Recognising Sony PRS-T1 in Adobe Digital Editions

Why doesn't Adobe Digital Editions recognise my Sony PRS-T1 ereader?

  • I have a Sony PRS-300, is Adobe Digital Editions compatable with it?

My PRS-300 is not on the list of compatable e-readers... but the PRS-350 is.  Is my PRS-300 compatable?

There are bugs with ADE2.0 that mean the combination ADE2.0/Sony reader/Overdrive library book does not work correctly.
This is one of the vast number of bugs in ADE2.0.
There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0.  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

To use ADE (either version) with a Sony device you need to install Sony Reader.
    Download from https://ebookstore.sony.com/download/
Even if you don't use Sony Reader, it installs a device driver that enables ADE to interact with the Sony.
(Not sure why Sony makes this awkwardness that other devices don't have, it slightly marrs a really excellent lightweight ereader.)

  • Ebooks from Sony PC Reader to Adobe Digital Editions

I have a Sony PRS-T1. I also have Adobe Digital Editions installed on my computer. My Husband has a Kobo. When I purchase ebooks from various book stores they are automatically put into Sony PC Reader. When my husband wants ro read these books, I add them to ADE and then drop them onto his ereader (which appears as a book shelf). Recently when I have done this he has been unable to open the ebook on his device. Now I am noticing that when I try to put the ebook onto ADE, it gives me an error message that the "document is licensed for a different device". How do I fix this?
My understanding is that I can add the book to up to 6 devices, I am just trying to add it to a second device, and this has worked perfectly in the past????
Is there any way to avoid using Sony PC Reader ( I don't like it) and just use ADE to up load ebooks from the retailer and then to my Sony and the Kobo???

Unfortunately, the error comes from ADE reading the ID file of the ebooks
and then comparing it to the current ID.  That's the only time the error is
generated.  And it's possible that something has screwed up due to a change
    that seemed unrelated.
Let's take this a step further.
If something 'changed' recently, did you log into the Sony Reader Store in
that time frame?  Sony has updated their software, and that can occur
    without you seeing anything happening.
Have you been able to open any of the affected ebooks before?  Where did
you download them from - and if it was Sony Reader Store, did you put them
    into the Reader library?
Did you know that Sony tells us the PRS-T1 is not supported under ADE,
while ADE says it is?  I don't know how to rectify that.
Did you register the T1 with Sony using your current Adobe ID? (you
probably did but I had to ask)
Often, I forget a detail that, when I remember it, gives me the key to the
answer.  I've been doing that for a number of years, but my wife doesn't
give me credit for any of them.

  • (sony) `Ebook Library' to `Adobe Digital  Editions'

Searching here for ways to convert an (sony) `Ebook Library' format (*.lrx) to something the Adobe Digital Editions reader can read, I find long threads about converting the other way (adobe to sony) but not the reverse.
I have both freebie readers and have found the `Ebook Library' offered for download by sony, has a more extensive library easily accessed thru the reader in the genre I like to read (crime fiction/mystery).
I'm sure the same stuff is available somewhere on the net for the Adobe Digital Editions reader but with the `Ebook Library' I haven't had to search, just use there library.
The trouble is the reader part of `Ebook Library' sucks. Its pretty primitive compared to the adobe DE. For starters I can't reduce the size of type characters below a rather huge size. Even the smallest setting in the reader results in rather huge type. The reader is cumbersome and clunky in many other ways as well.
I vastly prefer reading with the Adobe DE. But do not like having to put so much time and energy into finding the books I want to download in Adobe DE format. Jumping around thru the various links I have for ebooks to find what I want instead of using the `Ebooks Library' to find it in one search/purchase combined move.
So how can I read the stuff downloaded in *.lrx format in Adobe DE. There is no intent to circumvernt DRM or some other sleaze... I don't mind paying for the books... I just want to read them in the software of choice, Adobe DE

