Recommended patches for 10G OLAP?

Hi,
Can anyone giude or suggest which patches one should install to view and use the latest OLAP suite features properly.
Currently I have installed the following :
1. 10G database 10.1.03
2. Patchset 4 for 10.1.03 (4074232)
I also plan to install 10G app server, then install the latest 9.2.1 Web Agent Patch (4194619) , to get web agent up and running.
Do I need to install any other patches? I tried installing 10.1.03B patch, but got a message saying it conflicts with patch 4074232.
At this stage I am looking to import Express 6.3.4 Databases, to upgrade an existing Web Agent App, (which I had successfully done at one stage using 9iR2, and also to investigate the use of compressed composites, on some of the existing cubes.
Thanks,

Since this is windows, you can only have the OLAP C patch
or the RDBMS patch installed. One will overwrite the
other since the OLAP patch is not part of the RDBMS
patch 4. If you want to use OLAP, I recommend installing
the C patch.

  • Smpatch and Recommended Patches for Solaris 10

    Hi,
Is there any way to make smpatch only retrieve recommended patches for Solaris 10 ?
I've seen several forum posts saying to use
    smpatch set patchpro.patchset=recommended
but other posters indicate that this only works for Solaris 9 (additionally, it doesn't seem to work at all currently:
Failure: Cannot connect to retrieve recommended.zip: Not Found )
As far as I'm aware, Sun's patching policy is to apply the Recommended patches, as well as any that address specific issues you are having. This seems to contrast with the behaviour of smpatch which grabs all patches..

    Hi.
Depending on your hardware, you can use the following in place of 'current' in patchpro.patchset to get recommended patches:
    sunu45 = Sun Ultra45/Ultra25 Recommended
sftxk = Sun Fire T1000/T2000 Recommended
    sfv2x5 = Sun Fire V215/245 Recommended
    sfv445 = Sun Fire V445 Recommended

    Hello,
Latest recommended patches are available through Oracle Support. If you have a valid account/support contract, you can login to http://support.oracle.com goto the "Patches" tab, and perform the following search:
    Product: Solaris Operating System

  • Apply patch for 10g

    Hi, Good morning:
I am trying to apply patch for my newly installed Oracle10.2.0.1, I downloaded the Opatch utility and extracted it directly into oracle_home, and then I downloaded the latest patch 5500927 and extracted into oracle_home/opatch....
Now, if I do ' opatch inventory ' under oracle_home/optach, it will give
    D:\Oracle10g\OPatch>opatch lsinventory
The system cannot find the file specified.
Java could not be located. OPatch cannot proceed!
OPatch failed with error code = 1
If I do 'opatch lsinventory ' under oracle_home/opatch/5500927 it will give :
    D:\Oracle10g\OPatch>cd 5500927
    D:\Oracle10g\OPatch\5500927>opatch lsinventory
'opatch' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.
I know I have JVM in my machine, and the JDK is version 1.4...
Can anyone help me ? what did I do wrong?
    Thanks a lot.
    Wendy

what a sec..the home does not look right, did you change it on installation?
    set oracle_home=d:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1
    set oracle_sid=your_sid
    opatch lsinventory
if that doesn't work, look at your PATH, see what is going on there
you might want to put the "opatch" sub-dir into your path..or create a couple of CMD files to set it all the time.

  • Web Agent in 10g OLAP??

    Hi all,
I was wondering whether the Web Agent component for 10g OLAP is available. From what I can see on the Oracle sites, there is only an install for 9.2.0.4.
Can some one please confirm, as I am interested in upgrading to the New version, to take a look at the newer features available with the AW, however I require Web Agent.
    Regards,
    Imran

    Hi Imran,
If you want to run Oracle OLAP Web Agent with the Oracle 10g database, you should install OLAP Web Agent 9.2.1 base version - patch 3467263 on Metalink, and then install Web Agent 9.2.1 patch 1 - patch 3941853 on Metalink. Patch 1 is required for 10g compatability.
I will try and ensure that it gets correctly listed for the 10g database.
We will soon release 9.2.1 Patch 2 with updated Java certificates.

