Recommended eMail Account to go With MAIL?

Hi. I currently have a Yahoo email account. I've been using it since i began college so i have a few reasons to stick with it.
however, with recently purchasing the macbook and wanting to take full advantage of it, i want to use MAIL which sits on my dock. I looked into it and Yahoo Mail only forwards it to MAIL if i upgrade my yahoo account and pay a $20 a year. Not worth it to me, just to forward email.
So i'm not looking into switching and creating an email account somewhere else. This is where I ask for help.
...Like, what would you recommend? I obviously need something that sends email to MAIL on my dock for free.
I heard Gmail was great since it holds more storage than yahoo. Yahoo holds 1gb and hear gmail does 4gb's.
...I also need an account i can access anywhere. What i love with yahoo is being able to sign on and get something i need from any computer. I've done this numerous times at my college or at a friends house. (I'm assuming gmail can be accessed anywhere right?)
The only place i've looked at is gmail, since my cousin told me about it and said he'll send me a required invite to join. Anywhere else I might want to look into?
Thanks!

A Gmail account is free but this link provides information on the differences between a free Yahoo email account and a Yahoo Mail Plus or paid account which is only $20/year or $1.67 per month.
http://mailplus.mail.yahoo.com/
A 20 MB overall message size limit for received and sent messages is not a big plus unless you are exchanging such a large message with fellow Yahoo Mail Plus users since the majority of ISP's and email account providers have an overall message size limit of 10 MB for received and sent messages.
You get 2 GB of storage instead of 1 GB and can access your account with a cell phone if your cell phone includes this option along with some other additional benefits I know nothing about along with being able to keep your current Yahoo email address.
I understand being in college and having a tight budget but $20/year which amounts to $1.67/mo is nothing IMO especially if keeping your current email address is important to you.
You can get a Gmail account if you're invited by someone who already has one or you can sign up for an account using your mobile phone.

  • Cant create email account but can with windows live mail

I have an email account that thunderbird just wont create I have contacted my isp and have all the settings correct but everytime i get a message saying. Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account. but on my other email account with charter thunderbird set it up just fine. but when i used the settings to set up the email account in windows live mail it worked. My isp told me its a problem with thrunderbird. can someone help me please.

Not a problem with Thunderbird, a problem with your anti virus blocking Thunderbird from accessing the internet.
the configuration for charter is here https://autoconfig.thunderbird.net/v1.1/charter.net
If Thunderbird can not find it, it is because it can not connect.
Check the firewall component of the anri virus and make sure Thunderbird has full access to the internet.

The iPad's Mail app has no provisions for creating groups. However, you can use a third party app that many users recommend.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • How do I fully delete an email account from my Apple Mail app on my iMac?

    Hello all,
How do I fully delete an email account from my Apple Mail app on my iMac?
When I go here: Mail > Preferences Mail > Accounts
I got the message that I needed to delete it from my Internet Accounts.
When I go here: System Preferences > Internet Accounts > select the account >
I cannot select or click the minus sign on the bottom left to delete the account because it does not appear in the list.
Yet the email account still shows up in my email logs with errors that it cannot connect.
The email account no longer appears in the left column where all my email accounts are in Apple Mail as I have deleted that domain and no longer use it, so the email was deleted at the server level. However, again, the email account still shows up in my email logs with errors that it cannot connect.
    This is driving me bananas!
Thank you for any help you can provide!
    ~ Angela

If you haven't already done so, please quit and relaunch Mail. See whether the account goes away.

  • Will iCloud sync all email accounts connected to the mail application?

Will iCloud sync all email accounts connected to the mail application?

The questions on mail and MobileMe are ones that I have, too. But another question/issue that I have is the inability for my iPhone to separate calendars for me. I have 2 work calendars and one personal calendar. Plus I have a family calendar. I would really like to be able to look at my calendars on the iPhone and see what I have for personal, family and business. I was able to do this with my old Blackberry.
When I looked at the video for MobileMe, it seemed to accomplish this on the computer (mac or pc) but I don't remember seeing the iPhone give good distinction between different calendars (i.e. syncing different calendars or separating them by colors).
    Any thoughts?

  • I need help streamlining my email accounts. Can Apple Mail and iCloud work with comcast and gmail?

I have been using Apple Mail to manage four email accounts. I want to consolidate the four email accounts: icloud, gmail, and 2 comcast accounts. And I want them to sync across my devices, iMac 2009, running Mavericks, ipad and iphone (both running IOS7). I have been using comcast for my work account(s), but they do not sync between devices.
If possible, I would like to keep using Apple Mail as my main email client. I do not mind trashing some of the email accounts (which is probably a choice I need to make).
In light of upgrading to Mavericks and ios7 what is the latest thinking on this issue?

iCloud will only deliver mail from your iCloud account.  What you can do is set up email forwarding with your other accounts to forward incoming email to your iCloud address, then tell all your contacts to send email to your iCloud address.  (Comcast accounts are POP3 rather than IMAP so you won't miss these accounts.  I set up forwarding from Comcast to iCloud a long time ago.)

  • BEST FREE EMAIL ACCOUNT THAT SYNCS WITH LEOPARD "MAIL"

Which provider of free e-mail synchronises best with "mail". Yahoo you need to pay to work with Mail and I am looking for something that works, is free and preferably isn't Google - any thoughts?

www.fastmail.fm works for me. Free IMAP accounts with 10MB of storage. Not a lot, but free is free. Enhanced Fastmail accounts with more storage space and more features are pretty cheap.

