Recommended MDS9148 NX-OS for IVR

Hello,
In reference to your experience and Cisco recommendations, which MDS9148 NX-OS is the most appropriate for IVR functionality?
Regards,
Pawel

Hi.
I asked about recommended MDS9148 NX-OS version, because of surprising behaviour of IVR zones.
I've pasted content of my another post to this post and I've deleted the origin post.
What should I do, when I get the following CLI output:
Device 50:......:b0 - Unexpected PV global flags
Device 50:......:b0 Vsan: 100 - Unexpected per-VSAN PV flags
PVM: AFID:1 Vsan:100 Virtual domain:120 Pwwn: 50:......:b0 - Unexpected flags
PVM: AFID:1 Vsan:100 Virtual domain:120 Pwwn: 50:......:b0 - Adv Switch Mask & RSCN mask do not match
In result of this CLI output, IVR zone member 50:......:b0 is online in IVR zone (which communicate devices from VSAN X and VSAN Y), but is offline in VSAN X zone or in VSAN Y zone.
Any suggestions?
Regards
Pawel

  • Configuring Persistent FC IDs for IVR

Has anybody configured this for  IVR ? I use persistent FC IDs for my regular VSANs because i have a  couple of AIX boxes. I will also have a couple of them access storage  via IVR, dynamic tracking is not enabled on the host so i am wondering  if i should enabled persistent fc id for IVR ?
    Thanks

    Sure
Assuming a single MDS using vsan 1 and vsan 2, both vsans using domain ID 0x12.
HBA is pwwn1, Storage is pwwn2
    config term
This is to export the storage array that resides in vsan 2, into vsan 1 as fcid 0xaa3344
    ivr fcdomain database autonomous-fabric-num 1 vsan 1
    native-autonomous-fabric-num 1 native-vsan 2 domain 0xAA
      pwwn pwwn2 fcid 0xAA3344
This is to export the hba that resides in vsan 1, into vsan 2 as fcid 0x232323
    ivr fcdomain database autonomous-fabric-num 1 vsan 2
    native-autonomous-fabric-num  1 native-vsan 1 domain 0x23
      pwwn pwwn1 fcid 0x232323
If there are multiple MDS in the IVR topology, these entries would need to be included in each of the IVR enabled MDS.
You can use CFS to form peers amongst the IVR enabled switches and then use the 'ivr commit' to propagate the config command to the other MDS.
In this example, domain ID 0x23 can not already exist in vsan 2, nor can any switch join vsan 2 using domain ID 0x23.  The same is true for vsan 1 and domain 0xAA.
Lastly, this example does reflect overlapping vsan IDs.  That is why both vsan 1 and 2 are in autonomous-fabric (AFID).  Had there been multiple MDS, and overlapping VSAN numbers (IDs), then to use IVR, those overlapping VSANs must be configured in different AFIDs.  Basically you can have a device in vsan 1, domain ID 0x12 and using IVR NAT have it zoned with another device, in another MDS, in vsan 1, using domain ID 0x12, as long as the vsans are in different AFIDs.
The intent is not to design SANs this way, but if you have case where 2 existing SANs need to have some devices communicate, and neither SAN can change the existing vsan numbers and domain IDs, there is a way to connect the 2 devices and let them remain in the same vsan keeping the same FCID.
I would always recommend putting these static entries in place, before creating and activating the IVR zoneset.  I would not recommend adding in the static entries (unless they matched what was currently in use) , as I am not sure if the MDS would log out the devices to enforce the new static mappings.  It may only use the database when the zoneset is activated, or it could put it into effect immediately.
-now you know what I know

Pair a wireless KB with the laptop and all should be well when you attach the laptop to the iMac and invoke TDM. But as Denny mentions, it does seem like the waste of a good iMac to use it in just this configuration. Why is the laptop primary?

And are you sure they will all develop onto the same database (would be strange to me) ?
2.Prod Server : 20,000+ End user concurrent connections (web connections)Same question, whether you may have 20,000 end users, are you really sure they all will be connected at the same time (simultaneously) ?
Bear in mind, if you have the application available for users around the world, some may sleep when others may work, that dramatically can reduce the simultaneous connections.

  • What is recommended as virus protection for Mac?, What is recommended as virus protection for Mac?

What is recommended as its protection for MacBook pro.

