Recomend Webcam please

Hi, I'm about to start a project using the JMF to capture/stream video from a web cam.
I first need a good webcam...
Can any of you suggest a good brand that JMF supports?
I'm just looking for somthing with 30fps and possibly 640 * 480 resolution... it can be 352 * 288 however.

I would recomend a logitech or creative cam.
They must be WDM compatible(Windows Device Manager).
I have successfully used Creative WebCam Ex Pro and logitech Quickcam Zoom.
Both have the Resolution and Frame Rate you require.
Both will work with Linux.(with the correct drivers/kernel)
Note, that these little cameras sometimes tell "white lies", the resolution is done by decompressing the image, which is done in software.
The frame rate can also be limited by the USB port.
So , the resolution and quality you get, may not be what you expect.
This is only my opinion, and my experiences.

I've been able to use the video call perfectly fine up until this past week. Skype is not able to detect my webcam at all and on my Device Manager, my HD Webcam 101 says that it is working properly.
I've tried disabling and then enabling it. It works! But, the same issue re-occurs whenever I restart my laptop. Obviously, I don't want to keep doing that procedure just to get it working. Is there anyway you guys can help me fix this issue? It is becoming a big problem because I make a lot of business video calls over Skype. Thanks...hope I get a response asap.

Are you starting Skype automatically when you start Windows, or do you start Skype manually after Windows is already running? If you're starting Skype with Windows, try changing to letting Windows start before starting Skype to see if that makes any difference.
When Skype doesn't detect your webcam, if you click on Tools > Options > Video settings, what does it say in the "Select webcam" box? If you click on the pull down arrow next to that box, are there choices that can be selected there?
If there is nothing that can be selected in Video settings, and since you weren't having this problem up until recently, you can try recetting your Skype configuration files with this procedure:
Quit Skype. Hold the Windows key and type r. In the box that comes up type %appdata% <enter>. Scroll down to find the \Skype folder and rename it something like \Skype_old. Restart Skype.
Note: Renaming the Skype folder will move IM and call history to the renamed folder. They can be recovered with a few extra steps.

Just switched to Comcast cable today and rudely was made aware that they were blocking all sorts of incoming ports, including Port 8080 that I had reserved for my EvoCam webcam use. So I went online and did some portscanning of my connection and I think I've fixed it. But can anyone test out my webcam for me, PLEASE! It's under the heading "WebCam" on my website. I need some outside world confirmation that you can actually see the darn thing...just post back here to let me know. Thanks so much in advance!

Your connection seems to be up; that said, there are couple things you should consider:
1. Read your ToS carefully, most residential services (from many providers) do not allow you to run server of any kind. My SBC DSL service (here in SJ) doesn't allow me to run any servers, and they DO scan ports for those services (I know they do, I scan them back . They can use that to cancel your service.
2. Cable modem may not be a very good for what you're trying to do, because cable modem is very bad asymmetrical. Cable company tell you that you have big bandwidth, but they don't tell you that it's only for downloading. Considering cable TV (or satellite TV) is a downlink medium only (no upload), so cable modem uploading is about 125 mb/s, your video stream will choke it up.

Creative live cam voice help please

Help please,
We are using the "live cam voice" model, with our computer (Vista 32bit), that appears to work OK, but after a few minutes we get the BSOD! We have tried un installing and re-installing drivers without any effect.Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you fix it.

Thanks for your response. I have tried 3 ports so far, all with the same outcome. One of my sons had it happen to him on another computer (XP SP2) using this webcam . As to programmes open at the same time, I am not computer literate and have no idea what programmes were running on each occasion.We use the webcam for Skype and apart from that I may also have IE open and perhaps Outlook Express. Over and above those CS4 sometimes.
If I cannot resolve this, can any one suggest another webcam please.

Errors when installing VF0060 - Webcam Live Ultra

When I am running the installaltion CD, at around 9% completion I get an error that says "Installation is unable to continue because of one or more unresolved issues. Please contact support services and quote "Error I-001".
This is followed by the message - 'DoInstall fails to launch E:\WEBCAM\\WCenter\SETUP. INX. DoInstall return error code is -2472332.
The installation proceeds after acknowledging these messages (which come twice)
The drivers get installed and I can use the webcam
But the Creative Web Cam center DOES NOT get installed, only the user guide gets installed.
So I am not able to make use of the complete features of the webcam - please help. I tried disabling my Webroot spysweeper - does not help

I have a similar situation:
Case - In very low light conditions, with auto exposure ON: if I set FPS at 30, I actually get about 20 and a dark image as if auto exposure wasn't working
Case 2 - In very low light conditions, with auto exposure ON: if I set FPS at 25 or less, I actually get about 5 but a very good image (auto exposure works dramatically well).
Case 3 - In very low light conditions, with auto exposure OFF: effecti've FPS matches whatever I set it at, but I get a very dark image
Case 4 - Now, in low to normal light conditions, regardless of auto exposure being ON or OFF, I can set FPS at 30, actually get 30 and a very good image (auto exposure works dramatically well).
I'm curious why auto exposure seems to play such an important role on frame rate and image quality, under very low light. Is exposure adjustment done at the camera or by software? I'm running a 3 ghz processor with lots of headroom.

