Hi, I need some peoples help on fixing my laptop. I have a macbook pro 13 inch 2010 model, and it refuses to boot into either osx or windows. Every time I prevoiusly treid to boot into mac osx I got this error "panic (cpu 1 caller 0x47f5ad)". there is an image below. and when I had treid to boot into windows (bootcamp) I got this error "A disk read error occured Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". I have treid to restart the computer and gotten both these errors agian. The strange things is this deosn't always happen, sometimes I don't get any errors, and it just has the apple logo whith the spinning loading thing happening below (I left this for an hour and it still kept spinning, and never loaded). Other times it just show white whith no errors but never loads, sometime it lets me alt to select which os to boot into (nether work), but other times it just freezes and shows a mouse cursor on the white background. it's not consistent.
Most recently it has a flashing folder on a white background. I treid inserting my osx disc and went into disc utility but it doesn't detect my hardrive. It may be a faulty hardrive or sata cable but I dont know (I have links below). I was recently (well for the first time), defragmenting my windows partition, it hit temparatures of 80-85C, and stayed at that for several hours throughout the defragmentation, would this have damaged it?
I have scoured the internet and found many people whith very similar problems to me but none whith the same, and A lot of people saying that if you get the error you should just use a time machine backup, the thing is I don't have a time machine backup. The internal hardrive I am currently using on my laptop is a seagate 640gb 5400rpm (it's not an apple harddrive). every thing else it standard, standard ram and no overclocking, I was running 10.6.8 snow leopard, and windows xp profesional 32bit (split 320gb each, whith about 10gb spare on each parttion).
It would be greatly appreiciated If any one could shed some light on what I should do. I need the laptop working whithin the week (for my tafe work), but If I have to reinstall the OS's and programs it could take a long0I have a lot of programs and that could take a month. not to mention The fact that the hardrive might be completly fine and it's just a faulty sata connection. but then would I still be getting an error if thats all thats wrong?. and if it is just the error is there anyway I can fix it whitout doing a fresh install, there a error reading document blow but I cannot make heads or tails of it. I also have almost no money to afford getting it fixed.
also one last thing, I stupitidely inserted my mac osx disc 95% of the way into my macs slot loading drive when it was powered down (off). when I turned it on it sucked it in fine, but would that have caused any damage to the disc or laptop (I cannot eject the disc to check)

The problem may be that your macbook is'nt set to 'mirror image' if you go into settings, onto 'displays' there should be an option within, once youre connected, to 'mirror image' if you check this box, then the problem should be sorted, if not then maybe a dodgy cable or adapter.

FIXED: MacBook Pro + DVI-to-Video Adapter + Windows

The Apple DVI-to-Video adapter (M9267G/A) never worked properly under Windows XP on a MacBook Pro (NVIDIA 8600M GT). The s-video and composite outputs produced a very distorted image under Windows, while the image was clear under Mac OS X.
Boot Camp 2.0 released with Leopard didn't correct this issue as the NVIDIA driver is the same as in Boot Camp 1.4 beta (ForceWare 101.34).
However, the new NVIDIA driver (ForceWare 167.44) released by Apple DOES fix this issue:

1. Download and run the executable to extract its files.
2. Open "setup.exe" in the expanded folder to install the driver.
3. Connect an s-video or composite display (TV) to the DVI-to-Video Adapter and reboot.
4. Once in Windows, right-click the Desktop and choose "NVIDIA Control Panel".
5. Choose "Run multiple display wizard" and select "TV" (not NTSC/PAL) as the second monitor. Select other options as appropriate to you.
You should now see your cloned/expanded Desktop on the TV.
(Please note that there appears to be a bug in the NVIDIA Control Panel, causing its window contents to flicker rapidly and become unresponsive. Close and re-open the program if this happens.)
Thank you Apple for addressing this for those of us still forced into doing a few things in Windows.

From fixed to posting carried

in FTR_edit, cash flow tab, I have one treasury deal with flow type Z110 (future purchase), my transaction type is "open", for this transaction type, I have two flow type Z110, Z111(charges) assigned, but when I use FTR_create, only Z110 is appeared in "cash flow"tab and "other flow" tab, why Z111 is not appearing in cash flow tab and other flow tab?
my cash flow tab is "fixed" due to wrong flow type design, I have already run TBB1, in order to change to posting carried out status for flow type, what steps I need to follow? how to unsettle contract?

From your description, Z110 is main flow (investment) of the deal, it will be displayed in cash flow if you have entered amount. Z111 should be "Other flow/condition" (see customizing "Define Flow Types"), it should be manually entered in "Other flows" tab or you can use derivation procedure defined in customizing "Derived flows" to derive flows automatically. Please refer to online help for details.
If you need to change the posting status of the main flow, you may have to reverse the transaction with FTR_EDIT -> reverse, activity "contract settlement" will be replaced by "Contract". You need to execute TPM10 to reverse in FI. See below online help:

Does Mavericks 10.9.4 Fixes MacBook Pro (2007) Overheating Issues?

