Reclaiming ratings & playlists from ipod

Help!!! My wife wiped out my Itunes library. My cd collection (over 1000) was luckily on it's own hardrive so the music itself is still intact. the loss is about two years of rating each and every song and many killer personal playlists (not the easy to reproduce smartlists.
Is there anyway to recover the ratings and playlists that are still on my ipod? My marriage may depend on it. thanks Chris

I believe this might do want you need.

  • Transfer Playlist from iPod

    Hello,
I use an other PC, but I saved the music on a external hard drive. Now, I can listen to the songs, but I want to have my old playlists!
Is it possible to transfer the playlists from iPod to iTunes. I don't want to copy the music, only the playlists!
My old PC isn't available any more!
    Thanks in advance!

Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.

  • Can't sync playlists from ipod touch to new computer

Can't Sync Playlists from iPod Touch to New Library
I just upgraded from an old Pentium computer to a new Dell XPS 18 running Windows 8.1.  Downloaded latest version of iTunes to the new computer, then successfully transferred library content from the old computer to the new one via the external hard drive method.  All material -- iTunes purchases, music ripped from CDs, a movie, even MP3 files purchased long ago from another source -- transferred successfully; everything plays on the new computer just fine.
My problem is that the "old" playlists didn't transfer over.  After connecting my iPod Touch to the new computer, I verified that the iPod has the latest version of iOS, and its content (including the old/original playlists) displays in the window on the left-hand side of the iTunes screen.  The really frustrating thing is that I can find no way to transfer the old playlists to my new iTunes library.  I've tried dragging and dropping, selecting and pasting, and exploration of all the options menus, but no luck.  Creating a new playlist in the new library and then clicking on the "Add To" button opens up a window into which to drop dragged songs/folders from the new library listing, but simultaneously closes the left-hand display window with all of my iPod's current playlists depicted.
I appear successfully to have backed up my iPod to the new computer, but all the sync menu options are grayed out.  When I tried clicking on the Sync button, I got a warning that syncing to the new library would erase everything from the old library -- presumably obliterating my playlists with it.  I have about a dozen different playlists, some of them with several hundred songs, drawn from a library of a few thousand individual items.  Is there some means of importing/transferring the old playlists to the new computer/library, so that I don't manually have to drag and drop hundreds and hundreds of songs into a new set of playlists?  Am I overlooking something really obvious or simple?  Can I safely turn on Home Sharing and then import or paste the old playlists into the new computer's library.  I don't think I'm too much of a Luddite, but given the size of my library I'm very leery of turning on Home Sharing (to the old Pentium computer) after I've successfully transferred over many GBs of content from the old machine to the new.
    Thanks very much --

  • Moving playlists from ipod to itunes?

I've recently bought a new computer and ipod, no problems moving my itunes across, but the playlists (some of which took hours to create and maintain) are only on my old ipod.
Anyone know a way to move a playlist from ipod to itunes, sorry if I'm being stupid but I can't figure it out!

Sorry I can't help...but I have dumber question I think. I've bought songs at itunes store and they only download to one of the ipods I use when sync. does anyone know how to get the songs i've paid for on multiple ipods? thanks

  • Need to import playlists from iPod to iTunes

My computer was acting up the other day and I closed out of iTunes improperly. When I oped it up the next day all of my play lists were missing. And there is no music or movies in my library. I would rather not have to import all my music and videos back in and create new play lists. So is there any way I can import the play lists into iTunes? Or is there anything else I can do? I tried drag and drop into the play list section but it wouldn't let me. Please help.

Use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.

  • Transfer playlists from ipod to itunes on pc

This has probably been covered, I don't know, maybe a million times, BUT I had to reinstall my system software. Was able to back up music files on a friends server and they are now in itunes. The playlists did not transfer. Tons of man hours put into them. I have not synced my ipod since this occurred and it has all the playlists. I feel that if I sync it all will be lost. This seems like a really obvious and easy fix, like dragging a file or something. Laptop using XP pro. Any help would would be greatly appreciated and rewarded with kharmic bliss. Thanks!

