Recently purchased HP 850 with Windows 8.1, unable to upgrade to Windows 10

I received my new HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop 850 (850-050qe CTO / M0K54AV#ABA) with Windows 8.1 (shown under Windows Edition). The shipping container states that this desktop is ready for Windows 10 upgrade. However, I do not see the "Get Windows 10" app on the toolbar. I have downloaded all available updates (recommended and optional), but there are two missing (KB2919442, and KB2919355). After reading through numerous articles, it seems that I need to install KB2919442 first before installing KB2919355, but when attempting to install KB2919442, I receive an error message "this update is not applicable to your system". Please advise!

  • My recent purchase of QuickTime 7 Pro for Mac OS X upgrade doesn't do "screen record" on my Intel Mac Pro with system 10.6.8. Apple won't accept responsibility and refund my money.

QuickTime 7 doesn't offer that, but the built-in QuickTime X Player does. You may find another use for the key.

  • I recently purchased an iMac with Maverick system. I want to know can I install my Photoshop CS5  on this computer then upgrade it to CS6 without a months charge in the cloud?

I recently purchased an iMac with Maverick system. I want to install my Photoshop CS5 on it, is that okay?
Then I want to update it to CS6 without the iCloud purchase monthly (don't want that, want a one time charge)???

As per System requirements | Photoshop, PS is not officially supported on Maverick and you might face several compatibility issues as well. However, we have many users who are still using CS5 on Mavericks. So, if you want you can give it a try and check it for your self.
As far as CS6 is concerned, you can get PS CS6 perpetual version easily from Adobe.com Creative Suite 6
    Hope that Helps!

No one from Apple here - this is a user-to-user forum for the Apple Thunderbolt Display. If you don't like your iPad, sell it.
If you want to ask questions about your iPad, go to the iPad community forum.

  • Purchased MacBook Pro with windows which will not open b/c no license

Purchased MacBook Pro with windows which will not now open b/c no license number.
CD package has license number stripped from Apple. How do I get the license number
for the software I purchased for Windows XT?

This is not a Mac/Apple issue.  You need to contact the seller and ask where the Windows XP product key is.

  • I have recently purchased an Ipod with 2430 tunes stored on it and I wish to transfer these tunes to Itunes and then upload them to another Ipod.  How do I do this please?

I have recently purchased an Ipod with 2430 tunes stored on it and I wish to transfer these tunes to I tunes and then upload them to another Ipod I own.  In plain speak how do I do this please?

On-The-Go Playlists, created on your iPod Classic, are added to your iTunes Library when you Sync the iPod to the same iTunes Library that you have been using up to now.
But note that On-The-Go Playlists, saved on the Classic, are named as New Playlist 1, New Playlist 2, etc. and are listed at the end of the Playlists. When you Sync your iPod with its iTunes Library, those saved Playlists are transferred to the Library, renamed as On-The-Go X (where X is the next available number) and then added back to your iPod with the new name. They will also be in correct alphabetical order, so they will be in the Playlists list under O for On-The-Go.
If you also have an On-The-Go Playlist on the iPod (which has not been saved), that too will be uploaded to iTunes in the same manner.
For some unknown reason, you will also probably see one extra, but empty, Playlist created in iTunes. This is a bug, which may get fixed one day! Until then, you simply have to delete in in iTunes.

I recently purchased LR 4. Am I eligible for an upgrade to LR 4?

Probably not. Adobe will inform us all when LR5 is released, but based on past experience, only people who purchased LR4 within 30 days of the release of LR5 get free upgrades.

  • I recently purchase macbook air with OS 10.10.2. I want to use my Seagate external backup plus hard drive for time machine back up. How to partition my 1TB Seagate back up plus hard drive for use with mac and windows pc?

    Hi All,
I recently purchased 13" Macbook Air with OS 10.10.2. I want to use my 1TB Seagate backup plus external hard drive as time machine and my windows 7 pc. Please suggest a method. Thanks in advance for your reply.