See my Mac Malware Guide. Although you certainly can do without anti-virus software, there is malware out there, so you do need to be aware of how to stay safe online.

Please recommend personal finance software for Mac that allows month to month analysis of spending by categories.  Quicken on a PC was good at this.  Mint seems very limited.

Quicken for Mac 2007 works just fine (and is said to be compatible with Mavericks).  It is often denounced for not being "modern", but when something works, and does everything I want, I need a good reason to switch.
A few years ago (2011), I got that reason when I upgraded OSX and Quicken stopped working due to the absence of Rosetta.  I switched to iBank.  I used it for more than a year.  It was cumbersome, they have no sense of a helpful user interface, but it "works".  I found ONE feature that I liked:  you can attach an image (or any file) to a register entry, so I can save receipts right with the register.
But when Intuit came out with the revised Quicken 2007 for Mountain Lion, I gladly went back.  I found that being able to update stock prices right in the portfolio view (for those not automatically found online) was handy - in iBank you have to generate a report to see the holdings, and then you have to switch to a view of "Securities" then scroll down through that list to find your stock, then "edit" then change the price, then "Save" then go back to reports and re-generate the portfolio view.  Also, if you enter a stock purchase in a Quicken register, the price you paid gets added to the price history for the stock (as of the date of the transaction).  No such help in iBank.  Most of the helpful UI features (like increasing the date with the + key) are glaringly missing in iBank.  I find I am getting no more than about 3-4 keystrokes before having to move the mouse and click.
If you are considering sharing the app on an iPad, Quicken won't work, but I found that iBank for iPad doesn't work either.  The interface is completely different from the Mac version, you can't do much with it, and if you have a stock whose price is $11.25 / share and sell 200 shares, you might find that $22.50 gets added to your cash in the account.  (I actually made a few million dollars when it decided that 200 shares at $11.25  yielded $2,250,000.)  Luckly, I received a refund for that app.
Depending on how the Mavericks switch goes, I hope to be able to stick with Quicken, but I am keeping my records up-to-date in both now, because I can live with iBank.  I will just have to keep an eye on its arithmetic.

  • Please recommend a good sleeve for the pismo

    Hi,
Can any of you loving pismo owners please recommend a good sleeve for our beloved pismos. I'm looking for one that would fit the pismo pretty much like a glove, so it won't slide and then I can put the pismo in an another bag.
Thanks so much for your suggestions!

I bought a perfect sleeve for mine from Timbuktu. This was a few years ago and I'm not sure they carry it anymore (look on eBay?). I see that the manufacturer makes other sleeves that look nice, too, now. Mine fits the laptop like a glove. It's open at the top with two cloth-padded handles and a strap that snaps into place over the middle of the opening. The padding is nice and thick -- about 1/2." I lugged it in my backpack all around Europe for a summer and it came through just fine.

  • Is it Possible in JSF? Can anyone recommend any java Technology for this?

I am doing Post Graduate Degree in Computer Science. This is my final semester and doing project work.
Any body having idea about my requirment, help and guide to me
My description and questions are as follows:
    Current Approach:
PHP has been used to achieve the flexibility of creating custom images on-the-fly. Using this approach we were able to create a web-interface similar to the application client, where we could display links and get the exact look and feel of the application client.
    Drawback:
This approach forces us to use two different technologies Java and PHP, since our system uses 'Java' accessing all the API's from PHP becomes a problem. while PHP provides a way to invoke any java method. It comes with a draw back, the method calls are little slow. This delay's are loading of web-page.
    Requirment:
    1. Creating custom images on various locations of the screen
    2. The Exact look and feel of the application map should be achieved
    3. Place elements and links correctly as in application-client reflect any changes
    4. Generation events on the Links and Elements
    5. Setting Backgroud images for different maps
    Questions:
    1. is it possible in JavaServer Faces (BETA)?
    2. If it is possible is JavaServer Faces(BETA) How to create custom images and create interfaces among them?
3.Can anyone recommend any java Technology for doing this?
Anybody having idea, help and guide me for doing my project

    hi,
I think you can use JSF

    There isn't one.
Adobe were unable to demonstrate a bug-free, secure and non-battery draining version of Flash to Apple.
So Apple declined to allow Adobe to release a sub-standard experience for their customers.
Adobe have now realised that Flash for mobile devices is not a good idea and have ceased all development of Flash for all mobile devices, not just iOS ones.