  • Best way to have multiple emails across multiple Macs with Mail?

So I have 2 Macs, and 3 email accounts (GMail, GoDaddy, and my university)...and I have all accounts set up on both machines, but I only receive email on one of them...if both are open, they randomly go to one, and if only one is open, it goes to the open one. How can I set it up so that all emails go to BOTH computers?
    Thanks!

    Scott,
Looking for some support/advice on a multiple-computers/same account issue.
One group that I do some IT for have about 12 staff members, each armed with a laptop (Mac of course). Their mail accounts are set up as POP (as recommended by our hosting company ((paetec)) due to the volume of messages). Everyone likes POP.
There are three administrative assistants at the main office who monitor/check the POP accounts for the staff who are off-site with laptops. So "joe" is checking/sending e-mail on the road from his MacBook, and his assistant is also checking/saving "Joe's" mail back at the office. The staff want it set up this way and depend on this double checking system (no sales/customer inquiry is ever missed)
Is this a recommended use of Mail.app? Anyone else use a similar set up?
So, let's say the admin staff have about 10 to 12 accounts on their iMacs, constantly fetching the same mail the POP users may or may not have read yet.
A big problem I have is a bulk of junk/spam/old messages that are piling up on the server. I don't know why their are so many (in the GBs), because I try to keep everyone's Mailbox Advanced settings the same (download to the local machine, remove from server, after so long). But it is not working.
The messages on the server pile up and I don't know why. Without having everyone's laptops in front of me, or checking all their settings through Remote Desktop, I'm not sure where the problem is?
Another problem is the occasional re-download of duplicate messages from the server to a specific POP account. What triggers Mail.app to do that? A date, a file size, a bug? That is when the tons of un-removed mail from the server really ties up/slows down the admin assistant's mail.app.
    (which I thought was removed!)
    Any advice/thoughts welcome.
    Thanks
    bc

  • TS3276 I have two email accounts set up on Mail.  One shows the unread messages and the other one doesn't... how can I get it to show both account's unread messages?

I have two email accounts set up on my Mail application.  Both pull in and send just fine but ever since I upgrade the exchange sever and re-setup the account It won't show the unread (number) to the right of the inbox?  The other one shows up just fine.  Any clues would be great!  Thank you.

  • How do i get my icloud email account set up in mail on our new mac.

How do i set up my iCloud account on our new Mac  My family have set up their Sky, gMail, & hot mails accounts really easily yet mine just woun't work keep hetting a message unable to conect to outgoing mail server.
why are 3rd party accounts so easy to set up and my apple one keeps failing  Help...

Thanks - its 1 month old (max), the OSX version is 10.8.4 we already have iCloud set up on my iPhone 4S & this iMac.
I try to tick mail in the cloud menu but get an error message telling me "iCloud mail couldn't be enabled from the iCloud Preference Pane. Open mail and add iCloud account from Mail preferences"
when I do that i get the message " the icloud IMAP server p15-imap.mail.me.com is not responding. Try checking the network conection, and that the server name is correct. Otherwise, the server may be temorarily unavailable.  If you continue you may not be able to recieve messgaes.
we thought the incoming server name looked odd (p15- imap.mail.me.com) but its greyed out and can't be edited even though other 3rd party accounts can.

  • Verizon Email accounts and Windows 8 Mail App

I will be upgrading to Windows 8 and will like to use the Windows desktop maill app for my Verizon.net account.
However, in all of the preview editions of this app, including the one I upgraded to today, the app does not support POP3 mail accounts. I does support IMAP accounts.
They suggest that I contact my email vendor to see how I can retrieve my email by configuring it as an IMAP or an EAS account.
Does anyone know how to set one of these up for Verizon.net mail accounts?

Verizon doesn't support either of those options, you may have to use a different mail app.
Millions of users have email accounts that rely on POP3 mail servers. Many ISPs even give their users POP accounts by default, but don’t tell that to Microsoft as the company steadfastly refuses to support POP3 in Windows 8′s built-in email.
You have no particular obligation to use the built-in Windows Mail, but it is currently the only email client for Modern UI. You can install any of dozens of desktop email applications including Windows Live Essentials mail, Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird. However, if you want to use the built-in Mail with a POP account, there’s a workaround that involves routing your messages through an online service such as Gmail, Hotmail or Outlook.com.
The steps below describe how to use Outlook.com to retrieve your POP inbox in Windows 8′s Mail.

  • Having trouble removing a student email account from the Windows Mail App because the school has started using office 365 for thier email which i dont have access to

I was wondering if anybody has any ideas on how to remove a gmail account that was set up by a community college for use on their mail servers and then find out that after awhile they have locked you out because they have started using office 365 for their
emails and you are left with a student email account that you have no idea how to delete because you have missied out on deleting it before they changed to a different email provider?
Anybody with ideas please help because I don't know what to do

    Hi,
Regarding to Windows Mail App, do you mean the Modern UI App in Windows 8.1? Do you mean that you want to remove the email account from Mial App? Generally, we can simply remove the account by the "Account" option in Mail App (Open Mail App, move
the mouse the right chram bar, click Account, then click the mail account\Remove account), but if the email acocunt is tied with the Microsoft Account which is used on the pc, in that case, it is unavailable to remove the email account, you need to contact
your college to disconnect the Microsoft Account.
If I'm misunderstanding something, please free correct me.
