Record quality

I just finished a video that has 7 tracks, and kept hanging up, until I dropped playback resolution down to medium. I have the box checked that says "record at full quality" and I understood that to be no matter what the timeline resolution was. This time it was not. It looks like ****. I'm dubbung Varicam footage out to a 1200a deck. This has worked in the past, but I haven't tried it since I upgraded to 5.1.2. Am I missing something?

Assuming that everything is fully rendered, as a work-around you may want to try exporting as a self-contained movie, then importing that into a blank Sequence for printing to tape. It will tax your system resources a lot less.

  • Poor video recording quality with Presenter 9

    I'm trialling Presenter 9 and Captivate 7.
I have a Compaq CQ61-320SA latop with a 2.2 Ghz dual core processor and 8 Gb RAM. It's 3 or 4 years old. The Display Adaptor entry in Device Manager says it has Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family (Microsoft) and the driver is up to date. (I should say that HP's product spec page for my laptop says that 'Video Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G which confuses me as Device manager is listing it as Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family?)
When I record full screen in Presenter (it seems you are restricted to full screen recording in Presenter, unlike in Captivate), the resulting MP4 is rendered in high quality. The fonts in the video look nice and sharp. However, if I import the video into Powerpoint with the Adobe Presenter add in and then publish it to a folder on my PC with the 'lossless' setting and then click on the file 'index.html' the playback quality in my browser (Internet Explorer 11) is much lower. The fonts look 'blocky'.
I don't think it can be PC specification because if I record full screen in Captivate 7 and import the MP4 file into a new project and publish it, the quality of the published slide is great. (Again, I click on  the 'index.html' file to play the published video).
Does this mean that Presenter is not as good as Captivate in terms of its video recording quality? Are the encoding engines different?
I love the webcam PIP functionality and simplicity of Presenter but the seemingly low video quality versus Captivate is an issue for me.
    Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated.
    Peter

After playing with Presenter more, I've come to the conclusion that the degradation in quality from the original MP4 video file (that Presenter generates with its video creator tool) to the reduced quality after importing the MP4 into PowerPoint and publishing the course to HTML is probably due to a scaling issue. I've read elsewhere on this forum and on the Camtasia forum that whenever you re-scale a video, you lose clarity. The fact is that Presenter only allows recording of the entitre screen. When you import a full screen recording into a PowerPoint slide, because the slide itself is of a size lower than full screen, the original full screen dimension in the video is scaled down.
I'm thinking that the higher specification graphics card in the new laptop I talked about in the previous post produces a higher quality MP4 video in the first place so that the effect of the scaling down when imported into PowerPoint is more acceptable.
    Any comments?

  • N8 - Low Video Recording Quality

    Hi,
The recording quality seems low on my N8, even though it is set to HD. There are vague lines distorting the video. I have compared newly recorded videos with older ones and there is a clear difference.
However I haven't recorded a video for a few weeks so I'm not entirely sure if it's a faulty camera or if the newly updated Belle software is causing this.
Has anyone else experienced issues like this or has any solutions?

The images clicked by my n8 (updated with belle) are lower in quality.

  • Media Center Deluxe II Recording Quality

I am trying to find a better quality format to record DVD's with. The 720x400 does not seem to be sufficient for recording high quality DVD's with. Can anyone recommend a better compatible codec or fixes for this limitation? I am recording in NTSC_M_J which has 100 more vertical lines than NTSC_M. this helps a little, but I need better quality for commercial reproduction. Thanks,

  • Recording quality problem..can anyone help?

I have found Audition to be a wonderful tool for my audio restoration work, and so it was natural for me to use it when I started recording my own music. I write 2-4 songs a month, andI have been struggling for years to perfect my guitar tones. I  have had some moderate success, but only when I tweak the sound somewhat extensively after recording in AA3.
I had gotten used to that procedure, and then a couple weeks ago, when I was having problems with the headphone connection in my speakers, I plugged my headphones directly into my mixer for the first time. The sound quality was phenomenal. It just blew me away.
I tested my mixer, and I also worried that my soundcard might be at fault, (an EMU 1212m), but I am able to play a most beautiful tone, recorded elsewhere, in WMP just fine with no loss of quality, so I assume my sound card is fine.
It never occurred to me that it might be a problem with AA3 until last night and this morning I recorded some tracks in 2 different free programs, (Streamosaur, and Audacity), and those 2 recordings made my recording in AA3 sound pretty bad by comparison.
Over the last few days I have spent hours testing different parameters in Audition.I have used both the windows driver and the Asio driver setups in Edit>Audio Hardware Setup, and I have used different bit depth and sample rates with no apparent improvement.
By all appearances, this has been a problem all along, and not just a recent event. I realize that, more often than not, computer problems can be attributed to pilot error, but I am at a loss to understand what I may have done wrong.
If someone could help me sort this out, I wuold greatly appreciate it. I am far too accustomed to using Audition to change now if I can possibly help it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Kevin

