Recently reinstalled windows - now Ipod problems

I just reinstalled Windows XP a few days ago, and since then my ipod has a problem restoring itself. Not only that, but it's frozen with DISK MODE listed at the top.
Also, everytime I restart my machine, the IPOD updater dialogue pops up and asks if I want to update the software. SO I say YES, but during the restoring process, it just sits there. I let it sit overnight once and it still never finished.
Then I restart again and open itunes. Itunes (along with my computer) sees my Ipod and wants to update it. I let it. And after that is done. I take the Ipod off the dock, yet it's still frozen. The light does not come on and at the top it still says DISK MODE.
I heard there is a way to reset the ipod completely. How can you do that? But most of all, how do I get my ipod out of disk mode??

  • I recently reinstalled windows, no music how can I get it back? x

I recently reinstalled windows on my computer which means I have lost all of my music files. Is there any way I can get them back?  I have one copy of the majority of the music on my i pod and the rest is (hopfully) backed up on an external hard-drive I was hoping I wouldnt have to get them back from the copy on the external hard-drive ... is there any other way of gettin them back?
    kind regards ~ Nat

No.  You'll either need to copy them from the backup drive or copy them from your iPod into your new (empty) iTunes library.

  • Reinstalled windows now problem

first the specs:  rs480m2 motherboard,  amd 3700, raptor, 4 512mb corsair ram, ati x800.
I wanted to start off fresh so I reinstalled windows via the emachines disks i had. I installed all the drivers from msi update live and flashed the bios to the current one.  Had a couple problems.
    1) couldn't verify windows correctly
    2) whenever I play an mp3 or a movie,  or get on a game,  I would get a sort of video lag and audio popping.
So, I thought maybe the emachines disk was the problem,  went out and bought Win Xp.  I installed it and now windows runs fine except for the same popping and lagging.  I updated all the drivers from msi update live.
Its weird cause if i go into a game like battlefield 2, it will lag and pop for a while, and then clear up and run fine,  and then ten minutes later will do it again constantly.  When I first get on the cpu I can play mp3's fine, but after something intensive like a game or movie it will start doing it again.
I don't know what could be the problem, all the drivers are up to date, windows has all the updates,  the only thing I did differently this time was flash the bios,  I flashed the bios again to make sure it was all good and it flashed again fine.   Think I might try to flash back to an older bios, anyway I can do this using the windows flashing program from msi update?
    Sorry so long,
    Any help appreciated

This may well be due to flashing the Bios back to a standard one from MSI. Most OEM's make changes to their Bios and Windows installs to make the machine proprietary. Now that you have an MSI bios you may have to use a normal Window and not the one from eMachines.
Just my best guess as I am not sure what eMachines has setup with your machine.

  • Thinkpad X1 Product: 1294-2pg, reinstalled windows 7 having problems

    Hi there
recently had to reinstall windows 7 professional because i have a virus on my laptop preventing internet access.
I'm now going through the long process of installing all the drivers again, but they aren't working for some reason. I can't access my webcam (when I press Fn + F6 nothing happens), the brightness buttons (FN + f8/f9), the volume buttons on the right hand side work but nothing comes up on the screen. the only driver that seems to have installed properly is access connections.
I have installed all the drivers I thought I would need from the website but none of them have had any affect (apart from access connections). I also cannot correct the screen resolution, it is the wrong one but i can only choose from 1024 x 768, 960 x 600 and 800 x 600 on the windows screen resolution settings. i think my resolution should be 1366 x 768.
please help!!  my dissertation is due in a few days and i need a working laptop to write on.
    thanks for reading.

  • Reinstalled Windows Without uninstalling iTunes

I recently reinstalled Windows on one of my computers but forgot to deauthorize iTunes before doing so. I can't authorize the computer now because all of the licenses are in use, but I can't deauthorize the computer either.
Is there a way to fix my problem?
    Thanks.

If you've reached five authorizations for that account, there will be a button in your iTunes Store account information that will allow you to deauthorize all systems associated with that account. Log into your Store account and you should see it. You can then reauthorize the computers you're using now.

  • Since reinstalling Windows 7, I cannot sync my iMac and Win 7 bookmarks.

