Reconnecting files moved to same path on different volume

I have Photoshop Elements 10 running on Windows Vista. Most of my photos were stored on a network drive (\\mybookworld) which was mapped as drive X:\ . Recently I upgraded my network storage, mapped drive X:\ to the new drive (\\mybooklive), and disposed of the old drive. A quick check suggested that all photos were found OK.
However, it would appear that I have not been as clever as I thought. I have now noticed that a number of the photos in my Photoshop catalog have pathnames beginning with \\mybookworld, rather than X:\. This probably arose because the drive mapping occasionally disappeared, and I had to access the drive via its network path.
I can reconnect the disconnected photos individually, but the Reconnect dialog does not remember the location of the previous successful reconnect, meaning that I have to manually navigate to X:\ each time. There are too many disconnected files for it to be feasible to do this manually.
Is there a way to globally replace the string \\mybookworld with X:\ in my catalog? Would upgrading to PSE 11 make this task easier?
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can render.
Cheers,
Tim.

Tim.
The only global way to replace the string would be to edit the sqlite database (catalog.pse10db) with an sql management software and a special query. If you are ready to try this route, there have been details posts about the process, with queries devised by Photodrawken in particular.

In my tests, PSE11 is smarter in remembering the path for the search. I would begin by installing the trial version of PSE11 and convert the catalog. For the conversion it does not matter if you have missing files. Then try the PSE11 reconnect version and see if that works better for you.

Firefox itself can't play FLV files so you need a "helper" application (or a plugin for flv files, if ther is one. You can see if Firefox is already set up to download or open FLV files by going to Firefox Preferences and looking in the Applications list. Find the FLV file type in the list and, if the action is "Open with", it should show the application that can play FLV files (e.g., VLC Media Player or Perian). • Importing files of the same name in *different* folders?

    Yes, yes, we all know about the RAW+JPEG and whatever else argument.
    But why should I be prevented from importing identical files that are stored in different folders? Who cares if they are in the library twice?
    I haven't figured out if it's just a name issue (don't think so) or if the files have to be truly identical.
    I *think*, but am not sure, that you can import separate files of the same name but that are actually different images. Can anyone verify?
    Lee Jay

    Bob,
    It appears that you can import duplicate named files by unchecking the "ignore Duplicates' box--the first time you import files (or a file) from a folder. But, if you go back to that folder to use 'import' to update, then the import takes place immediately bypassing the screen with the "ignore Dulicates' box on it--I presume it assumes that you would not want to change any of the original settings for an import from a given folder.
    The point is you had better leave it unchecked always if you want duplicates ingested intially or later on reimport.

  • Multiclip on FCP 7 with timecode: multiple files for the same camera have different Angle

    I have FCStudio 7 with OS 10.6.8
    I just filmed a concert with 6 cameras (Sony XDCAM).  They are all timecode sync'd.
    For various reasons there are multiple vid files for each camera (i.e. 172_003 thru 172_006 for camera 1).
    I imported into FCP 7 using SonyXDCAM plug in with no problems.  Each camera file group was given its camera number as the Reel Name (i.e. Camera 1) and that camera's number as its Angle Name (i.e. 1).
    Now when I try and create a multiclip using all six cameras, instead of keeping all the files for a specific camera under a single angle name it treats each file as its own camera angle.  It treats each file as an individual camera instead of having the files flow as a single clip from a single camera based on their timecode.  In viewer I have 8 different angles for a single camera (because of 8 files).  In the make media window for multiclip, the Angle Name is different for each clip but its position is still aligned to its timecode.
    I worked the same project last year and the multiple files for each camera lined up fine, based on its timecode value and camera/reel name.  I can't see what has changed.
    I need each camera's files to sync under that camera Angle Name, and for the files to play in the same angle spot in viewer.
    All advice welcomed as I'm in a major time crunch to complete the job.
    Thanks.