  • Can anybody actually RECOMMEND a bluetooth headset for the iPhone?

I see a lot of bad experiences, & not too many good ones.
Can anybody actually RECOMMEND a bluetooth headset for the iPhone? I just need one that works, with very little features (ie: redial button on headset).

I've actually posted another thread, and I don't mean to take over the original members post, but I'm hoping this will help others who may be having the same problems. Thanks to all of you who have posted your results with the various headsets!
I am now on my third iPhone 3G in under six months. The first one would drop calls when the corded Apple headset was plugged in during the call, and the second would cause the caller on the other end to hear an echo when I used the Apple headset. Plus, it did not respond well at all to Bluetooth headsets. Tons of static, call echoes, and noise cancellation not working.
My experience with the Jawbone 2 has been disappointing. I have heard way too many testimonials of satisfied iPhone users who love the JB2, so I'm beginning to think it's just me. I went through FOUR Jawbone 2 devices in under a month, all because of poor sound quality, and the Noise Assassin not working properly.
The white rubber tip sat very well against my cheek, and the default medium earpiece fit perfectly in my ear and was very comfortable to wear. Everything seemed to be in order, but the same problems would arise over and over again. I would get poor sound quality on both ends of the call, and people could hear the tv or the radio playing in the background on my end.
Maybe the structure of my head isn't suited for the JB2, but I have a very normally proportioned head. I refuse to believe it's the device——It has been rated highly by too many people to be the issue. I've all but given up on it, regrettably.
The Plantronics Discovery 665 I tested had issues with static. I would hear it on my end, even thought the phone was no more than two feet away.
I'll give the Plantronics 925 a try, as well as the Blue Ant V1. We'll see...

  • Recommended 802.11n cards for PCs w/ AirPort?

For PCs, are there any recommended wireless N cards for the AirPort? I know most of the generic vendors (Linksys, etc.) recommend you use their brand of NICs as well.
As Apple doesn't have PC NICs, what brands are recommended for maximum performance?

Any wireless card should work, providing that it is "n" capable. Of course the vendors want you to buy their stuff.
The letters (b,g,n) all indicate versions of the same wireless protocol.

  • Does apple recommend a screen protector for the iPad 4?

Does Apple recommend a screen protector for the iPad with a retina screen?

Apple's recommendations are usually hardware and software related. How to charge the battery, the benefits of backing up, transferring purchases, and things like that.
I have never seen Apple officially recommend any third party accessory and I doubt that they ever will do so. Using a screen protector is up to the individual. I have always used a screen protector of some type on all of my iDevices. I have somewhat oily skin and I would rather trash and have to clean a screen protector than have to keep up with cleaning the glass.
I have an iPad 3 and I have it encased in an OtterBox Defender case with a built in screen protector. My iPad 3 is in pristine condition - screen and back. My OtterBox Defender has taken quite a beating however, and I prefer that the case take the abuse and not the iPad!

What are the recommended system & hardware requirements for clients P6 Professional and Client Web for P6 8.2 ???
I need to know the recommended systems & hardware requirements for clients P6 Professional and Client Web for P6 8.2
I mean what kind of processor, memory ram minimum and maximus to run or to deploy P6 Professional Client from P6 8.2 version and the requeriments to run the P6 8.2 Web application.
I need like a chart (not necesary) with the most common configuration with hardware and software like the example below

    P6 Professional 8,2     Windows Xp Sp3     4 Gb     2 Gb +     Core2Duo 1,8 +
         Oracle Linux     4 Gb     3 Gb     Core2Duo 1,6 +
    P6 Web 8,2     Windows Xp Sp3     4 Gb     2 Gb +     Core2Duo 1,8 +
         Oracle Linux     4 Gb     3 Gb     Core2Duo 1,6 +
Because all information I saw it´s about Server (Database, Server Application and others) and not very clever about P6 8.2 Client and P6 8.2 Web.

I haven't seen PC requirements for a Win workstation per se either. Here are the only 8.2 client requirements I can find.
    Supported Configurations for Client Modules
    For Clients Accessing P6
     Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 8, IE 9, Firefox 8+, Safari 5.1.x+, Chrome 15+