While I'm glad that you like ADE, unfortunately as you have undoubtedly already figured out we only support PDF and ePub for viewing and do not support viewing of Sony's .lrf (unencrypted) or .lrx (DRM protected). I don't think that will change anytime soon (but I'm just an engineer and have been wrong about product directions plenty of times).
For non DRM Sony files there are plenty of convertors out there to use - although most of them focus on converting to .lrf so you can place the file on a Sony Reader. A good general resource for conversion tools, how well they work etc is the MobileRead Format Conversion forum
Other than that, the best I can do for you is to suggest some additional links to add to your various link you already have:
Feedbooks - provides free access to public domain material in a variety of formats including ePub http://www.feedbooks.com
    A Crime/Mystery filtered link:
    http://www.feedbooks.com/discover/list/books?type=Crime%2FMystery
ebooks.com - offers a wide varieties of books
    http://www.ebooks.com
(look for their fiction/crime section - they don't have a separate mystery section)

  • Why won't Adobe Digital Editions recognise my ereader?

I am trying to transfer an ebook to my Sony PRS-T2N reader using Adobe Digital Editions. However, the program does not seem to be recognising my ereader. Since it supports pretty much all the Sony readers, I assume it should be able to recognise mine too. Any ideas on how I can get it to recognise my e-reader?
    Thanks!

  • My PRS-T1 can't be seen in Adobe Digital Editions

I can not get Adobe Digital Editions to see my PRS-T1.  This is where all of my books from the Reader Store are that are not available from Kobo, but I can't get them to download onto my reader.

    Hi
PRS-T1/T2/T3 are not Adobe Digital Editions supported devices. (PRS-T1 contains, only, Adobe® Reader® Mobile software under license from Adobe Systems in order to be authorized on Adobe DRM).
If you want to synchronize your e-reader device with PC’s contents, you have to use Reader for PC(Mac) software. (First you have to import ebooks on ReaderforPC and then synchronized with PRS-T1).
    Here all info:
    Reader For PC(Mac):
    http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=PRST1&template_id=1&region_id=1&tab=download#/downlo...
(select OS and then click on READER/EBOOK LIBRARY to download/install SW (or you can find an older version on PRS-T1 removable media named “SETTING”))
“How to” and other info, PRS-T1’s manual:

    http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=PRST1&LOC=3#/howtoTab
The default folders on your PC, in order to find and import ebook files are:
Adobe Digital Editions: C:\Users\[USER name]\Documents\My Digital Editions
    Reader for PC: C:\Users\[USER name]\Documents\My Books\Reader

  • My sony ereader will not connect to Adobe Digital Editions

My sony ereader will not connect to Adobe Digital Editions even though my computer is authorized

When you register your ereader with SONY, you'll need to make sure that the
Reader Library entries were created on your hard drive for the ereader to
work properly.  Only some of them are supported by ADE.  There's a list in
    the HELP section of ADE.
Also, there have been some problems with the PRS-T1 model.
    Hope this helps!

  • Sony Reader - Adobe Digital Editions DRMed books causing crashes

    Hi,
Hopefully someone has seen this behaviour before and knows how to solve it.
I'm in the UK with the UK version of the Sony PRS-505 eBook Reader which runs software version 1.2.00.18050. I've installed the Sony eBook Library and the Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) software on Windows XP and they both worked perfectly. The 'free' books that came with the Reader install just fine as do free books from places like feedbooks.com.
However, when I want to buy a book, things go badly wrong. ADE sees the Reader and I can register it. I then tried to download a book from the Waterstones online store (Waterstones are the UK partner for Sony). The file transferred and looks fine inside ADE.
However, when I copied the file to the Reader's internal memory and unplugged it from the computer, things began to go wrong. The spinning refresh icon appeared and the Reader reset, rebooted, up came the refresh icon, reset, reboot - and so on and on and on...
I performed a hard reset on the Reader, re-registered it with ADE and tried installing the DRMed book on the SD card. After unplugging the Reader, it began to endlessly reboot just as before. Removing the card stopped the rebooting and the Reader behaved as normal. Delete the book from the card, plug it back in and the Reader is happy - so it's definitely something to do with the book or the DRM on the book. I've tried a couple of titles and each of them do the same thing.
After pleading for help on a mobileread forum, another UK user has had exactly the same problem. He has had his Reader exchanged for another one but that too is crashing when he tries to use DRMed content.
So has anyone here seen this problem? I'm completely stuck as Waterstones, from whom I've bought it are passing the buck to Sony and they are almost certainly going to pass it on to Adobe.
Any help would be HUGELY appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mike.

