Recognizing imported iTunes between 2 iMacs??

I recently bought a new iMac listed below and am trying to import my iTunes, iPhotos, Entourage Address Lists to this machine from a flat screen iMac with nonfunctioning monitor. I managed to get the iTunes on to the new iMac desktop and into the Music file, but cannot access these songs when iTunes is booted. I even trashed the iTunes in the new Mac, but they still showed up in the iTunes screen when booted. I have been able to transfer them individually, but this would take a week to complete. What is my next attempt? Thanks in advance.

It would be easier to answer if you use the word "iTunes" to refer to the application, and "songs" to refer to the tracks themselves, otherwise it is confusing.
The reason why iTunes still "sees" your songs is that the database files are still there even if you manually trashed the songs themselves. You need to start over IF you added no NEW music in iTunes on the new machine :- trash the iTunes folder in Music on the new iMac (iTunes should not be running).
Next, link the two computers via their FireWire ports, then start the old iMac in Target Disk Mode (hold the T key down while it is booting). The old iMac will then appear on your new iMac's desktop. Start iTunes on your new iMac, check "Copy songs to iTunes..." in Preferences. Then using Add to Library... point to your old Music Folder which is in the old iMac (and which you can access just as if it was an external HD).
If you had Protected (DRM) tracks on the old computer, you will need to Authorise your new machine in iTunes in order to play them.

When you say you have a shared library... you mean you have a networked external hard drive that you are sharing?
In iTunes, generally...when the term Shared Library is used, it's speaking to sharing a specific computer's library over the network with different computer.
I would think it would be better to do what ya'll have been doing (one log in acct/one computer) and have her create her own Apple acct and each of you log in and out whenever purchasing music apps etc. and then setup individual playlists and pick specific playlists to sync with each individual iPhone.

Syncing itunes between my iMac and MacBook Pro

I use my iMac as my main computer and use a MacBook Pro for work. I like to keep my MacBook up to date with the itunes I run on my iMac.
I use an iomega 500GB to run time machine and store my music for my MacBook, is there any way of syncing my iTunes on my iomega hard drive with my imac?

Imported music CD does not show up in iTunes in my iMac.

I imported a new music CD to iTunes in my iMac running the latest OSX 10.8 but I cannot find the music in my iTunes library. Search by album name or artist shows no result. Yet, when I tried to reimport the same CD, I am told that the album/track by the same name(s) already exist in the library. I looked at the preference and all the pull down menus but no luck. I appreciate if someone could help me.

You need to transfer the iTunes Library from the most recent backup you made before the hard drive was replaced.
You can't transfer the full iTunes Library from the iPad back to iTunes.
There are third-party Windows applications that will transfer data from an iOS device, but they don't re-create the iTunes Library exactly as it was before.

I would love some ideas: Cannot get home-sharing to show me any existing iTunes content stored on either of the computers, on my new iPad. Currently the iPad can "see" that the iMac homeshare is there - if I click on the 'more' option, then folllow the 'shared' and select iMac all I see after the spinning wheel is a blank grey screen with iMac written at the top, and a few icons in top and bottom bars. I have tried resetting the iPad, switching the server and computers all off and changing user ID and passwords to all synch. No luck yet. Any ideas?

1. Yes, you need to buy a new OS. Mac OS X 10.6 requires a Mac with an Intel CPU and at least 1GB of RAM.

Xmas Nano not recognized by iTunes and ejecting crashes iMac HARD!

I hooked up my new 8Gb Nano and was notified I had to upgrade iTunes. Did that. Then a dialog box popped up telling me the Nano was not recognized and advising to disconnect and reconnect it. After doing this a half dozen times it was finally recognized. Tried to sync with iTunes and it froze on selection #19. Had to FORCE QUIT iTunes. As the Nano was telling me it is connected and needs to be ejected I did that in FINDER and the iMac had a hard crash. Had to force a power-down. I went through this absurdity 5 times with iTunes starting a sync at #19 then after deleting #19, it froze at selection #11, deleted that and it froze at #1. After each freeze and my tying to eject the Nano and getting 5 hard crashes I finally went to bed!
Today I trashed iTunes, downloaded it again and hooked up nano. Nothing. It was not recognized by iTunes but showed up in FINDER and the DESKTOP. Quit iTunes. I ignored ejecting it, disconnected it. Started iTunes again connected the Nano and got the spinning color wheel for about ten minutes. While I searched the net for solutions it finally stopped spinning but, the Nano is not listed in iTunes! It shows up on the desktop and in finder and the Nano is telling me it is connected and needs to be ejected. I'll try to eject it next but I'm sending this now as I've no confidence the mac won't have another hard crash!
This is pretty disappointing. I finally talked my brother in-law into abandoning the PC (as I did last year after a zillion years of PC frustration) and consider getting a new iMac. "All you have to do is hook up your Mac and it just works!!!" From what I'm seeing here and other places, the Nano/iTunes problem is not unusual, BUT I'm seeing nothing from Apple to address this issue. Is Apple becoming the next Microsoft? Who needs this crap?
Does there have to be a mass return of Nano's to get Apple's attention? I know mine goes back tomorrow!

In order for you to solve this problem you have to follow these stept if your running windows:
1'st step is to go into the device manager
2 step is to go to portable devices (it is rught under network adapters)
3 step is to right clic apple iphone and click update drivers
4 step is to brows your drivers from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
After that your itunes will pump up alown and youl see your iphone right there.

I am conneting my Ipad to mutiple Pcs, (windows and Mac) and it is not being recognized in the device list on itunes or the computers. the ipad is fully charged, I have reset it numerous times and it gives me the apple icon and then the "connect to itunes" message.... but dose nothing after that. I had it all set up and gave it to my daughter who tried to sync it with her macbook when it did this. We are using direct connections to the computers usb ports, the cables are new, ituens is newly updated on all pc's...
any ideas what the problem is??

How did you import the photos to iPad and iPhone?
If the photos have been synced to the iPhone and iPad using iTunes, you cannot sync them back.

In the source list click devices (so far so good) then click the entry for your iphone or ipod. that doesn't exist. HELP asap
You don't import photos from the iPhone to your computer using iTunes.

Note this only applies to photos taken with the iPhone. Any photos you previously added to your iPhone using iTunes should be copied from old computer to new computer.

Synching between iPhone imac and iPad

Have a weird issue. Normally when I plug the iphone or iPad2 into the iMac the sych started automatically. This morning I have done the same as usual and nada...it still makes that cute little trill when you plug the two toegether but thats it......when I open the sync app manually the devices are not there and if I try to find them they do not show up.......I even downloaded updates uncase something was wrong there. Last time I synched was about a month ago. The only thing I have done otherwise between teh iphone and the imac is to use image capture to transfer photos fromteh phone to the iMac.....

Launch iTunes.
From the menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Devices tab.
Deselect: Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically then click OK.

Should be recognized under Devices left side of the iTunes window in the source list.
