Recommendation for iPhone 4 car mount?

After 4 to 5 unsuccessful attempts, I realised that iPhone 4 has its own peculiarities when it comes to car accessaries.
1. Mechanical fit is different from previous gens. This makes a high finish Griffin seat unusable.
2. Bumper socket slot opening makes most after market chargers unfit.
Anyone has a good suggestion?

Spiderpdoium is worth a look too, $20 direct, I love mine. It can goes between my Jeep and my wifes Ford within a few minutes and it leaves no marks. The legs are steel and very strong, but can be moved into any shape.

  • IPhone in-car mount recommendations ?

I've been looking around the IPhone store but I keep reading mixed reviews on the various IPhone in-car mount accessories. What I'm after is one that lets me rotate my IPhone from a vertical to horizontal position if I need to. Any recommendations ?

You don't need it for an iPhone, assuming that you have not made any unauthorised changes to the OS, such as jailbreaking.

  • Igrip holder for iphone in car

I've been wanting something to hold my iphone while I drive in a place where I could see the screen and be able to tap the buttons to make calls and also control the ipod functions. When I call I use my Jawbone so I'm hands free there and I attach to the AUX input on my stereo to hear the ipod.
What I wanted was one that attached to the cigarette lighter/aux power plug and had a rigid bendable arm so the iphone would be right there beside the steering wheel facing me. The only ones I could find (Griffin mostly) were the fm transmitter types for the ipod and I hate those and want to use the AUX input for the ipod.
I FINALLY found one made by Igrip that is exactly what I was talking about. The only weird drawback is that even though it does mount in the cig lighter/aux power plug - - it does not function as a charger for the iphone. But I have a seperate car charger so that's okay. I would post a link or pics but I have no idea how to do it. Google search igrip auto mount for iphone and you'll find it. They make a custom fit and a universal that both work with iphone. I went with the universal I use the agent 18 case and I think it will fit better without having to remove the case. 20 bucks on several sites.

    Hi Julian,
I have the Belkin and while it works faultlessly with all the family iPods and my iPod touch, when I connect my new iPhone3G it complains that the accessory was not designed to work with it.
After I cancel that message it does work, but there isn't a specific cradle adaptor supplied to hold it securely in place, unlike for the iPods.
I have no experience with the Griffin.

  • Recommendations For Iphone Apps!

    Hello,
Can I get some recommendations for  some apps I can use for my iphone.
    Thanks!

You can Google a term such as "essential iPhone apps" or "must-have iPhone apps" and you will get lots of results. People vary as far as which apps they like the best. I also check out the App Store on a regular basis to see what the Top 100 apps are. If a lot of people are downloading an app, it makes me curious about it, and I'm more likely to check it out.
    Happy app hunting!

  • Is iOS 6.0.1 recommended for iPhone 4S?

Some of my friends installed iOS 6.0.1 and they had their contacts erased, the map is not working properly, and so on..... Is it safe to install it on iPhone 4S or not?????????

Most never have an issue at all with any updates.
ios 6.0.1 is indeed designed for iphone 4s.
I have had no issues nor has anyone I know.
As always, everything should be on your computer.  How did your friends lose contacts?  They should have been syncing to their computers regularly.

  • What accessory would someone recommend for iPhone 5...

To play music in my 2008 Volkswagen Jetta SE that has an iPod Adapter in it. I am not looking to do anything truly difficult or extensive to be able to do this or use FM Transmitters. What could someone recommend for me?
    Thank you.

if you mean ipod adapter then a pin30 to new adaptor should work
otherwise anything can be connected to the minijack connector and would play analog audio
which would be played on anything with a analog input

