Record Clips Gone

I had over an hour worth of clips recorded and now they are all missing except one under history. I recorded using waveform..... Please help. I am new at this and don't see any information on this under Adobe help or in forums.

I think that you need to read the help files, especially the introduction, carefully and learn about storing files after you've recorded them. We can't reaaly help you very much further than that, because you haven't given us a single clue to work from, and on top of that you are describing what's happened in a way that we can't necessarily make sense of. That's not a criticism - you've admitted that you are new at this, so it's to be expected.
Initially you have to understand that it's files you record and save, not clips. If you've recorded something and the system thinks that you haven't saved it, it will warn you about this. Did you recieve any warnings at all about unsaved files?

Missing recording clip - PLEASE HELP!

Recording some speech clips in GB and went back to them this am to find them missing... I did discover that if I move the clips back and forth through the track, they shorten (cutting off) other clips that take up the same space... So if I slid a recorded clip over too far, and it covered over my previous clip is it gone forever?
I'm working on a senior project and it's due tomorrow and now I'm missing audio

I wish that didn't happen. I would think that if you slide a clip over, it might push the other clips along with it, or hide it underneath or something to prevent loss of data...

With Muti-clip gone from FCP X, is there a new way to sync two cameras with FCP X

I film with two cameras then copy the files from each camera into their own folders. I then use ClipWrap to convert the MTS files into AIC. If the recording was one long contiguous session, many cameras will split the MTS files into 2GB chunks. ClipWrap will Convert Multiple to Span to reassemble them properly. With the AIC .MOV file from ClipWrap, I then use FCP X to Import the MOV files from camera 1 and camera 2. I prefer to do it that way versus using FCP X Import from Camera. I then move the clip from camera 1 onto the timeline in the "primary storyline" (FCP X terminology). I drag the camera 2 clip above the camera 1 clip and line up the audio from the two cameras while that audio is still attached to the video so everything stays in sync. FCP X has a way to automatically sync two soundtracks, but I have not gotten around to that yet. With camera 2's clip attached to camera 1's clip as a "connected clip" above the camera 1 video, I then do an edit to go between the cameras as seems best to me. When the connected clip of camera 2 video sits above the camera 1 video, it will take priority over the camera 1 video. I then split camera 1's video clip taking out sections when I want to go back to the camera 1 view. Of course I can trim camera 2's clips until I get it the way I want it. Since FCP X uses the magnetic timeline concept, and camera 2's clip is "connected" to the camera 1 clip, as you split and trim camera 2's clip, everything will stay in sync across the two camera "tracks". When there is no camera 2 video above the camera 1 video, camera 1 video will be seen. When camera 2 video is above camera 1 video, camera 2 video will be seen instead. With a single editing pass, I can then do all the editing I need to go back and forth between two cameras. The same concept is expandable to other camera "tracks" as long as you are using vertical position in the timeline to determine which camera is seen when. If you would like for it to look like a multi-camera track composit like before FCP X, you can simply select all your clips and make a compound clip out of it. You will then see the multiple camera clips side by side in a single "track". Double click on that "clip" in that "track" to go into the structure and editing individual "tracks" around if needed. Think of a compound track as what a sequence used to do. Anyway, there may be other, and easier ways to do this, but with a single edit through my recording, I can easily and visually cycle back and forth between camera views. It's just that things are called differently now ... and, as of this time, we do not have a single button camera switching function to let us view multiple cameras simultaneously and switch between them using a keystroke for each camera. Still, I have a way to do it, and it has worked very well for me, in fact I was pleasantly surprised at how easily I could do multi-camera in post. Hope this at least gives you one option. Others may have a better way. Best wishes.

Capture on the fly dropped frame aborted capture - clip gone forever???

