Recomendations For Waterproof DVD Printer?

Hi,
I need help with getting the best reasonalbe priced DVD on disk printer? is the Ebson R800 the one of the best for color waterproof one? What about "thermal printers" for DVDs? and recommended prinable glossy DVDs?
Thanks Tim C.
Cole Productions

I can second that recommendation for the Taiyo Yudens - they may be expensive but I've got reliable burns with these discs where all else have failed and the glossy finish looks good.
These discs work in any inkjet direct-to-CD/DVD printer - I use the HP Photosmart D5160 which is inexpensive but has appallingly poor supplied software - I use Photoshop instead.
Using this printer leaves faint roller marks over the glossy surface, however, although I've not yet tried to polish these after the discs have dried.

  • Small Business Printer Recomendations for Design Work

    Hi All,
I have a small bussiness and my design/layout work is growing. Does anyone have a recomendation for a good printer to purchase that does well with this level of color/design work?
    Thanks very much in advance.
    Toby

Peter's recommendation of the laser is a good one unless you will be printing frequently enough with an inkjet.
In that price range, actually a tad less, I would recommend the Xerox Phaser 6600DN. While not as nice as its larger brothers, I bought my wife one a couple years ago and it has been a solid performer, good color. Only issue is the limitation of legal-size paper at the largest. Once you want tabloid on a color laser, the costs will make the mentioned Epson seem inexpensive.
If you will be printing frequently enough, that Epson is a solid performer. I personally think the color is more vibrant than you'll see on a press not matter how it is adjusted and no matter what profile is being used, it does a really nice job.

  • Photosmart C309a CD/DVD Printing Software

I love my new printer, but I was hoping for a better software package for CD/DVD printing than was supplied with the printer.
I had been using my son's Canon until I bought the new printer.  I thought the Canon CD/DVD software was a little primative, but it is way more versatile than the standard HP software for CD printing.
I do a lot of CD printing and need more flexibility than the standard software offers.
Can anyone advise me if there are any available options for better software for CD/DVD printing?
Is HP working on any improvement? - they should be!
Can a third party software be used? How? Which one?
Please help me out.  I am sick of my son Paying me out for buying a HP.
I have had HP's for many years, but I need better software.
PS.  The scanning software on this printer is awesome. Great for family photo scanning

Oh, man I know.  This HP software SUCKS. Microsoft Publisher has a CD template that works perfect with no page alterations needed. And it is very flexible. You just have to select the C309a properties before you print and choose to print on a CD.  If you use any type of publishing or graphic software you should be able to print to the CD. Just set the page size to 5.12 inch x 5.12 inch. Even MS Word works. Just not very flexible.

  • Recommendations for creating dvd case inserts?

Hello! As far as I can tell, iDVD 6 has no feature for creating dvd case covers/inserts.
I'd appreciate recommendations for inexpensive or free software for making such covers.
    Thanks!
    David

You're welcome, David. I'm not familiar with all the Sharpie product line, but the common one that marks anywhere uses a fairly harsh solvent, and in theory could eat through to the reflective coating of the DVD. I found a Memorex product at Fry's Electronics named, "CD Marker." It is labeled non-toxic, water-based.
Personally, I've not had any problems with the sticky labels (I've used Memorex and CD Stomper labels for a few years) but there are some strong feelings opposed to their use (and I can imagine a problem could come up in 10-15 years). You can do a search in these forums; an alternative is printing directly onto the DVD if you have the right printer and disks.

  • "incompatible formats" when importing for SD DVD

I used FC to edit and used these settings for AV:
    Playback output
    VIDEO: Apple firewire NTSC 720 x 480
    AUDIO: default
[checked box] Different output for Edit to Tape/Print to Video
    VIDEO: HDV (1440 x 1080) 60i
    AUDIO: default
Then I took it through Compressor using Dolby Digital 2.0 which is ac3 and MPEG -2 6.2 Mbps 2-pass which has a usage for SD DVD.
    Please help!

DVD SP (and other apps) are either non-Universal (older versions) or Universal Versions. Universal is reuqired forr Intel Macs or weirdness can occur (if you get it to run.) 4.2.1 is Universal Binary, so that is okay.
A quick easy check - are you trying to bring a NTSC MPEG into a PAL DVD SP project (or vice versa?) That will cause an issue
Also depending on how you installed things could also be an issue - Final Cut Studio 2 (if an upgrade) seems to have less issues when done as a clean install on an OS that did not have an earlier version installed (of FCP Studio). Leopard also has issues - better to an erase and install of the OS and not upgrade off of Tiger.
Check the NTSC/PAL issue to start, always good to knock off some of the easy ones first as issues...

