Reconnectin Media only works for one file at a time...

Hi,
After having many times relinked hundreds of off-line media files in one go, FCP now doesn't want to reconnect more than one file at a time. Although all other files are in the relative path, it seems as if I have to relink 1200 files one by one...
I've found another thread in here, unfortunately closed, but wonder if that bug hasn't been fixed yet. Does anybody know a solution for this?

AND... don't forget that "relative path ALSO refers to the perhaps many bins you have inside FCP. So it's possible to connect everything in a particular bin, as long as all those files are in the same folder on your drives, whether it be capture scratch, or another folder of imported material. some people I know like to put EVERYTHING in the capture scratch folder for that reason. I personally don't, but I've got a system that works for me.
EDIT: I had a mentor once, many years ago, who suggested strongly that you ought to leave the cutting room every day set in such a way as ANYONE could walk in the next day and pick up right where you left off, just in case you got run over by a car. And dang it, that's just what happened to me. Ralph, you doomed me!
Now, while he was talking film, the same rules apply. Best not to have files floating all over the place, where you've got to go searching for them.
Whether there is a bug with a specific version, I have no idea.

You need to give more info..
Firstly only works for what.. networking.. backup.. wireless. You need more nouns.. more adjectives... describe what you want and what fails.. then we can figure out why.
Most likely you have bridged it when it should be in router mode..
Most likely you are using Lion or ML which has the airport utility bridge the TC by default.
Change it to working as a router. That might help.
If you press reset button it will default back to router btw.

Audio only working for one user at a time - flash is the cause

If one user is listening to something via some kind of web (flash) media player, and the other user logs on, then this 'new' user is unable to listen to anything at all - all audio is blocked - not just web stuff
I know flash is the cause as I can go to task manager and kill the other person's flash plug in and the sound comes on instantly
I've tried reinstalling but no joy
How can I fix this?

I've reinstalled flash and checked that I have the latest version but this is getting ridiculous
Everytime I want to use skype or itunes or iplayer, I have to log in as the other user, close down all their web browsers, then go back to my account to get it to work, much to the annoyance of the other user.

Flash only works for one user

Using IE7. I have three users on my computer. All
have Administrator level access. Flash only works for one of them.
When attempting to play a video on YouTube for example it says "You
either have JavaScrip turned off or an old version of Adobe Flash
Player."
JS is turned on and the current version of Flash Player is
installed.
So does anyone know what is going on here?

I was able to fix my problem of Flash only working on user
account. I did the following two steps to correct the problem:
1. First uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX
control by following the instructions stated in
tn_14157.
2. Second Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission
issues that prevent the Flash Player installation by following the
instructions stated in
fb1634cb.
Following the above two steps, fixed my problem of only
having Flash run on only one user account. Now it runs on all four
user accounts.
As a side note: The Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control
would not run in user accounts with Limited access. But when I set
the permission of the user account to administrative, then Flash
would work.

IMovie less than an hour. share to iDVD failed. read to share to media browser. worked for one movie. tried on different one and iDVD hung up and had to use force quit to get out of it. tried several times -- same result. suggestions?

My applications always quit...iChat only works for 4 minutes at a time HELP

ok so i bought leopard today
i installed it but i skipped that step when leopard checks the volume of your comp or whateever (not sure if that will affect what im about to say)
now i have leopard...i love it but my applications just KEEP quitting out and my iChat only works for 4 minutes and then my friends stop recieving my messages
should i uninstall and re install?? how would i go about doing that??

One possibility is that your hard drive is failing. If you don't have backups of any data you don't want to lose, that needs to be your number one priority. Get that data backed up. Once you have done that, you can start exploring options.
Open Disk Utility, select your hard drive and take a look at the SMART status:
If it says anything other than Verified, the drive is definitely failing. If it says Verified, all that means is that it isn't failing in a way that the drive can detect.