  • Speaker Recommendations For iPhone 4

    Hi guys,
I am sure this question has been asked countless times but I still would love some input. I want to get a speaker set for my iPhone 4 and iPod Touch and this would be my primary music system. My budget is around 400-500USD and since I am in India, I may have to order it from abroad hence may not even able to test it. I had an Altec Lansing IM7 and now seeking to replace it though it was a great buy and worked outside as well.
I am really liking the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Mini but have not tested it in person and another option is the older generation of Bose. But at the same time I wonder if I should wait for an Airplay Speaker like the Zeppelin Air (though its way out of my budget 800USD).
Audio quality is the most important to me but at the same time it shouldn't be humengous. So any inputs would be really appreciated and recommendations on Airplay speakers would help too.
I don't know if this helps but I listen to a lot of piano rock, rock, acoustic performances and ambient music and sometimes movie scores.
    Thanks
    Tanya

You would be very happy with the sound on the Zeppelin Mini based on the type of music you listen to. Your only question is do you want to wait until there are more AirPlay devices on the market.

  • Recommendation for use in car/FM modulator

What is generally recognized as the top adaptor unit for playing an iPod in a car? I need to use an FM modulator type adaptor. I asked at my local Radio Shack, and was told that in this town, would have some issues with interference, as there were so many stations... I live in a town of a million population, I guess quite a few stations. Do not have the option of a line in on my Alpine CD unit. Have looked at Belkins, they look pretty good, but would like some recommendations either for a good unit- or- just as important, any to avoid. Thanks in advance for recommendations.
    Dell   Windows XP   iPod newbie

I have the belkins fm transmiter and I had a huge problem finding a good station. The problem was with the digital auto tunning in the radio. It would suddenly cut in a different staion as I crossed town. I had to create a pre set for each area. I do alot of Traveling around in my job so I found it easiest to just unscrew the antana and put it in the trunk. I love it though. Definitly find one with multiple stations to chose from.

  • Heart Rate Monitor Recommendations for iPhone 4S and/or iPod 3G?

I've recently started using the Nike+ app and sensor for tracking my walking/treadmill activity.  Unfortunately, it does not work on an elliptical machine, but it's still a lot of fun and I'm doing something good for myself in the process.
The next step is to track my heart rate during exercises, which requires a heart rate monitor (strap) that communicates back to an iPhone app.  I think I've exhausted the possibilities of getting any heart rate monitor to communicate back to the Nike+ app, unless I'm willing to purchase a brand new Nano and cut my music catalog down by a tenth, so that isn't happening.  So I'm looking at a heart rate monitor that will communicate with a widely used, reliable and/or low cost iPhone 4S app, preferably one that can work at the same time as the Nike+ app that is stock, resident and free on the iPhone and which I use and will continue to use while walking with the Nike+ sensor that gets attached to my shoelaces.
The next step is the heart rate monitor itself (strap).  Lots and lots of choices out there but all roads lead toward Wahoo Fitness and their combination ANT+ plug into the base of the iPhone, and the heart rate monitor strap.  Looks like I can get them both on Amazon for about $60, which is a lot cheaper than I saw elsewhere.  Very expensive line of products.  And lots of "hopefullys" - hopefully, it won't drain my battery down on moderate to long walks; hopefully, I can run their app and the Nike+ app at the same time without interfering with one another (they do have a stride sensor but that's just more money that I've already spent on the Nike+ sensor which works fine); and hopefully, the stock strap will fit a 52" - 54" chest (I'm a big guy, they offer no data, they have no contact number, I'd have a drop them a support email and just wait for a response, company reputation for customer service is not good).
So am I looking at the best choice for my needs, or has anyone else recently purchased a similar system for measuring heart rate, stride and/or any other critical components of their exercise routine?  I am up for suggestions and not making any purchases so fast.
Last but not least, my current Nike+ app and sensor also work with my old iPod 3G running iOS5, I'm hoping that whatever I wind up with will work on that setup as well.
    Thank you.

