Record on Ipod workaround?

I need to record some information and store it on my ipod. If I use a digital voice recorder (like Olympus DS-2), can I use the Ipod as a storage device? I will only have the recorder, my ipod (and a usb cable.) I know the recorder is created with a USB port to send audio files to a mac or pc. Can the ipod function in the same way?
Imac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Ipod 5g

Not directly from the recorder to the iPod.
You'll need to import those WMA files into iTunes, convert them into a format that the iPod supports, then sync them to the iPod.

  • How can I record my Ipod Touch 4G (5.0.1) screen?

Hi, I have heard that you can record your Ipod Screen by Itunes, but my question is how? I hope you reply quickly!

You can make a static photo of the screen.  However, I know of no Apple-authorized way to record video of the Pod's screen.

  • I don't know how record my ipod classic

    Good evening every body,
I'm french, I have bought an ipod since one week, and I've try severals times to record it, but I've failed every times.Just when I try to login, a sentence in red comes " to use this apple ID you must first login to the My Info Web page then provide additional security information"
Can you help me, because I can use my ipod, but can not record it
    thank you
    first-picture.

It seems that in order to record your iPod (in other words, the "register" it with Apple), we are required to give a credit card number, expiration date, and security code! This is unreasonable of Apple.
According to the customer support agent with whom I spoke, I should provide this information, then immediately go into my account at the iTunes store and remove the information.
Not good enough for me. Apple is not going to see it at all.
I will not be registering my iPod with Apple.
Am I being overly paranoid? Can Apple be trusted with my credit card information?

  • Video Recording with iPod?

I am curious, can I use an iPod as a recording HD. I want to use a digital camera with AV to the iPod. How do you get video onto the iPod? Does anyone know if this will work?
    Thanks,

Have you ever heard about the iPod movieplayer?
    http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=36
It will use any iPod as an indipendent hard disk, infact it shows a AV input to record directly on the iPod.
Note that i am not making advertisement to Nyko....
    Cheers

  • Recording to Ipod through Input?

I have a bullet camera with a 3.5mm input that says it will record to many personal media players. I heard that the new 5th G ipods will record sound, how about video?
Anyone know how to, or even if its possible to record from a camera directly to an ipod?
I was planning on buying a 30g video ipod and only need about 5 gigs, so I could use the rest for recording video. Then i could sell my Archos

Get an aux connection with 3.5 and then connet it with the headsethole and you can listen to your music Have fun

  • How to pull videos recorded on iPod off device; transfer to computer (if files are too large to email)?

I've recorded 2 short videos on my iPod with the camcorder function, but they are too long/large to email to myself (I am not interested in cutting them any shorter). What are my options for transferring these files from my iPod to my Macbook Pro?

  • How to edit audio files recorded on Ipod

I'm new at this! I'm recording long interviews on my Ipod, which get downloaded as Voice Memos into Itunes. I need to edit those files, and thought Garage Band would be just the program to do it with.  Now I'm not sure it will work.  The original files are in.wav format, but I figured out how to translate them into .mp3 format, too. Regardless, Garage Band won't recognize them. What is the best way to edit those interviews? Is there a way to do it with Garage Band? If I have to look to some other app, what do you recommend? Thanks for any light you can shed!

If they are in itunes, you should be able to just drag them from the itunes sidebar area in garageband to edit them.
If not and mp3 isnt working try converting it into aiff although wav works fine on garageband too.

  • Playback and record to ipod

When I playback albums from library that were imported from CD, and do not have any "pause" between the original tracks, the playback "pauses" between tracks. Have checked crossfade to "0". When I record to my ipod the results are the same.
Sample = "Dark side of the Moon".
    Any ideas ??
    PC   Windows XP Pro

Unfortunately, iTunes doesn't feature gapless playback, thus you'll always have a slight pause or crossfade between two tracks.
A possible sollution would be to import the entire CD as one track.
To do so, highlight all tracks on the CD before importing, then choose "join tracks" from the "Advanced" dropdown.

  • Live recording with iPod?

    Hi -
Someone I met boasted he could plug a stereo microphone (a Sony model, with a 1/8" plug) into his 60GB model (an older one, whichever generation had an 1/8" input) and with no hacking/wizardry/voodoo could record directly to the unit.
    1) Was he putting me on?
    2) Do the new models have this capability (if, in fact, it's capable)?
    3) If I dare drive to an Apple store, will I get a straight answer?
    Thanks

I too I'm wondering that. But this is what I do know:
Under the specs it does have a voice recording settings Low (22.05 KHz, mono) High (44.1 KHz, stero). http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html
There is the Griffin iTalk - iPod Voice Recorder.
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/71606/wo/vO2x3fQ llvEv3J1KH2R1kEsiakK/5.SLID?mco=7379F84&nplm=T9635LL%2FA
However, I don't know if you can just hook up any un-amped mic and it would work?