ITUNES ONLY WORKS FOR 5 MINUTES AT A TIME

iTunes stopped working about a month ago, but then I fixed it using the msconfig solution. It worked for a while now I have the same problem, i can fix it, but then iTunes only works for about five minutes before closing. This is the only way I can fix it; first, by re-installing iTunes, then, doing the msconfig solution and restarting the computer. Then after about 5 minutes it closes. To open it again I have to go through the whole proccess. I cannot figure out how to permanently fix it.

Sounds like you have some malware that is interfering with iTunes.
What do you have to turn off in msconfig to get iTunes working?
It's pretty involved to remove it. If you have purchased security software like Norton or McAfee, I suggest contacting them for help.

Color checker profile (in lightroom) only work for JPEG file?

I followed all tutorials for color checker-lightroom and succeeded to sync my JPEG images into the camera profile I want.
However, these are JPEG images from the camera. I want to work with raw file or at least PSD file.
So my retouch pipeline was:
- opened my raw file
- save it as PSD
- back to lightroom and open it there
- and intended to sync this PSD file image with the camera profile
But this is impossible to do, because suddenly all the camera profile options (the ones we generated via color checker passport and the default adobe profile) are dissapeared. The only option of camera profile now is "embeded".
That's it. So does it mean that I have to convert my raw file into JPEG first ?
If yes, it's very unpractical and I can loose a lot of data bcause I thought saving it to PSD or TIF keep the image data better than into JPEG.

In LR Preferences / External Editing you can control things about the LR-to-PS transfer: the file format (PSD/TIFF), the color profile (sRGB, AdobeRGB, ProPhotoRGB), and the bit-depth (8 vs 16).
My Edit-in-Photoshop is set to use PSD, ProPhotoRGB, 16-bit. I have chosen this because it gives me a large colorspace, with millions of distinct colors and a file-format that can contain smart-layers and other Photoshop-specific things. LR, itself, is using a color-sapce as large as ProPhotoRGB and I don’t want to lose colors just because I’m editing in Photoshop, at least not until I’ve finished my adjustments in PS.
A large colorspace with millions of colors gives more freedom for extreme adjustments before color banding (posterization) or color-shifting (channel clipping) at the bright end of the histogram. The downside is that before I can save my photo as JPG for general viewing is that I need to set PS / Edit / Convert Profile to sRGB and PS / Image / Mode to 8-bit.
It sounds like you are saving your photos as 8-bit ProProtoRGB not realizing you also need to convert to sRGB as your color profile. For browsers and operating-systems that don’t do color-management correctly, which is most browsers and Windows-halfway, your ProPhotoRGB color numbers in the JPG are being interpreted as sRGB which makes them much duller and less saturated. It may be that you have your External Editing set to 8-bits, which is not a good idea if you are using ProPhotoRGB as your colorspace, so set it to 16-bit.

Custom service only working with one file, not multiple ones

Hi,
I created a service in which I can resize selected images through photoshop and format them for the web. I was able to successfully place this into a contextualized menu, which is awesome for me.
However, when I select a group of files in the finder, secondary click, and run the service, the action only completes the first file. The other files remain open in photoshop (they do not get resized, or saved).
What am I doing wrong?
My service workflow looks like this:
Service recieves selected "image files" in "any application"
Save for Web:
save to: "a web folder I made for this practice"
use "Adobe photoshop CS
type: jpeg
constrain size to 800 X 800
Then the second part of the workflow is"Make names Web-Friendly.
I found these plugins on Apples download page, called "save for web 2.5"
Any help would be great.

Graphite only works with one laptop at a time

I'm looking for some help for my daughter who is out of town doing an internship, so I'm trying to troubleshoot long distance. She has our old graphite airport base station. It worked fine here last time it was used. She has comcast cable internet in her apartment in Denver. She owns a G4 iBook & her roommate has a MacBook. The cable modem is plugged into the graphite base station and my daughter can access the internet wirelessly, but her roommate cannot. If my daughter's computer is off, then the roommate can access the internet wirelessly. I can't figure out why the Airport is only allowing one computer at a time to connect to the internet. Any ideas or suggestions?

The option is usually called "Share single IP address" but it may be worded differently on the graphite.