I strongly recommend having an external drive dedicated solely for TimeMachine. You could partition the drive but if something goes wrong you risk losing the data on both partitions. Should you decide to go ahead with splitting the drive for two different uses you’ll need to partition the drive either using the Mac’s built in Disk Utility program or Windows utility. I believe the built in Windows disk utility program will destroy the current partition and erase the data that’s on it - I use a third party Windows disk utility program for partitioning and it allows for non-destructive partitioning but warns to back up data first just in case. Apple’s Disk Utility can do non-destructive partitions but I don’t recall every trying to do a non-destructive partition on a disk originally formatted for Windows using it. Again - back up that data just in case.
Finally, your TimeMachine drive should be at least 1.5 times (I prefer 2 times) the size of the data you expect to be backing up a year or two from now.  In other words, if you currently are using 50GB of your computer’s drive but expect to begin purchasing Mac software to replace software on your Windows computer and if you expect to be putting photos, music, and other data on it you might expect that two years from now you’ll have 100GB of stuff on the drive. So a 200GB partition is the smallest size you’d want.  TM’s backup scheme keeps multiple copies of data as it changes so the extra room is important for this scheme.

  • My recently purchase iMac came with pre-installed operating software but no backup disks. What happens if I find it necessary to re-install?

Having ditched Windows after years of frustration I recently bought an iMac with Lion pre-installed. While not necessary at this tme there were no installation disks sent with the purchase. What happens should I find it necessary to reinstall the operating system?

No. You do NOT have to buy Lion again.
If you replace your HDD or erase the recovery partion, it will download and install lion from Apple' servers.
    See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
    Quoute:
If you happen to encounter a situation in which you cannot start from the Recovery HD, such as your hard drive stopped responding or you installed a new hard drive without Mac OS X installed, new Mac models introduced after public availability of OS X Lion automatically use the Lion Internet Recovery feature if the Recovery HD (Command-R method above) doesn't work. Lion Internet Recovery lets you start your Mac directly from Apple's Servers. The system runs a quick test of your memory and hard drive to ensure there are no hardware issues.

  • HT1349 I just purchased  new PC with windows 8.1 and downloaded Itunes, but when I try to add my Music Library from the back up dvd's I created off my old computer it doesn't automatically start the back up process like it did before. How can I "restore"

I just purchased a new PC with windows 8.1 and downloaded new itunes, but when I try to "restore" my music library from the DVDS i made from my old pc it doesn't automatically restore my library as it used to.  How do I restore my music library from DVDS?

Thanks but I already did read all of the help notes, which aren't very helpful for this.  I did find out the problem- Apple.....they evidently changed one of the major upsides to their old software- being able to back up your entire library onto dvd's- so you can longer do that or restore from the dvds created from older versions of itunes.  I suspect greed is at play in that Apple now wants you to pay $24.95 per year to use a "cloud" service where they back it up for you.  I can buy a lifetime supply of back up dvds for one year's worth of cloud.  So I am now looking into other music software as I am Appled-out.  There is no reason for them to take away the back up portion of the software other than to sell you thrir cloud service.  As we have already given them a ton of money for 5 Ipods and a bunch of music, I think we have contributed enough.  Time to look to solutions outside of the Apple money tree.  But thank you for reading and replying.

  • HT4759 hi, am unable to play or open recently purchased movie on macbook pro retina and unable to open iCloud...am being asked to set up iCloud whichI thought I had done already, help please

need help playing recently purchased movie on desktop and icloud

You don't need an iCloud account to download previous purchases from "iTunes in the Cloud".  (This is a separate service that does not require an iCloud account.)
This explains how to download your previous purchases: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519.

  • How do I make itunes purchased music compatible with Windows Movie Maker?

Windows Movie Maker will not accept the itunes format and I cannot find a way to convert the files. I need to convert the format to any of the following accepted formats: .aif, .aifc, .aiff .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wma
    Please Help!

If your iTunes Music Store purchases are 128kpbs protected (with digital rights management) AAC files, they cannot be directly converted to other formats. If the files are 256kbps unprotected iTunes Plus AAC files, you can convert them as desired for your personal use.
