Recognizing fonts under common files
I have stored all fonts under:
Program Files >> Common Files >> Adobe >>
Fonts
All my Adobe Applicaitons read these fonts from this folder.
So, I do not
have to load the fonts into the system fonts folder.
Is there a way to get Flash to read fonts from this folder?
I'm using Flash 8.

Thanks!!! I'll give that a try. I guess they won't work in Illustrator (the folder above was common to all the Adobe programs), but I guess InDesign is good enough since that's mostly where I'm working. I did have to switch back to an older version of Illustrator to edit the font in a logo earlier. But maybe if I create a Fonts folder in the Illustrator directory that'll work too. Anyway, thanks -- I somehow missed those folders earlier (thought I always had to be in x86 for some reason).

I have been trying to remove all residual apple files from my computer in order to fully reinstall iTunes. My devices are not being recognized by iTunes currently. I keep finding an Apple file under C/: Program files/ common files/ ......Apple.. under that there is an Internet Services file folder.. I am the administrator and yet it says I need permission to remove these files.

I just installed Camera Raw 8.7.1. It put the folders in a "Pug-Ins" folder under \Programs\Common Files. My Photoshop CC 2014 is in \Programs\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC2014. When I try to open a NEF file from my Nikon D750, CC 2014 says it cannot open it; it is an unsupported file type. So what do I need to do? TIA, Rob

Premiere Elements 9 - Common file types (AVI, JPG, MP3, etc.) not recognized
I just recently upgraded my system to Windows 7 64 bit (with 8 GB of RAM), and loaded the Photoshop/Premiere Elements 9 combo pack. I have run both versions 7 and 8 in the past with only minimal memory issues under Vista 32 bit with 4 GB of RAM, but no issues as far as loading AVI's, jpgs, mp3s, wav, etc file types. With this new version Photoshop Elements appears to work ok, but in Premiere Elements, I can not load any common file types without getting the error "Generic Failure - This type of file is not supported or the required codec is not installed". The other issue is that after I load the media from a given folder on my main drive "C", it's looking for the media in a folder on my "D" drive??? I tried to work this out through customer support, but was unsuccessful. This last time I called, they wanted to charge $24 for the call. I complained to the support person that they had never really solved my issue on previous calls so he suggested using the forum. Has anyone run into these issues?
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the software and have loaded all of the current updates, but I am not able to use Premiere Elements in it's current state. Any help will be appreciated...(note, this is the only application that I am currently having issues with on my upgraded system - all other software - probably 25 plus apps including Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum v 10, which I may have to switch to entirely, appear to be working well).
Thanks in advance for your help!For the CODEC issue, it could well be that your new OS is lacking some of those on the previous, though that would not explain the JPEG, for instance.
Going back, Windows would automatically install many CODEC's, including all the MS CODEC's. With some versions of Vista, one had to manually download and install a Vista CODEC pack. Now, I have a strong aversion to downloading any non-MS CODEC "packs," and would urge you to think long and hard before doing such.
If you do not have G-Spot, a great, free utility, I'd get it, and see which CODEC's are installed.

No Managed folder created in under C:\Program Files\Common Files\CrystalDe.
Hi All,
I installed Crystal report 9 developer edition on web server but I found I don't have any Crystal report related DLL in assymbly folder and not managed folder created under C:\Program Files\Common Files\CrystalDesion\2.0\ folder.
My server running .NET Framework 1.1.
Any help appriciated.

AnilCR 9 has been out of support for way too long. I don't remember the directory structure for CR 9. What is hte issue you are actually getting?
Was the framework installed after or before CR 9?

