Record Drums Real Time (GB on iPhone)

Hi, i want to record drums real time in GB on the iPhone (like iMaschine or NanoSound)
It seems all you can do is drag the drum(s) onto some square, which has pre-recorded or pre made rhythm?  See the pic (it has Loud/Complex/Simple/Quiet)
Can I just simply record the drum(s) REAL TIME??

You can record them and treat them as an iTunes type file but, drums on a mic that has a diaphram the size of Q tip? Don't expect much, way more sound pressure level, tons of compreesion, and if you don't have a bunch of special stuff, it will pretty much be noise.

  • Anyone know if there is an adapter to record audio from an outside source in real time to an iphone 4s or 5s video?

Anyone know if there is an adapter to record audio from an outside source in real time to an iphone 4s or 5s video?

    Hi @imobl,
You sound like an Apple support guy who hasn't been able to answer my questions.
To respond to some of the points you made,
    - I did not ignore Ocean20's suggestion. If you has read my post, you would have known that I took my phone to the apple service centre where they tried this restore on THEIR machines. I am assuming that Apple guys know how not to block iTunes. So I actually do not understand your point about me trying the hosts file changes on my machine. Do you not believe that apple tested this issue with the correct settings?
    - you also give a flawed logic of why the issue is a hardware issue. You mentioned that If I thought that the issue was with the software, i should try a restore and getting it to work. The problem is that my error (23), and many others comes up when the restore fails. And you would be astonished to know that not all errors are hardware errors. Sometimes even software errors prevent restores. Funnily enough Apple itself mention that 'in rare cases, error 23 could be hardware related'.
    - all Apple has done so far is replicate the issue. I don not know how anyone can conclude that the issue is a hardware issue.
And by the way, I am not certain that this is a software bug. Again if you read my Posts, you will notice I only want a confirmation,/proof that the issue is hardware related as they mention..
Please refrain do. Responding if there is nothing to add.

  • Apps to show real-time voltage of iPhone 5 battery?

Is Apple blocking the info (such as real-time voltage, say 3.753V) and no Apps can show that info in realtime?  My iPhone drained quickly and I need to evaluate its health (My expertise is Li battery)
This company is known for heavy-hand ractice, and I am very upset!

Does anyone has an answer?  I need to read the real-time voltage!  Thanks!

  • Why can't I sample or record with effects in real-time?! LE9

Here's the scenerio: I'm recording electric guitar, but I'd like to record in real-time using the effects in Logic Express. I can't hear the effects until after I've recorded the track. Am I missing something totally obvious? I'm using LE9 and a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40. Any help?

    Yes to both questions.
To hear the fx you have applied to the guitar audio track, you need to monitor the signal *after* the channelstrip. You probably have some configuration which leads to a monitoring of your guitar signal *before* it passes the channelstrip.
Make sure you have set the track to record (red "R") and maybe input monitoring (yellow "I"), and listen to Logic's stereo output. Maybe your Focusrite is set to hardware input monitoring by accident? This would explain a lot.

  • Simulate real time recording...

    Hi,
I know with CP we can do real time video mode recording, but is there a good way of simulating a video demo?
For example, I may have a dynamically changing list of names etc when I am scrolling though the phonebook of a particular application,
I type a W, then a filter on the phonebook will start searching for names beginning with W and so on, so using still shots, is there a way to simulate that without using video demo mode??
    Any ideas?
And have I explained this clear enough?
    Cheers
    Rossco

You are probably looking for Full Motion Recording solution here. We have many such scenarios and I haven't seen FMR working in these cases (It works most consistently when we drag and drop an object from one part of the screen to another).
To simulate this, we record the real-time search results by pressing "Print Screen" on our keyboard.(basically force capture the screenshot).