  • Making CD's For In-Store Printing

I made a similar topic a long time ago and no one answered, but it's still a problem so I thought I would try again.
I burned a cd with iPhoto which had (presumably) 211 pictures. I took my cd to my local RiteAid to print up photos (they have a great deal now where you send in your cd like a roll of film and you get all your pictures for $0.09 each). When I insert the disk into their kodak machine to double check the disk, the machine reads 475 photos. Some are duplicated, not all, with little yellow exclamaition points.
I plan to talk to Kodak about this problem too, but does anyone know how to burn pictures for in store printing.
I was able to export photos to easyshare which properly burned the cd. However, now I have 2 copies of every photo (one for iphoto one for easyshare). I could use easyshare instead of iphoto as my primary picture organizer, but, except for burning cd's, iphoto is superior.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Matt

Which wi-fi speakers are recomended for MacBook Air?

I cannot personally advise because I don't know about those specific models.
In 10.7, Apple already provides built-in software and updates for many printers. Check the lists below.
Apple list of Epson printer software included with 10.7:

Apple list of HP printer software included with 10.7:

Also, Epson and HP both have support web pages where they describe their support for Mac OS X 10.7 and have driver software available to download. There's a good chance the that printer driver software you find online will be more recent than on the CD in the box with the printer, so you'll want to check those sites anyway.

  • Provide Feedback for the DVD Studio Pro User Manual and Onscreen Help Here

The Apple documentation team for professional video applications would like to know what you think about the DVD Studio Pro 4 Help documentation (available in the Help menu):
    • How often do you use the DVD Studio Pro Help documentation? Under what circumstances do you use it most?
    • How do you find what you're looking for in DVD Studio Pro Help? For example: table of contents, index, skimming, PDF links, PDF search?
    • What do you like most about DVD Studio Pro Help?
    • What is missing?
    • Are there any particular examples of other manuals or documentation that you consider to be good models for future editions of the DVD Studio Pro User Manual and onscreen help?
    • By what method do you usually learn a new application? For example: provided tutorials and manuals, third-party tutorials or books, training classes?
    • What do you think is the most difficult feature/concept to grasp in DVD Studio Pro?
    • What's the most frustrating experience you've had with the DVD Studio Pro Help documentation?
    • Do you prefer electronic or print documentation?
    • Are there any other delivery methods or media you think we should explore?
    • What size computer display do you typically use to view the onscreen help? For example: 15-inch, 17-inch, 20-inch, 23-inch, or 30-inch?
    • What resolution is the computer display set to when you view onscreen help? For example: 1024 x 768, 1280 x 854, or 1920 x 1200 pixels?
    • Do you use multiple computer displays?

    • How often do you use the DVD Studio Pro Help
documentation? Under what circumstances do you use it
    most?
I'm working with DVSP for 4 months, so everytime I don't know how to do something I use the documentation. As the times passes I almost don't need it so often.
    • How do you find what you're looking for in DVD
Studio Pro Help? For example: table of contents,
index, skimming, PDF links, PDF search?
PDF Search, but I think is not the best way to search because it shows too much useless results.
    • What do you like most about DVD Studio Pro Help?
It is powerful and easy to use.
    • What is missing?
A way of editing the DVD Project Source Code. Let me explain: in some big projects I just need to change the Jump from "button_1" to "button_2", and to do that I need to find the button under my menus and choose it from a list. If I can just type "2" instead of "1" it will be faster and error-free.
Advancing in this idea, if I can open the entire link list as a Source Code in TextEdit, I can see all the buttons and link all of them without seeking for each on menus.
Today the Connections Tab helps a lot, but I still need to find the button un the menus. With 5 or 4 menus is easy, but sometimes I have 50...
    • Are there any particular examples of other manuals
or documentation that you consider to be good models
for future editions of the DVD Studio Pro User Manual
    and onscreen help?
    The OSX help is great!
    • By what method do you usually learn a new
application? For example: provided tutorials and
manuals, third-party tutorials or books, training
    classes?
Manuals, third-party tutorials and discussions foruns.
    • What do you think is the most difficult
feature/concept to grasp in DVD Studio Pro?
    • What's the most frustrating experience you've had
with the DVD Studio Pro Help documentation?
Using scripts. It could be better with a lot of examples. "To do that, try this one".
    • Do you prefer electronic or print documentation?
In electronic is easy to find things.
    • Are there any other delivery methods or media you
    think we should explore?
    • What size computer display do you typically use to
view the onscreen help? For example: 15-inch,
    17-inch, 20-inch, 23-inch, or 30-inch?
    I use AppleCinema 20

you view onscreen help? For example: 1024 x 768, 1280
    x 854, or 1920 x 1200 pixels?
    1650x1050

    No.