I updated my wife's MacBook Pro 15" (late 2007) with Mavericks 10.9.2 when it was current, and the laptop was getting ridiculously hot. So we waited for the next release, 10.9.3, and it was still running hot so I reinstalled Snow Leopard.
The problem what that while going to sleep, either lid closed or opened, the laptop was stil running and running very hot with the fans constantly running. After a while, it would crash and keep on staying very very hot with the fan still going strong. A hard reboot is required to stop this.
Does anyone had issues with this and can confirm if 10.9.4 fixed it? I would not want to keep on formatting and reinstalling OSes for fun...
Other information:
I always install from a boot USB key on a freshly formatted disk (no updates here).
I also tried the usual PRAM and SMC reset a few times while on Mavericks with no success.
It's not an app as it was behaving like that right after the install and before I installed any app.
I also uninstalled a bunch of apps (like Office 11) one by one and nothing ever fixed the issue.
We would really like to use Mavericks on that MacBook Pro. It's quite a stable little machine with a brand new board from last summer (it was affected by the ATI GPU recall and the Apple Store replaced the board). I have also cranked up the memory to 6GB (it was also overheating before I replaced the memory) and when going back to Snow Leopard, I installed a little SSD (Crucial m500 120GB) for speed.
Any help would be appreciated!

One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install Mavericks, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. That keeps you from having to re-install another OS again.

Fixing transactions posted with the wrong currency rate.

Looking for the best solution to fix transactions that have been posted with the wrong currency rate. Transactions with System Currency (SC) and Local Curency (LC) have been posted with the wrong exchange rate. I am looking for best practice to corect each transactions. I have noticed and tested the "Conversion Difference" feature in SBO. This feature does help me change the exchange rate between SC and LC but for an the account balance on a certain date. I am looking to change all transactions from Jan01 to Jan 31 for all GL accounts. Is there a feature to do this?? You help is greatly appreciated,

I don't think there are any options to FIX this problem by out of the box function. Because all financial transactions have been entered to the system already, you have to reverse all of them and repost those transactions with the right exchange rate. No shortcut available.

Fixing a posted FF67 statement

I was halfway actually, through posting an FF67 transaction, when I noticed I had entered the ending balance incorrectly. There is only one bank statement item, and it was entered correctly. This screen I posted (Ctrl + S). This was where I realized my mistake in entering the ending balance. When I changed it to display the correct ending balance, I get the error message "Closing balance not correct." I did NOT hit Post at this screen, titled Process Manual Bank Statement. How do I fix this? Do I just need to change the statement number? If I need to change the statement number, how do I erase the erroneous statement.

The easy way to solve this issue (without having to delete the whole bank statement with special reports) is as follows:
1) It is not possible to change the begin- or end-balance in the starting screen, even when the amounts seem to be editable.
2) However there is an option if you proceed to the next screen, where you enter the individual bank statement lines. You proceed as by choosing menu path: Goto > Change Controls
3) A pop-up screen will appear. In this screen you are allowed to change the begin or end balance

Fixing macbook air with diskwarrior

I am trying trying to clean up/fix my 2012 Macbook Air (10.8.2) with Diskwarrior 4.4 which is on a bootable extrnal drive OS 10.8.2.
I have routinely done this before with both my Imac and Macbook Pro (both at 10.8.2)
My Air however, gives me an error codes of 2153,4903 saying that it can't be rebuilt because disk is "still in use". Which it is definately Not.
Q. Is the Air incompatible with Diskwarrior 4.4? (This is the latest version)

How is the system on the external drive related to the one on the MBA. If you made a clone from which you are booting, then it's quite possible the clone has retained connections to the MBA which in turn makes the DW system believe the MBA's drive is in use. This may be a false reading. Or you installed the DW application on the MBA and are running it from there rather than from your external drive.
Try opening Disk Utility on your external drive and selecting the MBA volume then clicking on the Unmount icon in the toolbar. Can you unmount the volume this way? If you can, then leave it unmounted and see if you can now get DW to work with it.
DW's application should be fine with Mountain Lion. You just cannot boot from the DVD, but must put it on an external drive or bootable USB flash drive in order to use it.

Reasonable time to fix Macbook for Shutdown issue

I dropped off my Macbook at the local Apple store on August 2nd to get my random shutdown problem fixed. Ever since August 3rd, its repair status has remained "On hold - Part on order". I have called Applecare several times about it, and keep getting a variant of the answer "We get parts in daily, so it could come in today and you'll have the computer back in a day or two." Is there anything else I can do besides wait?? Its getting increasingly frustrating to not have the computer available. I'm half tempted to buy another computer and sell the Macbook whenever it gets back. Any suggestions?

