Record player to final cut?

Can you take one of those usb turntables and transfer a record into final cut or do you have to do that through GarageBand and how does that work does anyone know.
Thanks

Hi Bill,
Most USB turntables come with software so it's pretty painless, they usually convert to MP3 so once you get the songs onto your computer you can convert to AIF (using i tunes) ready for FCP.

  • DVB-C recorded DVDs to Final Cut Pro to DVD Studio Pro and Flash - how?

As a TV journalist I am recording my works with my DVB-C Receiver and a DVD-Harddisc-Recorder from LG. The movies are stored on the harddisc and I burn them to DVDs in order to work with the files on my computer. What progrograms do I have to use in order to get file out of the DVD-vobs, that Final Cut Pro can read an work with. DVB-C is MPEG-encoded, right? But I don’t want to loose quality and don’t want to encode the material several times? In Final Cut I want to get rid of commerials and cut severel movies together that were broadcasted on several days. After that I want to get two differt files: 1. A flash movie form my website and 2. A file form my archive. With those files I want to complile DVDs with DVD Studio Pro for my customers later. Can anyone please give me a good and professional workflow to solve this common problem? Thanks a lot.

  • DVD PLAYER AND FINAL CUT PRO

Is it possible to take a dvd and capture the files to Final cut pro??
If so how do you do it?? I have a family dvd that I want to convert to a avi file the only way I know is through final cut pro. However, when I put the DVD in DVD player pops up and I don't know how to capture it into final cut.

    What's that?
You've been provided the name of a software (freeware) title designed to convert a DVD's VOB files into an editable format ... as well as the URL of where you can download the software. If the URL doesn't work, you can always use a search engine such as Google to look for the provided software name.
YouTube accepts several formats. Here's a link to YouTube's Help Center: http://youtube.com/t/ythandbookproduce# Once there, click on the link named "Best Formats for Uploading."
By the way, AVI isn't a format or codec in and of itself; it's merely a container for AV files that could be made using any number of formats.

  • How do I record voice on Final Cut Pro

Hi everyone. I have a question. How do I record audio from a microphone plugged to my mac on the FCP. And in case I decide to use Soundtrack which settings do I have to put to then pass this audio to a FCP project done with Apple Pro Res 422.
    Thanks

    EugeniaMac:
For high quality production work, and with a professional mike in hand I think that it would be better to preamp the mike and use the “line-in” function rather than use a cheap USB mike.

  • DVDs through Final CUT PRo

Is it possible to run a DVD and record it into FInal cut pro?
I was thinking if I attach my DV VHS combo to the DVD player and then through the computer it might work.
Also does the VOB file that you get from DVD shrink on a PC import into final cut pro? Is there an equivalent of shrink on the mac?
    thanks
    dan

With a program called Cinematize, you can take any video from an unprotected DVD and save it as many different formats that you can import into FCP. You have a lot of control over the video and audio exporting, and you can choose the clips you want to use.
    http://www.miraizon.com/products/products.html
I have had many clients bring in DVD's of their home movies that they have already had transfered. Because the DVD's are not copyright protected I can pull the desired clip from the DVD and use it as I please. I would recomend looking into this program or something similar as others have suggested. Cinemtize is very simple to use.

  • How do I connect my DSLR camera to Final Cut Pro's Camera Import?

I recently purchased a Canon EOS Rebel T3i. I am trying to get it to record directly into Final Cut Pro, but I can't figure out how.
It does not have a FireWire port, just a USB and HDMI output. I'm thinking it's going to need to output to the HDMI port and have some sort of interface between the Mac and the HDMI cable, but I would prefer to record directly using the USB cable.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this and/or has done it before. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Zane

I haven't got a DSLR but I think they probably import like most AVCHD camcorders.
You connect it with a USB cable and switch it on.
You then set FCP X to import the video clips.

  • Has anyone burned 1080p blu-ray discs using Final Cut Pro alone?

