Recommeneded Auto Update Feature in 11.1 Grid Control

Hi All,
I would like inform you about New Auto Update feature in the 11.1 Grid Control Installer. This feature allows the latest recommended patches to be automatically deployed while installing a fresh 11.1 Grid control or while upgrading an existing Grid control to 11.1 version.
These auto updates ensure that any patches required by the oracle installer or for successful installation/upgrade of the product are applied before the actual installation or upgrade process. It ensures that there are no failed installations or upgrades from known issues.
Oracle highly recommends using this feature to ensure that any new or upgraded Enterprise Manager installation is successful
To know more about usage and benefits of this feature Refer to :
1. Note.1101208.1 Required Patches for Grid Control 11g (11.1.0.1.0) on Linux
2. Note.1099123.1 Overview of the "Auto Update" Feature Available with Grid Control 11g Install/Upgrade
3. Refer to this PDF
4. Use Install forum to place your queries
Note:- If you have downloaded and installed your Grid control before15th May 2010 then we recommend you to apply this Generic Agent patch 9676134 on all your target boxes. Refer to the Read-me of the patch for exact instructions. If you don't have this patch applied then you will see this patch appear in MOS recommended section for that target as well.
This patch fixes the performance issue that is caused by Grid control 11.1 running a metric query against the v$rman_backup_job_details view on target database instances for Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1) or higher. In some situations, this query might expose RDBMS bug 8434467, in which the query can run for an extended period of time, resulting in high CPU utilization. If you notice this problem, it is recommended that you apply the patches listed below, which will reduce the the frequency of the query.

  • We are trying to package our iTunes Windows and we can't stop the auto update feature.  How can we do this?

We have consultants here packaging many of our Apps for deployment with Windows 7.  We cannot find a way to turn off the auto update feature within iTunes for Windows.  Has someone been successful in packaging iTunes for Windows and NOT do the auto update piece?

The Apple advice revolves around the editing the registry:

  • Air 2.0 Auto update Feature Experts help me on this issue  please.......

    Hi ,
Is it possible to Auto update  a air application using air 2.0 beta . If so can any one post me the  related link.
I recently updated my flex builder 3  to 3.2 and along with Air 2.0. One of my old project which has a auto  update feature seems to be not working
    I get this error message
"  VerifyError: Error #1053: Illegal override of callInContext in  _ApplicationUpdaterDialogs_mx_managers_SystemManager." What should i do  to over come this problem please help me .
    Regards,
    Rahul.

    Hi Rahul,
I understand that you're using Flex 3.x SDK with AIR 2 beta 2 SDK overlay.
Make sure you're using (linking in your project) the Flex3 compatible UI lib from AIR 2 beta 2 SDK: that's the one under "frameworks\libs\air\flex3\applicationupdater_ui3.swc".
The default UI lib available with AIR 2 beta2 SDK under  "frameworks\libs\air\applicationupdater_ui.swc" is compatible with Flex4.
    Hope this helps,

  • Can I turn off iTunes Match auto update feature

I often tether my iPhone 5 to my MBP and while I have a large data allowance, I'd like to only tap into it when I choose to.
I've noticed that several times throughout the day, iTunes Match tries to scan my library and send info back to Apple.
Funny thing is, it does this even when there's nothing new in the library. I understand why it updates so frequently and when I'm on Wi-Fi I don't mind it at all.
Is there anyway to switch this to a manual operation rather than automatic?
A bonus question: I know it's sending data back to Apple's servers when it does this, but is it any amount worth fretting over?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,
As far as I'm aware there is no auto update feature in iTunes Match on your computer. It would seem that you have a bug - the only time that iTunes should update is when you add new tracks, even then it is not immediate unless you select add to iCloud.
Occasionally, iTunes Match goes through the process of scanning my library again but this only happens after launching.

fast user switching becomes available and i dont want to have fast user switching enabled... i only want the novell login box to appear!
i tried to disable fast user switching with gpo: gpedit.msc -> computer configuration -> administrative templates -> system -> logon -> hide entry points for fast user switching! no success!
i also checked the novell client proberties under advanced login and everything is set up as usual... attached you can find my ncpf.txt file!

So are you saying that user are logged in even after a reboot (as in the picture you posted)?
I "hide entry points for fast user switching" and that setting works for us with NC2SP3IR6 adn WIN7SP1PRO, what version of Windows are you using?

  • Pages with auto update features such as live scoreboards won't autoupdate when displayed in Firefox.

Pages with autoupdate features (e.g. live scoreboards) won't update when displayed in a Firefox tab. Firefox recently installed replacing IE as default browser, several add-ons installed (e.g. Flashblock, AdBlock Plus, CoolPreviews, Real Player Plugin, Shockwave Flash, US English Dictionary, Move Media Player, Adobe Acrobat Reader, WPF, Veetle TV, Silverlight) no other problems observed.

    http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/scoreboard

Hmm. Have you tried selectively disabling some of your extensions (e.g. Adblock Plus, Flashblock) to see if they were interfering with the autoupdate?
If you start up Firefox in [[Safe mode]], you should be able to start Firefox with all extensions disabled. If that works, then you could try some detective work with activating extensions to see which one is the culprit.

