Record drive/partition "500G Ext HD Western Digital" not found!

I don't know why I'm getting this message when I open any songs I've recorded in Logic Express. It just started doing this today. Here is the message:{Record drive/partition “500G Ext HD Western Digital” not found!}
I do not get this message when I open and work on songs I've recorded in Garageband.
The 500G Ext HD is my external hard drive.
Does anyone know what this means and how I can resolve it and get back to recording music??

Does the disk appear OK on your desktop?
When exactly do you get this message? When you double-click on a Logic file on your external drive? Or when you start a new project? Is your record path set properly in Logic?
First, as you may be nearing a hard disk problem, make sure that all essential files are backed up properly.
Then, open up your Disk Utility and run 'Verify Disk' and 'Repair permissions' on your external drive. If you have a copy of Disk warrior, even better.

  • Record Drive/Partition not found

I am getting this message when trying to arm a track for recording :
    Record drive/partition “es/Audio 1/Tom and Dirk/My Own Sweet Time/Audio Files/Audio Recording” not found!
Any ideas? I was recording a take just fine and wanted to record a second take and got the above message. It does it when I create and arm another track for recording. I tried restarting the session, restarting Logic, rebooting the machine, repairing permissions all to no avail. What is going on?

This is a BUG!!! A big one at that.
I know 3 other Logic 8 users experiencing this.
I do not know what causes it, although it may happen after you delete an audio region, like discarding a take.
The "es/Audio 1/ etc... should say "Volumes/Audio 1/ etc... I've gotten "olumes/Audio 1/etc... and even had it read the exact name of the Audio path "Volumes/Audio 1/etc...
However, if you had simply hit the "O.K." button, Logic would have taken you directly inside the proper Audio Files folder, where you would hit O.K. again, and be back up and running.
So while this bug is quite annoying, just click O.K. at the prompts, and the original audio path will be restored.
Hit Logic's Feedback page hard with this one.

HAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!! I get this message every time I want to record audio !!!!!
Record drive/partition "Audio Files /Audio Recording" not found!

I actually have not had this happen to me in several months, and in fact, haven't even thought about it in a while.
But back when it would happen, I would be working away, recording audio without any problems, and then I'd hit record again for something, and out of nowhere, get a message like this:
    "olumes/Audio Drive/Album Projects/John Doe/Song title/Audio Files" not found.
When the first word should have been "Volumes".
So I would click and hold the record button to get to reset my audio pathway, and the proper path would already be listed. I would then merely click the "Set" button, and be back in business.
And there were even a handful of times when I would get that message with the full name listed, the V was there in "Volumes', and everything listed correctly, and going to the record settings, everything was set properly. But I'd still have to hit "Set" to remind Logic where the pathway was pointed to.
    Definitely a bug.
But... this bug never happened to me in Logic 7. It was only since installing and using Logic 8, that it occurred. And as I mentioned, it now hasn't happened in months.

  • Record Drive/Partition...

I've got Logic Pro 7 the Academic version and for some reason it's giving me a whole ton of problems. The main one, though, is, when I go into the 24 track template, and click the record button, I get the following error:
Record Drive/Partition "OS X HD" Not Found!
I click ok, it goes into the file saving thing, I type in something (gtr1 or something) and it says:
    "Could Not Create File"
Anyone know what might be going on?

Every Logic song has an audio path that is where the audio files recorded will reside.
What's happening, is that template/song is looking for a volume (hard drive) that doesn't exist on your system.
When that prompt comes up, navigate to the hard drive you plan on using for recording audio, and select it. You can even goes a far as selecting a specific folder on that hard drive (recommended). Then save that song. The audio "pathway" will then be remembered the next time you open that template up.
Read up on setting audio paths, saving songs as projects, and other related issues.

  • Will this hard drive work on my G460 (Western Digital WD Scorpio Black 500 GB SATA II)

Looking to upgrade. This is almost the same as the current hard drive in there, but it's a faster model. Western Digital WD Scorpio Black 500 GB SATA II 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache Bulk/OEM 2.5 Inch Mobile Hard drive - WD5000BPKT I'm almost positive this will work, but I just thought I'd double check before I order it. Thanks.

Actually, I found a 750 GB version for the same price. Might as well go with that if this works.

  • Recorded Videos after Sync: The requested URL was not found on this server.

