OS : AIX/Solaris
What is the recommeded way to kill a currently running expdp or impdp job (dba_datapump_jobs.state = 'EXECUTING') ?
When I searched in google and OTN , i see different opinions and options.

hi all,
i tried to export data using expdp. i read somewhere that using expdp creates a background process so that even if i turn off my client machine, it won't stop the export.
problem is i need to stop the expdp process. how do i kill it?
when i query the database using
select *
from DBA_DATAPUMP_JOBS;
the jobs are still there with a value of NOT RUNNING in the STATE column. i think the jobs are already done in this case but how do i remove them from the list? also how do i kill a currently running datapump job?
any suggestions?

thanks for the link. although, i was not able to find a way on how to delete the records showing in my dba_datapump_jobs view.
unfortunately i'm not in the expdp> prompt anymore since i turned my machine off. is there a way to get back there?

McAfee keeps sending me messages to buy, I know there is a way to kill but no longer have the instructions

What is the best way to kill/stop a data load?
I have a data load from my QA R/3 system that is extracting 115.000.000+ records. The problem is that the selection in the function module used in the data source does not work, and the problem was not detected because of the nature of the data on the development system.
I could kill processes owned by my background user (on both R/3 and BW) but I risk killing other loads, and sometimes the job seems to restart if I just try to kill processes. If I remove transactional RFCs in SM58 the load does not terminate; I only skip one or more datapackages. I have also tried to change the QM-status in the monitor to red, but that does not stop the load either...
So isn't there a nice fool-proof way of stopping a dataload?

There r 2 ways to kill the job.
One is using transation RSMO locate the job and display the status tab double click on the yellow light that is shown on the line total, a pop will come 'set overall status ' is displayed select the desired status that is red and save it. Then return to the monitor page and select the header tab double ckick on the data target right click and then goto 'manage',there should be request sitting there probably with yellow lights , highlight the line with the faulty request click the delete button then click refresh button.
Second is goto SM37 and click on the active selection and enter the jobname and then click excute the particulr job should appear highlight the jobname then click on the stop iconthat appears on the taskbar( 3 rd from left)

method completed..No. It is best to avoid the first (<%! %>) form, as all users who do to that JSP will share the data and it can lead to wierd behavior. Limit the scope using the scriptlet (<% %>) whenever possible.

Sure way to kill Wireless Connection

Hello,
while debugging my problems with loosing my wireless connection I found out a sure way to kill it: Just start a program like ethereal for the ethernet in promiscuous mode. Kills my wireless connection for sure and only a reboot helps.
Has anyone seen this problem as well?

Applet Hanging, a proper way to kill it?

Hi Folks,
Sometime when working with applet in internet explorer 7, an applet will just stop to work properly and hang, in my case it is caused by a NullPointerException. But I can't even close internet explorer anymore. The only way is to Ctr Alt Del and kill internet explorer.
Is there a way to kill just an applet which has been loaded in a web page, without having to reload the page and nuke the entire world...
something like
- list all java process with IDs
- kill java process with IDs ####

I'm not sure if I'm getting this wrong. But it seems like at 10.6, Apple still didn't release control to the users. When a fullscreen application freezes (nothing else, just the application), there is still no ways to kill the application. +Q doesn't work, OptEsc doesn't work, +Tab doesn't work.
In linux I can switch to another tty and in Windows, Alt-Tab typically still works in applications, as do Ctrl-Alt-Delete. Under the hood, mac does have one of the best OS around but why doesn't Apple allow users control their own OS yet?
Having to force shutdown a computer just because one application crashed (I can still control brightness etc) is ridiculous. Telling me to ssh into my own computer while I should still have control of it is even more ridiculous

You're getting it wrong. See below.

If the force quit keys don't work, then you need to be blaming the maker of the fullscreen application, not Apple. If the app doesn't let you use the standard command-Q keystroke, again, blame the maker of the app. If it doesn't let you switch to other apps through standard methods like command-tab... yeah, you know what I'm going to say.
Apple provides a very good set of tools. If an app uses skanky methods to disable things that shouldn't be disabled or doesn't provide support for standard keystrokes (like command-Q), that is not Apple's doing.
Fact is, I've never had trouble with command-option-escape to force quit a fullscreen app. That always works fine for me. It's not uncommon for fullscreen apps to prevent switching via command-tab, and it's also not uncommon for some fullscreen games to not support command-Q.

I would like to know who else is have problems with their zen micro mp3 player not working in these following ways:

How can I change default OEM DataPump job?

I have successfully created a DataPump job to run out of OEM GC by choosing the target database I wish to export, then under the Data Movement tab selecting the Export to Export Files option. I then create the DataPump job and it runs successfully.
Now I would like to add the parameter REUSE_DUMPFILES=Y to the job but am not able to find an option in OEM allowing me to add this parameter. Is this possible and if so can someone explain to me how to do it.

I don't see a way to do that. For sure, not in the UI while creating the "Export to Export Files". The only place you may be able to do this is add it to the command line for the job, as follows:
expdp scott/tiger directory=dir dumpfile=scott.dmp logfile=scott.log tables=emp REUSE_DUMPFILES=Y
Doesn the creation of the job save the job and the commands in the job library?
I would create a job in EM that does an OS command vs creating a job on the DB job queue and that way, you can ose the above.

I would like to ask on how to kill a background job in SAP? I have tried to cancel it via sm50, sm37, dpmon, and even the kill -9 command but none of those commands can solve the issue still the job is running.
Can you guide me on how to deal to such issue and if you know a command on how to kill that particular job.

I think you may not have proper authorization to kill the job.
You can kill the job through SM50 as follows.
SM50 -> Choose the background job -> click Process -> and then click Cancel without core.
If the job is still not getting killed you can ask your basis person to kill it.

Datapump Job

Hi,
I moved the datapump export file to different directory when still export job is running.I thought that it will throw an error but the expdp job is still running .
I am wonder how the expdp is running inspite of moved the file to different directory .
Is it feature of the datapump job ? Could you please explain me ?

Oracle dba datapump job low space

my server has 10gb free space ,but datapump job requires 100gb how can i export with export

With plain old unix compression I'm getting about 80% compression on my exports.
Another idea is to use the FILESIZE parameter to limit files to something less than available space, then move the file while expdp stalls with the out of space error. I've never tried that, so I don't know if it works. It's usually easier for me to move other stuff around to make space first, or use original exp into a pipe.

they r talking that we can start the datapump job from client(Sqlplus) but the dmp files will be saved and the process will run on the server side

The correct understanding should be that it's configured only for server side which means, that the folder where the dump files would be created would be available on a folder which must be there on the server side and over which, proper permissions must be available to you in the form of Directory object. The dump files location would indeed be on the server side only.