  • Database Patch for BIBeans

    Hello,
which is the best PatchSet that must be applied to the database for BIBeans?
In this moment i'm using 9.2.0.5,is better than 9.2.0.4?
and when will be available the patch for 10g,will be better to migrate to this release?
(when I istalled the 9.2.0.5 patch I just installed it and executed the catpatch.sql script,is correct?)
    Thanxs
    Antonio

In general it is correct that it is the best to have the latest patchset installed.
However, there has been cases where a major patchset required an additional patch in order to work completely with BI Beans. This was the case with 9.2.0.4, which required the 9.2.0.4.1 OLAP specific patch.
For this reason it may be good to check first before installing the latest patch.

  • Oracle 10g OLAP to 11g OLAP upgrade ?

We currently are planning on a upgrade from 10g OLAP => 11g OLAP. We currently have 12 AWM's in 10g OLAP which we need to move over with associated DML programs and additional SQL reporting views.
    Questions:
    1. Is there any documentation available on necessary steps for 10g OLAP => 11g OLAP upgrade?
    2. What would happen to existing AWM's prepared in 10g, would they be migrated to 11g transparently or have to be re-created?
    3. Is there any specific documentation related to changes in way cube builds are done programatically?
    4. Any changes in the way limit maps work in 11g?
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Sudip

Migrating a 10g cube to 11g depends on whether you are talking about 11gR1 or 11gR2. 10g cubes continue to operate in the "10g way" even after a database upgrade. They will not become "11g cubes" until they are rebuilt after the database upgrade. In 11gR2, there is a supported way to migrate 10g cubes to 11g cubes, both with AWM and with PL/SQL. Sorry to say... this functionality doesn't exist in 11gR1: you'll have to rebuild your cubes from the ground up.
The SQL relational views built using the AWM plugin in 10g are no longer applicable in 11g. That's because OLAP cubes in 11g are registered in the oracle data dictionary (just like other Oracle objects), and the SQL relational views are managed in the database and a recognized part of the product. The SQL relational views are quite different in 11g, so you will likely have to rewrite queries against them.
LIMIT map syntax is the same, but performance is much better.

  • SunOS 5.11,  there are whether Recommended patches?

I downloaded and install solaris 10, relise 6/06, sparc.
    uname show me "SunOS 5.11".
I tryed install 10_Recommended, but system says that incompatible release.
There are where Recommended patches for this kernel?

SunOS 5.11 is the kernel version for Solaris Express (aka Solaris.next) not Solaris 10. Can you please check again on what you downloaded and installed? Since this version is still under development, there are no patches for it. Instead, the content is refreshed regularly.

  • Getting recommended patches via proxy?

We have a service contract and a host registred at update connection.
Previously we could use this host as a proxy to get any patch
but now we only seem to be able to get security patches via the
    proxy.
Is this a new limitation of Update Connection or is it a bug?
Dp we need to revert to downloading tha patches manually
    for tehse systems?
(This is for hosts s running Solartis 10.)

When using a Sun UC proxy the only system you need to
register with a subscription key is the proxy itself.
All other clients using the proxy do not need to be
registered with a subscription key but will still be
entitled to all updates through the Sun UC proxy. As I wrote, this was they way it worked before here. Beginning in June, this
is no longer the case. The proxy (using itself as prox) is entitled to download.
We have to omit recommended patches for our wishlist when downloading.

  • Recommended Patches

    Hello,
I have got a RAC with 11gR1 on linux 64bit with ASM. I applied a patchset 11.1.0.7 for CRS, ASM, and Database. I read about other small recommended and security patches via Metalink and Oracle Recommened Patches (Doc ID: 756671.1).
So I decided to apply following patches: 7829321, 5897089, 7272646 using OPatch utility to only Database Home (DB_1). I mean to apply other patches according to Oracle Recommended Patched doc, so my question is, should I apply patches to ASM instance, too ?
    Thank you for answer,
    Best Regards,
    Jimmy

    Hello,
I have got additional information about recommended patches for Oracle Database:
    1. 8287931 - is for CRS_HOME and RDBMS_HOME.
    2. 8461420 - is for CRS_HOME and ASM_HOME.
    3. 8658581 - only for RDBMS_HOME, patch does not include any fixes for ASM_HOME.
    4. After patching ours environment we should apply a CPU patch 8534338 for RDBMS_HOME and ASM_HOME.
I hope, this information will be helpful for someone.
    Best regards,

  • Access Oracle 10g OLAP Analytic Worspace from BOE XI for Universes creating

    Hi skilled!
Is there any environment to access  Oracle 10g OLAP Analytic Worspace
from BOE XI (not from BOE XIR2) for Universes creating ?
    Thank you.