A few days ago, i recorded a couple of videos. They were saved properly and i could watch them after it in the Camera Roll of my iPhone. Because my memory was almost full, i connected my iPhone to my MacBook and synchronized about 900 old pictures with iPhoto and selected to delete the pictures after the sync. I did not select the recently recorded videos.
After the sync, i opened the Camera Roll on my iPhone and tried to watch the videos again. But now, they all have a grey icon and it says the duration is 0:00 minutes. When i click on a video, it shows me the following error message:
The requested URL was not found on this server.
When i connect my iPhone to iTunes, it says that there is about 350 MB of "Documents and Data" on my phone that I have no idea where it is coming from. Do you think it is possible that the videos are still saved on my phone but my phone doesn't recognize it as videos and can't assign it to the icons in the Camera Roll? Do you have any tips how I can access the videos in case they are still saved somewhere on my iPhone?
Thank you very much in advance for your help and tips!

I have the same problem too!! I was deleting some photos and videos in my phone when the next picture I swiped to was a blank picture with JPG in the middle~ after I closed camera roll and reopened it my photos and videos after that picture are all gone~ and I'm left with 3 videos I took about 30 mins before with 0:00 and when I tried to play them the message popped up saying "requested URL cannot be found on this server" T^T does anyone have a solution to this problem?

  • 3TB western digital not showing up in bios / computer management

    Hi,
First of all, here a few specs for your needs :
    CPU : intel i7 3770k
    ram : 8GB kingston
    OS : Windows 8 @ 64 bits
    motherboard : MSI Z68A GD65 G3
GPU : SLI MSI 670 PE
Here is the problem : I cannot see my 3TB drive at all in computer management (windows) nor when booting in the bios.
I first thought it was because i plugged the drive in a marvell sata port, so i moved it to my sata 2 port (which is provisioned by the z68 chip). Nothing happened.
I updated my bios to the latest available for my board. Nothing changed.
I changed 2 times the sata cable. They were all sata III cables.
I changed the sata power cable for another one coming from a different rail on my power supply. Didn't help.
I am now clueless as what to do next. Maybe i'm doing something really dumb and not seeing it. If so, feel free to post face palms.
Does anyone here have a clue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Z99

Ah, the old nomenclature problem shows it's ugly head. Confusion with port and device naming. Port 2, which is SATA III is 'SATA2'. See why I asked about the jumper? So yes, if you want to test in SATA II ports, then the jumper is most likely going to be required. This should be covered in the WD users guide, although I don't think it will make a diffeence. I don't honestly know how to set up a HDD to GPT because my biggest drives are 2TB. Somebody should be along eventually that knows how to do that.

  • Western Digital External Drive

I am planning to go to Best Buy tonight and pick up a Western Digital My Book Premium 320 GB external hd. Does anyone have any experience with this?
I have several video tapes I have been pulling into iMovie and am quickly using space on my iMac drive, plus I'd like to back up all my photos. Since I've never used an external drive, I'd like some feedback.
I've read about backing up and cloning, but I'm not sure I care about that. I'm really just concerned about 'archiving' my data, should anything happen to the computer. My applications and computer are replaceable. That being the case, do I need to partition (I've never done that and don't know how, so would need to be 'taught').
Also, I've read about backup programs, ie. Retrospect, and I believe the drive comes with one from Western Digital. If I understand how they work, they copy designated files to the external and then periodically compare with the internal, and if there are changes, back them up. What happens to the 'original' file. What I'm really wondering is...if I am getting this as an archive, so I can remove certain photos and videos to make space on my main drive, but still want access at some point, will the program see this as a change, and discard the original from my archive?
This is probably pretty basic, but I just want to understand what I'm doing before I start. Thanks!

If you use SuperDuper, which I wholeheartedly recommend, you can partition your new external drive (use Disk Utility to do this), and use one partition to clone your drive (automatic backups will reflect what's on your main drive, so if you delete media from it, it will be deleted from the backup as well), and the other partition to archive your photos and videos. The second partition will not be affected by any backing up you do with SD. I suggest getting a large firewire drive, so that you will have space to do both.
I have been using a LaCie Porsche drive for a couple of years and have had absolutely no issues with it.

  • External hard drive only operating system, 500.g western digital, jumpers how should they be set if it has them? It does.

