Recommended settings for encoding a 20 min flv file?

can anyone recommend which settings i should use for the
attributes below for a 20 minute video for the web (just individual
people talking, no complex animation or graphics) that has a width
of 379 pixels and a height of 284 pixels?
i am looking for the best quality possible for a streaming
web video that will not take long to load over standard home dsl
lines.
- for video codec should i use sorenson spark or on2 vp6?
- what should the max data rate be for kilobits per second?
any advice or pointers would be appreciated!

I have tried sorenson spark, it did it's job. As far as I
remember there were 3 quality settings, the low and medium seem to
be most appropriate. Testing will give you the best option for your
individual case.

Doesn't sound like it.  It sounds like you're being logged-off.
Does your Mac go through the complete Restart cycle -- black screen, gray and/or blue screen momentarily, startup chime, etc?
If you're not sure, do a Restart just to watch the process; the next time the problem occurs, see if it's the same.
You need to know which it is, as these will have very different causes, and different places to look for a solution.

  • What are Novells recommended settings for policies

    Hello,
Who can tell me please what are Novells recommended settings for policies? Should we make a few big Policy where everything is handled (for example a policy for standalone workstations, one for desktop PCs, one for notebooks etc..) or single policies (for example "Desktop Wallpaper", "Enable Active Desktop", or "Turn off Aero Shake window minimizing mouse gesture" and so on) and put them in a PolicyGroup. What is the best way?

The fewer the policies the better.
Generally Folks do something such as a WS assigned policy as a baseline
and then a user one to over-ride.
Trying to create one policy per setting would likely cause windows great
confusion as well as being very slow.

  • Correct PPro CS3 Project Settings for Neoscene/Cineform 1080 60i .avi files?

I am looking for clarification on the correct Premiere CS3 project settings for AVCHD 1080 60i NTSC files converted with Neo Scene with the "maintain source frame format" option.
Should the PPro project settings for "Field" be upper or lower field first?
On a Cineform discussion board I was told all interlaced HD footage is upper field first.
However, I have found that a PPro project setting of upper field first results in much more sluggish playback than lower field first.
So seems there is additional processing needed with the upper field first project setting and this suggests to me that lower field first is the proper setting.
Any thoughts from NeoScene/Cineform users out there?
    Thanks!
The project settings I have been using are:
    Editing Mode: Desktop
    Timebase: 29.97
    Frame size: 1920 x 1080
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels (1.0)
    Fields: Lower Field First
    Audio: 48000

...is not so good - bad colours. In Microsoft DV Avi-DV Pal compression. D1/DV PAL Wide is pixelate. I have click the de-interlace so it is not because of that. I have no problem to use encore it the file i send is compressed in those settings i mention before. I have no problems in compressing the file with those settings at all, like i have when i want to transfor the video in avi uncompressed.
Oaaa...i am going crazy here. I have had so many problems with this and if i end up working this documentary and not beeing able to export it i go mad!...this if i do not go there before because of this problems...

  • What are the correct Premiere Pro CS4 settings for producing WMV/MP4 to FLV/F4V videos?

    Greetings.
I have recently purchased CS4 Production Suite.  My task is to convert WMV/MP4 videos to FLV/F4V videos that contain titles, transitions, and credits for streaming from Flash Media Server.
My test videos are experiencing audio sync issues when using Adobe Media Encoder as the export tool.  When I use Flash Video Export tool using the source WMV/MP4, I do not experience sync issues.
I can control the WMV/MP4 output settings since we record our own sessions using Windows Media Encoder.  I can also utilize Flash Media Live Encoder to capture the source.
The video source comes from a video capture card (Osprey) that is connected to an IP based camera(s) which are controlled by video technicians.
We record from that capture card into WMV format.
My question is, what are the settings in Premiere to produce FLV/F4V for streaming in 480p quality?
I am new to video production and gladly appreciate any assistance.
    Regards,
    Shack

    Jim,
Thank you for your response.  I am a total noob at video, but have the requirement to produce recorded video to our FMS servers.
Here is my situation.  We have classrooms and auditoriums hard wired with IP cameras.  Our video techs can record to DVR and then finalize to DVD (VOB).  We also have a control center that can capture those cameras using Windows Media Encoder to record.
I have been given CS4 to produce these videos.  Each time that I transcode, the audio gets out of sync.  I am trying to figure out a suitable way to take VOB and WMV files into PP and output to FLV/MP4.
    Appreciate any advice...

  • Creating a PDF from Word 2003: recommended settings for screenshot pictures without artifacts?