Hi, since having to recently reinstalling Windows 7 on my iMac using Parallels 10, I can no longer sync my iMac Firefox bookmarks with my Win 7 bookmarks. My iMac bookmarks remain unaffected, but my Win 7 bookmarks will not sync and show the same old bookmarks as my iMac Firefox shows. I have deleted and re-registered my Sync account and still no different. I have tried adding my Win 7 OS as a new device, but Sync does not show the page for this. It just shows the Manage page and does not give me that option.
Can you please help on how I can once again sync the two bookmarks?

    Hi guigs2
Thanks for your suggestion but that hasn't resolved my problem. I have closed down my account, created a new one and still my iMac Firefox bookmarks will not sync with my Windows 7 Firefox bookmarks (I am using Parallels 10 virtual machine). I have noticed that my mobile firefox has sync'd though, so I just need my Windows firefox bookmarks to sync. Have you any further advice please?

  • HT1351 I recently had my hard drive wiped out by a virus and had to reinstall windows and itunes. When i hooked up my ipod it didnt automatically sync my songs on my ipod with the library. How do I do this manually?

I recently had my hard drive wiped out by a virus and had to reinstall windows and itunes. When I hooked up my ipod it did not transfer my songs from my ipod to my itunes library. How do I do this?

iTunes syncing is generally in one direction only, from the computer's iTunes library to the iPod.  You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchsed from the iTunes Store).
However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.  (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to your new iTunes library.  (Going forward, you should use a backup strategy, and include your iTunes data in what gets backed up.  Then, you would be able to recover your complete iTunes library, including things like playlists and ratings.)

  • Problems with screen resolution after reinstalling Windows 7 Home Premium

Product Name: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
    Product Number: A6X94UA#ABA
    BIOS: F.1C
    Processor: Intel Core i7-2670QM
Graphics Device: Intel HD Graphics Family
I recently had to wipe my laptop and reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium (created restore disk from Windows).  Ever since, I have not been able to adjust my display settings any higher than 1024x768.  My only other option on the adjustment range is 800x600.  I have updated BIOS (it was already at latest version) and I have searched for updated drivers (system says most recent ones are in use), but I cannot get it to provide me with a more appropriate size selection for my screen; I have to scroll back and forth in Internet Explorer, for example, to see a full screen because it doesn't fit correctly on my laptop screen.
It seems like this should be an easy fix, but I can't seem to find the right trick.  Can anyone help?
    TIA,
    Teri

    @buzymom2 ,
Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forums. The only thing I would try at this point is to go to this link and download the software and drivers for your notebook.
HP Pavilion dv6-6c53cl Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers
Once you have them downloaded save them to a USB memory stick or burn them to a CD or DVD.
Now you will want to boot into safe mode.
    Entering Safe Mode (Windows 7)
Now in safe mode uninstall all your drivers by going into the device manager.
    Uninstall or Reinstall a Device
Once you have the drivers removed, reboot into windows in normal mode.  Now install your drivers one at a time you have to start with the chipset driver.  If you install the drivers without the chipset first it can cause all kinds of problems.
Let me know how things go.
Thank you so much for posting and have a great day.

  • Had to reinstall windows 7 - Problems syncing iPhone with new iTunes

    Hello everyone!
I've recently had to reinstall windows 7. Now I am having issues syncing my iPhone 4 with my new iTunes. I've look online at several forums and webpages but haven't found a workable solution yet.
My issues are that when I attempt to sync my iPhone with the new iTunes, it tells me that it will erase everything on the phone and replace it with what's in iTunes. Well there's nothing in iTunes so this is a problem.
Now I don't purchase anything through iTunes, except for a few apps, and the only thing I really want out of syncing is to get some class recordings, done by Voice Memos, from my iPhone to my computer. The files are all around ~30 Mb so I can't email them.
Is there anyway to do this?
    Thanks,
    Greg

What gets erased is the iTunes/App store purchases on your phone, replaced with the contents of your iTunes library on your computer - in this case nothing.  Voice memos sync only from phone to computer - they don't get deleted.
To avoid losing your apps, music/media:
    1. Defeat automatic syncing on connection to iTunes:  ITunes preferences > Devices > Prevent .... from syncing automatically
    2. Connect phone to computer with iTunes open
    3. ITunes menu > File > Devices > Transfer Purchases
    4. iTunes menu > File > Devices > Back UP
Now OK to sync voice memos to iTunes.
