Recompile the Interactive report at runtime
Hi Everyone,
I have an Interactive report. It is based on the table that is generated by the job process. The process is executed every fortnight. The Job process drops the table and recreates it.
The table gets created with the same or with different column names.
When I run the report, it is validated against the older column names and complains in case any of it goes missing.
What is the way by which I can get this report working without manual intervention? (without logging in as developer and a click on Apply button, to include the column changes).
I searched the forum and could find some threads where the same topic is discussed but I was not able to figure out clear solution to achieve this.

Thanks,
Pooja.
Hi Tom,
Thanks a lot for replying.
I followed the steps from the following link, and got it working.

How can i reorder the columns in the do not display section of the interactive report.
Hi,
My interactive report contains 185 columns, and the user requieres to build his customized reports with some columns, but the he gets lost between this amount of columns, this would be easier if the columns in the do not display section of the interactive report would be sorted automaticaly, Is this possible?
Thanks a lot,Hi Eva,
One solution would be to order the column names alphabetically. You can create a JavaScript dynamic action to handle the sorting.
The shuttle of the IR attribute "Select Columns" have the ID's "apexir_SHUTTLE_LEFT" or the Hidden colums and "apexir_SHUTTLE_RIGHT" for the displayed columns.
The function you'd need to create would look like:
var options = $('select#apexir_SHUTTLE_LEFT option');
var arr = options.map(function(_, o) { return { t: $(o).text(), v: o.value }; }).get();
arr.sort(function(o1, o2) { return o1.t > o2.t ? 1 : o1.t < o2.t ? -1 : 0; });
options.each(function(i, o) {
o.value = arr[i].v;
$(o).text(arr[i].t);
var options = $('select#apexir_SHUTTLE_RIGHT option');
var arr = options.map(function(_, o) { return { t: $(o).text(), v: o.value }; }).get();
arr.sort(function(o1, o2) { return o1.t > o2.t ? 1 : o1.t < o2.t ? -1 : 0; });
options.each(function(i, o) {
o.value = arr[i].v;
$(o).text(arr[i].t);
You'd need to find the propper timing for the dynamic action to run, I guess click of the button "Select Columns" would do the trick.

Vincent

How to sort a average in the interactive report
I have a interactive report. The columns are candidate_name, reviewer_name, score.
each reviewer will have a score for a candidate. There are many candidates. My boss wants to know which candidate get the highest average score. I build an interactive report.
I can average the score for each candidate_name and break with this column. I don't know if we can sort the average score for each candidate_name column. If we can, how to do this.
Thanks a lot!Not sure if you got an answer for this, but the only way I know how to do it would be to use an analytic function on the query so that the average of the scores is listed as a column. When you have that, then you can sort by it. As of ApEx 3.2.1, you will not be able to create this new column using the interactive reports "Compute" feature. You'll need to build it into the SQL.

How does the Filter Operator "Contains" work on the Interactive Reports?
version 4.0.2.00.07
Hello,
I'm creating Tool Tip definitions for the Operators in the Filter on the Interactive Reports. I was looking for a definition for the 'Contains' operator and from what I've found this operator is used to do a text search and it returns a relevance score for every row selected.
I've also read that in order for that score to be determined that the column(s) need to be indexed with a CONTEXT index. Non of the columns in the tables are indexed with a CONTEXT index, however, when I put a value in the Expression box for a column I get a record returned.
If I run the same query in PL/SQL Developer like:
SELECT <column>
FROM <table>
WHERE contains(<column>,<search text>,1) > 0;I get an error that the column is not indexed, so how does it work in APEX?
Thanks,

The IR "Contains" filter performs a simple string comparison on all of the column values returned. It does not make use of any Oracle Text indexes on the underlying data.
Despite < a href="https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=2434666">vague promises of enhancement</a>, no Oracle Text support has yet been included in Interactive Reports. -
Is it possible to bypass the interactive report
Hi -
Is there a way to skip the interactive report and go directly to page 2 of my application if the report only returns one row?
Thanks,

Could you give me an example?I can't give you an example because I haven't actually done this, and we're trying to establish connectivity for my new project (no Apex connectivity yet).
I'm thinking of something like having region item that's populated by a query, probably the count you are lookng for. The region header might have some JavaScript code looking at the count value as a substitution variable or text value you assign and possibly perform a redirect based on that value as set up in the page header. -

I like to show a Title for the Interactive Report in several different languages.
But it seems if I just pick Interactive report, there will be no Title shown.
What is proper way of doing this ?
So, what I did was, I created a HTNL region, just to show the Title, but it seems the translation and XLF file doesn't pick it up
Please help

It looks like a bug.
The REGION title text is missing in "TRANSLATE APPLICATION" in "SHARED COMPONENTS" under WINDOWS environment.