My time capsule will only work with one device at a time

I just purchased the Airport time capsule. I have it set up with my imac, but I also run a macbook air, older macbook, PC laptop, PC desktop, wii, xbox, and 3 iphones off of this device. My issue is that my ISP does not serve more than 1 IP address and with previous routers, the IP address they recognized was only on my router. Now, each time a new device tries to use the internet, my ISP is bypassing time capsule and recognizing the device IP address. It's very frustratitng! How do I set up my Time Capsule so that it's IP address is the only one my ISP recognizes, but all my devices are able to run off of the Time Capsule as the router. (obviously I am not over educated in this area so solutions in simple language are greatly appreciated!) Thanks!

I read the same solution somewhere else in the forum but it does not solve my problem. When I set up the Airport, it sets up in bridge mode by default. When I contacted my ISP they said it needed to be in bridge mode (their rationale is that they only allow 1 IP address). I just switched it to DHCP and NAT and this is what the default settings go to:

My internet "Digis". www.digis.net. They are a smaller company and put a dish on my roof. The modem is very small, does not have a router.

Internet only works on one machine at a time

I have three linux machines on my local network - my server running mandrake,one running gentoo and the other running a new install of Arch
Trouble is, that whenever the arch box acceses the internet, the gentoo box has real trouble with doing so - all the name lookups fail...
As soon as I stop network activity on the arch box - the gentoo box is fine again
I realise this could be an issue with my ISP - but it does seem odd that the network is only struggling when more than one machine is trying to get online...
My server is the only box with direct access to the net
Any ideas what could be wrong here?
Edit: another reason to suspect it's a linux thing is that the windows laptop also on the same network has none of the same problems...

I would suspect wrong network configuration (ip conflict? nat?) But without any details it's almost impossible to help you.
First of all you have to tell us if you connect your gentoo and arch boxes through your mandrake server with nat or maybe all 3 boxes are connected to some external router/switch/whatever? Please post your net configs (at least from rc.conf). If all 3 boxes are connected directly to your provider this may also mean that there are some limits - in this case I would suggest connecting desktop machines through your server with nat or buying some small hardware router. That's as much as I can tell for now until you provide some configs.
EDIT: one more thing: if you say that your win notebook works just try to copy it's config options to arch - it should be easy. Check ip, dns servers, if it uses dhcp - basic things form network connection properties - tcpip protocol.

Ram upgrade only works in one slot at a time

Hey, has anybody experienced this same issue? I have a mid 2009 Macbook Pro 13" and I was trying to upgrade from the factory 2 Gbs of RAM to 8 Gbs. I have 2X4 Gbs of memory and it turns out that only one 4 Gbs stick works at a time. The laptop boots up fine with only one 4 Gig stick inserted, and it doesn't matter whether the second slot is empty or has one of the old 1 Gig sticks inserted, nor does it matter which slot has the 4 Gig stick, but when I have both 4 Gig sticks installed it won't boot up. It just stays on the grey screen after the startup sound. I've tried resetting the SCM and the PRAM with no effect. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I don't actually know the brand, I got the RAM off of ebay and it's not labeled. The parts and serial numbers for both sticks are all 0's so perhaps the RAM is a knockoff of some kind.
But, both sticks work, in either of the two slots, as long as only 1 stick at a time (of the 4 Gb) is installed. This leads me to think it has something to do with coordinating both sticks at once? It works fine whether the second slot has a 1 Gb stick in it or if it's empty.
And with both factory sticks everything works fine. It's only with both 4 Gb sticks that there's a problem.

E.g. There are 100 files in the source folder but I only want to pick up 1 of the files every time I poll the source folder in my sender file adapter.

Any way to transcode more than one file at a time?

I've noticed that Final Cut Pro X, when doing transcoding (for Optimizing or creative Proxy media) only processes a single file at a time (whereas it can handle processing up to 5 audio files at once), and is only using about 70% of my processor(s) -- I have a dual core, Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, about 500MB used by FCPX during the processing. So this thing should have PLENTY of processor and memory headroom to use, and it should certainly be able to transcode more than one file at a time. Yet it isn't nearly taking full advantage of the processors, or the RAM. Is there any solution to this problem?
