Reconfigured Router: Can't Access Settings

While trying to do some port-forwarding I reconfigured the IP address of the router. This doesn't seem to be any better and now I want to set it back to it's default (192.168.1.1.) because of the following issues:
1) Router is now named Gateway (before it was the model number WRT160N)
2) I can't access the Secure the Wireless Network option to reconfigure - I get a pop-up window that states: ERROR - Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
3) Can;t access Advanced Settings from the router drop down menu.
4) All connected devices all have the same static IP...my error?
Any ideas?
Thanks

As you have already changed the settings on your Router, and now you are unable to make any changes on your Router, then i think you need to reset your Router and Re-Configure all the settings back on your Router again.
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
Once you re-configure all the settings on your Router, Follow the steps bellow to configure the wireless settings on your Router.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
Click on the Wireless tab
- Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
- Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
- Set the Radio Band to Wide-40MHz and change the Wide channel to 9 and Standard Channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on save settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select AES...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 50 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

• I can't get rid of a "Not Enough Storage" pop-up on my IPad2. Can't close it and can't access settings. Can't shut off the device either. It's just locked up. What can I do?

How can I get rid of the "Not Enough Storage" pop-up on my IPad2? It won't go away, I can't cancel it, I can't access settings, and I can turn off the IPad to reboot. It is just locked up.

Reboot the device.
Shut down the device by holding the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time.
Hold them both until you see the screen go black. In some cases, you may need to keep holding them even after the red power off slider appears. If it does, just keep holding it.
Wait until the white Apple logo appears.
When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone is rebooting.

• Windows 10 Technical Preview 10041, Firefox Nightly x64 most current, can launch, can't access settings, cannot place cursor in URL box

Have Windows 10 Technical Preview build 10041, Firefox Nightly x64 39.0a1 most current. Firefox will launch, but when browser appears no input to screen possible. Can't access settings, can't place cursor in URL box. Tried compatibility modes with no success. I may not have used this browser on Thursday, March 26, but it was working without issue on Wednesday, March 25. My speculation would be that one of the last two nightly updates broke this. This question posted from Chrome as Firefox not operating.

hello, that appears to be a known bug that's being worked on ([https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1147953 bug #1147953]).
please also note that as long as windows 10 is in it's pre-release preview state and there are still changes to the core platform, it will not be fully supported by firefox and things are bound to go wrong on occasion.

• ICloud forcing sign in and can't access settings to turn data on

My wife's iPhone 5s has data switched off while overseas. When accessing the camera, the phone started to ask her to sign in to iCloud. As data is off, it will not accept the password (incorrect Apple ID password). When you press cancel it immediately asks you to log in again, not letting you access anything including settings to turn data on or disable iCloud. Nothing on the phone can be used as it insists that she log in to iCloud. Turning the phone off and on and a hard reset do not fix the problem. Any ideas?

Hi, I have this exact same problem but my home WiFi has changed and this where my problem lies. Did u manage to get this sorted while away from your wifi?

• All of my accounts display "Invalid account" and I can't access settings. How do I fix this?

This has been a problem for a while now, but it wasn't always like this. One day, it just happened! Everything else seems to work okay, and I can still read and write mail, but accessing account settings for any of them is broken.
I already followed the steps provided by Mozilla to "rebuild the global database" hoping it would help, but it did not. I attached an image of what my problem looks like, as well as the troubleshooting information provided by Thunderbird. I had to screenshot the PDF pages, hope you don't mind.
Please help me get things back to normal! Thanks in advance. :-)

Well, the Thunderbird team just released on March 20 an update to the beta channel. My problem is now mysteriously fixed! Don't know why...but maybe some obscure setting under the hood was reset when the upgrade went through.

• Linksys Router, Can't Access Internet

I'm trying to hook up a Linksys router to my mom's iMac so I can get wireless on my Powerbook. I followed the instructions, and everything seemed to be ok - all the proper lights are green, the network pref says it is connected to the internet, my powerbook is picking up the signal - but I can't actually load anything on the net (except the linksys registration module I get when typing in the router's IP). I tried linksys tech support, but they only stated the obvious and punctuated every other sentence with the fact that they only have limited support for Macs.
It's especially frustrating since I have to disconnect everything to actually get on the internet to find help! Argh. Any suggestions?