  • Epson R800  and CD/DVD printing

Using the Epson stylus photo R800 printer and its accompanying software Epson PrintCD, i started having problems printing to CDs.
Here is the basic recovery process that worked for me.
    1) I deleted the EPSON folder in system / Library / Printers.
    2) I used Apple's Software Update...; new epson software was found and installed.
    3) I rebooted the computer.
    4) Opened Epson PrintCD software and the file I wanted to print.
    5) Inserted the printable DVD disk.
    6) Opened the File menu and selected Page Setup (following instructions on page 68 of the User's Guide for the Epson printer).
    7) There is only one selection for the [Format for:] option *EPSON Stylus Photo R800*. This is a change from the manual, at least my old manual.
    8) The text under this option now reads *EPSON SP R800 (1)*.
    9) Set the next option [ Paper Size: ] as US LETTER (manual feed). This is another change from the manual. There is a triangle to the right of US LETTER which allows the manual feed option.
    10) Select [OK]
    11) Open the menu File Print.... dialog.
    12) I left it on the [ EPSON Print CD ] and did not alter any more settings and selected [ Print ].
If your window opens with different settings the EPSON Print CD option is the drop down after Printer: , Presets: , Copies: , Pages:. It appears in the dropdown list with layout, paper handling, cover page. etc.....
    Good Luck,
    I hope this helps.

Reefberry, you beauty! I just installed 10.5.6 and was not able to print CDs/DVDs using Epson Print CD on my Epson Stylus Photo R800 until I read your post. I did not have to delete the Epson Folder or any of that. My problem was I didn't realize under Page Setup, Paper Size, Letter there was the option for manual feed. Before your fix I could get Print CD to recognize the printer but when I tried to print the error message was out of paper or incorrect output tray. After changing to manual feed I am back in business (literally) again. Thank you!

  • D7560 DVD printing - custom template or custom position of image

How do I create a custom template or custom position images in order to print a CD or DVD directly on my D7560?
I do not want to use any of the templates in Photoessentials, or at least I'd like to customize one to fit what I want to do.  There is a "customize position" button on the "edit" page, but it's grey'd out and won't let me select it.
Can anyone help me with this?  Do I have to create a template in Photoshop and just import that as the image or is there actually an easier way to do this?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Photosmart C5380 CD/DVD print function not available

    Hello,
I've installed Photosmart C5380 under Windows XP using the latest driver downloaded from HP site. Opening HP Solution Center after installation, I've seen the CD/DVD print button is missing. Why?

    Hello!
I really wish I could see what you see.  I have never actually seen this function (in Solution Center) you are talking about so help me to understand something please:
The button was there at one point and after uninstall/reinstall it is no longer there?
Or, is it that the button is there but grayed out/unavailable?
Or was it visible on a different computer - if so what was the OS of that computer?
Have you ever successfully printed on a CD/DVD with this printer?
Just answer which one best describes the scenerio in which you are experiencing please.
Go to your Start Button>>All Programs>>HP>>C5380 series software, and please tell me what is listed in this folder so I can know for certain you are missing the software.
    Thanks!

  • DVD Printer (a printer capable of printing directly on a DVD)?

    Hello,
I hope this is the right forum for this question: has anybody had experience with DVD printers (a printer capable of printing directly on a DVD)? Is there a special kind of DVDs required for these printers? What printer works well, does anybody have experience with these?
A search on these forums brought no results. Also, I am not interested in label makers.
    Thanks!
    -Dima

Epson and Canon both have great ink jet printers that allow for dvd printing directly to the top surface (normally to a white surface dvd). For the past few years I've been using white surface Verbatim and a Canon Printer IP3000. Newer models do an even better job.

  • Do you make labels for the DVDs that you burn?