  • Client Auto-Update questions

We just updated our Dev system to SP5 with Patch 2, but the clients are not updating automatically.
I have checked that the Client and Admin boxes are checked for auto-update and can see nowhere else that this can be done.
I double-checked with the Master Install guide, and this appears to be the only thing that I need to do to make it work.
The clients are currently at 502, and they should now be 506.
Also, is this controlled by the files in C:\BPC\Websrvr\Web\Installation?
I have checked the live server (BPC 5.1 SP3) and the Dev server (BPC 5.1 SP5r2)
Both of them have EverestClient.exe and EverestAdmin.exe with version number 12.0.0.49974
Does that seem right?  I would have expected an increment in version number.
Has anyone else seen this, and can you offer any advice?
    Thanks

  • How can I set the insert date to auto update in Pages 5.2.2

how can I set the insert date to auto update in Pages 5.2.2
I am attempting to have the date in header auto update in a Pages file.
I can insert it, but where is the AUTO UPDATE selection
    OS10.9.4
    thank you

Apple never included the auto-update feature for dates in Pages v5.2.2. You would have to single-click the date, and deliberately update it.
If you have Pages ’09 v4.3 in /Applications/iWork '09, then it will allow you to configure auto-update of the date field. Right-click on the date, set the format, and click the selection for automatically update on open.

  • Disable JRE Auto update in Vista for all users?

I feel like a complete idiot that I can't figure this out, but it's either so obvious I'm overlooking it, or I just plain can't figure it out, so I'm hoping someone here can help.
We have not yet been able to figure out how to simply disabled the Auto Update option when installing JRE under Vista, so it will never check for updates, no matter what user is logged into a pc. I've just installed the newest version 1.6.0_05-b13, but get the same results.
Basically, we are creating a "base clone image" of a Vista workstation and we need the auto update feature of the JRE to be disabled so it doesn't check for updates. When a new user logs into the pc, we want them to 'inherit' this setting from the default user profile, or we simply want a 'global' setting on the pc that stops all JAVA update checks from occuring. But even though there are multiple registry keys that 'look' like they control the auto update function, no matter how we set them the update option still shows it is enabled when you open the JAVA control panel.
    We have 2 basic problems:
    - When a standard user runs the JAVA Control Panel applet and they select the 'Update' tab, the option to "uncheck" autoupdates is "grayed out". If we make the user a local administrator, then it is not grayed out anymore and they can set the option. Problem is, we have thousands of users and none of them are local administrators, hence the problem of getting it to already be defaulted to not check for updates. How do we get the update checkbox to NOT be grayed out for a NON-administrator?
    - How do we set the 'global' (or default) option to disable the auto update checkbox for ALL users? No matter what we try, when a new user logs in, the auto update feature is still enabled after their initial profile is generated from the first time login.
I was able to figure out if I change the "EnableJavaUpdate" value in the below registry key, it will "remove" the Update tab from the JAVA Control Panel. But does the simply remove the tab? Or does it remove the tab AND disable auto updates for ALL users on the computer?
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy
I've sent multiple emails to Sun asking for help on what should be a simple thing to do, but have never received a reply from them.
    Keith Hemmelman

Thank you for the reply. I apologize for not getting back here sooner.
We actually already use a deployment.properties file located under the Default User profile on our Vista setup. It's located under the "C:\Users\Default\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment" folder. This file does get copied over to a new user profile when a new person logs in. This is what we want since we have set things like the maximum cache size and temporary file location.
The problem though is there is no setting that disables the automatic update check within this file. The best I can figure out is that for some reason under the Vista environment, the auto update setting is controlled in the registry at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy
There is a REG_BINARY key there that appears to control this option. It is named "EnableAutoUpdateCheck". The problem is that the value of this key is "several" characters long and it is "different" from one user to the next. I tried disabling auto update under the Java Control Panel and then copied the value of this key into the same aread of the Default User hive but when a new user logs in, it ignores that setting and auto update is still enabled. I also tried using a simple "0" to disable the autoupdate or a "1" to enable it for this key, but it doesn't work either. (This is very frustrating why there isn't a simple 1 or 0 setting to turn the auto update setting on/off.)
We had no problem getting this to work under XP. Basically we didn't have to do anything special in XP. We simply created a temporary user account and made all the settings we wanted and then copied that profile over to our Default User profile and the Java autoupdate setting under the Java Control Panel was disabled for all new users. We did the same thing under Vista, but the auto update setting was ignored and re-enabled for all new users.
I read through the settings for the deployment.properties file located at the below link, but there is nothing there to control the auto update setting.
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/deployment/deployment-guide/properties.html
Thus, we can't get the auto update setting to be disabled in the default user profile so it will in turn be disabled for all new users that log into the computer. This is extremely frustrating.
The other equally frustrating problem we have run into under the Vista environment is that when you run the Java Control Panel, the option to disable the auto update check is "grayed out" and the user can't uncheck this option to disable auto update. We have found you must be an administrator before this option is no longer grayed out. Since none of our thousands of users are admins, this is also a problem for us. (This option works fine for a standard user if you are on a XP machine though. It's just Vista where things have changed.)
I've sent repeated emails to Sun in the past asking for help, but they never replied.

