Recommendations for a bluetooth mouse?

Hello,
I've been looking for a Bluetooth mouse for a few weeks now to go along with my Macbook and after coming on here and reading some of the troubles that come along with them, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? I've never used an Apple mouse before, never really understood how the one click deal without the "right-click" worked, so i've been looking at other brands mostly. Would you even recommend the Bluetooth mice as opposed to a wireless one with a USB connector? Thanks!

I have the original wireless mouse (one "button") and a Logitech MX 1000 which is not Bluetooth but uses it's own wireless connection to a USB base station. The separate base station probably leaves this out of what you would be interested in for a laptop. However, my comments:
Both Mice work reliably and are accurate pointing devices. The original mouse uses the red laser. The Logitech mouse uses an infrared laser so its working is not obvious from the light of the mouse, although there is a combination activity/battery level LED that let's you know its working.
The Apple mouse is small, about the size of a bar of soap. The Logitech is a large lumpy affair that is molded to the shape of your right hand and fills it up. Some hate the small size of the Apple mouse. Some hate the large size of the Logitech mouse.
The apple mouse has one "button" (no discernable button, but you push on it and it clicks). The Logitech mouse has two buttons on top, a rocker button (3 switches) under the thumb, a scroll wheel, and a 4 way button run around the scroll where for a whopping 9 buttons plus wheel up/down/button of control.
The Apple mouse runs 2 to 3 months before needing to swap its 2 AA batteries. The Logitech mouse recharges itself in its cradle, which it needs about every 2 or 3 weeks depending on use.
My opinion is that mouse choices are very personal things. Some would pick solely on size/confort. Both are reliable. For gaming one-button mouse doesn't cut it, or leaves you at a severe disadvantage depending on the game. The infrared mice are more accurate based on product specs. The Apple mouse is an elegant lump of plastic sitting on your desk. The Logitech mouse is a big lump of Borg technology looking like a kid's toy sitting on your desk.
Hope that helps.

  • Recommendations for a Bluetooth/wireless mouse that is not a MIghty Mouse

I'm tired of having problems with my Bluetooth mighty mouse, and want to know what other people are using for a Bluetooth or wireless mouse. IMO, the trackball on the Mighty Mouse is a major design flaw, that is easily clogged with dirt or dust, and the frequent cleaning is either time consuming, or not very effective. I've tried pretty much everything ever suggested in these forums to fix the Mighty Mouse, and I'm to the point where I'd just rather something else, preferably a traditional two-button design, with a scroll wheel.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I give the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 five stars. Yeah, I know, how can MM from Apple be so bad, and anything from MS be great. The 8000 is a full 5-button mouse, 4-way scrolling, programmable, rechargeable, bluetooth mouse. Pairs easily with the bluetooth on my iBook or iMac. You can find it for around $60, but get this. You don't need the BT dongle, so sell it on eBay and recover your $60.
Microsoft doesn't officially support the 8000 on Mac, but Mac drivers come on the CD. You install the CD drivers, then download Intellipoint 6.1 and install only the mouse for full functionality.

  • Recommendations for a Bluetooth trackball

I much prefer a trackball (scroll wheel, multiple buttons) to a mouse , but would like to get one that doesn't use up a USB port. Most of the wireless ones use a transmitter that goes in a USB port, so are no better than one that is hard wired. The Kensington Slimblade looked good, but several people complained about dirt getting in, with no way of cleaning it.
So, do any of you have positive recommendations?
    Thanks

  • Solution for MS Bluetooth Mouse 5000 pairing problem

I had a problem with my MS bluetooth mouse 5000 pairing with my MacBook that I thought I should share. When I first bought the mouse, it paired with no problem at all. But after about 2 weeks it disconnected for some unknown reason. Thinking it was a problem with the mouse, I replaced the batteries, and even exchanged it for a new mouse. After going through the Mac bluetooth pairing process and trying out a number of solutions I saw posted on various bluetooth subjects, I could not get it to work - during the pairing process, it came up with various errors indicating that the pairing process failed.
Finally, from another post, I did the following:
    - removed all references to the mouse in the bluetooth list under Open Bluetooth Preferences.
    - I then did a PRAM reset per Apple's suggested procedure (Command-Option-P-R during start up).
Once this completed, I was able to get my mouse to successfully pair with my MacBook.