Output only the Interactive Reporting document in an IR job/output?
Hello,
I have created an Interactive Reporting job using the File->Import->File as Job. I have walked through the various screens to supply oce connection information, output directory etc. The output however, shows up as a Table of Contents - 1) Interactive Reporting Document 2) Interactive Reporting Document (Web Client) 3) A HTML file that contains log information.
Is there a way to specify that only yhe Interactive Reporting Document be generated and placed in a target directory of choice?
I don't want to produce an output everyday and have my users open up the Table of Content and have them pick the document. I just want the document output standalone.
Thanks in advance.Wasn't there an Acrobat issue that affected this as well? Make sure that is updated, too.
While I'm on it, this is being viewed in Acrobat/Reader, right? Anything else, especially Mac Preview is a bit of crapshoot. -

Edited by: froggica on Oct 6, 2010 10:56 PMHi,
Ok, good
I do have another version of javascript that catch IR pagination
function IRgetPagination(pVal){
parameter pVal values:
first = Return IR first row
last = Return IR last row
max = Return IR max rows
if parametter pVal is something else return all values in array
var p=$.trim($('#apexir_DATA_PANEL').find('td.pagination').find('span.fielddata').text());
var a=new Array();var n=new Array();a=p.split(' ');
$.each(a,function(i,v){if(!isNaN(v)){n.push(v)}});
switch(pVal){case 'first':return n[0];case 'last':return n[1];case 'max':return n[2];default:return n}
}And with this you can do bit simple
$s('Px_MY_ITEM', IRgetPagination('max')); /* Set item Px_MY_ITEM value to IR max rows */Regards,

Set header at runtime on Interactive Report
I have an interactive report that displays twelve months across the report. The user can then choose a start year and month for the first column of the report. So, at runtime, I would like to populate the header with the appropriate year/month.
On a regular report region, you can set the header using a Function returning colon delimited headings. I do not see this functionality on the interactive report. Am I overlooking something or is there another method where I can set the headers for these columns at runtime?
Thanks,Andy,
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I am having trouble implementing. When I place &P1_MONTH1. in my header, my header displays &P1_MONTH1. Hopefully, I am just implementing incorrectly. I am opening the Interactive Report and just entering &P1_MONTH1. in the Heading column for the appropriate column. Is this correct?
NOTE: I placed the &P1_MONTH1. on a SQL Report and it worked. However, when trying to use on an Interactive Report it does not.
Thanks,

Mixing of interactive report and classic report fails the RESET PAGINATION process.
I have a tab page where i got 3 different reports REPORT_A (classic), REPORT_B(interactive) and REPORT_C (CLASSIC) in the same alphabetic order. I have a reset pagination page process which will always fire (without any condition) when you visit the page via tab.
The reset pagination process which exists in the before header stage is firing but not resetting the interactive report. It does affect the subsequent classic report REPORT_C as well. The REPORT_A would reset pagination fine since it exists before the interactive report. Is this a know bug in apex?
I created a test demo application with exact steps to reproduce the problem. The steps are in the demo website itself.
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=56638
U: testuser
P: password
Apex Version: 4.2.4.00.08
In my real application i would have a dropdownlist in the page based on which I would filter the data. The dropdownlist will have a corresponding after-submit branch which will handle the reset pagination & RIR absolutely fine. But when we visit the website through tab the above problem would crash the page.
I tried solutions like gReport.search('SEARCH') but that will fix only the interactive report, not the classic REPORT_C. That is just a hack anyway.
Any ideas.?Ramani_vadakadu wrote:

This makes very little sense to me. Please explain this in detail. Are you advocating making changes to APEX metadata by executing DML on tables in the APEX_040200 schema? Doing so will leave your APEX instance in an unsupported an possibly inoperable state.