Status Update - don't know if this is a bug, design flaw, install problem or my misunderstanding.
I got it to work by first changing my Flex library to 4.5.0 - still didn't work with current
app and update mxml files using "2.6" for their namespace versions. But I did at least
get the popup error number 16815 - indicating an error in the update version namespace.
By leaving my application namespace version at "2.6" and changing the update version to "2.5" ... bingo!
I got my new update installed autiomatically.
Is this how it's supposed to work - or are my runtimes mixed up?
Will this work the same using the Flex 4.5.1 SDK? I'll find out shortly
    Hope this helps others.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, or hardware acceleration, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.

  • How to setup air help auto-update

    RH8 HTML.
Im fiddling around with the AIR Help file and trying to get the auto update working.
So far I have the comments syncing perfectly across users with a shared folder on our network.
I'm now publishing the air file to a shared folder again where everyone can get the  file and where the update.xml file is sitting.
so I have this looking structure.
    \\networkdrive\Adobe_AIR\Generic_AIR\AdobeAIRApplication\Help File.air
    \\networkdrive\Adobe_AIR\Generic_AIR\AdobeAIRApplication\Help_Update.xml
I set everything in RH Air output to publish to these folders, and I can see the newest files each time I do, I change the version numbers from 1.28 to 1.29, and this is reflected in the update.xml file where the version number has changed.
but when I go into the actual instaleld 1.28 version and use the Check Now feature to look for the latest 1.29 which has over written the 1.28 files in the shared folder, it finds nothing.
I cant find any way to manually point to where the update should be found.....do the update files have to sit in the same install directory or something? How does this work....aarrrgghhh
Is there another things I'm not doing?
    Thanks.

    Hi Nick
Good to hear that you are looking into AIR and Comment syncing is working fine.
Regarding the AIR auto update feature, you need to do the following
While generating the AIR file, you need to specify the update XML file location in AIR Help SSL generation option shown in the image below.
Now install this AIR file, and update the update.xml file and new version of AIR file, and it should work fine.
So the point is the installed air file need to know where to look for the update.xml file, it can be shared folder or a website.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Nokia S60v3 time auto update bug

**NOTE: You will ONLY see this bug if you live in USA where there is no DST**
I live in Phoenix (Arizona) and there is no day light savings here i.e. MST+NO DST or they also call it "Arizona time (GMT-7hr)".
When i bought N95-1 in April 2007, i had set the phone to auto update based on network time. It would always report +1 hour of my actual time i.e. 7:00PM when the actual time was 6:00PM. I did all sorts of debugging (changing sims, trying AT&T vs T-mobile sims, firmware updates) but no success and i ended up disabling network time and set the time manually on my phone which is not nice if you travel between time zones. My current sim would report correct time on my wife's Treo-680 & Motorola Razor. Later i bought N95-3, same problem!
Then i was surprised to see my friend with Nokia N80 had exactly the same problem here in Phoenix so now at least i knew i was not doing something stupid.
I finally nailed it that it is bug in Nokia phone software because after first Sunday of November (11/04/2007) when DST end in USA and we revert to standard time the Auto update feature started reporting correct time and is working properly now. And i bet after the second Sunday in March (i.e. on 9 March 08) when DST kicks in, it would go bad again to +1 hour offset.
Nokia needs to fix this bug.

I do not believe this is network operator issue. if that were the case, then it should break other phones as well. As far as I've been able to determine, looking at other Nokia, Sony Ericsson, LG, and Motorola phones, this isn't the case. They all work fine. Actually my Nokia 6270 works fine on the SAME operator and on the SAME sim card!!
Another point is that i even tried other operator SIM cards into my N95 and it is always the Nokia and not the operator. I can also say this with confidence that the issue is not only N series but also the E series device that have S60v3 or higher
I am not the first to report this. Here is another thread and towards the end it seems Nokia knows about this. Which makes me even more mad!

  • Auto updates

ok. im new to the forum. i searched the topic. and was a little confused on the answers i found. so heres my deal.
i have itunes for windows xp. and a 5th gen ipod.
when the ipod is connected it says i have software version 1.2.1 and im pretty sure i have the latest version of itunes.
my problem is, that i usually used to use auto update with no problems.
but ive been takin my ipod to my friends and trying to use it thru his computer during partys. but it wouldnt work since i hade auto updates on.
so i tried turning it off. and have had trouble with my ipod syncing up with my i tunes library.
rite now its syining up, but says its only loading 4200 songs, and i have just over 6000 in my library. its done this several times.
    im wondering whats causing this....
i would like to be able to sync up to my itunes before i change it to manual updates so that when i plug into my friends comp. i can get some of his music.
and when i use auto updates. im pretty sure that every song is checked.
i hope my question is clear....
    any help?
    thanks