    Well why not just prebuild each angle in its own sequence with sequence timecode matching the source timecode?  Export with current settings and import these files back into fcp and then create your multiclip.

  • Importing files with same name but different extensions

    Hope I will be clear enough.
    Lets say that instead of sending a file from Lightroom to an external editor, I open it directly in Photoshop.
    When I'm done, I save the edited photo using the same name but in a different file format : IMG_1333.cr2 > IMG_1333.psd or IMG_1333.tif, and selecting the same folder location.
    Then, I come back into Lightroom and synchronise the folder.
    Why is the knew version of the picture not showing up beside the original file, despite the different extension ?
    I notice that the different extensions ( .psd or .tif ) are recorded in the sidecar files field in the Metadata panel.
    Of course, everything works fine if the file name is modified ( or just by selecting the "copy" option in Photoshop's "save as" dialog box ). Lightroom synchronise dialog shows the new photo to import.
    So, why is Lightroom not making a difference between files with the same name but different format extensions ?
    Thanks for any hint :-)
    Gilles.

    Gilles-
    I think your problem is likely that you have the option to stack the copy with the original turned on. First, right-click on one of these photos and go to the stacking menu. If Unstack is not grayed out then you have a stack -- select Unstack to reveal all copies.
    To change the automatic stacking of edited copies from Photoshop, when you next choose to edit a file, in the bottom left corner of the dialog is the check box for unstacking. Clear it, and that choice should "stick" until you change it again.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to check-in multiple files with same name having different revision num

    Hi
    Can anyone please tell me, how to check-in multiple files with the same name with different revision number using RIDC API.
    For eg:
    First I will check-in a file(TestFile.txt) into a content server with revision number 1 using RIDC API in ADF application. Then after some time, will modify the same file(TestFile.txt) and check-in again. I tried to check-in same file multiple times, however first time its checking-in correctly into server showing revision as 1, while checking-in same file again, its not giving any errror message, and also its not reflecting in server. Only one file(TestFile.txt) is reflecting in server.
    How to implement this functinality using RIDC API? Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Regards
    Raj

    Hi Srinath
    Thanks for your response. Its not cloning, its like check-in file first, then check-out the file and do some editing and then again upload the same file with different revision number using RIDC. I got the solution now.

  • How to install oracle multiple homes in the same path

    Hi,
    In my environment i have multiple oracle home.
    for ex:
    /u01/oracle/product/10.2.0.3/
    /u01/oracle/product/10.2.0.4/
    /u01/oracle/product/11.2.0.1/
    The above are the oracle default home paths
    now i want to install 11.2.0.2 in the same path with different folder under the same name version
    may i know what are the pre-request parameter that i need to check in solaris 64 bit
    And i want to install oracle software alone
    while installing oracle software alone how about the file /var/opt/oracle/oratab and oracle oraInventory files
    whether it replace the old version oracle file. Please clarify
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    By default, the Oracle Inventory directory is not installed under the Oracle Base directory.
    This is because all Oracle software installations share a common Oracle Inventory,
    ...The Oracle Inventory should be shared by all Oracle installations on the Server. So its location is unique.
    However, you may have several Oracle Base directories.
    Oracle Base is the root directory of the Oracle installation and may change from one major release to another one. However, the same Oracle Base may be used for several installations:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e17163/glossary.htm#g998168
    Also, by default OUI suggest you the Oracle Base directory. In general you have something like "/u01/app/oracle". But you are free to set the Oracle Base directory you prefer.
    Hope this help.
    Best regards,
    Jean-Valentin

