Recognition Issue

My iPod nano 6th gen is not recognized by both my windows 7 computer and itunes. To note I have had this iPod for about a year and worked fine before downloading the new itunes. I have tried downloading the new itunes, uninstalling itunes then reinstalling, restarting my iPod, and the systems configuration all mentioned in the troubleshooting. But still no luck, any suggestions?

I am having the exact same issue, to the letter. Could you please tell me what you did? Where do I go to change previously installed drivers?
I would really appreciate any help!

  • Printing colour recognition issue with illustrator created design.

I have a macbook pro with retina display and illustrator Cs 6.
For some reason, when I tried to print my illustrator designed work at the professional printing service.
it said there are colour recognition issue. I wasn't sure if that is anything to do with the Illustrator Cs6 or to do with the retina display or the printing service.
I would like to know if anyone have the same issue, and how do you resolve it.
    Thanks.

    Ahhh,
The colour mode is websafe HEX is the design work by the looks of it and the print is using CMYK mode. Try changing the document's colour mode to CMYK from RGB and see if the blue looks darker. It should do.
Take a look at the image I've attached. I've created both RGB and CMYK variations of the hex colour #0099BA.
I think it's just down to a difference in colour mode between digital version and print. There are some really great comparison sites available that will give you a close conversion if your matching spot and PANTONE® colours too.
Let me know if your any closer to a resolution please. Interested to see what the issue is.

  • Facial Recognition issues

So I have a few issues.
    1) In iPhoto I noticed the more faces that I put in anyone person the higher the sucsess rate or finding more similar faces.  Thus when I would show un-named faces I could just click conirm yes or no.  In Aperture, I have rougly 10,000 faces from several hundred people that I have put in.  Example my daugher, I have 690 photos of her with her face properly identified.  However, while Aperture does an amazing job finding faces, and car rims, and tree branchs it does no longer suggest thier names.  I have to manually put each one in.  With other 50,000 imges with probably 150,000 people in it.  So how do I get aperture to suggest faces anymore?
    2) Also in iPhoto it would tell me how many more pictures I have to identify that are unknowns and in Aperture I can't figure out how many I have left to do.  Is there a way to see that?
    3) I have my facebook set up in Aperture, however in iPhoto when I typed in a name that was on facebook it would show the persons face next to theri name.  In Aperture I see the gray box with no face.  This makes me think my names are not connected or connecting to the internet.  The strange thing is, I can add photos to facebook so the online connecivity would apear correct.
To explain how I got to this which may help you figure out a solution.  I initally had a folder with all my photos on it on my PC.  I moved the folder to my iMac, from there, I imported them all into iPhoto.  When I got Aperture, I imported all my iPhoto work wich took about 7-8 hours.
Thank you in advance for your help, suggestions, and

    Andrea
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running? Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements are standalone products, each coming with an Elements Organizer. Same version, with both on the same computer they share the same Elements Organizer catalog.
All that being said....your question has somehow been posted in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum (video editing) and not the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum (photo editing).
It would be to your advantage to post your thread in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum so that people like Barbara Brundage, MichelBParis, dj_Paige and others can work with your on your Elements Organize facial recognition questions.