My Word 2003 document shows screenshots from text dialogs (some 100% and some in reduced size).
While the quality of the pictures is good in the MS Word viewer, my created PDFs show artifacts mainly at the black texts:
the single characters are eroded or dilated!
The viewing quality does not increase if I zoom in (e. g. to 200%).
I tried settings without picture compression, but there are still artifacts.
    a) I add the screenshots via copy&paste using a snipping tool (= "snagit").
Can I improve the import of pictures to Word?
    b) How can I select PDF creator settings which do not apply any compression (= original bitmap)?
Or is it the priciple of PDF to compress the pictures anyway?
    Hope for some helpful hints!

I generally just print to the Adobe PDF printer, but then I am generally not using links and such (actually I don't tend to use MS products and thus don't even have PDF Maker in my applications. However, the bookmarks and links are the most useful to a lot of folks. The tags provide the accessibility aspects and the formating information. The latter is useful if you want to try to come backwards at some point (or allow others to do that). However, it is almost always better to keep the original so you never have to come backwards. I can see the accessability aspects to be useful, particularly for universities and government organizations. For businesses, it may vary with the type of business (unless the government puts more regulations in place!).
Typically, the tags are the factor that causes the most bloat in the resultant PDF. If you use lots of different fonts and embed them (always recommended), then that creates another form of bloat. Graphics that maintain more resolution that is needed can cause a lot of problems. I used to have one student who would embed 2400 dpi graphics in word files. I had to turn off graphics viewing in word because it would crash my system (the memory leaks in MS products are some of the worst). Simply reducing the resolution to 300 dpi (or 600 dpi) helps a lot. Keep in mind that the resolution of the eye is on the order of 100 dpi. You have to start using a magnifying glass or zooming to see the higher resolution (useful in some cases, but not usually). The intermediate step in creating a PDF is to print to a PS (you do not see this step normally), the step that often causes the problem with memory (you are limited to the size of free memory allocated to the TEMP folder -- not the free memory on your hard drive). Hope that explains some of the limitations.

  • Optimal settings for encoding HDV 1080i footage to SD dvd

I have footage recorded from an HDV camcorder and edited in FCP 1080i 60. It is fast moving sports footage shot with a high shutter speed the total running time is 40 min. I have encoded it to DVD by taking the HDV 16:9 FCP sequence dropping it to a 4by3 DV sequence to get the window box 4by3 aspect ratio and exporting this sequence as an mov. This mov was then encoded with compressor dvd 90 min best settings
I was not able to find a quick way to do the aspect ratio change in Compressor 3. Please let me know optimal settings.
The big problem however is how compressor has dealt with the high speed moving footage. Played from the DVD on a sd tv the motion is terrible. It looks like the interlacing is all off and the image doubled up. The slow mo footage used in the piece is fine.
What are the optimal settings to smooth out the motion?

  • [E71 on Linux] Best settings for encoding video?

    Hello all,
I have an E71 and I would like to encode videos on my Linux box for it.
I have a script for that, using MPlayer's MEncode. I'd like to know what are the best settings, i.e.: Resolution, Video Bit rate, Audio Bit rate and Codec / file format.
Also, what is the best video player out there for the Symbian 9.1 3rd., preferably a freeware app...
I have DivX Mobile installed and the built-in Real Player (very poor quality playback - maybe because incorrect encoding?)
    Thanks!

  • Recommended settings for TP-Link ADSL Router

    Hi Everyone,
After spending 6 months trying to troubleshoot the disconnections with my HH3, i've bitten the bullet and bought aTP-Link TD-W8951ND ADSL2+ router.
I've got the router up and working without any issues, but there are loads of settings that I'm unfamiliar with.  Rather than just poke and hope, I'll take any advice on how i conifgure this router to get the most out of my ADSL connection, and get most fro my Wifi coverage.
    Thanks in advance!

Ok, the situation has now become a nightmare.  Spent all last night suffering from Xbox live disconnects, and time outs.  Lots of Xbox codes, that all appear to relate to the response for their servers being too slow.  Tried forwarding all advised ports on the router but no improvement whatsoever.
Tried this on 2 xboxes in different parts of the house, both the same issues.  Also nticed that XBMC on media PC would not connect to content servers.  Internally, the streaming from my server to media PC seems better than ever.
Following morning tried xbox again, and it still times out.  Swapped the TP-Link router for my BT Homehub and getting the same issues, and it's still timing out.  Eliminated everything else from the set up, so that it goes router to xbox direct, nothing else plugged in.  This seems to have resolved the issues.  Tried again with a direct connection using the TP-Link but once again it times out.
It does all seem to point towards the TP-Link not working as expected.
    Anyone any ideas?