  • FindClass() not able to find the class in the same path

    Hi,
    I have a c prototype which calls a java function which push a message in JMS. i'm using jdk1.6. i have set JavaVMInitArgs vm_args.version = JNI_VERSION_1_6 when i compile the c code as gcc -g -lgcj -I $JAVA_HOME/include -I $JAVA_HOME/include/linux CallJMS.c the JNI_CreateJavaVM(&jvm, (void*)&env, &vm_args)* returns JNI_ERR. After changing version to 1.4 JavaVMInitArgs vm_args.version = JNI_VERSION_1_4 finally it gives me an executable which calls the java function (how ever the required functionality is not got)
    To get the required functionality i had to use jdk1.6 so i changed the version property to JNI_VERSION_1_6 and the compiling command as gcc -g CallJMS.c -I $JAVA_HOME/include -I $JAVA_HOME/include/linux -L $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/i386/server -ljvm .This gave me an executable, but when i execute it is not able to find the java class file. I have kept both the java and c file in the same path and also set the CLASSPATH. Please help.

    Hi jschell,
    I got solution to this problem. As you said it is due to wrong CLASSPATH set .
    Before:
    JavaVMInitArgs vm_args;
    JavaVMOption options[3];
    options[0].optionString = "-Djava.class.path=.:/home/programs/JbossMetro/jboss-5.1.0.GA/server/default/deploy/JMSforCNew.war/WEB-INF/classes";
    options[1].optionString="-Djava.library.path=.:/home/program/jdk1.6.0_23/jre/lib/i386/server";
    options[2].optionString="-verbose:jni";
    vm_args.version = JNI_VERSION_1_6; //JDK version. This indicates version 1.6
    vm_args.nOptions = 3;
    vm_args.options = options;
    vm_args.ignoreUnrecognized = 0;
    int ret = JNI_CreateJavaVM(&jvm, (void**)&env, &vm_args);
    if(ret < 0)
    printf("\nUnable to Launch JVM\n");
    else
    printf("\nLaunched JVM\n");
    I was setting the CLASSPATH to the Path where my java class files were kept. When the JVM instance is created only this path (where my java class is residing) is identified and the JMS and other paths which was already set in the CLASSPATH environment variable is lost. Thus when i call the java class from the c program it is not able to find the dependent class files and it was aborting.
    After:
    Before setting the path where my class files are residing to CLASSPATH, get the path's in the CLASSPATH to a variable, append the path where my class files are kept to this variable and then set the CLASSPATH . Similarly do for the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. This works fine.
    char cpathBuff[100000];
    char ldpathBuff[4096];
    JNIEnv *env;
    JavaVMInitArgs vm_args;
    JavaVMOption options[3];
    cpath = (char*) getenv("CLASSPATH");
    sprintf(cpathBuff,"%s%s:%s","-Djava.class.path=",cpath,"/home/programs/JbossMetro/jboss-5.1.0.GA/server/default/deploy/JMSforCNew.war/WEB-INF/classes");
    options[0].optionString = cpathBuff;
    ldpath = (char *)getenv("LD_LIBRARY_PATH");
    sprintf(ldpathBuff,"%s%s:%s","-Djava.library.path=",ldpath,"/home/program/jdk1.6.0_23/jre/lib/i386/server");
    options[1].optionString = ldpathBuff;
    vm_args.version = JNI_VERSION_1_6; //JDK version. This indicates version 1.6
    vm_args.nOptions = 2;
    vm_args.options = options;
    vm_args.ignoreUnrecognized = 0;
    int ret = JNI_CreateJavaVM(&jvm, (void**)&env, &vm_args);
    if(ret < 0)
    printf("\nUnable to Launch JVM\n");
    else
    printf("\nLaunched JVM\n");
    Thanks for your support Peter and JSchell.

  • Rename a JPG, a PSD and a CR2 file having the same filename to a new same-filename