I foolishly set up my Macbook pro to capture the video feed live from an HVX200 camera via firewire... THE clutch interview for a client... Lo: what happens but halfway through the interview, capture aborts and error message reads "capture aborted due to dropped frames".
It's an investigative journalism project, with a hostile interview subject, so no do-overs possible.
Clip not showing up in capture scratch or anywhere else.
My question is: has anyone had any luck rescuing an incomplete clip like this? The hard drive was churning, doing computerlike things, writing, so the information is there somewhere. It's just that the "pointers" or "handles" of the clip are gone. I know with IBM/Avid there's an attic where you can get to weird and/or incomplete files - is there anything like that with MAC/Final cut? Or is this setup "all or nothing"?
Maybe someone knows about a program that can recover incomplete data, good for MAC?
I know, shame on me for capturing straight to computer - I'll never do that again.

Nope. The file failed to complete...QT/FCP didn't get a chance to write the end code for the clip, so it is unusable.

The ATTIC in Avid terms is the same as AUTOSAVE in FCP...it saves a backup of the project bins, not the media. Not sure about the IBM attic...
I don't know of anyone having luck recovering a file that has been aborted like this. And this happens to more people that we'd like to see. Capturing one-of-a-time events straight to computer with no backup. Bombout.

Using Adobe Premiere elements 12. Added sound narration. Now Sound from video recording (Audio 1) gone. Sound bar is there and nothing is turned down. Simply not audible

This is a particular disturbing audio/Narration Tool narration problem that does not affect all, but the numbers of reports of its
happening seem to be increasing. If you have not already, please update from Premiere Elements 12 to 12.1. I do not believe that
to be the answer to this particular issue but it will help you with any Expert workspace Text Style issues at least.

You know for the app, nettalk? if i restore my ipod, would the records be gone?

bcause everytime i sync my ipod, it says error 13019. i tried to unsync all of the tabs already but its not working. so might as well restore it. but i dont want the records from my nettalk to be deleted. will it be?

If you restore from backup, the iPod will be like it was when the backup was made. A restore to factory defaults/new iPod results in everything being gone.

Is it possible to view meta data settings on a recorded clip?

I have the Vixia HF G30 and am wondering if the aperture value and the shutter speed information is stored somewhere. I don't see this information when I load the clip into Finalcut X or when it's still in the recorder.

I guess, that leaves us no choice but to use the browser on your laptop. Perhaps another gadget you have in there aside from Nintendo? Are you using Opera browser on your Nintendo? Check DSiWare to download another type of browser of some sort.
I just noticed, mine is http://192.168.1.1/Filters.asp while yours is .htm. Is there any difference? I'm not that good when it comes to that.

Stream recorded clips as psedo-live for online tv channel

Hey all - I'm really new to flash server (as in hours), and I'm hoping there's a way to do this in server 3.5 without too much trouble...
I'm looking to setup a tv channel type stream where I can create a server side playlist that can stream out prerecorded FLV's at specific times, so all clients are viewing the stream as if its a live video channel. Certain clips need to play at specific times, etc. It says in the server docs that "Flash Media Server allows you to create a mixture of live and recorded streams and play them in a preprogrammed sequence as one stream using server-side playlists"
I can think of ways to implement this with some clever client scripting, but it seems the server has support for this. But I can't figure out how to do it, there's not much info in the Developer Guide about server side playlists. Maybe I'm missing something. It seems like a common feature people would want.

Thanks guys, I'm just making sure I wasn't missing something.. sure would be nice to be able to schedule playlists so people could run their own pseudo-tv channels... I can totally do this client side (I am an as3 programmer), but would have been a lot nicer/easier if the server had capability for this. I'll certainly request it - thanks for the feature request link!

Premiere elements 13 sound of import clip gone after importing?

The sound of the clips I load into premiere elements (13) is all of a sudden gone. For all the clips I uploaded earlier I had no problem. Is there maybe a setting I changed without knowing?

What are the properties of these clips that you are importing - what is the difference between the earlier imported clips and these latest one?
Same camera, same settings, same everything?

