Record a user join a Lync 2010 conference by PSTN

Hello, I remember seeing a post stating that the recording of calls from users joining A Lync Conference are not available to be recorded. Can anyone confirm this and point
me in the direction of the article/post?
Reword. If a user joins a Lync Conference from PSTN can their call be recorded?

If a user join a Lync conference from PSTN the call can be recorded, in the meeting recording.
If you want to record Lync to PSTN calls, you can use the workaround listed in the following blog:
http://windowspbx.blogspot.com/2012/05/lync-user-tip-20-how-to-record-lync-to.html

  • Lync 2010 Public Meetings pstn not bypassing lobby

I have set the meeting configuration to public meetings and enabled bypass lobby however this seems to only be working with private meetings. Is there a way to configure public meetings with bypass lobby for pstn callers?

    Hi,
Did you try to change the setting by the parameter PstnCallersBypassLobby in Lync Meeting Configuration?
The parameter Indicates whether users dialing in over a public switched telephone network (PSTN) phone line should automatically be admitted to a meeting. If set to True PSTN callers will automatically be admitted to the meeting. If set to False PSTN callers
will initially be routed to the conference lobby. At that point, they will be put on hold until a conference presenter grants them access to the meeting. The default value is True. So make sure the value to be
    True.

    Hi,
Did the issue both happen internal and external the domain?
Please check if there is any error message on FE Server.
As the issue only happen for several users, please double check if there is any client/conference policy to deny these Lync users to join the Lync Meeting.

there was DBIMPEXP.exe tool but this tool not exist in lync 2013
i took a backup for all users but how can i restored them to new client
the backup file on lync 2010 is "xml"
and in the lync 2013 is "zip"
     thank you all

    Please check the following blog.

Lync Server 2013 Preview has deprecated the use of DBIMPEXP.exe.
There are now native Lync Mangement Server cmdlets to provide the equivalent.
You can use the command convert-csuserdata to convert between a 2010 XML file provided from DBIMPEXP.exe and a ZIP file provided from Export-CSUserData.

  • Call Pickup - Users experience One Way Audio when using Call Pickup Orbit to pickup internal calls with internal Lync 2010 Callers

    Hi
Noticed an issue where when using Call Park Function with users you receive one way audio when answering the call
    The scenario is
    1) If a user is internal and is homed on Lync 2010 Pool and calls an internal user who is homed on a Lync 2013 Pool and another internal user homed on a Lync 2013 Pool picks up the call with Call Pick Up orbit, Lync 2010 users only hears one way audio and
same for user who has picked up call
    2) If the scenario is an External PSTN call or another Lync 2013 user these calls are fine
In Lync Tracing logs a SIP/2.0 481 Call Leg/Transaction Does Not Exist error is returned
Is this a known bug or expected behavior - Call Pickup is basically useless until all users are migrated to Lync 2013 as there is no way of a user knowing whether call is internal or external and if the user is on Lync 2010 or 2013, obviously in my
large organization 2000 users no an overnight thing
Coupled with the fact no Team Call Group\ Simultaneous Ring can be in place for Call Pickup to work im thinking Call Pick Up is not going to happen for awhile
Is there any fixes\ developments that may help this issue or is there a setting I am missing

    Hi,
Please install latest update for Lync Server 2010 and 2013.

  • When joining a Lync dial-in conference the name recording is not working for participants

When our participants join a Lync conference via dial-in they are prompted with "After the tone please record your name then press pound." But then immediately the conference attendant says "You're now joining the meeting as an unknown participant."
The system is not allowing time for a recording at all.
I checked Get-CsDialinConferencingConfiguration and the output originally showed:
    Identity                               : Global
    EntryExitAnnouncementsType             : UseNames
    EnableNameRecording                    : True
    EntryExitAnnouncementsEnabledByDefault : False
For troubleshooting I turned off name recording to see what would happen and also changed entry announcement to tone only but there is no change what so ever. The attendant still asks for a recording and doesn't allow any time to actually record.
    Jacen

    Hi,
Please try to change the value of "EntryExitAnnouncementsEnabledByDefault" to True. and then test again.
Please also make sure Lync Server update to the latest version.

  • Lync Server 2010 conference not working with Windows 8.1 and IE 10

    Hello,
The problem is that whenever a Windows 8.1 user tries to join a Lync server 2010 conference using Internet Explorer 10 (or 11, tried that too) the user can't join the conference. If the conference is created by a Lync server 2013 user joining works fine.
When using Lync 2010 client we get the following error in the client: "error id 87 source id 7".
When using Lync 2013 client we end up with a blank conversation window.
There are no traces in server log, client log or event log.
Below is a set of use cases that may help you to understand what is the problem scenario. Each of these works or does not work with both Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 client.
    - Lync server 2010 conference, windows 7, Chrome, Firefox, IE 10 or 11 --> Works.
    - Lync server 2010 conference, windows 8.1, IE 10 or 11 --> Does not work.
    - Lync server 2010 conference, windows 8.1, Chrome or Firefox --> Works.
    - Lync server 2013 conference, windows 8.1, Chrome, Firefox, IE 10 or 11 --> Works.
It does not help to add the meet address to IE compatibility list (Compatibility View Settings).
If i press F12 in IE and change the document mode of the meet page to IE 9 version then i can join meetings with Windows 8.1 and IE 10. Unfortunately i cannot make that as a default setting for the meet website.
Any ideas on how to get Lync server 2010 meetings working with Windows 8.1 and IE 10 or 11?
IE is the company default browser. Windows 8.1 is not a default operating system but we have increasing number of Windows 8.1 computers in our environment (mainly directors).