The router is pretty smart, and will sync up with the modem without difficulty.
Since you have internet access, go to www.linksys.com. Click on support, techincal support, and easy answers. Click search by answer id. Here are two you want to look at:
#759 Setting up wireless security
#187 Setting up WPA on WRT54G
If you also search by phrase on 'setting up' and the name of your service provider, ie, might be Verizon for DSL or Comcast for cable. That will bring up a instructions for your service provider.
As Sig stated, the WRT54G is basically plug and play. However, you do need to enable security. 3 recommendations:
1) Disable SSID broadcast. You'll tell your PB the SSID, but others don't need to know it.
2) Protect your wireless information by using WPA Personal security, as WEP can be broken in 15 minutes. Use a long pass phrase which includes special characters like any of those above the numbers on the keyboard. Longer and complex is more secure. I had difficulty with WPA2 personal, as my PB would not connect coming out of sleep, however WPA Personal works fine.
3) Prevent others from sharing your internet connection by enabling mac filtering (use your systems airport id or in the system profiler go to network and use the mac address). That way, you only allow your machine, or others by choice, to use your connection.
That should get your router securely setup. Then on your PB connect by entering the network name (the router SSID), the type of security (WPA Personal), and your pass phrase.

• Won't update to 7.4.1, can't access settings and TC is very slow

I started Airport Utility to make some changes to my settings. It claimed to have an update. I selected update but alas, it just endlessly says "Searching for latest firmware version" after I enter my password. I quit Airport Utility to make the changes I had originally planned on but now it get's no further than "reading configuration".
Also, I stream a lot of data from a connected disk to my computers. It's horribly slow normally, but now it just won't work.

Well, first off, you are running a very ancient version of Mac OS, you should update to at least 10.5, preferably 10.6 if your computer can support it. This shouldn't cost you all that much money. It will probably at most cost you about $40 to fully update your computer (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4517588?tstart=0). the benefits of upgrading are numerous, but mainly will provide you increased security, performance and stability. Right now your computer is not safe to use online.
After you update, update Firefox [[Update Firefox to the latest version]] and your plugins (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/)
Note, this won't work until you update Mac OS X

• My 'save image as" settings have suddenly changed. where can i access them to change them back?

It used to be when I'd "save image as..." I could choose a folder and be given its contents in list form before saving. helped a lot in not duplicating names. Now when I save an image my save menu has suddenly changed to a completely horizontal format bar in whicj I choose one folder on the tree at a time and it gives me no choice as to format in which to save nor visual on the folders existing contents. How can I access settings for saving images?
Thanks

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
In Firefox 4 and later [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

• Can't Access Router Settings via 192.168.2.1

I have recently changed modem/routers as my connection speed was increased recently and the old modem wasn't up to the task... The previous modem/router was preconfigured and I did nothing to it, however the new one requires settings be fixed by accessing it via a browser at 192.168.2.1
When the technician came to check my line and set up the new modem, we encountered a strange situation. Despite being connected by Ethernet cable, my machine could not access the IP address reserved for the router.
The reply is: "Safari can’t connect to the server.
Safari can’t open the page “http://192.168.2.1/” because Safari can’t connect to the server “192.168.2.1”."
We tried Firefox and the same happened.
I have deactivated my firewall, rebooted, changed cables, restarted the router, got Safari to pretend to be Explorer, got the neighbor's dog to bark at it, everything except make a blood pact with the devil, and the two browsers on my machine think that 192.168.2.1 is an external address- which it isn't, and of course fails to connect.
The technician used his laptop to configure the thing, so I can access the internet (obviously) but I must find out why I can't access the router/modem's settings, if only to find some logical reason for this illogical behavior.
I've tried looking this issue up, and I get lots of bad wiring, wireless connection, windows proprietary shenanigans, but none that explain my situation.
I'd appreciate it if someone could help me make sense of this.
My setup:
Computer Model Name: Power Mac G4 (AGP graphics)
Model Identifier: PowerMac3,1
Processor Name: PowerPC G4 (3.3)
Processor Speed: 1.35 GHz
Number Of CPUs: 1
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
L3 Cache (per CPU): 2 MB
Memory: 832 MB
Bus Speed: 100 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.2.8f1
Sales Order Number: M7827LL/A
Router: "2-Wire Gateway"

