Reconstruct an ODS

If I make changes to the update rules of an ODS and then reconstruct a full update, will the new changes be reflected in the processing of data from comm structure to the final data target.

Yes , it will consider new changes to the update rules. Reconstruction does not work if you modify the transfer structure.Here you are doing changes to update rules only.So with out any problem you can use reconstruction.

    If we do the reconstruct then can we get the updated data in data load if its taking data from another datatarget in update rule?
    My problem is I am having one infocube which takes data from one of ODS1 and ODS1 it self get loaded another ODS2.There is a routine written in b/w of them.
    In ODS2 there is a field which is having lookup in another ODS ODS3.
    In the past when ODS3 get loaded i.e on 7th April ODS1 had some load issue for that few of the records were missing in Infocube.
    Now we would like to reconstruct the data in Infocube .
    My query is if i will do the reconstruct will it take the updated record from ODS3 or not.
    I know its bit complicated structure but please let me know if you need more info on this.

    Thanks for the reply but as i mentioned we need to do the reconstruct at ODS level.My question is how the reconstruct has happened.
    As i explained in this ODSA there is one field Equipment which is picking data from another ODSB.
    This equipment had blank value due to the fact that ODSA got loaded befor ODSB due to some load issue on 7th April and we missed the euiment detail for few of the nos.
    Now we would like to reconstruct that 7th April request in ODSA my question is while doing the reconstruct will it take the latest entry present in ODSB for equipment or not.

    I have small query.
    Scenario: We have an ODS getting delta data from R/3 and this ODS is feeding a cube in delta mode.Some of the records are missing in BW.
    We identified the records to be loaded again.
    How can we do this missing data load from R/3 to ODS to cube??

    How do you proceed if you want to load a repair request into the data target?  Go to the maintenance screen of the InfoPackage (Scheduler), set the type of data upload to "Full", and select the "Scheduler" option in the menu -> Full Request Repair -> Flag request as repair request -> Confirm. Update the data into the PSA and then check that it is correct. If the data is correct, continue to update into the data targets.

  • Re Init because descrepancy in data from R/3 to BW

    Due to discrepancy in data I need to re run the init from 2LIS_11_VAITM. Daily deltas are loading in to the cube.
    I have data in the Cube for the last 3 months. It is about 5 million records. I have notified the Key users and I have a down time between 6.00pm and 3.00 in the morning.
    The data flows from 2LIS_11_VAITM to ODS and then to Cube..
    Please give me step by steps.. Do I need to do directly in Production or through development..

    Ans: You can find the option in the InfoPackage. Open up the InfoPackage and press ShiftCtrlF1 or from the menu Scheduler > Repair Full request. You need to check in the box and it will be done.
    You can go in for a repair full request when you have missed any delta loads or there are data corruption issues. By doing a full repair load, you can ensure that your data is correct and has good integrity.
    With this option you can continue to use your existing delta and not worry about resetting the delta.
    But make sure that the ODS is in overwrite mode and not additive. If its additive then you will face the problem of having duplicate data. If this is the case then you have to delete all the contents and then do the full repair request.
    Say if your current scenario has init/delta setup to your ODS.
    And for some reason you have to do a full load because you missed some data or you have to load some historic data.
    Then if you do a full load to ODS then the request will be loaded but do not get activated as full load to ODS once the delta/ init is setup.
    So in these scenarios you'll have to go for repair full request option when loading to ODS.
    You'll have the same option when loading to CUBE but in cube it doesn't matter as it is possible to do a full load even we had delta/init.
    So doing repair full will not disturb your Delta mechanism in your ODS.

    Another Scenario where we use Repair Full Request
    If your data load is delta and now if you are planning to run Full load, then you can go for Repair full request.
    Eg: If you have missed data for 3 days and next delta loads are running successfully, in this case if you want to fill data for only particular 3 days, than you can run the statistical setup for that particular data source for 3 days and load it as a full load through repair request.
    It is particularly used in the upload of data into the ODS ,if the ODS has already Delta loads.
    This is required if want to upload any full uploads(with selection at infopackage or without) to be done to ODS, because ODS does not allow to activate the simple Full uploads if there are delta loads to it.
    But make sure that check the option "indicate request as repair" in the Scheduler before you start the IP.

    Full repair can be said as a Full with selections. But the main use or advantage of Full repair load is that it wont affect delta loads in the system. If you load a full to a target with deltas running you again will have to initialize them for deltas to continue. But if you do full repair it wont affect deltas.
    This is normally done we when we lose some data or there is data mismatch between source system and BW.

Update the data into the PSA and then check that it is correct. If the data is correct, continue to update into the data targets."