  • Infuritated with iphone 3gs recognition issue

For the past month I've been trying to resolve an issue with an iphone 3gs running OS 4.3.4. This phone is not detected by any pc/laptop or itunes. This issue is heavily reported everywhere with a multitude of apparent solutions, I swear to god I've tried everything multiple times except doing a factory reset which i'll be damned if I do.
Now this iphone used to connect/sync fine all the time without issue, we didn't update or sync it with the laptop for about a month and during that period obtained an ipad 2. We set up the ipad 2 on the same itunes account without issue. Later I finally went to update to iOS 5 on the iphone 3gs. This is when I first detected the issue. The phone was no longer being recognized at all. It doesn't show up in my computer, itunes doesn't detect it, it doesn't pop up in the device manager when connected and even the camera isn't recognized.
As I stated, I've tried everything except factory reset.
    I've tried;
    1) Changing cables- the official one that came with it, one with iphone 4s, ipad 2 cable, spare cable, 3rd party short cable, 3rd party long cable. No difference. none of these cablesd allow the phone to be detected, none of the phones allow the iphone to pick up a charge from a usb connection EXCEPT the 3rd party black one.
    2) Using all above cables on 2 different laptops, 3 different pcs. Exactly the same as above.
    3) Everything on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
    - Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    - Have restarted the apple mobile device support service several times
    4) Itunes is completely up-to-date I have reinstalled itunes about 5 times now, i'll be loathed to do it again. I've repaired, I've followed guides to completely remove all traces of itunes/quicktime/apple including from registry, and then reinstalled.
    5) I've entered revovery mode and tried everything listed here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
    6) I've disabled and removed any potential 3rd party software including anti-virus.
    7) I've tried removing potentially erroneous pictures created by apps or obtained by means other than directly from the iphones camera.
    8) Tried removing lock on phone
    9) Tried taking pictures on phone to bring camera up on windows.
    10) Carefully and thoroughly cleared and cleaned the inner contacted for the usb connection cable on the phone.
    11) Updated all intel based drivers (usb/motherboard) and reinstalled them.
    NOTHING is working.
The itunes account for the phone is installed on a windows vista pc, as stated earlier it used to always work without issue. I can't see how the issue wis with the laptop as it is not recognized in the same manor on other devices.
There are 2 or 3 things that could be potentially causing the issue. My main thought is something to do with the install of the ipad 2. The ipad 2, on the same laptop, IS recognized, by both the laptop and itunes, in other words, there are absolutely no issues with the ipad 2 which the iphone 3gs has.
If I connect say my iphone 4 to the laptop (or any other device) it IS recognized. In other words every other apple device, be it iphone, itouch or ipad works with every laptop/pc i have except the iphone 3gs.
To clarify, the iphone 3gs is working absolutely fine on it's own, it just isn't being detected by anything. The iphone 3gs charges absolutely fine on a official apple power cable with plug.
My phone has never been and is NOT jailbroken.
There are some slight discrepencies to information in this article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 pertaining to the Apple mobile device USB driver.
With the iphone 3gs, as mentioned, when connected, it does not appear in the device manager. All my other apple devices do appear. For example the ipad 2 and the iphone 4, however, slightly differently as described in the article. The apple mobile device usb driver appears not under "Universal Serial Bus Controller" but under "Portable device". When the iphone 3gs is connected "Portable device" isn't even listed (as the phone is not recognized).
Ive tried connected the iphone 4 on one cable then the 3gs on another but only the iphone 4 is detected on the pc/itunes still.
All I stated it as a potential issue I don't truly believe the installation of the ipad 2 is the reason as other devices work fine.
Another possiblilty is to do with the picture issue, this has been reported alot around the web and is by far the most bizarre issue. If this was indeed the porblem I'd be beyond infuritated, consider the phone has thousands of pictures from a multitude of origins, be it the camera, bluetooth, emailed, downloaded, another camera app, an editing app. Bare in mind this is over a number of yeears and has not caused issues, then suddenly, it is. And the solution, delete the pictures that didn't come directly from the camera, i don't even need to state how nigh on impossible that is, for myself, i'd have to delete every single picture to ensure I got them all. The problem there? As is the major problem? As is the reason I can't just factory reset? The phone hasn't been backed up in a long period of time, I'd be losing far too much. The bottom line, this absolutely should not be happening and there has to be a simple yet not obvious fix for this.
The final possiblity? The usb port on the phone is faulty? Now bare in mind it gets a charge from being plugged into a socket (non-usb) and also gets a usb charge from a single 3rd party cable? Could this really be the issue? Would it make sense a charge is possible but not detection? It's definately not the cable, so that would leave the physical port on the phone? As i stated earlier I've cleaned this properly and ensured there's no signs of physical damage. The phone is obviously no logner under warranty and I honestly don't beleive it's damaged to the extent it won't be recognized.
I've probably missed a fair few things out i've tried to resolve this, but this is lengthy enough for now. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I would love to resolve this without having to attempt a factory reset or delete all the photos. If there was a way to mass send every photo at once via email or bluetooth I'd try that then delete them, is there? I mean i do NOT want to be doing this one at a time. I really need to get the phone detected so i can backup my phone and (if then possible) transfer the data to my new iphone 4s (in the post!).
I love apple but this issue is quite disgusting and it's very apparent and widespread, there's just too many possibilities to it and unfortunately all the above don't seem to be helping.
    Thanks for reading!