  • Settings to choose for encoding discrete 5.1 aiff files to AC3

    I've received discrete 5.1 Aiff files (L.aif, R.aif, C.aif, LFE.aif, Ls.aif, Rs.aif) that I want to encode AC3.
Now I know to choose Add Surround Sound in the batch window and assign each track it's respective position, but what isn't clear is the setting I choose to encode to AC3. I would assume that I choose AC3 5.1 under the audio presets, but the audio config looks odd to me, so instead of waiting for the encode to complete only to find out I was wrong, I thought I would ask beforehand.
    Thanks!

The correct setting to use is Apple > Formats > Audio > Dolby Digital Professional 5.1.
The Audio Coding Mode defaults to L, C, R, Ls, Rs, which is what you should have set
in the Add Surround Sound interface.
Since you have a discrete LFE channel, you'll also need to check "Enable Low Frequency Effects".
If you don't have a surround audio system connected to your computer,
Compressor's Preview will downmix to stereo.
If you have any doubts about your workflow, make six short test files, with a recording
of your voice saying "Left Front", "Center", etc.

  • Best settings for exporting and dropping a MOV file into iDVD7?

I have a movie (originally shot in HD), made in iMovieHD6, and that I'd like to export and drop into iDVD7. *What settings would the brain trust recommend?* I cannot seem to get iDVD to render a good version through direct export from iMovie. (As a side, I wonder if it is because I started this process by bringing AVCHD files from my camera into iMovie8 and "going backwards" to iMovieHD6.)

I have used Pro-res from Final Cut Pro into iDVD and it works.
*This is from iDVD help menu:*
Video and image formats that work with iDVD
You can use these movie and graphic formats in iDVD:

Most video or image files supported by QuickTime (see the list of unsupported QuickTime formats below)

    16:9 widescreen formats

AAC, MP3, and AIFF audio files

Any format from iMovie: DV, high-definition video (HDV), MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-4 SD, MPEG-4 HD, and AVCHD
High definition video is converted to work with the format of your project. iDVD supports using 16:9 widescreen video; therefore, when your DVD plays on a DVD player that supports widescreen format, the footage appears in its original aspect ratio.
The following video and image formats are not supported in iDVD:

    Copyrighted or protected videos.

Movies saved in thousands of colors using the “none” compression setting in iMovie.

48-bit color images (16 bits per color). To use source files in one of these formats in iDVD, save them in a supported format.

Aurora uncompressed files. For best results, export Aurora clips as DV-format video before importing them into iDVD.

QuickTime VR, MPEG-1 or MPEG-2, Flash, streaming or encrypted movies, or QuickTime spanned movies. You can’t add MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 files to an iDVD project because they don’t contain standard video tracks.

QuickTime Fast Start movies. (Fast Start movies are intended for Internet playback.) When saving a QuickTime movie for use with iDVD, click the Options button in the QuickTime Export dialog and make sure that the “Prepare for Internet Streaming” checkbox is not selected.

    Hello,
Please note that your GL short text is not expected to have a "," (COMMA) or unallowable symbol.
If that is there in any on of the GL Account description, from that row, the whole report will come into a single cell.
Therefore, please check the report, is there any unallowable symbols in the description and correct your master records of GL.
    It will solve your issue.

  • Best Acrobat distiller settings for creating a Web-Friendly pdf file-

    Hi
Got a big project coming up where my crew will be trying to export our indesign layouts for print pieces to pdf files for uploading, viewing and printing from our company internet site. Our documents will be a mix of text and jpg and vector images, as they originally designed for printing. We'll be reformatting them to print on letter size, etc., then saving them for our web dev area.
Is the standard job option set, "Smallest File Size", the best way to go?
Or are there specific settings that I can customize in Acrobats (resolution, downsample to, monchormatic, etc) in the blanks and create a set of job options to distribute?

    Hello,
We're pleased that you are using Acrobat software. The Smallest File Size preset is great for web and email. However, image resolution is low, which would affect printing quality. The Rich Content PDF preset might be a better choice. Did you look on this Help page for information?

  • Is there a way to change settings for "date modified" to reflect true file changes instead of changing upon viewing files? This is not just a Word issue.

My team and I open and view files all the time without editing them but the date modified changes anyway. This gets especially troublesome when we are working on files on each others desktops remotely. Is there any way to change these settings to reflect only changes instead of views, moves, and the like? I've read similar posts that have all reference Microsoft products but that is not the case. Our systems here operate in this way regardless of application/file type.
