Recognizing change in client IP during an ARD session ?

Let's assume I work on a client computer over the Internet (WAN) by using its hostname (e.g. server1.domain.tld). The computer is not within our LAN and can be only accessed via its hostname (respectively its IP).
In the case the IP address of the remote computer changes, does Remote Desktop recognize this and keeps the current session alive - or do I need to re-connect by using the new IP address of the client ?
I'm not sure about, because once the IP changes, a connection done via client's hostname should interrupt, because the DNS information still points to the old IP at this time.
I got told that ARD 3.x remembers the MAC address and rebuilds the connection, but I'm not sure if this would be only an option when having the client within the LAN and/or connecting by IP (so ARD does not need to ask a DNS server for the IP of the host/domainname).
Since I found no information in ARD's user manual, I would be interested to hear your experiences.

Thanks for your reply. As long as a reconnect is done when the IP changes, anything would be well.
I just be a bit concerned that the DNS records of the hostname/domainname still points to the old IP (the DNS servers may simply take some hours to update DNS).

  • Theme changing on client device affect Terminal (RemoteApp) session

    Hi,
    I noticed that when users are changing their default theme (Client side - PC) , It also affects the server side session windows when using RemoteApp, I can see that the Active-window color
    is being changed (server side).
    Since I changed Server default profile theme I find this issue annoying.
    How can I solve this issue ?
    Environment :
    Windows 2012 R2 (RemoteApp)
    Windows 7 SP1 (Client side)
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Is there any setting or policy applied on server for changing of theme?
    Does this happens with single user or all users?
    If with any specific user then try to recreate the user profile and check the result.
    In general terms it doesn’t seems to happen. As local system and RemoteApp session are 2 different things and can’t match each other. Apart also use latest RDP v 8.1 for windows 7 and see the difference.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Commit changes at deadline or during a maintenance window (requires restarts)?

    What happens in an application deployment if I uncheck "Commit changes at deadline or during a maintenance window (requires restarts)"?  If I have an application deployed to a collection with a maintenance window with a scheduled to be available
    now with an installation deadline of one week, what would happed?  What about if the application was deployed to a collection that did not have a maintenance window and there were no maintenance windows defined in any other collection the member clients
    were in?

    This is for Embdedded devices, like ThinClients.
    That means write filter commits either at deadline or during a maintenance window.
    Your application still installs as you schedule it, available now and install week from now. If you have maintenance window and selected to not install or reboot outside of maintenance window, then everything happens within maintenance window. If you don't
    check that box for write filter, then your app or setting you have just pushed does not get saved when device is rebooted.
    Same scenario with no maintenance windows. If you don't have maintenance window then your app downloads and installs as you schedule the dates. Write filter would not commit these changes and everything would go away after reboot.

  • EXIT to change / add line items during STO PO creation in T.Code ME21N

    Hi
    Can somebody suggest me a EXIT or a BADI  to change / add line items during STO PO creation in T.Code ME21N.
    The requirement is as below.
    When the user enters a material no ( which has a BOM created in CS01), and presses enter or saves the PO, i need to get the sub components of the BOM and populate them as the next line items.
    This is because the user needs to create the delivery with reference to the PO. In the delivery, the BOM material needs to be populated with all the sub components of the BOM.
    I tried to do it using EXIT_SAPMM06E_013 in which i am able to change / add the line items in the XEKPO and YEKPO internal tables. The entries are available in the internal table when the EXIT is executed.
    But when the PO is posted internally, the item is not changed/added.
    Thanks in advance.
    Guna.

    Hi,
    Try BADI "ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST".

    Below is the code i have implemented in the exit
    clear v_vbeln.

    select * from likp
        where vbeln = i_mkpf-le_vbeln

          e_charg = 'X'.
        ENDIF.
    If any body has implemented same functionality kindly help.
    Regards,
    Koustubh

    Hi,
    In the BADI LE_SHP_GOODSMOVEMENT, inside method CHANGE_INPUT_HEADER_AND_ITEMS, loop the parameter CT_XIMSEG.
    For each line in CT_XIMSEG, change the value of CT_XIMSEG-CHARG according to you logic and modify the internal table CT_XIMSEG transporting the valude of CHARG.
    Check whether now it is getting updated in MSEG.

  • Automatic change of Work Center during Confirmation.

    Happy New Year to all!
    Just want to ask if anyone of you encountered the scenario during confirmation in which the backflushed work center was changed. The user claims that they did not do any changes during confirmation nor did they change manually the order itself. The confirmation happened last December and they only noticed it this month when they were checking the reports.
    I did not configure their system so that they can change the Work Center during confirmation. By default, the work center is grayed out during confirmation.
    Hope to hear from some of you soon!
    Thanks and regards,

    Dear
    If your production order operations are re-scheuled and dispatched after Capacity Avalaiblity check in cm21/cm22/cm31 etc  , then during the dispatch of operation ,  you have option to change Work Cnetre , time , date based on the selection option in Startgy profile (CM31/CM21-Enter the WORK CENTRE /Order )  and check wether work centre is changed.
    One more option may be in Order Change in CO02-Operation Overview -Operation -Work centre -Here user may change the Work Centre .
    If you have Order Change management active then you can trace the same .
    Refer : Production order change history
    Otherwise , there is not such confirguration in SPRO where work centre can be changed automatrically during confirmaiton because it will grade out based on the ste of confirmaiton default screen in OP00.
    Hope it clarifies

