Recognizes DVD Burner but Ejects Disk on Build

Suddenly Encore will not burn my project to a disk.  I am running Win 7 (Encore CS6) and this particular HP drive has worked in the past with Encore, but not today.  When I Refresh it finds it but won't display the write speeds for this drive.  When I select Build, it ejects the disk and says to put media in it and try again.  Course, that's the start of a loop.
Anyone knows what's going on?
Scott

My update.   Restore did not result in any changes.  That's hours I will never get back.
To be honest, I've not had stability issues with Encore.
I will check one other thing before I give up and that is, I installed an LG DVD burner (internal) and it may be that Encore hasn't cooperated since that install.  I don't recall, but it's worth removing the DVD altogether (I disabled it via Device Manager).
Will get back.
Getting back. . .   No happiness.  Very frustrated.

  • USB ports could not recognize DVD Burner and WD Portable disk

    Hello all,
This is my first question to ask here about X1 Carbon. I hope you could help. I was trying to install a software using the Lenovo slim dvd burner, but the usb ports of the laptop didn't recognize it. Also, I tired to install the software using my portable HDD (Western Digital A08 Elements), but the usb ports of the laptop didn't recognize it as well. I plugged a usb thumb driver into the usb ports; it did recognize it!!! But I really need my dvd burner to be detected. I will appreciate if you could suggest an appropriate solution to my problem.
    Thank you

  • Buying an External DVD Burner, but system requirement says Windows

I am thinking about buying an LaCie DVD Burner, but the problem is that the system requirement calls for Windows.
However, since Macs are all plug in play, will it work by just plugging it in, and then running the copy of Toast I already own?

Have you considered getting one of their FireWire versions? I know they're pricier, but they fully support them working with OSX.
Here's a review from an Amazon.com of their USB-only desktop drive where the author claims it works fine with OSX and a Core Duo MacBook as well as a MacBook Air. It seems a bit strange since it talks about bus power when I thought it only operated off of external power.

  • Installed New DVD burner, but it will not burn DVDs

I just installed a new Pioneer DVR-112D DVD burner but when I try to burn a DVD with iDVD 4 it will not burn a DVD. It looks like iDVD 4 will get to stage 4 of the process but it will not finish burning the DVD. Can anyone help me out?

i bough a new imac, this haven't dvd burner, i bought a external dvd burner but the imac havent a idvd and i need this program, no other one, how to download this and install?

    Hi
how to download this and install?
There are no free DownLoads !
There are no legal DownLoads at all !
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
only You can buy from Apple is
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.

  • Windows server 2012 R2 does not recognize DVD burner as read/write device

I've seen problem fixes for this on Windows 7 but nothing on 2012 R2.
I changed the drive letter on the server (2012 R2 with all current updates) and now it does not recognize the working DVD burner as a read/write device.
The device does work correctly with other Operating Systems on the same hardware.  The box is a Lenovo D30.
Any idea as to how to go about this fix.  All Microsoft troubleshooter downloads run and say the problem was corrected but no luck in burning anything.

  • DVD burned from a disk image won't work on different computers???

Under the directions for how to burn a DVD from an disk image, the Apple Help document (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93006) says this:
"Note: When burning a disc from a disk image, the burned disc will have the same format as the disk image. If you need a disc that will work on different computers, burn the disc in the Finder."
Does this mean that the DVDs that I am burning from the disk image won't be able to be played on a PC? a Mac other than mine? Neither? WHAT? I am planning to sell the DVDs of a workshop I present -- to people who may be playing them on PCs. Should I not be using this method (burning from a disk image) to burn my DVDs?

Video DVDs are in the UDF format. The disk image you created is in the UDF format. When you use Disk Utility to burn the disk image to writable media, the new discs will be in UDF format and all will be well.
    You are doing things correctly.
BTW, unless you have an external burner with lots of cooling, if you expect to use the burner in your Mac (which DOESN'T have lots of cooling), it's a good idea to pause between discs to allow the burner to cool down. (BTW, this comment is based on the reported results of several people in the forum. If you don't allow the cool down timer, you will start to create 'bad' discs. Also it is VERY important that you reduce the burn speed in Disk Utility to 4x or lower in order to create discs with maximum compatability with players. (You should see a way to change the speed in Disk Utility afterr you have inserted a disc.)

  • Why doesn't my Atapi dvd burner read data disks?

I've burned some work files from work onto a dvd on a mac intel and took it home and my dvd player won't read it. Does anybody know why?

THAT is how MY problem first started! Last year I discovered my DVD-R (Matshita, on a 2009 iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4mhz etc.) drive would not even accept anything but a MUSIC CD... within weeks, even those failed to play. I've posted thewhole long tale in another area, so am not going to hijack YOUR thread by repeating it here. But, Apple, what gives?? There is a HUGE problem going on with this particular DVD-R drive and we need HELP! I've already spent MONTHS following instructions here (end even elsewhere) on trying to get it working again, to no avail - worse, my AppleCare just expired on me 2 months ago, when I THOUGHT I had another 6 months AND that I'd get my DVD drive working again on my own, anyway...).
    RECALL, please?