    Update Two:
I zorched the Reader, then reloaded ALL content to a Memory Stick. Once this had completed it's initial scan, it would refresh in a couple of minutes when accessed with Sony's software, then detached from the computer.
I next re-authorized the Reader and added a single protected book via ADE to the internal memory of the Reader, with the MS removed. This book was the only thing in the Reader. It loaded, but the Reader took a relatively long time to refresh after disconnect (like 25 seconds, with only one book). I can access the book without a problem.
Next I installed the MS. It took about six or seven minutes, but it came up OK (about 200 books on there). After that I connected the Reader to the computer for a minute or two and then detached it. It completed the two refresh cycles in about 30 seconds (internal memory then the MS).
Next I plugged it into the computer and accessed it with the Sony software. I then ejected it via the software and unplugged it and it's been stuck in a refresh cycle ever since. I expect it to crash if I wait long enough, but I'll probably pull the card after finishing this post.
Something is happening to the Reader that is causing it to be VERY slow about scanning external memory after it's authorized by ADE.
Next experiment is to see if what happens with just a dozen or so books only on the internal memory.
    UPDATE 3:
So I put about a dozen books in the internal memory, no external cards. That refreshed in about 5 seconds after detaching from the Sony software. I then added four more protected books via ADE. Detaching from the computer after that the Reader took about two minutes to refresh the content (now only 16 books, 5 protected by ADE).
Adding a few more books from the Sony software caused about a two minute refresh cycle. Next detach with Sony software was very fast (no changes, just listing the contents) as was one where I added a single file.
I'll keep adding stuff to the internal memory to see what happens.
Finally, I'd note that when the Reader hangs the spinning arrows are frozen, or only move once a minute or so, as opposed to spinning rapidly but for a long time.
I think you can recreate this problem if you just load up an external memory device with a 150 or so books from your favorite public domain source, then start adding a few protected by ADE. Users with 650+ books have reported that it only takes their readers about three minutes to refresh the contents after unhooking the from the computer, so I'm pretty sure something is amiss here.
Thanks again for looking at this. I can keep swapping stuff around manually, but I really liked having all my books on the Reader so I can pick and choose while on trips. Not being able to use the memory expansion is a significant drawback.

  • Is PRS-950 Compatible with Adobe Digital Edition?

I was trying to check out books from my local public library and then transfer it to my new PRS-950 but the Adobe Digital Edition won't recognize the Reader, so I cannot authorize the reader with Adobe ID. How do I fix this problem? I also have the Sony Reader Library, which does not import the .acsm file downloaded from the local public library website. Any suggestions? Thanks.

When you download the acsm file from the public library (ebook epub format), choose to Open it. That will cause Adobe Digital Editions to automatically start up and download the book. To find out where the file was placed, go to the Reading/Item Info menu in Adobe Digital Editions. My books were placed in /My Documents/My Digital Editions folder. Now go to Sony Reader Library to the File/Import Files menu, to the directory where Adobe Digital Editions saved your epub file, select the file and now it's in the Sony Reader Library and you have whatever time the library gave you to read it (2 weeks in my case). Hope this helps.

  • Problem copying Epub files to Sony 505 for library ebooks using Adobe Digital Editions.

I am using Adobe Digital Editions to copy library ebooks to my Sony 505 using a Vista Home Premium 64 bit machine.
Adobe PDF files successfully copy and are readable.
However, when a subsequent copy is done for any Epub book from the library the previously copied PDF files change
to proprietary on the 505. They are unreadable and show as one page long.  The Epub book is the only library book that is
    now readable.
I have all of the latest software on the PC (it is only one month old) and the latest firmware on the Sony 505.
I have also reformatted my internal memory on the Sony 505, but this did not have any affect.
    Any suggestions?

