Recommend a database app for books?

Hi all,
i'm going back to university soon. I'll be consulting a lot of texts for this and for my future career. What I'm really after is something that will enable me to create headings of categories (I'm a theology student so let's say Jesus) and then lists of books with authors where that category is specifically referenced.
Ideally looking fpr something for both iPhone and Mac (trying to avoid old fashioned cue card method!)
Any suggestions?

or you can scan this to install it

  • What's the best database app for the ipad2

looking for a database for my ipad2 - i want to put my books on it so i don't buy the same ones over and over again

Yes a simple spreadsheet will do the trick. If you want a more sophisticated database just for books then search in the app store for 'My Library' and 'iBookshelf'
I personally use 'Delicious Library' on my mac with a companion app on iphone that syncs with the mac app. No Ipad app is out yet for this.
If you want a general Database for various uses then Bento would be the way to go.

  • Can anyone recommend a good app for designing and printing labels?

I have just switched from pc to mac and have pages on my macbook but it does not have a label function (please apple sort this out its the only major flaw!) so can anyone recommend a good app that will do what a pc does? I do not really want to pay £85+ for office for mac just for the word program

One way to find an app at the App Store is to use keywords.
Type   print labels   in the search field top right corner of the App Store window then press Enter or Return on your keyboard.
Click one of the apps listed. Always check Requirements under Information and definitely read customer reviews before purchasing and make sure there is a support link available in case you need to contact the app developer for questions.
This forum is mainly for troubleshooting the App Store.

  • Anyone recommend an email app for the Mac

Looking for an email app for the Mac

No. I don't use Entourage. You will find other email applications at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.

  • Looking for App for books owned (not ebooks)

Looking for a simple app to keep tracks of books I own. The only one I have been able to find is Clz books (collectorz.com).
It looks okay but something simpler would be better. And you need the app on your computer to add/edit anything.

Sounds like a database to me. On a Mac I'd recommend AppleWorks as the simplest and cheapest solution; on the iPad I guess I'd turn to Bento.

  • Recommended plug-ins/apps for panorama stitching in Aperture?

Does anyone have any recommendations for photo stitching plug-ins/apps that "play well" with Aperture?
I end up taking a large number of panorama series (horizontal, vertical, and occasionally 2D grid), and I would love to be able to select a stack in Aperture and "edit with plug-in" to create a stitched image (like Photomatix does with HDR series). Failing that, any recommendations of a reliable external app and a recommended Aperture workflow?
(I had been using ArcSoft Panorama Maker, but it has proven highly unreliable -- lots of crashes and inability to process a number of seemingly-straightforward series --, and its somewhat nonstandard UI becomes pretty cumbersome if you have to use it a lot.)
    Thanks!

    Mike,
I will share my workflow, but I cannot really recommend it as "best" since I have not tried other software or workflows, but it works well for me.
I do not use any plugin (and I'm not aware of one right now). I use Hugin, freeware from SourceForge http://sourceforge.net/projects/hugin/.
After importing RAW photos into Aperture (I use a managed library for the most part, but that's neither here nor there), I stack each set of photos that belong in the same panorama. I export the photos from each stack as TIFFs to a predefined folder that contains my pano input and outputs. I run the photos through Hugin and output as JPG files. Then I import those pano outputs as referenced photos into Aperture. For each pano output, I add it to the corresponding stack and make it the stack pick. I crop and do color adjustment if necessary on that final version. Finally, I go back to my predefined folder and delete the TIFFs that I exported from Aperture.
    A couple notes:
I use JPG as output since there are so many pixels in most panoramas that I could probably print it out large enough to cover my living room wall before seeing JPG artifacts.
I delete the TIFFs from my pano folder because they're just wasting space at that point. I can recreate them from my Aperture versions at any point, and I'm probably not going to use them outside Aperture.
It's really easy to add the pano to the stack of its "source" photos, since Hugin ensures the EXIF date matches the first photo in your pano. By sorting my date in Aperture, a newly imported pano shows up adjacent to the "source" stack.
I import the final JPG as referenced because I want to keep track of all the parameters saved in my Hugin project (I.e., what are the source photos; what were the control points; roll/pitch/yaw; pano algorithm, etc.). That project file is not a picture, so Aperture won't manage it. However, I store the final JPG in the same place as its corresponding project file. With a referenced master, I can use Aperture to show me the location in finder, an voila, I have found the Project file, too. If ever I need to recreate the pano for some reason, I can look at the project file and see what pictures I need to export from Aperture to start the process over again.
    Hope this is helpful!

  • My app for books locked up how do I unlock it?

My books app locked up and I can't read the books.  How do I unlock it?

Force quit the app. Hold down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then Let go of the sleep button. Then hold down on the home button until iBooks quits. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Can someone recommend a good app for learning to type on a MBP?

I have used Mavis Beacon previously on a PC and found it to be OK. Searching the web I haven't come across any conclusive reviews. Does anyone have hands on experience? I need to increase my typing speed and accuracy and spending so much time on a computer you realise how inefficent two+ finger typing is.

When you need software there are two places to go:
The Mac App Store which provides some user feedback, and
Macupdate which provides lots of feedback and also links to alternate similar software with ratings.
    Peter
btw Mavis Beacon was originally a Mac application and is still for the Mac.

  • Recommendation for a good "TO DO" app for Desktop/iPhone sync

    HI,
Can someone please recommend a good app for syncing desktop to iphone to do list.
    Thank you.

There is a nice free application that I use. It is Zenbe Lists. It actually syncs with a free web account that can be accessed from your desktop. Maybe not what you're looking for, but what do you have to lose if it's free? Good luck!

  • HT4009 How do I get app for Kendel books

  • Any recommended apps for sensitive data?

Anyone can recommend a good apps for storing sensitive data (i.e. login/password, credit card info)? Preferably with auto-fill function for sarfari, but not necessary to sync with computer at all.
I don't mind paying for it if it's good.
I saw others mentioned 'Firebox', but since there is no free trial version. Can any current user share their view?

    I already installed 1password.
It seems good enough for website login, but it doesn't have an entry template for credit card info.

  • Good apps for watching movies??

Any recommendations on good apps for watching movies on the Droid X?
Actually, I intend to convert privately owned movies on DVDs into movie format files and then transfer these files to my Droid X.
So any recommendations on apps for movie/video file players on the Droid X, and any recommendations for apps that convert DVD movies into files that can be watched on the Droid X with a suitabe app?
Multiple suggestions/ratings of different apps would be most welcome!
I hope everyone is enjoying their Droids/Droid X's.
    Take care,

    http://video-converter-software-review.toptenreviews.com/any-video-converter-pro-review.html
this is the pro version. i use the free version. it's called "any video converter." i have never tried to convert directly from a dvd though. however, i believe they are .avi files? if so, they are supported. it is extremely easy and i love it. but like i said, i've never tried directly from a dvd. so far i've only converted downloads to my devices.
    here's a nice top 10 review:

they all cost $ but i'd think some (like any video converter) have free versions that are slightly stripped down.