According to your description, it is hard to tell whether the issue is related with IE or Lync Server 2010 or both.
Compare the log when Lync client on Window 8.1 with IE 10 or IE 11 join Lync server 2010 conferencing and Lync Server 2013 conferencing.

  • Lync 2010/2013 - Call Recording with PSTN

I am trying to find out more information about how larger companies use Lync while still recording calls to and from the PSTN. We have a huge need to be able to record specific (not all) calls in an on-demand fashion from the Lync client.
Lync seems to have some strange limitations with what it lets you record.
My issue is that Lync doesn't present options for recording calls to the PSTN unless you convert the call into a conference using some creative "tricks". Has anyone found a better way of doing this so that the user can just select record?  It seems
extremely counter productive to say "hey here's our unified product", but if you need this really basic feature of a phone system you need a third party product. None of the third party products I've looked at actually integrate with Lync
in a way that the user just clicks record or some other option.
This is a major limitation of Lync for us and it is really holding up our ability to adopt Microsoft Lync. Does anyone have some good guidance on the best way to do PSTN recording with the Lync client?

    Hi,Shaddie,
Yes,Lync doesn't support PSTN call except in a conferencing call,peer-to-peer call recording only works between Lync clients, and if someone call you via PSTN the call recording will not work, check the following links to have a workaround.

  • Lync 2010 client and SRV record

When Lync 2010 was originally set up in our environment, we included our login domain which is a .local as a SIP domain but everyone uses our additional SIP domain which is a .org.
In our internal DNS, we have SRV records under both domains. Question is if a Lync 2010 client is doing autodiscover and their SIP domain is the .org, will the client look at the SRV record in the .local domain? I don't think this SRV record was ever used
even though its the users login domain, its not their SIP domain.

You're right, the SRV records that belongs to your .local domain are not used by the lync client for a user that hs a .org sip domain sign-in address, so as you are saying if all the users are configured with a .org sip domain that means these SRV records
were never used, and you can safely remove them.

  • Users still able to sign into Lync 2010 even though their Lync accounts are disabled

I have 2 users who are still able to sign into Lync 2010 even though I disabled their Lync accounts. They no longer show up in the Lync console or when you use get-csuser. Their Lync account were associated somehow with their AD accounts in an old domain
that we just decommissioned. I wanted to delete Lync accounts and recreate to see if that fixed their issue. After deleting the Lync account, they are still able to login. So, I guess I need to edit the Lync database to get rid of them and start fresh?.

    Hi Winterthur,
    Agree with Tek-Nerd,
this user certificate is valid for a period of 180 days, and is automatically renewed one month prior to expiration regardless of whether the user is connected internally or externally.
Jeff Guillet’s article Disabling a User in AD Does Not Disable the User in Lync provides
a good background about revoking this certificate and properly disabling the user from accessing Lync services when their Active Directory user account is disabled.

  • Lync Contacts not appearing in Lync 2010 after user is moved to Lync 2013

    Good Morning,
Our company recently migrated all of our users to Lync 2013 from Lync 2010.   Most of our clients are still running the Lync 2010 client on their workstations.  There is an ongoing project where we are upgrading to Office 2013 as well.
When a user signs into Lync, clicks on their contacts, the list is blank. They see their frequent contacts and are able to search for people.   Some people are able to manage their contacts through OWA 2013 since we have the integration in
place. If they try to add contacts in Lync, they receive the message:
Cannot Add, Remove or move contacts or groups at this time. Please try again later.
I have tried going into the %appdata%\Microsoft\communicator directory and deleting the .cache and .idx and opening Lync again and still they do not appear.
Found this article:  https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2757458?wa=wsignin1.0, but we cannot role people back to Lync 2010.  So they will just have to live with it until they receive Lync 2013 and  use OWA 2013 to manage them until their office
    client is upgraded.

    Hi BrianDougherty,
I’m not sure whether this is caused by UCS, but you can test it by disabling UCS for a test user.
Run the following command and then check the result.
    New-CsUserServicesPolicy -Identity NoUCS -UcsAllowed $False
Grant-CsUserServicesPolicy –Identity “test user” –PolicyName NoUCS
    Invoke-CsUcsRollback –Identity “test user”

  • Lync 2010 phone not available when users have two Directory Number Associations in CUCM

    Hello everyone,
We currently have a little issue with our LYNC 2010 to Cisco UC Integration (CUCM 8.5.1), I’m wondering if someone can shed some light please.
There are some users in our organisation having two Directory Number Associations in CUCM (Primary Extension for work number and IPCC Extension for team number), which result them not be able to dial out from Lync. For these users, it appears the Cisco phone
    is not available in Lync.
I tried to disable the team number from them, and after reboot, the Cisco phone came back available and dialing out from Lync was enabled.
Is there any workaround for this issue? Thank you in advance.
    Shawn

As far as Lync concern lync only do a number translation and send the call to cisco for reaching the destination. So you have to check how the call split is configured for users with respect to the team number and Extension. So in this case you need to have
2 different dial pattern to cisco based on how they accept the calls.
One pattern will translate the Primary extension number to the format cisco accept
Second pattern to translate the Team extension number to the format cisco accept.

    1. User creates an Online Meeting

    3. When trying to join without Lync client (or forcing it with "?sl=") an error is received:
The meeting link you are using to join is not valid. Please check the link and try again.
I've tried it with the lates Chrome and IE versions.
    Any ideas?
EDIT: Seems to work with older IE browsers...

    Hi,
From your description above, it is the issue of the wrong suffix "?sl=". The correct suffix is "?sl=1". Please test if with the correct suffix and check if the issue happen again or not.