Thank you very much for the response.  I actually purchased and have already returned a Polar heart rate monitor strap and a Nike+ Sportsband.  I could not even get them to work, and the strap was very small on me (I've got a 54" chest).  All roads lead towards Wahoo, but customer support is ABYSMAL.  You basically have to email them a question and wait for a response back, they have no chat or phone.  Ridiculous.  Anyway, my questions to them are pretty basic, maybe you can answer:
1.) The strap that you recommend works only with the 4S, which is fine, but I also have an iPod 3G that I'd like to use as well.  Some of their other straps are compatible with both.
2.) There's no measurement on the Polar strap that I just returned, so I have no way of comparing the fit on one or more of these Wahoo straps versus the Polar one.  I know that I just need a big one (XXL or better).  How is the fit on the one that you have?
3.) The whole reason why I initially went the Polar/Nike+ route was to go with the least complicated setup to get real time data on stride, distance, calories, etc. PLUS heart rate.  All on pretty much two screens (iPhone and Sportband), and with the idea that I could still multitask during a workout (i.e. check email, send a text, toggle between any open apps, etc.).  All of my research so far indicates that a Wahoo setup is going to have problems with this.  First, the rumor is that no app using a Wahoo heart monitor strap is going to allow you to exit that app and still take active readings (again, this would not have been a problem with the Sportband, but I couldn't get it to work).  Then even if that works, I don't know if the chosen Wahoo app will be able to measure heart rate while Nike+ and a shoe sensor are still measuring stride, distance, etc. (i.e. will they interfere with one another?  Will I be forced to purchase the Wahoo stride sensor too, and then it gets back to which apps work with the stride sensor, will they allow multitasking, etc.?)
It would be SO much easier for me if these Wahoo folks had a PHONE and could answer my questions.  To make purchases, try things out, return them, etc. that's crazy.  Waiting a day or two for presales questions in this day and age is unacceptable, but that's where I'm at.  I'd appreciate your continued input on this.
Btw, there is a third option beyond Polar/Nike+ and Wahoo, and that's Garmin, but the app reviews were horrible.  Wahoo was the cheapest overall, I just need to know that it's going to work and serve my needs before making the purchase.
    Thanks.

  • Belkin Or Griffin For iPhone In Car?

I want to listen to music which is on my iPhone on my car radio.
I have no choice other than to go down the FM transmitter route.
Which should I go for? The Belkin TuneBase FM With Clearscan OR the Griffin RoadTrip With Smartscan?

  • Case recommendations for iPHONE

Is there a thread with suggestions for best cases? if not, what are you iPhoners loving?

I have both iphones and the biggest problem I had with the older one and now the new one is the cases. There are too many bulky cases that defeat the purpose of having a smart phone. The best hard case I found after buying seven of them is the Agent18 Shield. I have had it for all my ipods and have yet to get a scratch on my phone or ipod when dropped. The best part is it does not fall apart when you do drop it like many other bulky cases. The bad part about the Agent18 Shield is that there is no clip or holster for it to snap into it. You will have to carry it in your pocket. It is pretty slim though and less bulkier.

  • HT201198 Has everyone else had an issue with registration codes for iphone apple care?

Recently got an applecare for my new iphone5 and when i went to register the protection pack it told me it was an invalid code. Has anyone else had this issue?

Uhm, not sure why you are posting this here under "Cinema Displays"... in this particular forum you won't find too many folks wanting to read about iPhone or AppleCare trouble...
Anyway, and aside from your question, you best contact Apple or whoever you purchased AppleCare from.

  • Recommendations for iPhone Screen Protector

I have purchased both kinds you can get at the apple store and I just purchased another set at the AT&T. The ones at Apple are okay, but still impossible to put on without having air bubbles and the ones at AT&T are just cheap. With that being said, does anyone have any recommendations on the best screen protector you can buy. Call me a perfectionist, but I don't want ANY air bubbles and I want a screen protector that lasts longer than just a few months.
    Thanks!

The best one I've found is offered by 3M. It's a screen protector that has a special coating that makes it hard to read from any angle except straight on - great for prying eyes! Very durable protector, and applied easily with no bubbles. I highly recommend it! I ordered it direct from 3M, just Google it and it'll come up.
    Good luck!