I sent mine in on Tuesday and had a door slip from Fedex for it's return on thursday (got it today because I wasn't home when FX delivered yesterday).
What did I do? Print out 3 threads from these forums and include them in the box with my Macbook. I think that helped some.

Just recieved my (refurb) macbook pro 2ghz

i just got it today and it didn't have the whine this morning, but now it does
maybe i just didn't notice it before, but i don't think so. it's a pretty obvious noise...and it seems to be intermittent on my machine...
I live in hawaii, and all i can hear is the birds, and my processor whine...it *****.
but the computer is really great other than that.
the serial number starts with "RM621...", it doesn't seem to fit into the "W*" format i've been seeing for serial numbers.... anyone know what thats about? maybe cause its a refurb?

I'd imagine it was changed due to being a refurb.
What you're experience is common. Often times after updates or after re-installation of the software, many of the "operating noises" cease. The only evidence I can support is my own since I have had to reformat 2-3 times due to problems with running Boot Camp. I imagine it has something to do with resetting the PMU amongst many things.
I think the only 2 choices are to wait for an "official" fix, or to try to send it back again.

Fixed Assets Posting period

We have a customer that accidently created a posting period for a Year, e. g. 2011-01, when it was supposed to be created for months (12). He then deleted the period from the Posting Periods in System Initialization and created the correct period, e.g. 2011. In the fixed assets add-on both periods remained and the add-on can´t be updated accordingly.
When they did the fiscal year change they changed from 2010 to 2011-01, instead of doing to the correct one, 2011. Then the fixed assets values were updated for the period 2011-01 (and not for 2011).
Now they need to do the depreciation run for January (and next months) and they can only select the option 2011 (can't select 2011-01). The depreciation runs but, in the end, doesn´t post anything in the journal entry.
What can I do to solve this issue?

When I try to do fiscal year change again i can't select the 2011 year, the field is automatically filled with 2011-01. Then I can´t update de fixed assets values for the period 2011.

Fix Macbook Pro or replace?

I am trying to debate whether or not I should fix my 2011 MacBook Pro due to water damage at a flat rate of $755 (they will replace literally everything inside) or replace it with a new Macbook for $1200 (I'm not sure how much tax is, but I'd be paying approximately 63% of a brand new computer to get my old one fixed). I guess I should mention I'm living in New York City and $500 is a lot of money for me...but this is something I would be using every single day and do want it to last me through grad school.
Everything was perfectly fine with my mac before the spill occurred. In fact, I was able to turn it on yesterday and everything worked great, but now it won't turn on and I am facing the inevitable of paying big bucks to get it fixed. I guess I am just wondering if I do pay to get everything inside replaced what's the difference between that and getting a new computer? Will my computer still only last a normal lifetime of 5+ years (from the date it was purchased) once everything inside it replaced or will I be essentially getting a "new" computer?

10.5.6 fixed MacBook fan problem

FYI - my MacBook (2ghz c2d, ~ 2 years old) has been running its fan at pretty near top speed regardless of its activity for several months, for no reason I was able to determine or fix. Installation of the 10.5.6 combo update fixed the problem, fan now runs silently until heat sink temperatures go above 60°C.

I went through the logs and this is all I could find with this morning's non-waking moment.

Has a fix been posted for OSX Lion causing Invalid Volume counts? Post installing OS Lion the new Recovery volume disabled my ExFAT volume shared with Bootcamp

I'm running a dual boot environment with OSX and Win 7. Before upgrading to OS Lion I had three partitions setup, one for OS SL, WIn7 and a shared ExFAT volume for multual file sharing between the OSs(Worked great!). After upgrading to OS Lion my shared volume was blocked out from Windows but remained visible to Lion. The Partition boundaries appear to be currupted by the newly added "Recovery HD" Partition that comes along with the Lion installation. This inserted volume has also started a chain of error in Disk Untility indicating "Invalid Volume File Counts". This can be cleaned up by Disk Utility using the installation CD or ironically the Recovery HD partition. The repair is only good for one reboot than the invalid Volume error returns. Windows seems fine outside of the lost shared volume but if you try to format the free space left behind by the partition issue major issues happen. Formatted actually creats a Dynamic disk switch and toasts all three volumes. OS Lion seems to be a wounded animal as I now have to reboot twice to get Lion to load up after setting up bootcamp. The problem is the partitions and OS Lion new Recovery HD. What I need is a fix to stabilize the OS Lion partition and restore the shared volume.

There are hundreds of postings describing your error and how to resolve it so I won't rehash those here. Use the search at the top right of this page to search for your error.
But I will advise you that Windows 7 32bit will not work satisfactorily for you. You said you have 8GB ram. 32 bit Windows will not address more than about 2.5GB to 3GB of your ram. You need to install the 64 bit Windows 7 in order for Windows to use all your ram.
When you bought the retail Windows 7 operating system it should have had two disks in the package, one being 32 bit and the other being the 64 bit version of Windows 7.