  • Video screen capture of real-time iPhone activity

I'd like to be able to record my activities on the iPhone screen, real time, to be used in a video presentation. Is this possible?  Are there extra pieces of hardware that I need? Do I have to somehow connect it with my TV, or is there something simpler where I hook it up to my Mac?
For example, you know those Angry Birds walk-throughs on YouTube? How do I go about creating something like that, for whatever's onscreen on my iPhone?
Concerning specs, I have an iMac 21.5", bought new November 2011, running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3. My phone is an iPhone 4S.

    1) The best way to relocate the iTunes library folder is to move the entire iTunes folder with all subfolders to the new path, then press and hold down shift as start iTunes and keep holding until prompted to choose a library, then browse to the relocated folder and open the file iTunes Library.itl inside it.
If you've done something different then provide some more details about what is where and I should be able to help.
    2) Purchases on the device should automatically transfer to a Purchased on <DeviceName> playlist, but it my depend a bit on whether automatic iCloud downloads are enabled. If there is a cloudy link then the transfer might not happen. You can use File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. In iTunes you should also check out iTunes Store > Quick Links > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer.
    3) Backup the device, then immediately restore it. In some cases you need to add a restore as new device into that equation. Obbviously not to be attempted until you're sure all your media is in your library. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device should it be needed.
    4) I believe there is complimentary 1 incident 90-day support with hardware purchases, but no free software support for iTunes itself. AppleCare gets you a different level of support.

  • Recording with audio playback slowed down 65% what speed do I need to speed the video back up to to get it into real time?

Ive recorded a test video with audio/music playback slowed down 65% what speed do I need to speed the video back up to to get it into "real" time?
If I'd slowed the audio playback down 50% I would make the video 100% faster.
If I'd slowed the audio playback down 100% I would make the video 200% faster.
So its obviously somewhere inbetween speeding up by 100-200%
Sorry but its melting my brain today and I cant remember the calculation.
    thanks

    hey all
Thanks for the advise on this. I will explain a little more what am have/am intending to do.
I have used Audacity to slow the song down (Effect>Change Tempo)
Audacity will allow me slow the original song down by up to 99% (Or anything in-between up to 3 decimal places)
Unfortunately I am working to a time restraint of 12 minutes per clip (as my DSLR will only allow up to a 12 minute clip).
The song at normal speed is 4 minutes long.
Originally I slowed the audio down by 50% (Making the audio 8 minutes long), lip synced to it using a rasta blaster and recorded the video using my DSLR at 720p 50fps.
I then imported the video and audio I had been lip syncing to into FCPX.
I sped up the video by x2 (equivalent to speeding it up 200%)
    Retime>Fast 2X
Layered the PROPER normal speed audio back over the top and all was fine.
    Test video complete.
(You can ignore the 65% slowed down audio I mentioned earlier if you like, that was just an example of a slower than 50% audio test)
Firstly what I really want to do is to be able to slow the AUDIO down as much as possible (But still within the restraints of only being able to adjust FCPX retiming within a whole 1 percentage in the final video edit), but have the AUDIO of the song as near to/under 12 minutes as possible.
I will then re-record the video again to this new slowed down audio.
Secondly I will speed up the video from 12 minutes to 4 minutes.
Thirdly I will layer the correct 100% Normal AUDIO on top.
The FINISHED video should then look like everyone is wizzing around at high speed but the guitar playing/lyrics look like they are being played/sung at the normal speed.
Whatever happens (due to the constraints of FCPX) I need the calculations to work so that FCPX is retimed exactly to a whole 1% for the final video to sync up correctly.
So what I need to know in a nut shell is:-
What calculation do I use to work out the percentage to slow a 4 minute song down to a 12 minute song?
What calculation do I use to work out the percentage of how much I need to then speed the 12 minute video up to turn it back into a 4 minute video?
    My mind is melting

i want to be able to tweak the graphic equalizer in real time while recording - and have this have the audible effect written to the recording.
At the moment i have to go into post-production and manually set the graph equalizer at various time points ...