I had the same problem. The cure is to boot off of the OSX DVD and when it attempts to find a mouse hold down the connect button on the bottom of the mouse. Keep holding it down until OSX recognizes the mouse. It may take a minute or two. After the mouse has been recognized you can exit before the installation requires software to be transferred. Then just select a normal reboot on the exit menu option.

  • Recommendations for a Bluetooth iSynch-capable cell phone Not Motorola

    Hi all,
I am in the market for a new phone that willl enable me to interact with iCal and Address Book. I have always hated the Motorola menu systems, currently have a Sony Ericcson Z500, and had great success a long time ago with Nokias in the Wintel environment. I really want something that allows me to use whichever device (phone, MBP) is appropriate in the moment, without risk of screwing up the synching, etc. I'm betting there's tons of experience on this list, and I'm confident that you people will send me loads of advice and tips, all gratefully recieved!
Best regards, and thanks in advance!

  • Recommendations for Bluetooth GPS for N95

Has anyone got any recommendations for a Bluetooth GPS receiver (to improve the dire performance of the inbuilt one) available in UK?

I bought the Nokia N95 8GB for its 'all in one device 'convenience.
I bought an external Bluetooth GPS, not because the inernal was no good, or not accurate enough but because I did not want to destroy it with vibration and rain, strapped to the handlebars of my Yamaha XT225
I want to create tracks (kml?)that map out the roads, lanes and footpaths of Cebu, Philippines using my Motorbike, in places the car could not go.
I decided on the Wintec G-Rays2 (WBT-201). This is more than just a Bluetooth GPS, as it has a 'logger' function also (collecting up to 131,072 waypoints). It is also much quicker at acquisition than the internal GPS (34 seconds or if data is still in memory 4-33 sec).
Even in a car, the WBT-201 G-Rays2 unit, can be positioned on the dash, whilst from anywhere in the car, the N95 receives the NMEA0183 format data stream giving position, speed, altitude and time, together with estimated error and satellite status.
'Sports Tracker' works very well with this for receiving the data stream 'live'. Once 'captured' it has many 'export' formats of the captured information. Test 'Tracks' of the same 'Route' using the internal GPS and another time the WBT-201, show the external unit to be more accurate. Having said that, the internal GPS is actually pretty good at capturing the same track.
The only real 'negative' of the WBT-201, is the 'TMXTool' software (for configuring the settings, on the go, rather than connected to a PC), is for PPC, and not S60. However the 'TimeMachineX' software is OK for 'Windows' use.

  • Is it Possible to have different sensitivities for trackpoint and bluetooth mouse.

I have an x200. I recently purchased an interlink electronics bluetooth mouse and connection and setup worked great.
The only problem is that the sensitivity that is good for my tackpoint is WAY too sensitive for the mouse.
Is there a way to set up different sensitivities for the bluetooth mouse and the trackpoint so that i don't have to toggle the sensitivity every time I plug in my mouse?

Thanks, but I understand the varying inherent sensitivities. I was just wondering if i could adjust a setting or install drivers or something that will automatically change the sensitivity setting when my mouse is connected to the computer. I'm looking for that or something that will specify sensitivity settings for my mouse without affecting the trackpoint.
I have an x200 running Vista Ultimate with the lenovo trackpoint drivers.

  • Bluetooth mouse

Hi I'm looking for a bluetooth mouse with a scroll wheel and a button to navigate backwards in browsers. I'm thinking about the microsoft one but I heard it requires the dongle in order to work and I'd prefer to use the built in mac bluetooth.
    Thanks.