  • What size is a video file recorded with ipod touch 4g

just would like to know about what size would a one minute video recorded with the touch be, the same for a picture taken with it.  so i have an idea of which size ipod i should get.  of course, i'd like the 64gb, but right now i have a 32gb 1st gen touch loaded with 650 songs, 10 movies, photos and apps. it still has 18gb available.

Thanks, it would be safe to guess that a picture wouldn't be more than 3 MB.  So, I would think that for what I'll be using an iPod, another 32gb should be enough as long as I download the files to a computer periodically.

  • XtremeMac MicroMemo Digital Voice Recorder For iPod

Im using a Sony recorder, that my friend let me borrow, to record my lectures for class. In order for me to transfer the recordings onto my mac, I must have windows. I don't want to install parallel onto my mac just for the recorder.
This device claims to be a detachable microphone which can records meetings, lectures or audio content directly onto iPod. It has a speaker for playback, I'm assuming that this device will not transfer onto my mac.
If anyone has used it, or has any suggestions on a recorder that i can record and then have it transfer to my computer or has any idea on how to get recordings (its in dvf format) please let me know.
    thanks!

The Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic allow you to record memos onto a 4th gen iPod nano.
I've noticed your OS is not recent enough for the latest iPod nano, or more importantly the iTunes version required for the 4th gen iPod nano. I'm surprised it works with a 2nd gen iPod nano.

  • Audio/Voice Recorder for iPod [video] classic 160 GB Silver 6th Generation?

Hi, I'm looking for a voice recorder for my iPod, but I'm not sure which ones are compatible with my version, and which one is best.
i.e. Belkin TuneTalk, Griffin iTalk, etc. (I don't know which one is compatible, and then which one is best.)
This is the iPod I have:
Apple iPod classic 160 GB Silver (6th Generation)
    http://www.amazon.com/Apple-iPod-classic-Silver-Generation/dp/B000JO7RVC
I've been doing research on the matter, but due to conflicting reports, I am left in ultimate confusion.
So I thought it would be best to ask the experts.
    Thanks!

    tunetalk & classic: No way.
I am having endless trouble with Belikin Tunetalk stereo & IPOD classics.
I've asked Belkin & Apple & had nothing useful.
background: Been using Belkin tunetalk stereos (2) with 2 Ipod 5G (video) for more than a year. They work ok: [given the well know issues of harddrive noise picked up with internal microphones.]
Two modes available: "low" 22050 MONO & "high" 44100 Stereo
Had a ipod die on me, so upgraded to classics.
Recorded away, got nothing but 44100 MONO. Not supposed to be able to do this mode. & since I was recording TWO channels, I lost data. Belkin site says for classics only with the lastest software".
I've reflashed the ipods multiple times I one ipod records only mono (BLACK), the other (SILVER) records about 1 in 10 mono. Of course you can't tell till you're done whether you're going to get mono or stereo!
As iDude80n said about asking experts? Any one know if I go buy TWO MORE ipods, eg nanos, will these things actually work? Will post as separate question.

  • Audio line in while recording with ipod touch

Looking at buying a 5th Gen touch to record local basketball games.  Need the ability to record the audio live broadcast into my live video of the game so I am wondering if I can use the video camera of the touch and record a seperate audio track with the video being recorded with a line in option.  I have used a sd camcorder with a line in capability playing the local radio station audio as I record but dont know it this can be done with a ipod touch.  I could use the camera app or imovie app to record but not sure if separate audio track is possible with them or will it just record from the mic of the ipod touch?

You can connect a mic to the iPod via the headphone jack and that mic will be used by the video app you use for the video camera on the iPod. I do not remember if the built-in mic gets cut off when yo do that so you may have to cover the mic hole on the iPod.

  • Using italk to record on ipod

i have been using the griffin italk to record for a while and its great. the only time that it doesnt work very well is when my band gets really loud.
does anybody else record with this setup and how do you work around this problem of recording stuff thats too loud. a preamp? a mixer? theres no way to monitor the input level.
    thanks

I work in a corp environment and they are security to the max. My workaround was to purchase a stand-alone production system so that I could develop apps. Our desktop service will not touch it. I am soly responsible for it. That is where I loaded Captivate. The application I need to record runs on the corporate networked system. I do have corp wireless to production system...but again it's sectioned off from rest of company. :-(
I think what I may try is a form of RodWord's trick. I can disable license on the producton system temporarily. Load and register full verison on network system, provided desktop allows me. Again they are paranoide about illegal software. Run the recordings..then reactive on production system and move over recordings.
    Cross my fingers.....!