Nokia N8 strange noise in recorded clips

Hi guys,
I'm not sure if this topic is for this subforum but if it's not please move it to the place.
And now the problem.Last night I recorded some clips on a concert and to my surprise when I played the clips at home there was some strange noise in them(which is not constant but just watch the video bellow and you'll get what I mean).I'm not completely sure why is that happening.But this is the first phone I hear it on.Maybe this has to do something with the noise canceling microfone freaking out.Or the mics are just way too sensitive and all the noise is too much for them to handle.Sadly enough there is no option to turn down the sensitivity or the noise canceling function.Here is an example of what I mean

You can hear the same noise on it. It's clipping caused by high sound pressure overwhelming the microphones. Here is the same song I recorded at the same time on a digital recorder with better mics.

I think the N8 is the best video recorder outside DVR devices that I have come across so far.
I actually came here tonight to ask if anyoine knew the best [and cheapest] software to use to strip the audio and re dub my own audio onto the video.
But for now the answer to your question based on my experience is ;
The N8 is about as good as it gets in a phone,
the problem is the microphone, and
the microphones are very good for a phone.

Where has "Duplicate Project + Used Clips" gone in 10.2 ?

I want to backup my project and all the media it uses to an external hard drive.
In 10.1 I could use, Duplicate Project + Used Clips , but where is that in 10.2?

I'm assuming you mean 10.1.2, not 10.0.2. For the recent version, connect the external drive. Make a new library on it and set the library properties to be managed media, so the media in inside the library. Drag the project from the existing event on your drive to the event on the external drive, that will copy the project and the used media to that event. You'll also have the option to copy render and optimized media. I'd forget about that. Mail the drive and your colleague should be good to go.

Maintaining length of originally recorded clips

I was pretty good with iMovie 6 and my miniDV camcorder, but now am working with a Canon HF11 HD camera (flash memory) and iMovie 7.1.4 and it is like starting over again. Sorry to ask what is probably a very basic question, but thanks in advance for any advice!
When I imported into iMovie 6, it retained the original length of my clips. However, when I import in iMovie '08, it seems to "split" the long clips. For example, I shot a gymnastics routine of about 1 minute, but after import it appears as many different pictures in the library (and project after dragging it in). I can select the clip and it highlights all the different frames. It would be more convenient (less clutter in the project window) to have fewer frames. Is it possible to do this? Thanks, Jeff

There is a slider in the Events pane which lets you set the length of each thumbnail at everything between 1/2 second and 30 seconds. You can also pick 1 thumbnail per clip. I prefer five seconds myself, because it facilitates editing. You can do the same with your Project pane if you want.

Where have my recorded videos gone from my ipad.

Hi can anyone help me, I recorded several family videos and they have just disappeared from my ipad! I have looked everywhere I can think of.

Videos taken on the iPad should show up in:
Photos > collections (look for the date)
Albums > Camera Roll and Videos
Under Shared if you actually shared them through iCloud.
If they are not showing up in any of those, it is likely they were inadvertently deleted.

What is the most efficient way to record a educational workshop training on my iPad and then upload it to either Schoology or a Teacher Tube channel? We would need to record clips anywhere from 10 min to 45 minutes and organize them in such a way?

Any help will be appreciated. We have a training comming up next week and seeking to find out if there are any new technologies that I could utilize and model for this workshop.

What many people do is use one of the solutions that allow you to mirror from an iOS device to a computer:

X-Mirage: http://www.x-mirage.com/x-mirage/
and then use screen capture software on the computer to capture the iPad's display. The other option is to use a document camera or video camera to record the iPad. Questions about uploading to the references sites would be issue best addressed with those sites or in their forums.

HELP - Where has my record tab gone??!!!!

I switched my BT Vision box on this morning and my record tab has disappeared! I have restarted hub, switched it off etc.. still nothing.
In addition, it is now saying that programmes and music are chargable?!
I called the helpdesk this morning and the level of customer service ...or lack of it is SHOCKING. Transferred 4 times all saying it's not their dept with the 4th and final person giving me another freephone number to call ! BT staff do lengthy DPA checks then not very helpful.
I've been with BT Vision for two years and this could be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

It might be an idea to unplug your vision box have a coffee and plug it back in afterwards.