Your advice did the job quite nicely and it seems this is the "natural way of things," but I was totally unaware of it since my previous modems were preconfigured and I never had to muck about with subnets and such things.
What irks me is that this is basic, bare bones information that the Tech support people should have given me right off the bat. Why do they assume I have all the right numbers input into the Ethernet or PPPoE settings? They seemed totally perplexed that I couldn't connect, and frankly so was I- since my old Mac, as decrepit as it is, is still able to kick it with the modern way of things better than most computers I work with.
If they had asked me if I had set the right IP's in the right slots, it could have been fixed in 2 minutes.
Thank you very much for solving my problem, it saves me a lot of stress and confusion.

• New Ipod Touch 5g can't access Internet in home network (using Linksys E4200 router). But, OK with other Wifi.

Just bought new Ipod Touch 5g. I found out it can't access Internet in home network. not really cannot access, but very slow to open any web page, App Store failed to access, etc. But, OK with other Wifi (office & starbucks). Others existing iOS devices (Iphone4 & Ipad2) have no problem like this. I'm using Linksys E4200 router at home. anyone has any idea why?

Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>GeneralReset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

• IPhone 5s can connect to wireless WIFI router but can not access internet.

iPhone 5s can connect to wireless WIFI router but can not access internet at work. The admin says the router lets my iPhone connect to LAN, but the iPhone does not have server IP to access the internet. I entered the server IP and port number in the HTTP PROXY fields but I still can not access the web. Any ideas?
TIA
Rich

You IT person should be able to sort this out. But, they seems to be too busy or disinterested to do this. Suggest you provide the it person with an iPhone to get interested.
Any could be lots of things.
The best you can do is to get access to the admin setup for networking on a pc? The internet settings are all the same. Only what names the manufactures change from OS to OS. Check and compare parameters.
Phone works to internet at home, I assume?

• WRT54GX2 isn't working, can't access its settings

There seems to be a problem with my wireless WRT54GX2 router. It was working fine but now is not. Not only can I not access the internet when it is properly connected but I can't even reach the 192.168.1.1 settings. If I disconnect the router and connect directly to the modem and login to my SBC DSL PPPoE the internet works fine.
When the router is connected the power, internet, wireless, and LAN LEDs are all on. I have hit the reset button and it doesn't help. I have ran the router's setup CD, followed the directions, but when I reach the final step of saving the settings I eventually get the message that the router can't be found.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

You will need to try to reset your router to the factory defaults. (Note: if you get stuck at any step, note the exact error message, and what lights on the router are on.)
Do the following:
1) Power down your computer, router, and modem, and unplug them from the wall.
2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
3) Connect one computer, by wire, to LAN port 1 (not the Internet port). DO NOT CONNECT THE MODEM.
4) Power up the router, allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
5) Press and hold the router reset button for 20 seconds, then release the button. Allow the router to reset and fully boot (2-3 minutes).
6) Power down the router, and wait 2 minutes.
7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
8) Power up computer.
9) Now, try to ping your router. To do this, click the "Start button", select "Run". In the box labeled "Open", type in "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), then click on "OK". A black box will open and 3 or 4 lines will appear that start with "Reply from ..." or "Request timed out". If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1
11) Leave the user name blank, and enter the password "admin"
12) This should take you to your router setup pages. Note the router's firmware version. This should be listed in the upper right hand corner of the router's web page.
13) Close your browser.
Report back with your results, including your firmware version, and any error messages, and we will proceed to the next step.
If you get through all the steps with no errors, and all this is working, then you should be able to use your setup CD to complete the router setup.

I import photos to iCloud. Tells me to check settings but when I do I can't find the problem.

I've not experienced this, but a few other people have reported the same.
I don't know what the issue is, but try changing your DNS server settings to use Google's DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 in either your router settings or your computers internet settings.
(Incidentally, you can't access iCloud.com from an iOS device).

can't access modem settings, from safari,i after updating to mavericks,

You need to put your dsl modem into bridge mode. Then enter your PPPoE settings into the router. You might have to powercycle (unplug power for 30seconds) your modem when connecting diifferent devices to it. You said that you can't connect to the router @ 192.168.2.1 ?
You can use this as a guide after you put the modem into bridge mode.