    There may be a number of reasons for this problem: Errors in the relevant application, errors in the user exit, errors in the DeltaQueue, handling errors in the customers posting procedure (for example, a change in the extract structure during production operation if the DeltaQueue was not yet empty; postings before the Delta Init was completed, and so on), extractor errors, unplanned system terminations in BW and in R/3, and so on.
    Solution
    Read this note in full BEFORE you start actions that may repair your data in BW. Contact SAP Support for help with troubleshooting before you start to repair data.
    BW offers you the option of a full upload in the form of a repair request (as of BW 3.0B). If you want to use this function, we recommend that you use the ODS object layer.
    Note that you should only use this procedure if you have a small number of incorrect or missing records. Otherwise, we always recommend a reinitialization (possibly after a previous selective deletion, followed by a restriction of the Delta-Init selection to exclude areas that were not changed in the meantime).
    1. Repair request: Definition
    If you flag a request as a repair request with full update as the update mode, it can be updated to all data targets, even if these already contain data from delta initialization runs for this DataSource/source system combination. This means that a repair request can be updated into all ODS objects at any time without a check being performed. The system supports loading by repair request into an ODS object without a check being performed for overlapping data or for the sequence of the requests. This action may therefore result in duplicate data and must thus be prepared very carefully.
    The repair request (of the "Full Upload" type) can be loaded into the same ODS object in which the 'normal' delta requests run. You will find this request under the "Repair Request" option in the InfoPackage (Maintenance) menu.
    2. Prerequisites for using the "Repair Request" function
    2.1. Troubleshooting
    Before you start the repair action, you should carry out a thorough analysis of the possible cause of the error to make sure that the error cannot recur when you execute the repair action. For example, if a key figure has already been updated incorrectly in the OLTP system, it will not change after a reload into BW. Use transaction RSA3 (Extractor Checker) in the source system for help with troubleshooting. Another possible source of the problem may be your user exit. To ensure that the user exit is correct, first load a user exit with a Probe-Full request into the PSA table and check whether the data is correct. If it is not correct: Search for the error in the exit user. If you do not find it, we recommend that you deactivate the user exit for testing purposes and request a new Full Upload. It If the data arrives correctly, it is highly probable that the error is indeed in the user exit.
    We always recommend that you load the data into the PSA table in the first step and check the result there.
    2.2. Analyze the effects on the downstream targets
    Before you start the Repair request into the ODS object, make sure that the incorrect data records are selectively deleted from the ODS object. However, before you decide on selective deletion, you should read the Info Help for the "Selective Deletion" function, which you can access by pressing the extra button on the relevant dialog box. The activation queue and the ChangeLog remain unchanged during the selective deletion of the data from the ODS object, which means that the incorrect data is still in the change log afterwards. After the selective deletion, you therefore must not reconstruct the ODS object if it is reconstructed from the ChangeLog. (Reconstruction is usually from the PSA table but, if the data source is the ODS object itself, the ODS object is reconstructed from its ChangeLog).     Instead of doing of all these all steps.. cant I reload that failed request again??
    If some goes wrong with delta loads...it is always better to do re-init...I mean dlete init flag...full repair..all those steps....If it is an infocube you can go for full update also instead of full repair...
    Full Upload:
    In full upload all the data records are fetched....It is similar to full repair..Incase of infocube to recover missed delta records..we can run full upload.....but in case of ODS  does'nt support full upload and delta upload parallely...so inthis case you have to go for full repair...otherwise delta mechanism will get corrupted...
    Suppose your ODS activation is failing since there is a Full upload request in the target.......then you can convert full upload to full repair using the program : RSSM_SET_REPAIR _ FULL_FLAG

  • Short dump while reconstructing request in ODS

    Hi
    I had loaded a request into a few ODS, but later found i had to do some changes to the PSA manually, so i deleted the request from all the ODS and modified the records in the PSA.
    Now when i try reconstruction it gives a short dump in one of the ODS with message  "Exception condition "NOT_EXIST" raised. ".
    Data from this ODS was further loaded to a few other targets as delta and while deleting the request it gave a message saying the delta will be deactivated, I said Ok and the request was deleted.
    I was able to reconstruct the request in all the other ODS and cubes without any issues. 
    what could be the problem???

    I am doing PSA to ODS. The data is available in PSA. the reconstruction went thru fine in the other targets. but when i try it in the ODS that i want it goes for a dump. This is where the error occurs.. shown in the dump..

    Sometimes when i delete a request in ODS, it can be found in reconstruction tab. Sometimes you cant.
    In which scenario it can be found and in which it cant. In case you need that deleted request to reconstruct and you cant find it in reconstruct tab, what you do.

    Whenever u delete a request from ODS,it might be seen in "Reconstruction" tab only when it still exists in PSA.Once the request gets deleted from PSA,then it wont be seen in
    "Reconstruction"  tab.

  • ODS Reconstruction Problem

    I have an ODS, that had 5 requests in the "Requests" tab on the Manage Data Target Screen.   There are also these 5 requests on the "Reconstruction" tab and these requests are also in the PSA.  (Data is in the PSA and it only goes to this ODS).
    Also, in between the last request and the next to the last request, the Datasource was changed.  A new field was added.  The last request successfully processed.
    I deleted these 5 requests in the ODS and now want to repopulate them from the PSA, i.e. the Reconstruction tab. 
    However when I select the one of the requests on the reconstruction tab and press the Reconstruct/Insert button, a BI_BOOK* job is submitted as expected but it cancels.  It cancels because this statement in program SAPLRSSM, screen 0450, failed to return any rows:

    My next step was to look at the PSA.  I still see the 5 requests there.  However the icon on the left most of each request has a little red triangle with a white ! (I wish I had a clue as to what all these icons mean)
    My next action was that I right clicked on the oldest request in the PSA and select "Start the Update immediately".  This too submits a BI_BOOK* job which terminates, again for the same reason as from the reconstruct tab on the ODS.
    Additional information...  I looked at the PSA for this Infosource.  It has the new field that was added.
    If anyone can offer suggestions on how to repopulate this ODS, it would be most appreciated.