It COULD be the photos; the Camera Roll was never intended to be permanent storage; it is for temporary photo storage until the photos can be transferred to a computer, just like you would do with any other digital camera. However, the problems that you have read about with corrupt images only prevents the Camera Roll from being accessible on the computer, it does not interfere with syncing.
It could also easily be a hardware issue with the phone. I consider this the most likely. However, here is something desperate you can try (desperate only because it may not work; it isn't going to hurt anything): Open a Windows command line with Administrator privileges, and type:
       netsh  winsock  reset
For your photos, you have a couple of options.
Dropbox (www.dropbox.com) - Open a free Dropbox account on your computer, install the free Dropbox app, then copy the Camera Roll photos to the Dropbox Photos folder. They will appear in the dropbox folder on your computer as if by magic.
Picasa (picasa.google.com) - Open a free Picasa account. Purchase the MyPics app for the iPhone (not free, but inexpensive), and upload all of your photos to Picasa using MyPics
There are other apps with similar functionality, but these are the easiest to use.

  • 3GS iPhone Backup, Recognition Issues With iTunes 9.2

Since "upgrading" to iTunes 9.2, our computer's iTunes can no longer successfully back up my 3GS iPhone (always encounters an "unknown error") and it will no longer recognize my husband's iPhone 3GS at all. Because I upgraded iTunes before installing the OS 4 iPhone update on my husband's iPhone (although not my own), it seems to me that the problem is with the iTunes software update itself, not the iPhone OS update. I searched the forums, and saw that others seem to be having similar issues, although I didn't see a solution anywhere. Does anyone know of a solution, and/or whether Apple is working out whatever this bug is with iTunes 9.2? UGH - so. frustrating. Thanks!

just an fyi...i set up mobileme yesterday and had all my contacts, calendars, etc. synced and ready to go. so i hooked up my iphone to itunes and i "set up as new" and it didn't delete anything and it just synced fine.
i'm not saying the same thing will happen to yours but it seems that just going through the new iphone setup as a new phone just worked. i wouldn't do a restore unless it's really recent.
so, go ahead and try to just set up as new and you should be fine...i was.

  • Strange ipod recognition issues?

using my macbook pro, my 1st gen shuffle is recognised as an old 3rd gen windows ipod with no serial number or software version showing. when i dock it to my other machines (a macbook and another macbook pro) it shows up fine and as an up to date shuffle. what gives?
all these machines run the latest version of itunes, and yes ive reinstalled itunes already a few times in the machine thats giving me trouble but still with the same result!
what is up with THIS version of itunes that it doesnt consider my shuffle as a shuffle and another one does?
is there a particular part or preferece of itunes that makes this decision that i can try trashing?
are there too many questions in this post?

  • DVD Recognition Issue

I have made several home DVD's via a Sony DVD direct recorder, model VRD-MC3.
When I put the DVD in my imac, all it shows is a blue folder with VRD_MC3 and a red
    circle with a in it.
My issue is that it shows no data. When I go to Get Info about the disk it is in Universal
    Disk Format.
Why will it not show the contents? My ultimate goal is to use software to burn some images from my disc to my Ipod. Popcorn doesn't recognize the disk, nor do others. Is this a system issue?
Also, I'm burning these to a Sony DVD-R disc. Help!

