Recently switch from PC to Mac

I started to use the iPhone on a PC but now that I have made the complete switch to Mac the phone no longer syncs with iTunes! iTunes doesn't even auto-launch when I manually open it it freezes and I have to force quit the application. What should I do?

Is your iPhone still set to sync with your PC? Because if so, your Mac probably won't even recognize its auto-open-iTunes feature. I would suggest (if your Mac will even let you open iTunes without freezing) that you restore your iPhone. Be sure and do it on your Mac. Then set up all your syncing with your mac and it should work fine. Did the article viali17 have you look at solve the freezing issue?

It's because the PowerMac G5 had HUGE bandwidth with a fat BUS on each processsor so they could run hard, hot and heavy.
It's not so with the Intel processors which are multi-core and share a common bus thus bottleneck.
The newer Intel processors can do more work on the CPU, but when it comes to in/out they are s-l-o-w.
I've had a wickedly fast dual processor (not dual core) G5, RAID 0 pair of 10,000 RPM drives as boot and a fast video card, I could do a lot very very fast.
You'll likely have to upgrade to Final Cut X to get more cores utilized, prepare to cry a little bit, Apple is working on the features they stripped out of it to make amends to pro users who complained loudly. (all over TV too)

I recently switched from PC to Mac and am able to find and transfer most of the larger files of music to iTunes, but there are about 750 songs that are held in sub-files that require me to dig in and transfer them one by one to iTunes.. I've tried transferring the parent folders, but it doesn't seem to work.  Does anyone know of a more efficient way of getting iTunes to dig into the subfolders and transfer the music without me having to go one by one?

  • Recently switched from windows to Mac-can't get ipod nano to sync

After reading help pages, I believe I need to reset my ipod. HOwever, all the directions are asking me to select ipod from device list and mine won't even show up on the device page of itunes. At this point I just want to erase everything on it and start over. Any help would be appreciated!

I have read that page before. My problem is that as I try to restore and follow the directions, it says to plug in ipod and wait for it to appear in the itunes page. Well it does not show up, so I cannot find the restore button in the settings. I really think its a software problem as the ipod just says do not disconnect whenever it is plugged into my computer-whether it's charged or not. Thanks for trying to help.

  • I recently switched from PC to a Mac Book Pro and some things are different. I used to be able to open a jpeg or tiff in camera raw on my PC in Photoshop CS6 by going to file, open as, picking my image under file name and "open as" click on camera raw. Ho

I recently switched from PC to Mac and I want to be able to open a tiff or jpeg in camera raw. I could do it on my PC but can't figure out how to do it in Mac??

Use File>Open, set Enable to All Readable Documents, then click on your tiff or jpeg and select Camera Raw under Format
    Then click on Open

  • Since switch from pc to mac epson R800 producing lousy photos.

Recently switched from pc to mac pro. Using Epson R800 printer. Cinema Display is calibrated using spyder pro. Mac driver downloaded from Epson seems to work okay altho setup is quite different from PC. Really not very good, actually. Prints are really very poor, not acceptable by any standard.
Have rechecked with Epson and apparently I have the newest driver for mac os x.
    Anyone got any ideas???

Yep, know all that. The problem that seems to exist is the inability in the mac to control all of the usual features that were previously controllable when this printer was setup on the pc.
I downloaded the mac driver for this printer from Epson but peculiarly in CS3 it does not allow for all functions. Why? Wish I knew.
So, downloaded it again, just in case a file or whatever went missing on the first download. Same thing happens. Not all printer controls are usable.
Oh and nope I do not have the gutenprint or whatever it's called listed so that's not the problem.

  • Did Mac OS recently switch from 72 DPI to 96 DPI?

Did Mac OS recently switch from 72 DPI to 96 DPI?
I ask this because my MacBook renders text at 96 DPI, whereas I read everywhere that Mac OS (X?) renders text at 72 DPI, and MS Windows renders text at 96 dpi.
Note I'm only talking font points to pixels, not pixels to screen (which is dependent on the display).
For example, on TextEdit in plain text mode a 16 point font is rendered at 21 pixels, and that corresponds to 96 DPI (if it was rendered at 72 DPI, it would be 16 pixels instead of 21).
I had a look at the "System Profiler" > Graphics/Display, but I couldn't find a DPI value. It only mentions resolution (e.g. 1366x768).
So, do you know if Mac OS recently switched from 72 DPI to 96 DPI? And if yes, do you know at which version it made the switch?

