot up laptop, I'd hear a beep, then pause, then the apple chime, then nothing, black screen! So I tried again, but this time, held power button down, finally, got a white screen w/ this message, in a tiny font up in left corner. I just tried again, and this is the message:

so I typed mac-boot, and return,
I finally see gray apple on white screen, round cursor spinning below...then two minutes later, apple changed into a circle w/ a diagonal line through it, and round cursor just spins and spins...
I just tried again, and the cursor has been spinning for over 10 minutes...
It is about 5 yrs old, so out of warranty.
Anyone have any clue what's going on? I've been on macs for almost 10 yrs, and have never run into this before!

You can't download an OS upgrade. Occasionally you'll see an OS update (such as 10.4.2 to 10.4.3) but if you have 10.4.x and an application says you need 10.5 or better, you have to buy the upgrade in a store. Since the PowerBook G4 uses a PowerPC processor, the highest version of the OS you can run is 10.5 Leopard. (10.6 Snow Leopard requires an Intel processor.)
That being said... no way to know what update you downloaded that caused that problem, but here is a KB article that may help:

Is ichat on an older machine compatible with Mavericks Messages video chatting? Is there something I can do to video chat with someone who has ichat on an older machine? They aren't going to upgrade so am I stuck with Skype? We really liked ichat.

Yes, I can video chat with someone on Skype. I only ichat with my younger sister and she doesn't ichat with anyone else. I don't have anyone else to try out the video chatting with in Messages. She's not tech savy and doesn't feel comfortable doing anything to her program. A friend may try to get her up and running on Skype, we just liked chatting with the Mac programs.

I recently installed Lion and now my software update won't work

Everytime I try to click on software udpate it says "Checking for new software" with a progress bar and then
"The Software Update Server is not responding. Check to make sure your network connection is operating normally. If there are no issues with your connection, contact your network administrator for assistance."
My internet connection is fine and I suspect this is related to the Lion download. Please help!

Recently switched to Firefox. WMV files in Outlook Express will not open. Message: NEED CODEX.

If you cannot remember the passcode for the Screen Lock, you will need to Restore the device...
1) Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore...

Another new problem is Firefox telling me, when the e-mail window is open, that the window must run in 32 bit. The window is then disabled and then i have to restart Firefox.

Don't have a direct answer. But did you install the updates. They might resolve the problem.

Yes, this did solve the problem. But I had some trouble updating QuickTime. It failed, with the installer complaining that it did not have the required permissions to install the files it needed in the program directory. I got it to work by telling it to install the files to another directory. All seems well now - Thanks!
