Recently upgraded memory, not usable

Hi, I have a HP Probook 6555b laptop which came with 4GB installed RAM. O/s is Windows 7 Professional 64bit. The specs says that the max memory that can be installed is 8GB.
I have upgraded the RAM to 8GB, 2x4G DDR3 SODIMMs.
When I go to system properties, it shows the installed memory as 8GB, but usable memory as on 2.74GB.
When I go to task manager, performance, resource monitor, it shows 5.3GB as reserved for hardware.
I googled a bit and a few people mentioned that I have remap the memory in the BIOS. The BIOS also shows the installed memory as 2x4B, but unfortunately the BIOS has no option to remap the memory. The BIOS is up to date.
Can anybody please help?

Ok, found the solution.
Nothing to do to with BIOS remapping, etc.
Opened 'msconfig', went to 'boot' tab, clicked 'advanced options', and unticked 'maximum memory'. After the restart, it now shows usable memory as 7.74GB.

Before the most recent upgrade to Firefox 3.6.8 two weeks ago, everything worked fine with this program. My issue is, I can not copy and paste a URL address from You Tube and download it into a program called Audio Editor. After the upgrade, when I copy and paste the URL address and start to download, there is no download. The message No File Downloaded, please try again. It is like there is nothing there. Can you be more clear about your issue. What I understand from your post is that you "can not copy and paste a URL address from You Tube and download it into a program called Audio Editor". Does this mean that you cannot paste the URL you copy? Or does this mean that Audio Editor is not recognizing the URL?
Also, this Audio Editor you speak off is not developed by Mozilla, so if it's just that it's not working correctly, you need to contact its author for support.

Upgraded memory not reporting correctly

I upgraded my Mac Mini to 1GB of RAM, but the system still says I have 512MB of RAM. I got the memory from the Apple Store, so I know it's the right memory size. I've double-checked that the memory is inserted properly. Any Ideas?

Yes, it was probably just a seating problem. The memory slots are tight and there's not much maneuvering room and every once in a while one of the SIMMs doesn't seat properly. For me it tends to be the bottom slot. The tech probably just assumed everything was okay because the mini booted up okay - or maybe he was really busy and thought he'd checked under About this Mac.

Upgraded memory results in connectivity problems. Why?

4 year old mac mini. Recently upgraded memory from 1gig to 4gig. Since then, after a short time online, I get notified I am disconnected. Says isp has failed, even tho there is strong signal. I cantinue diagnostic steps. Notification pops up that says the configuration has changed. Then I am reconneced. Never stays reconnected for long. All physical components fine, checked out at apple store.
Any ideas on what the problem is?

iOS uses more memory on the iPhone 5 than the iPhone 4 because there are quite a few more to iPhone 5. Therefore there will be less memory available on the 5. Reluctantly iOS 7, coming this fall, uses a bit less memory than iOS 6 so if you can do without a few apps until then you should be gravy!

I am having several problems. I recently upgraded to ios7 and now my PC (Windows 7) is not recognizing my iphone. 1) I am getting an error message when itunes opens: "Itunes could not connect to the iphone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iphone before it can be used with itunes." How did it get locked and how do I unlock it without losing my data? What do they mean by passcode? I don't have a 4-number code to get into my iphone activated. In fact, I've never had a passcode.
2) I cannot download my photos from my iphone onto my computer because my computer doesn't recognize my iphone. In other words, my iphone does not show up on my computer (no iphone icon, no DCIM folder).
3) This is a separate issue but it is also very confusing: I went online to check my iCloud and I cannot see any data (icloud.com). But I know that I set up iCloud when I upgraded to ios7 and it backs up my data every night. What am I doing wrong, am I unable to see my data and photos?
Why is this happening? It was bad enough that when I upgraded to ios7, I lost my Notes - I have no idea why they didn't return. But now essentially my iphone is not recognized when connected to my computer and this is very frustrating. Now that I have my new iPhone, I would like to first sync the old phone so all the data will be available for the new phone. I would also like to have an extra copy of my audio ebooks on the old iPhone so my husband and I can both listen at the same time using earphones while driving long distances in the car and then discuss the book. We have been unable to do this with the old iPhone alone due to constant road noise.

When i press command+I (Get Info) i see that there is 140 GB "Available Space" on my hard disk but when i click on my hard disk icon on the desktop, and then press "space" i only see 102 GB free!! What the f*???

How do I install a foxit button on my tool bar? I recently upgraded to the latest version, but my tool bar does not contain a firefox button which is need for certain tasks, such as private browsing.

I had an existing laters 3 point whatever version of Firefox and recently upgraded to Firefox 10. This new version still has the old toolbar across the top, but there is no "Firefox button" which one has to use to activate certain action such as "private browsing." Is there anyway I can install the button on the toolbar, or is there a way to change to the new version 10 interface which includes the Firefox Button. I would prefer the former (the old configuration with the tool bar on top, but if that cannot be done, how to I migrate to the new configuration which apparently puts the tools on the side, if I'm not mistaken.

If you have the old fashioned toolbar, you can still go into Private browsing by clicking Tools, then "Start Private Browsing". All the options that are in the Firefox button are in the old style toolbar, just maybe a little more hidden.
To enable te Firefox button, go into View, then Toolbars, then uncheck "Menu Bar". You should have the Firefox button.

Unfortunately, the error message gives no details about what codec might be missing or what it needs.
If the file can't be opened in QT, it only means you cannot use the QT "Inspector" window to check what compression formats were used to create the file. It does not mean you can't use the Finder "Information" window to check on the compression formats or use a third party media information window (e.g., like VLC which will open many compression formats not supported natively by QT) to determine what kind of data is included in the MOV wrapper. If the file cannot be opened in any app, it is usually a good sign that the file itself is corrupted.
It's a stupid error message. Apple should do better than that.
Error trapping is quite extensive but there are still many areas which require human oversight. The message is telling you that either the container has a problem (e.g., not properly terminated, non-standard, or corrupted) or that one or more of the compression formats used is not supported by your current codec component configuration or that the data was encoded using non-standard settings or preferences not supported by QT or that the fourCC code does not match the data contained in the file or that there are timecode inconsistencies, etc., etc., etc. In short there are a near infinite number of possible problems for which it would be very difficult/nearly impossible to program error trapping depending on your sourcing of content and how you process it before it reaches the player app. Think of it like trying to play a BD disc in an DVD player.
I'll call Apple support when I get a chance.
Chances are good that they will end up sending you back here. In any case, it is often a good idea to post a sample file for examination by other QT users. At the very least, they should be able to tell you if the sample file will play on other systems which would indicate whether or not the file itself is bad and under the best of circumstances whould allow them to examing the file in detail for various common problems.
