Recommendations for ipod dock/alarm clock for ipod classic
I want to get a reasonably priced ipod doc/slash alarm clock for my son. He has a 6th generation ipod classic purchased in December of 2009. Any suggestions?
The dock adaptor that came with the iPod is meant to fit Apple's universal dock and not a 3rd party accessory.
The reason you are having issues is because although the dock connectors on iPods are all the same (the pins are in the same place), the connector on the second gen nano is in a slightly different place than on the first. If you look at it from the bottom with the iPod face up, it's slightly more to the left. This, and the fact that it has a metal case with rounded edges, has made the new nano incompatible with almost all these type of accessories.
It's been mentioned here several times, and a few people have been able to get the manufacturer of the dock to supply them with an adaptor.

Looking for a good sound dock/alarm clock for iPOD Touch 4
I saw one other post asking about a sound dock here and out of the 3 responses, I think only the Bose was mentioned.
I was just curious if and/or what sound dock/alarm clock combos you all would recommend? I just got a hold of the White Noise app and I would like to be able to use it through a sound dock in my bedroom as I sleep with a fan at night and the audio output on the iPOD Touch itself is not loud enough.
I don't want to spend an arm and a leg either on a sound dock/alarm clock if at all possible.

WhiteiceAltec Lansing. Im using the 'inMotion compact' and for its size it gives a h*ll of a punch with bass wise. As for as price goes, its reasonable.

Which iPod is it?
If it's the newest generation iPod dock, then it probably won't as the new iPod is much thinner than the iPhone 5. It also depends on the shape of the dock (if it has a thin space for the iPod device). Do you think you could add a picture. I will give a more direct suggestion of you can.

Hi, since most recent update (IOS 5.1.1) to my iphone 4s, I am experiencing problems(ONLY SINCE MOST RECENT IOS 5.1.1.UPDATE) with my 'iluv' IMM173 DUAL DOCK ALARM CLOCK DOCKING STATION.
Every time I connect my iphone it causes the docking station to crash/freeze and become totally non-responsive. However, if I remove my iphone, then connect my wife's
iphone 4 (IOS 5.0.10) The docking station then syncs time and date as normal with the iphone, and reverts back to function normally.

From the locked screen, swipe the camera icon upwards to open the camera app. This is a new feature in 5.1. -
Ipod nano 2nd gen and dock/alarm clock
i have read through alot of the posts and have not seen anything similar to my question.
i got my daughter an ipod nano for xmas.
we really dont leave the computer on alot and she was wanting a docking station/speaker setup. i found one that charges it/ has speakers and is also an alarm clock.
she likes the idea of having the alarm clock with it.

we have not hooked it up yet because of a small problem maybe. (hooked up to power that is)
it came with a bunch of different adapters for the different ipod versions. well the nano one is incorrect. i guess due to ours being a 2nd gen version.
the ipod goes right on the dock fine with out it.
the little plastic adapter i got with the ipod kinda works in the slot of the radio but would need a little modification to snap in. the difference is the outside shape and would just needed some sanding. i have called the support number for the radio and all i could get from the was its not compatable. and i am not too sure why.
from what i have found out is all the ipod dock connectors are the same and there is no difference. not sure about this just what i have noticed.
i tried to call my local apple store and ask them but that guy started talking about firewire and problems. i told him how it docked and what it was and he still insisted on talking about firewire and those problems. i hung up as it didnt sound like he knew anything.
so now would i be ok in useing the adapter i got with the ipod and makeing some slight mods(sanding outside edge) to it. or is the something totally different between the 1st gen and 2nd gen that would mess up the ipod if put in this unit.
the reason i want this unit as it will replace her current alarm clock and she has a loft bed and its the only unit that we have seen that will fit and is in our price range.

Can I set the ipod on my iPhone to work as an alarm clock? If not is there an app for that?
You can use the built-in clock with ringtones as the alarm sound. You can pre-set multiple alarm times and repeat on selected days. +Goes To Eleven+ from MacMost iPhone Ringtones is particularly good if you're a heavy sleeper like me. Just check your speaker isn't muted before you go to sleep.

I was sent an email from Apple saying that i can use my ipod nano as an alarm clock, and thats true...i can, however it also said, wake up to your favourite track......
heres the problem, all i can get is a setting for a beep, not to have it come alaive at the set time with my favourite track...

So, create a playlist (with just one track if that's all you want) and select this to wake up to.

I find myself using alarm clock all the time and not the timer under the bottom quick control pane. Why hasn't Apple changed that?

IPod Dock Won't Charge iPod Classic 3rd Gen
Hi,
I have an iPod Classic 3rd generation that is running Version 2.3 with the Capacity of 13.9 GB.

The problem: this iPod Classic will not charge on ANY iPod Dock. No matter what brand or type, as long as it is the standard iPod Dock, it will not charge at all. It also has trouble playing songs and stops midway.
I have an iPod Touch 4th Gen and it works fine on the same dock.
Is there anything I can try to fix this problem for my iPod Classic? I tried connecting it to iTunes, restored it and updated it to the latest firmware.
Please try and solve this problem.Playing songs doesn't work either. The first song will play for 30 so seconds then will stop and the iPod will freeze until I unplug it.
Is there any way to work around this problem. Maybe some type of an adapter that the iPod sits on, and the adapter then sits on the dock so that it can transmit everything properly. I do not believe that the only solution is just to buy an older dock. -
IPod Touch Alarm clock stopped signaling.
Last night (morning NY Day), after midnight New Year's Eve, I set the alarm for 7:15 and it did not go off. Later I tested it by setting the alarm for a minute later than the current time. Same thing. Nothing happened, the icon showed that the alarm was still set.
Is there an issue with the time not passing either noon or midnight in order to engage? I don't believe I ran into this problem before and I need the alarm to work Tuesday morning.
I've never had any previous problem with the alarm sounding at the correct time.
Thanks for any help or advise before I go looking for a third party app.Fixed the problem by doing a complete reset, including erasing all data and media, and restoring from a backup.