I have removed the original apple fujitsu HDD because of a crash, I installed the OS X 10.6 on two external drives, and they actually will fit in the place of the original.
But they both have jumpers and from when I dinked with my windows PC s and setting the jumpers I am retty sure they need to be set up to be known if they are the slave or master and all?
One of the drives is a 80.g western digital it has 4 little leads there where the jumpers are so more ways to slide the little part in place to establish what role it is to take?
It is used just to run time machine.
The other drive is a 500.g WD also just loaded with the OSX DVD 10.5 but it only has two little jumper leads, but that is 2 more than the fujitsu that was originally installed.
So I would like to put this one inside my macbook pro and both of them will plug right in place for a more solid connection so that is my situation, and would be grateful for some experience here as needed to apply for best and longest possible smooth running.
Thanks and hope to hear something ASAP, that is if I dont run into a wall and crash?
Or does it even matter being a laptop it may just default to the internal drive, and from there it is determined either by me holding the alt option, or C key down at start u to decide?
I don't know I just drive the thing and not that well. Thanks

FWIW ? Whats that mean? One of the drives had a jumper on it, the other just a place for one the pins but nothing on them.
So since I am going to put the one in my macbook that actually has a jumper and being supplied I am just trying to find out as much as possible in case my macbook drops another DUCE at least I have one less thing to eliminate to recover.
first two pins jumped usually is master drive, second is slave, 3rd don't know, 4th is both, it lets drive decide.
But thats with internal home pc drives, I have a MAXTOR I removed from a G3 mac today so I could look, and it is jumped like no windows pc drive I have ever seen.
But thanks I am going to check with western digital and find out, value my mac working too much, especially after being on a god forsaken internet exploder loaner windows computer the last week.
I wanted to spike it just for fun, but it wouldn't have been in less I was spiking it on the head of who built IE, I just cant stand trying to move on the internet and always end up where they want to go.
    anyhow thanks, David                                          FWIW?

  • Does Western Digital make quality internal hard drives?

I'm looking to buy a larger hard drive for my MacBook (1.83GHz).
This Western Digital drive popped out to me for its price:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136071
How do Western Digital hard drives compare in quality to Seagate, Toshiba, or Hitachi?
13' MacBook, eMac, Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hello,
All hard-drives have similar technologies and your mileable may vary by a number of determining factors:
    1. Portable drives often endure extra stress by being dropped and other things.
    2. Drives life may be expanded by properly performing maintenance on the drive at regular intervals. This reduces the amount of time a query on the drive takes to execute, thus extending the life of the drive.
Most hard drives work well, however, some hard drives do not have drivers that work with some systems. Most HD's have drivers that work with a variety of systems, so this really isn't a determining factor with new computer systems. I personally have seen the best mileage however with Seagate drives in Apple devices. Western Digital does make good drives, but some of them are very noisy.

  • Trying to load guitar effects template. says record drive not found.

    hi.
i'm trying to load the guitar effects template, but when I click on the record button, I get a message that record drive/partition MPC 2 not found. and then it defaults to the finder and tries to find this file or partition or whatever it is. What's going on here? how can I find this mpc 2, or else reconfigure to bypass it.
    Thanks.

Thanks very much. also I just read the answer for another post by another fellow on the same topic. I never knew that stuff about holding down the record button.
thanks folks. i got it working.

  • Hard disk Western Digital KO!

since I upgraded the operating system to Maverick on my imac I lost all backup data on an external drive that I had the Western Digital to do with Time Machine. In addition, such a disk, 1TB is practically unusable. What i can do?

    Agree with macjack.
I have a WD 1TB drive that I formated after buying it and have never had an issue with data loss. It's used as my LAN Time Machine back up for 3 Macs. Also, no operating system installs ( OS X 10.8 and 10.9) have caused any issues with it.

  • What is the problem with Western Digital HDD and OS X.9?

I received an email from Western Digital saying that OS X.9 could cause my files on my WD drives to be erased and to unplug all my WD drives until a fix is done. Is this a real problem and if so when will Apple get the fix out. I have joibs I have to get out to clients and this is a major problem for me.

Western Digital has found that their applications have got serious compatibility problems with OS X Mavericks, and they have to be updated to make them compatible with Mavericks.
Until then, keep the OS X version you have got. This is a Western Digital problem and this is why your main computer shouldn't be upgraded just after the release of a new Mac OS X version