Did you try recording in AA3 with the input set at 01s or 02s in Edit View?
    >
Yes, I tried I/O Card L and I/O Card R and it is still
    mono..just two channels the same.
What default stereo input are you using in 1.5?
There is no "Audio Hardware Setup" that I know of in 1.5. I just installed
the program, went to the edit screen, and selected file new..then hit
record. It recorded exactly what I was hearing, (stereo). I don't know what
1.5 uses as a default. Where do I find that?
Is that default stereo input not available to you in AA3?
Apparently not.just a minute..there was a spdif and something else in there
    too, I think.
Bingo! I just tried Aux 1 L.  Now it is working! I don't know what
this means, but I am so relieved to have full use of Audition 3!
Thank you for hanging with me on this..I never would have gotten it
    otherwise.

  • For guitar, vocals, keyboard/drumpad controller, what is the best audio interface to use/record quality sound in Logic, Mainstage, Garageband, etc. (lowbudget)?

So many to choose from. im really just trying to record clean sounding electric guitar tracks now vocals in the future and keyboard/drumpad controller near future..(irrelevant but thought i should mention im in the market for a keyboard and drumpad controller combo hopefully will be usb or something) but i need a quality audio interface to use with Logic Pro 9 and all the stuff that comes with it (mainstage, etc) and also Garageband. I have heard so many different reviews about this or that but all in all i dont think i can afford an apogee except maybe the apogee One but it at 249 or whatever i feel like i could get alot more bang for my buck. Ive heard alot of good things about m-audio gear but i heard mixed reviews as well. If someone can just tell me what is the best interface in the 100-200$ range for the needs ive listed above...Any responses or advice greatly apprecitated.
    Thanks

    hi mm
there are so many different sound cards out there these days it seems - ill just say that one that i got alot of use out of was the tascam 122 (http://www.tascam.com/Products/US-122.html)
it has 2 decent phantom powered XLR inputs, some midi stuff, a place to plug a guitar into and some nice big knobs.
the next level would be something with more ins (8 or 10) and probably firewire, and also around $400 i think.
oh, and your computer should be more than sufficient to handle what you want to do.

  • Captivate 6 Software Simulation Recording Quality

Is there a way to set Captivate 6 to automatically record software simulations (demo) as high quality instead of optimized? I have a feeling there's a setting that I'm just missing. Thanks.

Ok, I just tried it in a new project and think there might be a wider problem here.
I copied the first (target) and last slide into a new project. I added a slide in between.
I added a button to the last slide to jump to Slide 2 and a button to jump to Slide 1. When I previewed each, I noticed that the playhead in the playbar jumped to the start of each slide. Hoorah.
I then set about recreating the basics of my original project. The variable names had automatically been copied over, as did only one conditional action (but 3 other actions were not copied over from those slides). All button and text names had automatically changed to the default and no advanced actions were associated with buttons or the TEB.
I deleted the one action that had been copied over and then tried to delete the variables too but the project wouldn't let me, saying these were in use somewhere. (Not as far as I could be see.) ...So I chose to use them again.
I renamed the buttons, text boxes etc., recreated the advanced actions and associated them to buttons/TEB etc. Basically set it up as it was.
I previewed it. From the last slide, jumping to slide 2 went to the start of that slide but (problem) jumping to slide 1 went to the last frame.
I am attaching some screenshots FYI. The interactions hinge around the name of the main character in a story (her name is Lani). By clicking enter, the default name stays and slide 2 begins. Otherwise the user can change this name (in the TEB) and then they have to choose gender (boy or girl button). After that, slide 2 starts. So there are three actions: NameChange2 (conditional), Clicking_BoyButton (standard) and Clicking_GirlButton (standard). You can recreate something like it if your interest extends that far!
Unless there is a problem with Cp7, perhaps some form of corruption was copied across between the projects (with the variables that I couldn't delete).
    Thanks again!