    Hello Walter,
    Thanks for the response.
I'm using the following SAP GUI: 710 Final Release, Version 7100.2.7.1038, Build 971593, Patch-Level 7.
Trying to install the Desktop part of the integration kit results in the follwoing message: Unable to perform Desktop installation. The installation is unable to proceed with a desktop installation because Crystal Reports 2008 was not detected. To perform a Desktop installation, it must be installed.
Without having installed any integration kit on the client side, I can still see the data access driver for SAP Business Warehouse 3.x in the Universe Designer (when trying to define a new connection). After providing the respective parameters, however, a connection is not established successfully. When testing the connection it just tells me that the connection trial failed (SBO0001), without providing any further details.
What do you think, is the problem? The SAP GUI? Is it at all required for my purposes (generating OLAP universes in Designer from SAP BI) to install the integration kit on the client side? As far as I have read, it is?
    Thanks, Konrad

  • 10.1.0.5 Patch for Oracle Application Server 10g Release 1

    Hi Guys,
Does anyone know what is the patch number for 10.1.0.5 Patch for Oracle Application Server 10g Release 1?
This is a Oracle Application Server and not Oracle Database server.
I tried searching on Metalink but not able to find it.
    Thanks in advance!
    Avinash.

10.1.0.5 is not a version number for an OAS. It is only a version number for RDBMS.
If you are running OAS 10.1.2.x with the Identity Managmenet/SSO (OID Server), & elected to have it install the Metadata Repository database for you, this was a RDBMS release below 10.1.0.5. The OAS patch to 10.1.2.2 or 10.1.2.3 required the RDMBS be updated to 10.1.0.5 first. This is the standard 10.1.0.5 update for your platform.
    use Advanced Search on Metalink
To find the OAS 10.1.2.2 or 10.1.2.3 patch set, search for Oracle Fusion Middleware Server. Release 10.1.2.2 and 10.1.2.3. Look for the decriptions like "PLACEHOLDER BUG FOR AS/DS 10.1.2.3 PATCHSET RELEASE" OR "PLACEHOLDER BUG FOR AS/DS 10G R2 PATCH SET 2 10.1.2.2"
To find the RDBMS 10.1.0.5 patch, search for RDBMS Server, Release 10.1.0.5. Look for the Description containing something like "10.1.0.5 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER"
The patch number is different per platform, so I can't tell you the exact #s without more info (OS)

  • Solaris 10 SPARC Recommended Patch Cluster for  2008 quarter 3 version

    Dear All,
Could any one please guide me, where I can download "Solaris 10 SPARC Recommended Patch Cluster" for 2008 quarter 3 version.
I have checked in sunsolve.sun.com, I'm able to find only the latest release.
    please guide me.
    Thanks and regards,
    veera

    Ok,
Here's a cute little formula to try using your systems parameters to gain some "head's-up" on an expected or estimated time to complete the patch run.
You will need a few things to prepare.
Number of "real" CPU's (not hyperthreads)
    Speed of each CPU as a whole number i.e 2.87Ghz = 2,867
the total number of patches from the cluster i.e. Sept 15th = 381 (Solaris 10)
Network factor if using NFS = 2.5
local cluster file factor = 1.5
Patch cluster on CDROM factor = 3.25
Now, combine all of those elements in this equation:
    { ( #1 * #2 ) / #3 * factor(#4 or #5 or #6) }
This will yield a number in minutes of patch run time. Then all you will need to add is the standard boot up time to get the total of all patching and reboot.
Of course you could write a script to extract all of this information and feed it to "bc -l" to get a quick figure.
Example, on one of my Solaris 10 boxes with the information filled in to the equation:
    #> echo "((4*2660)/381)*1.5"|bc -l
    #> 41.88976377952755905511
It actually took 44.2 minutes to complete the patching of this box plus another 12 minutes to reboot. But all in all a pretty fair estimate I think.