    Thanks for the info.  I checked the data in the PSA table.  The 5 requests are in there and the table definition has the new field that was added.  As such I still dont understand why the reconstruct/insert fails.
    Can you or anyone else offer any advice?
    Special Note: I searched OSS on the subject.  Apparently in pre 3.5 versions there were problems in the reconstruction/insert if the ODS was a source for an Open Hub destination, which this is.  However this note does not apply to our version of BW.  Nonetheless I reset the deltas in the open hub.  However the problem still exists.

  • Delta load from ODS to cube failed - Data mismatch

    Hi all
    We have a scenario where the data flow is like
    R/3 table - >dataSrc -- > pSA - >InfoSrc -> ODS ->Cube.
    The cube has an additional field called "monthly version"
    and since it is a history cube , it is supposed to hold data
    snapshots of the all data in current cube for each month .
    We are facing the problem that the Data for the current month
    is there in the history ODS but not in the cube . In the ODS ->Manage->requests
    tab i can see only 1 red request that too with 0 recs.
    However ,In the cube -> manage-> reconstruction tab , i can see 2 Red request
    with the current month date. Could these red requests be the reason for
    data mismatch in ODS and cube .
    Please guide as to how can i solve this problem .

  • Get back the Data mart status in ODS and activate the delta update.

    I got a problem when deleting the requests in ODS.
    actually there is Cube(1st level. it gets loaded from an ODS(2nd level). this gets loaded from 3 ODS'S( 3rd level). we were willing to delete recents requests from all the data tardets and reload from PSA. but while delting in the request in ODS(2nd level), it has displayed a window, showing as follows.
    - the request 132185 already retrived by the data target BP4CLT612.
    -Delta update in BP4CLT612 must be deactivated before deleting the request.
    - Do you want to deactivate the delta update in data target BP4CLT612.
       I have clicked on execute changes in the window. it has removed the data mart status for all the request which i have not deleted.
    in the same it happened inthe 3 ODS's(3rd level).
    I got clear that if we load further data from source system. it will load all the records from starting.
    so to avoid this can any body help me how to reset the Data mart status and activate the delta update.

    U have to make the requests RED in cube and back them out from cube,before u can go for request deletions from the base targets(from which cube gets data).
    Then u have to reset data mart status for the requests in your 'L2 ODS' before u can delete requests from ODS.
    Here I think u tried to delete without resetting data mart status which has upset the delta sequence.
    To correct this..
    To L2 ODS,do an init without data transfer from below 3 ODS's after removing init request from scheduler menu in init infopackage.
    Do similar from L2 ODS to Cube.
    then reconstruct the deleted request in ODS.It will not show the tick mark in ODS.Do delta load from ODS to Cube.

  • Data mart status has beed reset by del the in between req in source ODS

    Hi SDN,
    We have a situation where in which there is a daily delta laod going from ODS to Cube and we have reset data mart status accidentally by deleting the request which is in between multiple number of requests in the source ODS, now when we deleted the requests in ODS we got a POP asking for 'do you want to delete the data in cube' we went with on that POP up, after that when we see in the manage of the source ODS the datamart status is not seen for all the requests that have been loaded to target cube. Then we have reconstructed the data for the deleted request from the PSA.
    Next day when a new laod comes into ODS then will the ODS send the correct delta update to target Cube.
    If correct delta is not updated to cube is there any method that we can follow to maintain the data consistency with out deleting the data in the target cube.

    You dekleted Data in Cube and loaded,but Ddata Mart is not appearing in ODS. So if you have all data in ODS, delete data in Cube and then just delete datamart layer in ODS and right click and click on Update data in DataTarget, then fresh request will update to Cub , this is Init only then Deltas will go from net day onwards.

  • Unable to delete requests from ODS

    Hi Experts,
    I am trying to delete requests fwhich is having some added records rom an ODS. I changed the status of QM to RED and in the monitor screen as well. Now, when I try to select the request and delete, a trash can appears and after hitting the refresh button the reportinng availability appears against the request.
    I deleted the entries in the change log table...then I was able to delete the request from the ODS. Now when I try to reconstruct those deleted requests from the Reconstruct tab by changing the QM status in the monitor to green, the status of these request are in Yellow and there are updated records but the added records are 0. When I try to change the QM status it give s message "Request is already (partially) activated, no further QM action is possible.
    How do I change the request QM status to Green and the get all the added records as there were in previous instead of 0's with out reloading the ods from r/3.

             This error may be  RSMPC141 error.
    Please see Note 643880 and Note 849857
    this may occur  becos of loss f records in change log.
    You will need to reload to fix this problem