This won't be real-time as you record, but you could tweak the EQ in real-time after the recording thus:
Record what you want to tweak into GB with no effects.
Solo the track and output it into something like Audacity.
Start Audacity recording, then play your track in GB as you make those tweaks. That's what Audacity will record.
Get that file from Audacity and put it into GB, then you'll have that effect.
Sorry if it's complicated, but that's what came to mind. Hope it works.

  • Waveform graph x-axis into real time recording

    Hey there,
I have acquired voltage off a LVDT through the DAQ assistant and connected it to a waveform graph. However, the x-axis says its 'Time' but its got the white line running across it even though no time has elapsed and the time itself has funny units to it. What I need on the x-axis is real time so that I can see the line register from left to write as time passes by. I have tried a few things like connecting the DAQ to a chart graph but it doesnt have the log graph which I need. I have also fiddled with the XY graph by connecting the DAQ assistant into the 'Y Input' but I am not sure how to input time into the x input.
If someone could help me with this problem, it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Gurung

    Hi Gurung,
what do you expect here? Wire waveforms to a chart:
(DAQmxRead settings: n channels, n samples, 1D array of waveforms)
For learning the basics you should
    - examine the examples coming with LabVIEW
    - go through the Basics course on NI website

  • Recording THREE Real Instruments Simultaneously - MIXER?

I am recording gtr and an electronic drum kit at the same time but would love my Bassist to get in on the 'Real Time/Live' action.
My MBOX only has two inputs. How can i get the Bass hooked up as well? Would a Mixer do the trick? I need three inputs.
    thanks
    S J M

I like the option of Daisy Chaining another
interface. offhand, do you know if it would have to
be a particular interface to work with the Mbox?
wondering if i can get a very simple one, such as the
    Tascam us-122
I don't have much experience with the Aggregate Device option, I've only tried it to see how it works. However, from Apple's documentation, you can create an Aggregate device from any interfaces that are set to the same Sample Rate and Bit Depth. As far as I know that means you could even mix USB and FireWire devices as long as they were all set to 44.1K and 16-bits.
So the short answer is, to the best of my knowledge, yes, you could use the Tascam, but I've never tried it.
And now it's off to the Studio so that Scott doesn't beat me. --Hang

  • Does Any one Know How to record drums on GarageBand?

I want to record drums on garageband but i dont know how Or what I need. Im looking in to Recording a real Drum set. What would be the best way? In the future I also want to Record digital drums is there any way i can do it using midi?

"Recording real drums is a science in itself. You need several microphones, a multitrack interface and some knowledge as to how to position the mics. Using software or real instrument loops is a lot easier ...
Digital drums are easier too - you can trigger GB's internal sounds with them using a midi to usb interface. If you have a digital set, that's probably the best compromise - having a real drummer, but avoiding the technical problems of drum micing."
I find myself usually using a combination of both. As CD noted above, you can't just slap a mic somewhere around the set & expect it to sound like the big boys. (However, you CAN get some intersting sounds like that...)
Part of the problem is that the initial cost of drum specific mics can be prohibitive. That being said, you can get outstanding results w/ 4 mics-B/D, S/D + an X/Y overhead pair. Or use the Glyn Johns 4 mic method. No shortage of info out there, do a Google search.
While great strides have been made in the drum (& guitar amp/effects) modelling realm, nothing really "feels" like a real set (or amp, or...) moving air through a mic. It all boils down to budget & level of commitment (and time, of course). Keep us posted.

  • How do I play slow motion video in real time?

I accidentally recorded video on my iPhone 5s in slow motion, and now I want to import it into iPhoto and play it in real-time.  How can I do that?

Thank you for taking the time to contribute. Unfortunately, you are referring to the dekstop version of iMovie - my question specifies iMovie for iPhone (and I asked in the iMovie for iOS forum).
I would find it hard to believe that Apple included a way to record slow-motion but not be able to get that footage into iMove (iOS App version).
    Thanks.