    Hi SAP Stars,
                               I have recently Installed Quality and Production servers with PI 7.1 on windows 2003, Sqlserver 2005, when I'm doing Post Activities(http://host:port/nwa) in which I try to change the client from 001 to 300(newly created) in  JCo RFC(4 services) and start the service it is throwing error when I again change it to 001 client and start the service it is getting started, Could anyone help me in solving this issue same issue I facing in PI 7.1 Quality and Production
    Thanks In Advance
    Anil Kumar

    Hi Anil,
    All these JCo RFCs are client specific RFCs.
    Please logon your PI NWA
    Choose Configuration Management - Infrastructure- JCo RFC Provider
    Then, Select the RFC
    Under Details -> Choose Repository Configuraton
    Change the client name to 300 (your new client)
    Save
    And repeat the same for all JCo RFC that you want to work for your newly created client.
    Please ensure that you are using SAPJSF user & correct password for all these RFCs.
    Ideally, these rfcs shuould work now if now please restart your PI  (mostly Java alone also do)
    I hope this helps you.

  • How to change property file contents during run time?

    Hi everyone. First post so go easy on me please.
    I have a couple of properties that I want to read from a from a file. To achieve this I simply use:
    ResourceBundle.getBundle("my.package.MyItems").getString("MyProperty");
    This works like a wonder. The problem is, i want to change the property "MyProperty" during runtime. I've found the properties file (MyItems.properties) inside weblogic, but if a change its contents it does not reflect in the application.
    I can come up with a couple of justifications:
    * I'm not looking in the right folder/changing the wrong file in the server;
    * Weblogic caches the properties file, meaning that I have to redeploy the project (defeating the purpose of actually having a properties file).
    Can anyone help with this one?
    [EDIT] Forgot important info:
    * JDeveloper 11.1.1.4
    * Weblogic 11.3 (not 100% sure)
    * Both JDev and WebLogic running on Windows 7 64 bits
    Thank you in advance!

    JDeveloper 11.1.1.4, not 3

    I tried it all.
    Just an explanation of my context.
    I have 1 application with 2 projects in it. First project is called "CommonUI_ViewController" and the second one "FO_ViewController".
    The properties file I'm trying to change is located inside "CommonUI_ViewController", in package "PropertiesConfig" and the file is called "PhaseListener.properties".
    "FO_ViewController" is dependent on "CommonUI_ViewController". When I run "FO_ViewController" the integrated weblogic server log shows this (among other things):
    [10:25:55 AM] Wrote Web Application Module to D:\JDeveloper\dump\system11.1.1.4.37.59.23\o.j2ee\drs\SPV_BPM\FO_ViewControllerWebApp.war
    [10:25:57 AM] Wrote Web Application Module to D:\JDeveloper\dump\system11.1.1.4.37.59.23\o.j2ee\drs\SPV_BPM\CommonUI_ViewControllerWebApp.war
    Note: both lines above point to folders. "FO_ViewControllerWebApp.war" and "CommonUI_ViewControllerWebApp.war" are NOT war files, but folders that have that name.
    I tried changing the properties file in the following locations:
    * D:\JDeveloper\dump\system11.1.1.4.37.59.23\o.j2ee\drs\SPV_BPM\FO_ViewControllerWebApp.war\WEB-INF\lib\adflibSPVCommonUI.jar > PropertiesConfig\PhaseListener.properties;
    * D:\JDeveloper\dump\system11.1.1.4.37.59.23\o.j2ee\drs\SPV_BPM\CommonUI_ViewControllerWebApp.war\WEB-INF\lib\adflibSPVCommonUI.jar > PropertiesConfig\PhaseListener.properties;
    * D:\JDeveloper\dump\system11.1.1.4.37.59.23\o.j2ee\drs\SPV_BPM\CommonUI_ViewControllerWebApp.war\WEB-INF\classes\PropertiesConfig\PhaseListener.properties (no need to open any jar/war to get to this one).
    I changed all these files with different values but no change was shown in the application (using the method in the previous post).
    I believe that I'm still doing something wrong :/
    Thank you for your help so far vinod_t_krishnan!

    kaeandcolesmon,
    If you open the recovery drive (partition) it should only have a single folder (Recovery).
    To make sure that your not saving restore points to that drive.
    See:
    Start, Control Panel, System, System Protection tab. Make sure the D drive partition is set to OFF so that it does not save there.

    hi SG,
       first and foremost thing while using field exit is, ask your basis person to include the parameter abap/fieldexit = Y in your instance profile.
    Otherwise u can't use the field exits.

  • How to change the Client n user details for a model in Production

    Hello Friends,
                         I have an application which is calling RFC function module from SAP R/3.
    In development system while creating Model I have entered the Back end details like Client, User Name and Password.
    If I transport the application into Production, The Client and user name will be different. In this case How would I change the client n user name details.
    Do I have import again in Production. But does sounds a good idea.
    ThanQ for Ur time.
    Cheers.. Sam

    When you create Model first time, to import Interface of RFC you would need to logon into R/3. But once you are done with the Interface, your connection to R/3 will be determined by the client and UID details in JCo connection.
    Now when you transport your code from DEV to QA system, the JCo connection with the same name should be there. or else, you would need to create the same in the new server. I dont see a need to reimport the model. If that is the case, then developers would have to spend huge amount of time doing this job alone.
    Hope this solves ur problem.
    Regards
    Murali.