  • DVD burner creates bad disks

Purchased the notebook in December 2010, during the past few months I noticed many bad DVD's created while converting VHS tapes to DVD. I ran HP Optical Disk Drive Check and it issued a "Write Check" click "Get Assistance" to resolve the issues, but the PC kept running something and there was a lot of activity on the DVD drive. I let it run through the night and it was still doing the same next morning. I suspect the drive has issues but if anyone has ideas on further testing, perhaps I can try it before bringing the notebook to HP. I can't give up the machine for very long. If the drive is bad I can call HP for a unit and I can swap it out.

    Hi,
Your machine is still under warranty, go for it. You can contact HP from one of the following locations, depending on where you are:

  • Disk Utility Does Not Recognize External Burner

I have had recent problems with errors in the burning process with idvd 5.
I have no problem making a disk image, so I can burn using disk utility. The problem is that disk utility only recognizes my internal drive and not the external LaCie d2 burner. The burner is listed in the system profile, idvd recognizes it ok, Toast recognizes it ok, but the disk utility doesn't.
I need to burn on dvd+r so that I can use Lightscribe, but the internal burner only takes dvd-r. I also would like to burn the dvd with the menu from the idvd program which is not there if I burn using Toast.
So, how can I get my disk utility to burn onto an external drive?

    Does this help?

  • New Lacie 16x DVD Burner.  Burns iDVD but not SP3!

DVDSPro3 doesn't seem to recognize the new Lacie DVD burner, but iDVD does and burns disk. Does anyone know why SPro3 isn't recognizing the new burner? Cheers.

    Hi Mark,
With the Panther (Mac OS X 10.3.9), you need this PatchBurn. Read the FAQ at the website. You probably can also get profile driver from LaCie.

  • LaCie d2 DVD Burner Does Not Read Discs

Anyone experienced a similar problem or have a solution?
I've just bought a LaCie d2 16X DVD burner w/ Lightscribe and have it connected through firewire to my 1Ghz iBook G4 running OS 10.4.7
iTunes 6 and Toast Titanium 7 recognize the burner, but when I insert a blank CD or DVD the burner doesn't read it and I get a 'no disc' message in Toast.
Neither burner nor discs appear on the desktop.
I've tried installing the latest LaCie Update Tool firmware from their website, but I just get the following message when I run it: "LaCie DVD Update Tool found a DVD drive CD/DVDW SH-S162L but there is no update available. (The firmware is at vLC00)."
That doesn't sound right. I've tried with a USB 2 hook-up and it still doesn't work.
Anyone know of any way to get the burner to recognize blank media? (I've tried it with different brands, being very careful that the disc is positioned in the middle of the tray. Nothing works).
    Thanks.

    1. You wrote: "I've experimented with multiple media, all to no avail."Yes, but you did not respond to point 1 in my last post: what media is supported?
    2. You wrote: "Burn Support: Yes (Unsupported)."You might want to take a look at the items concerning "burn support" on this XLR8YourMac page. In situations like this, sometimes one can burn from the iApps (iTunes, iDVD, etc.) but not from Finder or Disk Utility. I've not found specific documentation on that value, but I believe it means that the device can burn discs (Yes) but the method is not one supported in Mac OS X, i.e. it's not listed as a supported device in the DiscReording Framework.
Many folks have had luck getting their unsuported external optical drives to working with Patchburn. I've not used it, but it has helped innumerable folks.
    3. You wrote: "I'm ready to send this lemon back."I don't blame you. However, you may first want to give LaCie Support a call. See this page for their phone number and hours.

  • DVD burner doesn't fit correctly in Mac Pro

Added a new (second) DVD burner to my Mac Pro. It fits (I took the tray face plate off) but it's tight. So tight it won't eject all the way. I have to help it come out all the way. It's a Phillips DVD burner but seems to be the same dimensions as any other.
I've tested it, it's not the burner that is at fault. It seems to be dragging on the bottom of the slot. Normally, I'd just adjust the seating, but Apple's screw holes don't really allow for adjustment.
How can I make this drive sit about 1/8" higher so it slides out normally?

    but it's tight
And how tight did you screw it in because it doesn't needed to be "Nailed Down" just tight enough not to move or rattle! Loosen the screws near the front of the drive a little and see that helps.

  • Adobe Elements catalog backup fails after 3 discs.  Message says something wrong with dvd writer.  I bought an external dvd burner and changed disc brands, still the same results.

Full backup of catalog stops after three discs.  I have changed disc brand and added a new external dvd burner but still get the same results.  What is wrong?

If you have the hard drive space, see if you can complete a back up to the hard drive instead. If that works successfully, it could be a buffer or caching issue with the burner. It could be running out of space because it is not clearing after each disk burn.

  • Why doesn't my serial ata dvd burner stay engaged?

I recently installed an internal dvd and it will not stay engaged.
Eventually as I am working in something unrelated to the dvd, the burner will put up a message telling me that I inserted a dvd and what speed i would like to burn at even though I didn't insert any dvd. this is followed by disengagement of the driver or a message code say the it is unsupported.
When I access my profile it shows only the super drive but not the newly installed dvd burner in the disk burning category however the new burner is listed in the seril-ata category.
when I restart it will  reinstate the burner and i go through the same ordeal again.
    Thank you for any advice.

Apart from the Energy Saver setting, the drive should work with OSX except for playing Blu-ray movies.
You can play Blu-ray movies with Mac Blu-ray Player
    <http://www.macblurayplayer.com>
If you don't want to buy that, you can use MakeMKV
    <http://www.makemkv.com/>
to copy the movie to the hard drive, then play it with VLC