How strange - I just posted a comment on the BT Mighty Mouse in the Tiger Discussions -

I don't know whether it will flavor your thoughts on it or not, but it hasn't been all what's cracked up to be for me so far.
The trackpad and the stupid keystroke/clicks of the MacBook are beginning to look attractive again.

  • Problem with bluetooth mouse setup at startup and no usb mouse functions

Today for the first time ever I got this screen for bluetooth mouse setup at startup. I've never seen this before and have no bluetooth devices. Very weird! It continues to search for a blue tooth mouse and won't let me do anything. The window says "Pairing with your bluetooth mouse. If the mouse is not found, make sure it is discoverable" My generic usb scroll mouse will not function and has always worked fine in the past. I tried plugging in the stock apple usb mouse also and this doesn't function either so there is no way to cancell this out. I've restarted several times and no luck ,can't login and no mouse functions. Just continues to search for a bluetooth mouse . This has me worried as this is recording studio computer and I have a session tomorrow . Any ideas how to get this to bypass this bluetooth window so I can startup and login and get my mouse functions back.
    thanks,Craig

Solved it on my end... Hope you're not afraid of using some Unix programming...
I went into Unix mode (start up holding command key and s-key down). black screen with lines of white type pop up. (Means you are now in Unix mode). Give it a few minutes to check all the computer and when it no longer keeps adding any further info on screen type "fsck -fy", that is fsck space minus sign fy and without the quotation marks - exactly as shown inside quotation marks, and hit enter. It will run for several minutes detecting all that makes your computer work... I had in the final lines a message that read "file system modified". If this is the case than re-enter the fsck -fy command. Repeat this until one of the final lines will read "the volume appears to be OK". (I only had to do it twice to get to it). At this stage type "reboot". My mac restarted and I could log in without any sign of the annoying bleutooth mouse message. Hope it will work for you too!

  • Howto disable Bluetooth Mouse search

How could i disable the search for an bluetooth mouse after startup?

If you really want to turn off only the mouse search, but leave the search alone for other BT devices, that's something else. I don't think it's possible, since BT has to first discover a device in order to know what it is.

  • TrackPoint, Touchpad and Bluetooth Mouse

    Hi there,
I tried to get my SE K800i working as a Bluetooth mouse in X. On my Desktop everything works fine. I just use /dev/input/mice with the "mouse"-driver in xorg.conf and as soon as the BT mouse connects, I can use it.
Unfortunately I can't do this on my laptop (ThinkPad T41). I have to configure each mouse separately to make full use of the stick and touchpad, so I can't use /dev/input/mice. The BT mouse will always show up as /dev/input/mouse3.
Is there a way to configure X, so that it recognizes /dev/input/mouse3 as soon as it shows up? I don't want to restart X every time I have to use the BT mouse (mostly for presentations).
    Thanks,
    Pavel

I know you did, I was simply explaining fully (perhaps other people have this issue too and would like to know more). When I said 'mouse pointer speed' I simply meant 'pointer speed' (i.e. for both devices, not for the +bluetooth mouse+), the terminology is confusing.
The Pointer Speed slider in the Pointer Options of the Mouse control panel is not, strictly speaking, for the external/bluetooth +mouse+, but a system-wide, global option for the +pointer+.
I guess I knew there wouldn't be an easy answer. If Toshiba/Synaptics take note of these forums, perhaps we can look forward to a solution.

I hav a G4 17" running leopard os x 10.5 and am having an issue at startup.  My computer will randomy begin searching for a bluetooth mouse in setup mode which freezes the trackpad.  I have never had a bluetooth mouse.  In the past the only solution was to force the computer off by holding doen the power button, remove the battery and power and hld the power button down for 10 seconds to clear it.  No that is not working.
How can I force quit the Bluetooth Mouse Setup using the keyboard?
    Help!

Have you tried plugging in a USB Mouse?
    Try CMD+Option+esc
If you get it started up, might turn off BT in it's Pref Pane if you have no BT devices.