    Hello,
    The question is regarding my archives that I need to re-name.
    Say within a folder I have:
    IMG_4146.JPG
    IMG_4147.JPG
    IMG_4147.CR2
    IMG_4147.PSD
    IMG_4148.JPG
    IMG_4149.JPG
    I wish to rename the above as
    IMG_4146.JPG  becomes 2000.JPG
    IMG_4147.JPG  becomes 2001.JPG
    IMG_4147.CR2  becomes 2001.CR2
    IMG_4147.PSD  becomes 2001.PSD
    IMG_4148.JPG  becomes 2002.JPG
    IMG_4149.JPG  becomes 2003.JPG
    and so on..
    Basically, can I get Bridge to rename all files with the same filename but different extensions, to a new filename which is also the same. As of now I rename all the JPG files in a folder sequentially, and then manually change the filename of the CR2 and PSD files to match to the filename of their JPG versions.
    Note that every JPG does not have a corresponding CR2 and PSD. Hence I cannot use the sequential filename feature to rename the CR2 and PSD files.
    Hope I've been clear in explaining what I need. And many thanks in advance for any help

    Ah, I was in a bit of a rush this morning, the scipt should have decremented the number by 2146 in the filename.
    This should do the same but remove the characters before the numbers giving a numeric filename only...
    #target bridge
    var sels = app.document.selections;
    for(var a in sels){
    sels[a].spec.rename(sels[a].name.replace(/\d{4}/,sels[a].name.match(/(.{4})(\d{4})/)[2]-2146).replace(/^.{4}/,''));

  • Safari file attachments from same Finder Folder?

    Hello,
    I am attaching multiople files from the same folder to different emails using gmail. I do not use any email programs on my iMac. Everything is virtiual.  I don't want to  have go through all my file toggles to get to the folder I am working from every time, which is what I am doing.I want the computer to remember and default to that folder. How can I set this up?
    Thanks,
    Claire

    I have figured out that I can open the file folder in a different window and just drag in drop. This better. However, I would be interestred in being able to modify Finder settings for file management.

  • Batch processing: save processed file with same name to different location without moving the original

    Hi, I would like to denoise Voice Over files with help of Auditions Batch Process. However, I have to save the files with the same name as the original, so that I can simply relink them in Premiere. Since I do want to keep the originals, I would like to save the processed files to a different location.
    Unfortunately, Batch Processor adds " Copy" to the processed files and moves the originals along with the processed files to the new folder (causing Premiere to loose the original files).
    Can I achieve my goal with Batch Processor, and how would I have to configure it?
    Kind regards,
    Andreas

    Which version of Audition are you using? The latest ones allow you to specify where the batched files are saved and also if any Prefix or Postfix are added to the file name. These are all under Export Settings in the Batch Process pane. However you must have the Export box ticked to give you access to the settings.

  • Same BACS file number is generated for two different co cd

    Hi,
    We have made a BACS run on 26/06/2009 for company codes 1000, 1100,

    file generated is same.
    File path for 1000E run is /ERP/PR0/JCAPS/SCMI26/2009062612364801 &
    File path for 1500E run is /ERP/PR0/JCAPS/SCMI26/2009062612364801.
    Can any one let us know why has the system generated same file numbers for
    2 different runs. Request you to help us to know what has caused this
    problem.
    Thanks and Regards
    Srihari Bolla

    Hi,
    ARe you using program RFFOGB_T to create the DME files? If you are storing the files in the file system (looking at the path it seems that you are) then you have to provide a specific file name for each file, else the files will be overwritten. SO create a variant for program RFFOGB_T per company code and store the specific file names in the variants. Else store the files in Temse and then use the download function where a file name can be entered prior to saving the file on your workstation. Using Temse you can also manage the DME's through transaction FDTA.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can two users work on different files of the same project?

    Sorry if this has been asked already...but can two users work
    on different files of the same project? How would that work? Would
    it work something like this?
    1. From RoboHelp 7, user A checks out the entire project.
    2. User A checks in the files they are not working with.
    3. User B checks out the project but can only 'edit' the
    files that have been checked in by user A.
    Is this how the source control works?

    That's the basic idea. User A doesn't actually have to check
    out the whole project, though. RSC will selectively check out only
    the files that are actually getting changed. Both writers will have
    a complete copy of the project on their local machines, but the
    files are read-only until they are literally checked out, which is
    on an as-needed basis unless the writer explicitly checks them out.