You could have the issue whereby .acsm files do not get properly registered.

One solution to may issues with ADE2.0 is to use the more reliable v1.7.2,
Try that and see if it helps.

  • Need help w/ Adobe Digital Edition (ADE) to download to Nexus 7 using Sony eReader

I am wondering if I can download an etextbook on Adobe Digital Edition (ADE) from my labtop to my Nexus 7 using Sony eReader.
I am trying to do this and coming up w/ this problem on my Nexus 7 - Sony eReader currently.
It will not accept Adobe ID under "Adobe ID Confirmation" on Sony eReader.
    It also says:
ATTENTION:  You need to enter the Adobe ID originally associated with your Reader Store account.  Usually, this ID is automatically created.
Do you know will these programs/devices be compatable w/ each other?   If not can I use Ipad as a last resort?

You should install an Adobe DRM compatible app on the Nexus 7.
I suggest Bluefire; also consider Akdiko or Overdrive but some people have issues registering them. Some tablets come with such an app preinstalled.  Authorize the tablet from within the app to use your Adobe ID (details vary from app to app, usually somewhere within Settings)

  • Sony reader de-installation messes with adobe digital editions?

after sony reader programme took over my whole computer I removed the programme. unfortunately now adobe digital editions won't read any books any more. I remove and then reInstalled but it isn't helping at all. anyone know how to fix this?

When you have ADE (digital editions) open with  "bookshelves" page with a "Getting Started with Adobe Digital Editions" booklet in it,
    enter cmd-shift-U, or menu/Help/Authorize Computer.
That will ask for your Adobe ID and password and authorize the computer.
Once that has been done you shouldn't need to do it again.
Sometimes you do need to if things go wrong, but you certainly shouldn't have to do it at all regularly.
When that has been done, plug in the Kobo; it should show up in the left pane of ADE.
Use "menu/Help/Authorize Device" and that will authorize your Kobo with the Adobe ID from the Mac.
You can then copy books by drag-dropping onto the Kobo within ADE

how do i get adobe digital editions to recognise my ereader

Some are not supported/recognized at all.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

  • Can no longer see my purchased books in Adobe Digital Edition software

Because my purchased books are no longer listed on my Adobe Digital Edition software, they can no longer be downloaded into my E-Reader (due to Rights protection).  I do not understand why they disappeared from the Purchased list.  I would like Adobe to Re-install into my purchased list all my purchased books.  Would like some help with that.

Very nice device the PRS-350, my wife and I both have them.
Not exactly sure how much you have updated, so some of these comments may not be to the point ....
Copying to the Sony should have worked as long as it is still registered with the ID used when you bought the books.
Maybe the Sony lost its registration when you did Sony updates, and you need to reregister it?
Nothing will work with a different ID; you can change the email address assocated with the old ID,
but can't read books with a device registered with a different ID or transer them to a new ID.
Probably when you updated your software ADE lost its repository.
Adobe does not remember your books in any 'cloud' associated with your ID,
the ID is just used to unlock the files you still have that are associated with the ID.
Try opening the books on the USB on ADE (ctrl-O, menu/File/Add to Library).
They should then appear again in the ADE library and you should be able to copy to the Sony (assuming registrations all correct).
Or, if you want the books always available on the computer even without the USB,
copy from USB to computer, then use ADE to open the copies on the computer.
If ADE won't read the books either it is probably not correctly registered (with the original ID).
One possibility is that ADE got confused about registration when you reinstalled (it often does).
    See ***1 note at end.
Also, there is a bug in ADE2.0/2.0.1 that means they Sony devices won't work with library books on that ADE release.
If you want to use library books, use the older more reliable version of ADE.
    See ***2.
    Good luck.
    ****1
Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people.  Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. If you are using 10.7, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1265248?tstart=0