  • Recomendations for Recording Quality Voice Over in Captivate

We have been working with Captivate to create training
materials for about six months and like it a lot. We are using a
lot of voice overs in our trainings. At the moment I'm using a mid
to low range headset to record the voice over. It is a step up from
your cheap VOIP headset but still isn't a high end model. It cost
about 30 euros. The quality is acceptable but could be improved
    upon.
I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations about
headsets/microphone recording equipment to optimize the quality
when recording voice in Captivate. Are there also any
recommendations about what sort of software is optimal? Are some
sound cards better than others etc? I've tried to find this info in
the Captivate documentation but haven't found any recommendations.
If anyone could give me your own experience or point me in
the right direction for any Adobe recommendations I'd appreciate
    it.
    Many thanks,
    Aimee

Don't use Captivate 2 or 3 built in audio recorder, it
introduces the degradations you experience. We use Adobe Audition
(now Soundbooth) to record and then simply import to the library.
You could of course use any external recording program, just don't
use the Captivate internal recorder and you will get pristine sound
    everytime.
To rerecord or add more to the recording simply right mouse
click from the library and it will launch Audition. Mono 44.1khz,
700 or better kbps for voice recording will result in an excellent
hiss free, no start or end click sound when you play. You must then
find the recording after you have saved your edit in Audition and
right click to update the new changes. It will update the file in
the library and the slide together.
When saving your recording use a naming convention such as
    module 1,chapter 1,slide1 (M1_C1_S1) that way multiple slide 1
recordings will not confuse you in the library when there are
multiple slide 1's from different chapters.

New roadmap to transition to Microsoft Mobile indicates that Nokia Asha and X series will be left out in favour of Windows Phone platform. Nokia has abandoned in manufacturing Symbian phones in mid-2013 with the Nokia 808 being the last one to be shipped out.
What is different between (S60) and symbian???
The S60 or series 60 is a platform on Symbian OS.

  • Quicktime Pro: poor record quality

I've been trying to record into Quicktime Pro from my DV camera and find the resulting picture quality to be really bad (audio is fine). It's so bad it's pretty unusable. Compared to recording into iMovie the comparison is huge. Even exporting from iMovie as an mp4 is considerably better.
Reading about the H264 codec I expected better, or has the codec got nothing to do with Quicktime's record feature? Maybe there's something I need to do that I'm not. Tried the various settings in preferences - doesn't help. Can anyone enlighten?
    Thanks.

This feature is basically a QT Pro 7 "after-thought." While performance has dramatically improved with each upgrade, you are still basically using a unstable, non-dedicated utility. Remember, when not using "Device Native," you are both capturing and converting "on-the-fly." If you want quality, use a dedicated application and reconvert as needed. If all you need is a simple capture utility, try Vidi (free).

  • Sound Recording Quality

    Hi!
I have a simple application that records the output of the
Microphone on a FMS server using a simple ns.publish (name, record).
My question is if I change the rate of the microphone , will that
change the sound quality of the .flv file stored on the server ? Or
is the recorded sound rate fixed by FMS ?
    Thanks,
    George

Changing the sampling rate on the mic will change sound
quality on the final recording. It's actually the Flashplayer that
does the encoding... FMS just records what the player feeds it.
When setting your rate, I suggest using 11,22, or 44khz. Macs
have a problem playing back audio sampled at 5 and 11khz.

  • Cannot choose screen recording quality

I cannot choose Quality for screen recording... please help!
My system is 10.9 and my QuickTime Player is Version 10.3 (727.1).

I don't think that's the case for me. The video I record does not look HQ, and I cannot export it higher than 480...
Dedpends on how you try to re-transcode it. For instance, it appears that the Mavericks Finder level service will allow you to upconvert the video but why bother? Doing so normally just makes for a larger file storage size with degraded video display:
I.e., the "Export" option normally prevents the user from upconverting files to a display/encode size larger than the original.

  • Selecting the recording quality on the new

Ok, i think i have the new zen, but im not entirly sure....
This is what it says in the information...
    Creative Zen
    Version: .2.0e
    Total Space Etc... 30646mb.
    I have the 32GB version.
What i want to know is if there are any ways i can change the recording bitrate and maybe even the format!
I'm hoping to record as MP3 at about 92kbs, is this possible, and how to i get the player to do it's
If it cant be done normally, i would consider a firmware update, or even maybe a hack to do this, any ideas?

I'm uncertain I understand your question. The Zen player only supports direct recording when using the built-in voice recorder. I doubt you are referring to that. It doesn't support any other recording (e.g. recording from the radio).
The quality of everyting else you put on the Zen is controlled by the PC software used to rip tracks from CDs and/or transcode existing content (be it audio, video or a combination) to a format the Zen supports. Changes to the format and quality of that content would be handled via the options in the PC sotware. The Zen has little to nothing to do with it.

  • QT recording quality low ?

I'm new to screen recording but I'm a bit surprised at the lack of sharpness of the quality of my screen recordings that I just made. I have exported them at the highest quality, actually I tried all the settings and I'm still not pleased. I'm trying to do tutorials for a release of our software but I don't want the software looking cheap.

I guess I'm wondering if anyone has noticed that the screen recordings come out a little grainy. I'm using a retina mac book pro but I doubt that has anything to do with it. Or am I better off buying another piece of software?