I am in the market for a new computer. Currently I am a PC user who has burned Blu-Ray discs using Pinnacle. I am dissatisfied with that software because it hangs and crashes at critical moments in the rendering and burn process. I am considering switching to Mac but will only do so if I can burn true Blu-Ray movies which are playable in an ordinary Blu-Ray player.
I have read some of the discussions on this board and it is not clear to me whether it is yet possible to burn 1080p Blu-Ray discs playable on any Blu-Ray player using Final Cut Pro alone. Can someone confirm for me whether they have done this? Some users have indicated they can only output 720p using Final Cut Pro (which is not very satisfying). Others have indicated it is necessary to use Adobe Encore. If you have to use Adobe Encore to burn, why use Final Cut Pro at all? Why not use Adobe Premier Pro for editing and Encore for burning?

    David S. wrote:
And yes you can author single track 1080p blu ray discs with Compressor 3.5.
But that's not what the OP asked, "using FCP alone."
Why not use Adobe Premier Pro for editing and Encore for burning?
Well, why not just put CS4 on your PC, especially considering you already have the BD hardware?
There is no truth to the rumor that applications running on Macintosh are any more stable than the same apps a PC; all systems crash.

  • Fixing the corrupt file created when final cut crashes during a capture...

Hi, occasionally whilst I'm capturing from Digi Beta my G5 will crash on the end of the capture (the beach ball will just keep spinning until I have to force quit).
When I check the file I was capturing in my Capture Scratch it comes up as a huge file (usually around 700gb) with a '-av' added to the end of it's file name.
When I remove the -av, the file goes back to its original size but Quicktime player or Final Cut don't recognise it to open (though it does keep its Quicktime icon).
Usually I just delete this file and re-capture it but I'm just wondering if there's any way of fixing the file to save time?
    Thanks,
    Alex

IIRC, the file is incomplete, it's lacking the complete header information. Have you tried appending .mov to the file? Let us know how that works.

  • Get Videos (vhs) into final cut pro 5

    Hi
I wonderd if theres any way of me linking up my video player to final cut pro 5 to get my videos onto my hard drive to watch etc. or any other way of getting my videos on there?
    Thanks

    You need an Analog/Digital convertor.
If your Handycam has RCA inputs, you can connect the VCR to the Handycam, a firewire cable from your Handycam to the computer, and capture as an uncontrolled device.
If your Handycam can't do A/D conversion, you'll need to buy an A/D convertor. This one will work:

although if you're going to do alot of it and your VHS tapes are old (the tracking isn't great), it'd be worth the extra $$ to get this one:

  • Live Editing through Final Cut

Maybe someone could help me with this.
Supposedly I am supposed to be able to record directly into Final Cut Pro during a live event. We have multiple cameras that we record onto, and we also have a mixing board (a Focus MX4) that we use to switch between cameras so that we can do live editing (well, as far as camera angles anyway.) We hook the cameras up via RCA to the mixing board and then run the board into the computer. The problem we're running into is that when we try to record to Final Cut, we get a "No Controller error" and I just don't know enough about the program to figure out how to get around it. (Sorry, I've been a PC - Adobe Premiere guy and I'm new to the Mac world)
Could anyone help me out with this? We are currently having to record through Quicktime. For some reason, the way it saves the movie won't be recognized by Final Cut. When I try to import it, I get an error message which reads "File Error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown." If I'm reading it right, it says that it recognizes the file, but then turns right back around and tells me it doesn't recognize it (Which makes no since because it's supposed to support .mov files). In order to get the movie to where I can edit, I have to import it to iMovie, export it as a .dv file, and then pull it into Final Cut, all of which takes 2-3 hours. (It also may help to know that we also run sound directly from the sound board and into the computer. We then have it record with the video through quicktime using the internal software.)
If anyone could help me with this (or has a better setup we could use that would ACTUALLY work) please let me know. Thanks!

This is the Final Cut Express forum.
You can capture into FCP if it's set to non-controllable device in device control. Presumably the material coming from the switcher is in digital form, or something it converting it to a digital signal. Or you'll need an analog/digital converter, either a box or a board.