Can't find my Presario CQ61-410US webcam

I can't find a webcam in my device manager, although I see the webcam and microphone at the top of my display's frame. Skype doesn't find a webcam and Youcam asks me to turn it on. Is it busted?

Hi there , Did you happen to do all of your updates in the HP Support Assistant? If no please use the HP Support Assistant to do all of your driver updates. Did you restart the Notebook? If not please use the Hard Reset Guide. I looked up your specific Model and I do see that some models do have the Webcam and some do not. You had said you were getting mixed messages from Skype and YouCam, and that you do have the Webcam area above the Notebook Display. This would lead me to believe that it is possible you have a Webcam. In the Device Manager under Imaging Devices, do you see the webcam now that you have done all of your driver updates, and restarted the Notebook? If you do not see a webcam, please right click on Imaging Devices and select Scan for hardware changes. If no entry under Imaging Device displays in Device Manager after running the scan, please follow this document called Webcam Troubleshooting (Windows 7). This document has a specific area called Video does not appear in your webcam software (such as YouCam, Skype, Messenger, etc.). Please follow the troubleshooting steps from there on. If this does not help please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Satellite L50 - cannot start webcam

In order to use webcam, you have to use the Win 8.1 webcam app.
But you should also check the webcam access privacy settings.
You will find this under PC settings -> Pivacy -> webcam

Skype doesn't detect webcam on new windows 8 lapto...

I have a new laptop pre-shipped with windows 8. I installed skype via the skype download page, and after the install I see that it does not detect my webcam.
I go to Tools->Options and skype doesn't detect that any webcam exists on the system.
I've changed the windows 8 webcam privacy settings to allow skype to use my webcam, though I'm not clear if this affects the normal old desktop skype or that new metro skype (I'm not even quite clear if those are two separate applications, that whole metro thing is still just weird and unuseable to me, not sure why I'd ever want skype to take over the whole desktop as it does if you go into it from the metro interface).
There are tons of results for webcams not woring in skype, but after going through many of them they don't seem to cover this case of "skype just doesn't detect the webcam in windows 8".

Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.

Difference between G/L Balance and Inventory Audit Report

Hi All,
while checking the G/L ledger for Inventory account and the Inventory Audit report, there is a difference between the amounts posted. The closing balance till 31/03/09 is fine but afterwards the balance is not matchin at all. I hav tried to check between various posting dates but still there are differences. Any suggestions why there are differences and how should i check them??

The GL account and the Inventory audit report will not tie for a couple of reasons:
- You have posted directly (JE) to your Inventory account. These amount since they are NOT tied to a Item in a transaction will not appear in the Inventory audit report. The Inventory account(s) should be treated like a control account (enthough they
cannot be set as one in SAP B1) and should not be posted to directly outside of the Item Inventory Transaction (GRPO, AP Inv, AR INV, DN, AR CM, AP CM, etc...) I have alos seen these posting when GL determinations are setup incorretly or when users use the inventory account in Stock Posting (staock taking) transactions
- you have legacy issues resulting in audit report entries relating back to pre SP01 2005 days.
To get these details analyzed by SAP for free along with the recomended corrections please contact your partner for a free Inventory Verification analysis Your partner can take a copy of your DB backup and create a support message under SBO-MM-IVC and SAP support will analyse these differenes and show you the recommended changes.

IChat USB problem with seemingly no solution

I am working on a PowerPC g5(10.4.10) and am trying to get my webcam(Logitech Quickcam 4000) to work through a program called iChat USB(http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/).
The webcam worked last year on my mini mac, but after moving to a new computer it will not work.
When I open the video function of a iChat it says, "Camera in use by another application". Well, its not. I have close all application, unplugged and replugged my USB cable. Downloaded Macccam.Downloaded the logitech drivers. Nothing works.
One odd thing I tried was plugging the webcam into my keyboard. When doing this the green light stays on(i cant remember if it did this on my mini(10.3.9), but it doesnt do it on my g5) But while plugged into the keyboard I do not have enough USB power.
This is coming from a guy who is 600 miles away from his girlfriend for a year, and he needs your help. So if you have any ideas, or know of a webcam that might work (I have herd somthing about the xbox 360 webcam) please let me know.