No idea why you can't open it... maybe some protected "feature"?
When you do a Get Info on it, is the box to Ignore Ownership on this Volume checked?
Don't know if this helps, but...
I convert to DVD's using the Sony VRD MC3. I then take these clips and using handbrake or streamclip convert to mov files or mp4 files.

  • Firewire HD recognition issues

I've got a WD MyBook Pro (I think it's the pro, not 100% sure) plugged into my MacBook Pro via Firewire and the mac isn't recognizing the drive. When I run the system profiler & look at the FireWire Bus information it says Warning: Unable to list FireWire devices.
I've plugged the same HD into a PC and an iMac and it read fine, so the issue is definitely on the MacBook side of things. Any suggestions, or is my firewire humped on my laptop?

First thing to do is reset the USB chip set on the mother board. Unfortunately, when you power down the computer there is always a bit of power still applied to the motherboard to keep things alive and this usually includes the ports to do stuff like detect when a device wants to wake up the computer. The downside of this is when a bus/port chipset goes into a weird state, locks up, etc., simply power cycling (shutdown & restart) the computer won't work.
So first thing to try is resetting the chipset and to do this you have to power down the computer and completely unplug the computer from the wall power (unplug the power cord to your Mac) & REMOVE THE BATTERY. Also unplug everything from the Mac's ports (USB, FW, Ethernet, etc.) to make sure no parasitic power is still there to keep the chipset alive. Now let it sit for a minute (give those big power caps in there time to discharge). Now plug the power cord back in, reattach the battery, & start up the Mac. Now plug in accessories/hard-drives and see if your USB ports are any better.
    Best of luck!

  • Strange Recognition Issue - Nano

We have four iPods in the house. This question specifically relates to a recent issue with the Nano (4gig).
We have iTunes on two computers and have not had an issue until yesterday. Right now, when we connect the Nano to one of the computers, iTunes displays '20 GIG' instead of the normal name of the iPod ("Liz's Nano"). This is the first time I've seen this
If we plug any other iPod into that machine, everything is as expected. If we plug the Nano into the other machine, iTunes on that machine recognizes it fine.
I have updated the "problem" machine's iTunes software but it did not solve the issue.
So in essence on one machine only, and for one device only, there is no list of music on the device and the device is recognized incorrectly.
    Can you help?
    Peace,
    Tony
      Windows XP

Man, you are good. Yes the folder shows up as drive K.
Now I need some additional help if you don't mind - I read the instructions on the link you provided, and it basically says to "Locate the iPod and right click on it, then click Change Drive Letter and Paths."
The ipod isn't listed under Disk Management in that Control Panel Applet.
Additional info. My drive letters go C: through I: from HD's to removable media; then network drives begin at letter K: - yes, the same letter that this control folder is showing up as.
I think I know how it happened; we plugged two iPods into the same computer, one would have been J:, the other, K: - thereby conflicting with the network drive K: (at least that's my supposition).
So the question at this point is, how do I fix it since I can't really follow the instructions on that link - unless I should just re-map the network drives (which probably isn't a bad idea anyway).
    Thoughts?
    Peace,
    Tony

  • IPod Nano 2gen recognition issue!

Ok, my girlfriend got a 2nd gen ipod nano and is computer illiterate. SO, she thought hey, i'll just give it to my friend to load songs on. So the first time that it was connected to a computer was on her friends computer. then i went over and installed itunes while she was at school, and typed out a guide to the basics, all that jazz.
i get a call that night and she said its not working. crap. i walked her through some stuff, and it turns out, its not being recognized in iTunes or My Computer. The apple help sites say to reinstall the software on the cd that came with the ipod....except they dont have cd's with those ipods.
what do i do? Did using it with the other computer jack everything up? What do i need to do?

No. Look at the link and read the symptoms. First symptom states: "iPod does not show up in iTunes or as disk in Windows Explorer." This is why I pointed out that you needed to look through all of the links to see if they are helpful. Just looking at the title is not enough since the titles tend to be general.
Link for article I am referring to
You may also want to double check and make sure your girlfriends computer has the correct service pack for her OS if you have not already.