  • Dvd capture to final cut

how do i capture from the dvd player to final cut?
    G5 Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

To use footage from a non-copyright DVD-Video you have two basic options:
    1. Software - use a program such as DVDxDV or Cinematize to convert the disc's VOB contents into an editable format for importing into FCP.
    2. Hardware - connect a DVD player's outputs to your DV device's inputs then capture in FCP as you would any other non-controllable source.
Keep in mind that DVD-Video footage is highly compressed so quality-wise, you'd be better off capturing from the original source tapes.

  • I am a Media Pastor at a church and am needing to find a Macbook that will fulfill the needs of running Final Cut Pro and Wirestream. What Macbook would be sufficient to do the job?

I am needing some guidance on the purchase of a Macbook Pro. I am wanting to have Wirestream Pro 4, a live streaming/recording software, and Final Cut Pro 7 and am needing to see what i would need to run them as far as drive capacity etc.

The top end MacBook Pro 15" (17" high res/anti-glare for full 1080 HD screen)  for mobile video needs with some restrictions and hinderances, you will need the Build to Order 7,200 RPM drive for sure as you need space and speed.
You can have 8GB of RAM from Apple or place 16GB in yourself for a lot less than Apple charges for 8GB. However you need to be handy with tiny screws, or have a local specialist do the 16GB for you.
Your probally better off with a MacPro than a MacBook Pro.
The MacPro is more powerful, and easier to get inside and do things, lasts longer, more ports, more drives, more storage for video, fast external RAID 5 setups etc.
So if you can get into a MacPro, that would be a better option for video.

  • Final Cut Pro, Flash Video Encoder & Flash Player

Well, let's get started.... I'm getting real frustrated with
Adobe. I emailed them about this problem two months ago and NEVER
got a response. This is extremely unacceptable product support. We
just purchased the Creative Suite Premium two months ago and have
never gotten Flash Video Encoder to properly encode a Quicktime
video exported from Final Cut Pro.
I have heard from a few on the Final Cut Pro forum on
Creative COW that there is a bug with this issue between Flash and
Final Cut Pro. Adobe doesn't seem to care if I report it, so that's
    why I am here.
I create my program as usual, export a Quicktime file (not
reference video, but a full self-contained Quicktime). BTW, I have
Quicktime 7.2 on my Mac Pro Quad 3.0 with 8 gig of RAM. I open
Flash Video Encoder to make my flash files. Import the Quicktime
and select my settings which are custom. I set it to encode and
wait for the encoding to be done. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to
encode a 23 minute program. After the encode is finished, I check
the Flash file by opening it up. BTW, I also have installed a copy
of On2 Flix Exporter, which encodes Flash files, too. The On2 Flash
player is the only player that works. Adobe's Flash player opens
but it won't open ANY Flash files.
    Has anyone seen this?

When I try to import it on FCPX it says "None of the selected files or folders can be imported. Change the selection and try again." and even on Compressor it either doesn't play and fails to convert, or else it plays only a the audio but once I've completed the process the outputted file doesn't play anything.
Here's a screenshot at my different attempts to convert it. I managed to get the record the video on VLC, but I can't record the audio so I tried getting only the audio form Compressor as well, but like I said the outputted file doesn't play any audio even though it's as long as the video (36 mins approx.).

  • How can I make my screen recording (Quicktime X) not blurry or distorted in Final Cut Pro X?

All my screen recording end up blurry (with unlegdeable font) when I put them into Final Cut Pro X. I am currently using Quicktime X but I also tried the Screenflow demo with the same effect. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

What are the exact specs of the QT movie? The project probably doesn't match it as the QT player records in completely non-standard formats. You might try rendering it and using high quality playback in playback prefs.

  • Quicktime screen recording to final cut

Hi there, I'm not sure why but after making a screen recording in quicktime I was unable to place the file as an import into my final cut sequence and kept getting an unknown error. I then went to imovie and exported the screen recording to a PAL setting which I could then place in final cut but this was quite a loopy way of doing things plus lost a lot of the sharpness by exporting through imovie?
    Any suggestions appreciated =)

it's not free, but you could use IShowU HD Pro and make screen capture movies that can be dropped right in the timeline. The cheaper versions would work too, but would need conversion to a FCE codec in QuickTime Player or MPEG Streamclip.