Okay, that was a long title. Sorry about that.
Longer version now. The font Janson Text is an old Type 1 Postscript font. If I make a new document in InDesign CC2014, this font is completely available to me. HOWEVER, if I open a legacy file that uses this same font, it shows up with the usual pink highlighting.
I know the font is available to InDesign, because I made a new test document and set type with it.
If I try using the Type > Find Font.. option to replace the 'missing' typefaces, InDesign won't let me, not recognizing the font that I just used in the new test document.
I just tried exporting the defective file as an IDML file, then opening the IDML file. The font is now working properly.
This is a real problem, as the file I'm trying to open is a book that we need to reprint. I now have to go through it page by page to see if any linebreaks have changed.
WHAT CAUSES THIS, please?There is one way its getting fixed. Once I update my Adobe Illustrator CC to Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 it is further allowing me to go into the system folder and allocate the font to the file so that it can replace it. My only concern now is that our MAC partners who will receive these files back from us have Adobe CS6. We will down save it to CS6 but I hope they won't experience any font issues because of us using CC 2014? Any light you can shed on this?

Has anyone gotten this error? I have uninstalled and reinstalled a dozen times and nothing has changed. Is my DVD bad?

and found no reference to exit code 6 in the second link, and this seemed to be the relevant entry in the first link.
CS5 products indicate an exit code 6 or 7 in the Installation Status screen, or after you click the Troubleshooting link. To locate the details of which registry keys are affected, open the installation log file. Search for "return value 3," then look just above that text for the error 1401, 1402, and so on.
I found no "return value" in the following, but found these two errors:
ERROR: DF037: Unable to delete directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe\AdobePatchFiles". Error 145 The directory is not empty.(Seq 886)
ERROR: DF037: Unable to delete directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe". Error 145 The directory is not empty.(Seq 887)
However, these are the two errors I followed up on even before I posted this problem. I was able to delete the directories so they WERE empty, and still got the same result. More Exit code 6.
I have complete administrative control of my computer. There's nothing I don't have permission to do.
As for the FATAL: DS003, I get this:
DS003 Cannot create extract assets at <path> from zip file <zip file name>
The unzip operation has failed. There could be directory permission or disk space issues.
See Error "FATAL ERROR: Cannot create extract assets..." | Installer log | CS5, CS5.5.
The zip operation failed at first, but as I mentioned, I was able to fix this. However, this error did not go away after the problem with 7zip was fixed.
The only other possible problem is Error 23, a CRC, which gives me a partial result only.

The linked page does not contain more information. As it is, that old staple "Contact system administrator" is cited, but I'm the system administrator.
I have no idea what "Updater has been disabled" means. Why are updates disabled? Is this a fixable problem? Do you have any idea about how to "enable" updates?

I do not have the Driver folder in this folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support like it says I should and my Apple Iphone appears in Portable Devices only, not in Universal devices. I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it. My Iphone is still not recognized by Itunes when I plug it in. I can see my photos in the internal storage folder on my Windows 7 system though. So I know my PC sees the device. The Iphoneis an Iphone 4 with IOS 6 installed. It was working fine until I had to reinstall my Windows system. Now Itunes does not see it. I've uninstalled Itunes and reinstalled it (64bit) to no avail. Where is the Driver folder article TS1538 talks about?

0) Situation if you do not fix 1 + 2:
You can not release the Homeview feature like this - without fixing 1 + 2.
If not 1 +2 is fixed you might just as well leave the release of the Homeview feature out of the roadmap for Windows 10. I.e. not ready for use ... or promotion in the UI
1) How come Homeview has not been included - like other namespaces i.e. Libraries into the Common File Dialog Box?
How can such a trivial thing to do be missed? I.e. like forgetting to include Homeview into Explorer (would be absurd).
If not included into the Places Bar of the Common File Dialog Box ... Home View will be unusable - because some very visible applications like Java, Photoshop will not be able to navigate that space easily at all.
2) Finally, please fix obscure situation in the UI namespace in Explorer
Please fix obscures like having Home view, Favorites and Libraries (side-by-side complexity and confusion obscuring usability) - all similar concepts but on a different evolutionary step. I.e. have Favorites and Libraries
hidden - and add i.e. view control like to small buttons whatever to unhide/show the legacy concepts.
In any case - Home view already seem to migrate/move links from Favorites to the Homeview container.
Additionally, Home view should migrate links from Libraries to Home view - and provide similar and better functionality.
Thus going the evolutionary way from Libraries > Favorites > Home - with the later concept of Home providing links to the cloud. Even better, sync relation ships could then later (extended features for Home) be set up among the pins - i.e. concerning
cloud/network syncing.
The UI should always reflect the 1 essentional concept - and not under the hood technologies or different evolutionary stages of the same basic/essential concept (technology/implementation free - abstract: "Home with pining of user data space"
- was previously favorites or libraries (thus obsoleted)). Now the name for that concept is Home. Have it include the technology that replaces Libraries too - i.e. categorization/nesting ... and some whitespace inbetween the nesting (alike some whitespace