Unplug the camera, shut down the computer.
Start up in Safe Mode
Login and empty Trash.
Restart normally and log in.
Connect camera
Repair Disk Permissions in Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
Go to Apple menu > About this Mac > More Info > Hardware > USB

Access shared calendars on exchange 2007

I'm trying to access shared Exchange calendars on my iphone and I cant see how to do this. Does anyone know how to do this? If i require a 3rd party app to do this, can anyone recomend one please?
I can see the shared calendars on outlook 2010 and I would expect to see them in the calendar list on my iphone.

Thanks, russcus, you've brought me one step closer to figuring out how to use Snow Leopard and Exchange 2007 together. As we're on the topic here, I need to take a moment to voice why Apple's implementation is very disappointing.
Of your 3 suggestions, #1 should just be working out of the box. iCal should be able to see these calendars- Entourage can. As long as others in the organization have Calendar: Properties: Permissions: "default" set to "reviewer", they've granted read privileges to everyone else in the organization. Pulling up a view of another's calendar is as simple as "Open Other User's Folder", enter email address, verify, use. It's a rare and sad day when I wish Apple's software just worked as well as Microsoft's.
While #2 and #3 will work (I verified only #3), it's far more effort on the calendar owner's part. Everyone who might need calendar privileges must be managed separately, vs the wholesale organization-wide granting Entourage can do. This is a unneeded overhead that causes complication whenever staff changes.
Additionally, the scheduling assistant is less useful than in Entourage. In iCal, the availability of others is boiled down to only free or busy. In Entourage, a mouseover of an event in the Scheduling view provides event title and location data (as long as the event isn't flagged as private). My staff won't like loosing the ability to answer the question "exactly what is user X busy with at this time?" if we were to move to iCal.
If I'm misunderstanding something, please let me know. I'd prefer to not be right on these observations, as they're going to be problems in leaving Entourage for the Apple native suite of apps.
Regarding public folders- they are on Microsoft's list of discontinued features:

Hi,
Droplets are intended to connect front end (jsps) with the business functionality thro nucleus components. They are primarily used for presentation logic which involves business rules.
So, you need to decide to go for a mere nucleus component or droplet based on your requirement.
It is good to have any business logic / common code in a tools class and call that method from the droplet. In this case, you do not need to extend other droplet and can reuse the code from the tools class by injecting the tools component.

I HAVE PAID BLOODY GOOD MONEY FOR THIS PROGRAM FOR WORK PORPOSES. I CANNOT SIT THREW EVERY 5 MINUTES OF AUDIO TO CORRECT THE AUDIO AS IT CONSTANTLY DRIFTS OUT OF SYNC... FOR THE PRICE I PAID FOR THIS PROGRAM IT SHOULDNT EVEN BE AN ISSUE!!!

You say that the video is from a Sony Vaio HD webcam. Is the webcam built into the computer or one that you attach to the computer?
What is the scenario for placing your webcam video on the Premiere Elements 12 Timeline
a. Camera Sony Vaio HD webcam/software that came with the webcam (please name)/ that produces a .mp4 file saved to your computer hard drive. And, you import that .mp4 into Premiere Elements 12 with the program's Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets from where you drag the video to the Expert workpsace Timeline.

b. You open Premiere Elements 12 and go to Add Media/Webcam or WMD Device and in the Capture dialog that appears you see your Sony Vaio HD camera listed in the field where it shows Capturing Source? If so, are you using Full Motion or Stop Motion? If so, what are you ending up with, HD or SD video added to the Timeline?
Once we know how you are getting your .mp4 to the Premiere Elements 12 Timeline, we can back track to figure out if the project settings of the program are being properly set by you or the program. This may be a simple matter of right or wrong project settings or more complex. But we will not know until we work through the details.
Since you present with an audio out of sync with its video issue it is necessary to know the video and audio properties of the file
video compression
audio compression
frame size
frame rate
interlaced or progressive
file extension - we know that from what you told us, .mp4.
pixel aspect ratio
The easy way is if you know the brand/model/settings of the camera recording the video. Any problems in that regard, then you get the properties from free properties readout programs such as MediaInfo or gspot. I suggested MediaInfo here since it will tell us if your video uses a fixed or variable frame rate. Variable frame rates can create problems.