Thanks Kurt, but this was not the info I was looking for.
My point is, how comes my Mac is behaving as a 96 dpi OS, where this is not documented anywhere that I know of?
In fact, as I said, I've found plenty of documentation saying the mac is a 72 DPI OS
(for example, wikipedia) and, even after extensive googling, I have found none saying it is a 96 DPI OS?
In fact, everywhere it says Windows is a 96 dpi OS, and I've verified that.
Every rendering engine has a specific DPI count, which does NOT relate to the question "how many pixels (or points) do I need to specify if I want my text to be x inches tall" (by the way, I call that "pixel-to-screen" resolution, or "points-to-screen" resolution). That depends on the screen.
The DPI I'm talking about answers the question "how many points do I need to specify if I want my text to be x pixels tall". I call that the "points-to-pixel" resolution. That doesn't depend on the screen, it only depends on the OS (at least, when there's no "software" zoom, that's why I take TextEdit as a test on Mac, and Notepad on Windows).

  • HT204053 I recently switched from a pc to a Mac and now I cannot locate my music library in iTunes... Please assist

I recently switched from a pc to the Mac and now I am unable to locate my music library in iTunes... any advice?

Your question is a little bit vague, can you be more specific? Are you trying to find your iTunes library on the PC so you can move it to the Mac? Have you already moved it to the Mac? Can you see the music in iTunes on the Mac, but want to  find the folder where iTunes puts the music files?

  • Sync problems after switch from Windows to Mac; cannot read/write error msg

I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software issue.
I recently switched from a PC to a Mac. To move my iTunes files (50GB) I simply dragged and dropped them from my external HD to my new computer. I know that Apple does not recommend this process, but when I needed to move my library between drivers earlier this year, it was the only way I could do it without getting an error message that killed the process.
Moving the files seemed to be a success. Everything appeared in iTunes, I was able to play the music, etc.
I then tried synching my iPod (Classic 160 GB – I think 5th gen, it’s about 3 years old) on the new computer. I got some message that said you can only have one iPod per account and that I would have to wipe the iPod before syncing. I let it do that.
    Here's where problems began:
With a few gigs to go in the sync I got a message that says something to the effect that iTunes cannot read or write to the iPod. Even though must of the library had been transferred to the iPod, before disconnecting the iPod iTunes wiped all but a few hundred megs worth of music from it. I've tried restoring the iPod a few times but that has had no effect. The first time I tried to sync the iPod it was formatted for Windows. I have reformatted it for Mac.
Also noteworthy is that the first 3/4ths of my library copies very quickly -- 1GB a minute -- but then it eventually slows down to where 100 MB takes 10 minutes. It copies the files in a different order every time, so it doesn't look like it's getting hung up on the same files every time.
In case I had a corrupted file, I deleted all the files added to the library since my last successful sync.
    Suggestions?
Should I just go to the nearest Apple store and beg for mercy?

    Hi!
same problem here.I can use around 30G of my iPod Classic 160G.If i try to upload more than that it will take very long time and finally freezes.
Have no idea what to do..

  • Problems with switch from Windows to Mac

I recently switched from Windows PC to a new Mac and cannot install the Acrobat 7.0 Professional CD that I used with Windows on the Mac. Am I missing something, or do I need to buy a whole new product?

No Windows program will install on Macintosh (a very few products have
both Windows and Macintosh on one disk, but not here).
If you call Adobe you can buy a "crossgrade" for a reduced price. You
will need to upgrade to Acrobat 9.0 at the same time.

I own Photoshop Elements 4, and recently made the switch from PC to Mac. Of course, my installation CD is useless. Is there a way to download the Mac version (with my serial number, etc.) without having to pay for another copy?
Unfortunately not.  There is no way to officially download old software packages.  Your best way is to get a new version (version 10) from Amazon:
    <http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-65136385-Photoshop-Elements-10/dp/B005MMMT6E/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF 8&qid=1343016745&sr=8-4&keywords=pse10>
It is about $67 + Free shipping
The package sold by Amazon can be installed in Windows 7 or Apple Mac, or OS X so you have future proof technology depending on how often you upgrade the technology.
    Good luck.

  • I have switched from PC to Mac how do i use my windows version  of adobe photoshop CS3 on my MAC?

i have switched from PC to Mac how do i use my windows version  of adobe photoshop CS3 on my MAC?

    rebel1568,
All Photoshop versions through CS6 came with platform-specific licenses, either Windows or PC.  You could get a cross-grade of platform swap at a nominal cost but not for older versions, only for whatever Photoshop versions was current at the time.
CS3 is totally out of the upgrade or cross-grade loop.  You'd have to buy a new license for CS6 Mac or subscribe to Photoshop CC, as Trevor points out.
Curt Y is correct in that CS2 will not run on current Mac-Intel machines.  You would need a used Mac G5 or G4 with a PowerPC (IBM) CPU, which have been obsolete since mid 2006.
Of course, you could run your Windows  on your Mac if you installed and ran BootCamp or Parallells.

Do I need to change a setting since I changed computers? I try to add songs from my music into my phone section and it will not go... Plus the playlists on my phone are not updated on my iTunes phone on my computer. Its like it never updated. What am I doing wrong??

Iphone will sync with one computer at a time.
When you sync to another it will delete the current content.
Make sure you have copied everything from your old computer to your new one first.