* "X: is a network drive, but it's actually a network drive on my machine." - Is "X" a mapped drive to one of your shared folder on network?
* What is the project directory structure with respect to WEB-INF/web.xml? Are you able to see the three pages (from web & pages folder) in NitroX Editor?
* Does the modified content appear in "Design view" of index.jsp upon restarting NitroX?
Ex:
- modify one of the pages in "web" folder > save the file (alert appears)
- restart NitroX, does index.jsp display the modified content of included page?
* If possible please send the test case project which exhibits the behavior to [email protected]

Changing font under desktop icons
Something kind of screwy has been going on with the font under my desktop icons for a while now. It's totally different from the font that the rest of my system uses. I'm not entirely sure what font it is, but it looks a lot like the font that terminal uses. It's white and outlined in black when I don't use a color label, and then turns really skinny and black when I do use a color label. Is there any way to revert back to the original font? Thanks.

If you mean Font Finagler, then no, that won't change your fonts. David was saying his fonts weren't displaying properly, which Font Finagler may fix by removing corrupt font cache files.
It sounds like you want to actually change the fonts the system uses for its display. The only haxie I know of that can do that is Silk. -
Common files with Creative Cloud
Okay, this might be a weird question, and it's not exactly InDesign related (though I'll post it here since InDesign is what I'm using 90% of the time):
I just updated to Creative Cloud a couple of days ago:
I'm using Windows 7. I don't have administrator rights on my work computer to install fonts. So -- instead of installing them directly into the system (the usual way) -- I "installed" them simply by copying them into this folder (placing a copy here made them work with all Adobe products):
C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Common Files \ Adobe \ Fonts \
These fonts don't work in Creative Cloud, and I've been unable to locate a similar folder within the Creative Cloud install. Is there one somewhere? Is it still possible to access fonts this way? I really don't want to get the I.T. guys over here every single time I need to install fonts...

Trying to delete the Apple Folder from Program Files/Common Files. I can delete all the contents except for the Internet Services folder which prevents me from making the deletion. The error message says "you need permission to delete this file".
Discovered this problem when trying to upgrade from my 3G iPhone to a new 5S iPhone unsucessfully.See note 3 of Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

Under the File tab, I no longer see Close Tab or Close Window. Thus, I end up with a lot of open windows, because if I click File Exit, I'm logged out.
You need to create a file userChrome.css in the chrome folder in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and paste the above posted code in the file.<br />
You can use the ChromEdit Plus extension to make it easier to edit the file.
You can access the profile folder via this button:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
That code will cause all hidden menu entries to get visible all the time, so you can use the mouse to open the menus and do not need to use the keyboard. -
HT1923 I can't delete the Apple folder in Common Files
My computer would not recognize my iPhone. I tried the troubleshooting tips found online, uninstalling everything in order. When verifying all files had been removed, I could not delete the Apple folder in Common Files as it says the folder or a file in it is open in another program. When checking my programs I see iCloud remains (published by Apple). Need that be uninstalled as well? How important is it to delete the Apple folder which has an Internet Services folder in which are two other folders (filled with files), an application AppleOutloodDAVConfig64, and three application extensions? I can no longer remember if my phone had remained connected to the computer throughout all of the process or not,
Does it say something is in use in there?

I am trying to delete the apple folder from common files. When I click on apple, internet services comes up. I tried to delet those but it says they are open in the internet. I don't know how to close them. Please help.
I just fixed this. I had to,delete iCloud from my PC. Make sure it is still on your ipad, etc.!!! There were programs open in iCloud preventing me from deleting all the apple files so that I could reinstall itunes. I did not find that out on any of the apple support postings. Apple should have told me to delete iCloud as they did the other components.