I am wondering actually how many people make special labels for the DVDs that they burn. Do you? In looking at the choices of Taiyo Yuden blank DVD-R for sale on Amazon.com, I see a lot of descriptors that I assume to be for people who plan on making special DVD labels, which means an extra software program to print them out etc etc etc.

Mary (That Girl, not That Guy),
First, "19 years" of video could be a nightmare of footage? How many hours of tape are we talking here? Depending on that, it seems like you have to do some cropping just to sit down and watch anything with your kids. If we are talking only a few hours of video total, for now I would just play the tapes on the tv through the video recorder itself. MOst video recorders have "Video out" and "audio out" that you should be able to plug right into your TV, just like a Gameboy or PS3, and once hooked up you would select the source, just like a VCR, DVD, PS3 etc from the TVs menu. you should have a remote control for that video camera as well so you can control it from the couch. Put the camera in play mode and go.
If you have eons of tape, you may still want to do that option for now, and just fast forward as needed. Afterall, sounds like for now this is not the documentary of your lives, but a trip down memory lane.
Or you could import it all to your computer using iMovie, but realize that every hour i think will take up about 12 GB of harddrive space and you may need to pre-purchase an external HD to import to.
IF you import all of it, you could play the EVENTS (entire clips) without creating a PROJECT (Chosen clips or parts of chosen clips), and you can play it full computer screen by clicking on one of the arrows at the bottom left of the iMovie screen, under the listed events. And you can play that full event computer screen on your TV with proper cables, depending on what Apple computer you are playing from and what outlets (video in etc) your TV has. ALSO you will need to send the audio to the TV separately through the earphone plug (audio out) to the computer's speakers (audio in).
I have no experience with APple TV, mixed reviews, but what i think it does is what a airport express does wirelessly with audio for iTunes and music, Apple TV does for video off your screen? I may be wrong. Basically it avoids the cables. Appleman likely knows this and how good appletv is.
also before you start importing, be 100% sure you know how you want to do it so you never have to do it again, read this entire thread:

  • Unable To Use DVDSP4 Presets for HD-DVD in the H.264 Format

I recently prepared a 23 minute slide show using Fotomagico from high resolution Hasselblad slides scanned in at 1200 dpi. Within Fotomagico I rendered the Fotomagico slide show to Apple ProRes 422 HQ, took it into Final Cut Pro 6.03 and added an intro and closing section. I then sent this to Compressor and selected the 30 minute HD-DVD preset which uses mpeg2. All went fine with the encoding to mpeg2 and I got a successful build and format out of DVDSP4 after importing the resulting .m2v file into DVDSP4. However, while the disk plays back fine in my Mac Pro it plays back with stuttering (audio and video) on my Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD player. I used a Verbatim Datalife DVD+R, but several other discs from other manufactuers including a DVD-R disc showed the same problem.
Please note that I have the latest firmware on my Toshiba HD-A2 and I have successfully burned RL HD-DVD discs using my PC and Windows software (Ulead's DVD Movie Factory 6+) which play fine without stuttering on my HD-A2.
I then decided to send the project to Compressor and use the 60 minute HD-DVD preset that encodes to H.264. Once again Compressor successfully executed the encode of my 23 minute slide show and it plays fine in QuickTime or MPEG StreamClip. However, every time I try and import this .mov file encoded in H.264 using the Compressor preset for HD-DVD into DVDSP4, DVDSP4 brings it in to the assets folder, but after a couple of seconds DVDSP4 crashes. Using console I get a message that DVDSP4 quit unexpectedly due to a "segmentation fault".
I also tried to take the ProRes Fotomagic project in Final Cut Pro 6.02 and send it out with Quicktime Conversion using the H.264 codec. Again I have a file that plays fine in QT, but when I try and import this .mov file into DVDSP4, I get the message "imcompatible format".
In summary, I am completely frustrated after many many hours of work at trying to prepare an HD-DVD on red laser of my slide show in DVDSP4. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong, and I would be most appreciative of any suggestions anyone may have.
    Thanks in advance.
    Tom

Am I the only person who has ever tried to use the Presets in Compressor 3 for encoding HD-DVD disks? I would like to use these presets for burning HD-DVD's to standard red laser media as I have done on my PC. With the mpeg2 Preset I can get nothing but stuttering video when played back on my Toshiba HD-A2 and when I use Compressor 3 to encode with either of the H264 presets, the resulting .mov file causes DVDSP4 to crash when I import the file. Has no one else experienced this? Does anyone have any thoughts on addressing these issues other than to go back to working on my PC?