  • Graphics card issue recognition issue

I purhcased the 15", 16G, i7 ect. Standard, no upgrades. On the site it says it has the Intel Iris graphics card, AS WELL as the NIVIDIA Geforce, but when I go to "about this system" it lists as the Iris card. Is this just due to the automatic graphics switching? Can someone clear up the whole dual graphics thing for me. Thanks.

    Yes.
You can manage your card with the software gfxCardStatus. http://www.http://gfx.io

  • Imported MP3s: ID3 tag character encoding recognition issues

My ID3 tags are encoded in Windows Code Page 932, but iTunes have misinterpreted them as MacRoman encoded. How can I correct this? Fortunately, I also have the pre-import original files aside from the copies managed by iTunes, but I believe iTunes is already smart by not modifying the binary upon import.

Hopefully, but I'm not too sure. If  one launches Notepad.exe in the Japanese edition of Windows 7, then chooses to save new text in "ANSI" encoding, it still saves the text file in Windows Code Page 932 (which is not ANSI per proper definition of ANSI).
These ID3 tags were from MP3s that were sleeping in my external harddrive for years, which I finally decided to import into my local drive, now that I have terabytes of storage.

  • PXI Chassis recognition issues

    Hello all,
    I am using LV 8.2, XP, PXI chassis 1024Q, PXI-5122 digitizers, PCI-6259
I had a complete system error (very nasty virus) and needed to wipe the computer and re-install all labview drivers.  Previously I had been using my system for about 1 year with no problems.  Upon re-installing everything I am having trouble recognizing my DAQ cards and PXI Chassis Digitizers.  I have attached a .jpg of what my DAQ card hierarchy looks like in MAX.  Before the re-install my PCI card was in the NI-DAQmx devices as Dev 1, and my digitizer cards where in the PXI System section, as Dev2, slot 2, slot 3 etc.  Now MAX tells me that my PXI system is undefined and also includes my PCI card in the PXI section.  I can not communicate with any of my devices even though MAX tells me all devices are working properly.  Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this problem?  Does the device installation sequence matter?
    Thanks,

You have only one 6259, right? The 6259's entries are indicative of having moved the card into a different slot from the last time MAX looked at the configuration. Assuming you have one 6259, delete the one with the X through it.
And I always give my cards an alias instead of leaving the default "DEV 1", etc.

  • XDcam file recognition issue

hello all, thanks in advance for your help. I recently bought a sony pmw-ex1. I also bought a sony card reader and started offloading footage onto a western digital external hard drive, via my old G-4 and usb. needless to say it took forever. the first time i offloaded footage, it was in a file called BPAV.
the next time I tried to drag and drop the folder from the card reader, it prompted me to change the name of the file so as not to have to overwrite the existing file. standard procedure. I did so, and changed the name of the file to BPAV 2. I did this several more times. I was never able to view the clips on my G-4, but i knew the info was there because it took up gigabytes of space on the external Anyway, i recently bought a macbook pro and dowloaded the sony clip viewer and driver for the XDcam clips (mpeg4s). When i opened the clipviewer app it could only find the clips that were actually IN the original BPAV folder. The other folders it could see, but it could not see the clips at all. I copied one of the folders onto my hard drive and renamed it BPAV, and sure enough the clipbrowser could see it. When i tried to take the contents of one of the renamed folders and copy it into either of the folders named BPAV it did not see those clips.
What have i done wrong? And how do I fix it. I just want to view the clips for now. I don't have FCP on this computer yet. I wont' be able to buy the FC studio package until the first of next month.
    Thanks again.

You should NEVER rename your BPAV folder, and you should always use Clip Browser to copy your sxs files, not finder, as it has crc checking to prevent corruption. Many people do, safer if you don't. XDCAM transfer was looking for the name BPAV.
Rename the files back to BPAV, putting each one in a separate folder by some organizing reference like date. Then point xdcam transfer to each location and it will bring in the clips.