If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • How can I copy playlists from ipod classic to ipod touch?

I have playslists in a classic ipod...I want to copy them to a new 5th generation touch...how can I do that?  I have tried to copy and paste playlists from the classic into itunes but it will not allow it.  Playlists only appear in itunes when the classic is plugged in.  Won't let me keep old playlists...help.

    Sync them via iTunes.
There is no way to move anything directly from one iDevice to another.

  • Can't delete a smart playlist from iPod - why?

    Hi all
I have an 80GB 5th gen ipod and want to delete a playlist from it - even if I uncheck the box it is still there - empty! It has a warning sign next to it on iTunes and it tells me it cannot delete it because it is dependent upon another smart playlist which no longer exists.
It is not a problem - I just want it to go away.
    Can anyone help pls?

I have the same Problem, i have repeatedly wiped and restored my ipod but still can't get them to go away. the only thing i can think of it to go to playlists and only update certan playlists. anyone got any better ideas?

  • Computer crashed- all new now. How to bring library and playlists from Ipod

My PC crashed and was pronounced DOA. All library and playlists were and still are on Ipod Classic (20GB). Obviously wasn't able to follow directions for normal transfer of lib. and p.lists as event not planned. Built completely new PC and loaded up Itunes. I had all my music library backed up on an external and can load, but is there any way I can save my 50 meticulously created playlists back into Itunes? Please say "Yes"!

Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.

  • How do i get my "on the go" playlists from ipod to library.

I have an ipod classic that I manually sync. For speed I make playlists using "on the go" and now have a number of these that I want to transfer from ipod to my library.  The only way I can think of doing this is to revert to automatic syncing. When I start to do this I get a warning message saying my ipod will be wiped and only content in the library will be sync'd. Does this mean I will lose any playlist created on my ipod ?  Can anyone advise please?

Despite the fiend's confident manner and his curt correction, I believe he is very mistaken about this.  I sensed this was baloney and kept looking, to find a thread in which the same is discussed for iPhone, but it worked on my Classic iPod as well.  (I don't mean to get overly down on a.f, but one should be careful and try to be sure before telling someon they can't do something that seems like a basic function that should by all reason be possible - Not that  all lack of reason doesn't often apply to these products...)
How to transfer playlist from iPhone to iTunes 11.1.3?
The procedure described here did work for me, but know this: if I hadn't somehow actively saved an on-the-go list long ago (and forgotten,) I never would have known, because although I have been selecting tons of tracks for "on the go," apparently it erases all lists when you power down, unless you do that deliberate save.  That's right; c beyond all sense of reason (case in point of above) the iPod does not continue to save selections in one growing on-the-go list unless you save it before shut-off.  Saving auto names that list and starts over.  So while I would like to have one big list in which to save all songs for future DJ choices, I will have to have a new list for every time I select even one single song before power off, or POOF gone.  Wish I'd known that before, I stupidly assumed 100 or more songs were saved cause I never checked.
Check it out and see if it works for you.  Cheers.  And no offense A.F.
I guess considering how tedious and dysfuntional this is (also not a first for Apple,)  I will find another way to earmark tracks on the fly, like use a star rating which I've never really used with consistency.  You might consider the same if you have similar purposes.  If you're sitting down and deliberately making a specific list all at once, save it and you should be good to "go."

  • HT1329 Transfer music & playlist from ipod to computer

My ipod does not work.  Dropped in water.  When I opened the itunes program I discovered that the device is recognized.  The itunes library for some reason does not show my music that was previously downloaded and the playlists that I created.  I also loaded some music from CDs that I own.  Is there some way to copy the music and playlists from the ipod to the computer so that I can import it to a new ipod?

  • Burn playlist from ipod nano  urgent

    ipod nano too full
need to take a few playlist off ipod
they will not drag to library
    or other playlist
i tried to burn them to cd
    but it wont highlight
i tryed new playlist but songs wont drag over

You would have to move the songs onto your computer from your iPod first and then burn them from your computer. iTunes cannot burn the songs if they are only on the iPod.
You can use free software such as this to move the music from iPod to computer...
