Record quicktime movie without audio track?

There are many posts out there trying to troubleshooting when there is no audio during quicktime recording, but there are some scenarios that I would like to do recording without audio track at all. What is the best way to achieve this besides muting my microphone? Thanks!

Music purchased from iTunes is protected and can't be exported to other formats.

  • Using Quicktime Audio .mov As Audio Track

    Hi folks.
I have an external microphone which I record into Quicktime as my audio track. Functions much better as audio for what I am recording.
My video is an independent HD camera, which I import afterwards into iMovie '09. I want to mute the camera audio, and use the microphone audio. How do I do that? It's a .mov, and I can only see it through using the iTunes importation, which is bad enough.
Do I have to translate to an MP3 first? I don't want to compress it.
    Cheers

iM09 has the drag-n-drop feature that you can use with the 2nd video clip that has your audio, and simply select the "Audio Only option" when you drop it on your main clip. See if this resolves your problem.
Workaround is to convert it to any of the supported formats - AAC, MP3, etc. to use as a standalone audio track.
And don't forget to either manually reduce the volume (under Audio tab when you dbl-click the clip) of the unwanted audio track to zero, or use ducking to reduce volume of the alternate track.

  • How do I add a quicktime (10.0) audio track to imovie (8.0.6)?

I would like to add a quicktime (10.0) audio track to imovie (8.0.6). The audio is in .mov format. When I go to import it, it is grey and will not allow me to click on it.  I tried to put it into itunes and select it from there but I can't figure out how.

You might have more success converting it into an AIFF file.
Try this: Download MPEG Streamclip, it's a free utility that allows you to do a lot of different conversions on audio and video clips. What we're going to to try is save an AIFF to 48kHz and re-import it into iMovie and see if there's a difference.
Once you download MPEG Streamclip, open it and go to File Menu> Open Files... and navigate out to your AIFF file. Make sure the drop down list at the bottom of the window has All Files listed (instead of just Audio or just Video). If you don't show all files, it will gray out files it doesn't recognize. Once you have your audio clip selected, click Open.
From the File Menu > Export Audio... choose AIFF and under Sample rate: choose 48kHz. Click OK
Save the clip to the Desktop, maybe give it a different name (say #2 added to the end).  Quit MPEG Streamclip. In iMovie drag your new AIFF file to the project timeline.

  • Move all audio track anchors at one time together

Move all audio track anchors at one time together..is this possible? I imported a remix, figured out the tempo. Now I want to make the tracks ( regions) all start on a downbeat to align with my measures..thx in advance for your assistance..

    > How do you do that?
I'd begin by reading the Beat Mapping Track section in the Reference manual, p. 337...
    > They are not referencing anything.
Oh, yes, they are: these anchors actually reference the first sample to be played... Presumably, they were recorded to start together and play along, right? When you dragged them, they all landed as new audio regions starting at the beginning of the same bar, since their respective anchors are all aligned at the start of the so-called region. These anchors will stick to the tick they landed to, whatever tempo change you make, unless you move the regions.
    Or maybe you're missing something?...

  • Any way to export QuickTime w/ multiple audio tracks?

I remember seeing QuickTime movies where on playback you can select which audio tracks to listen to. Kind of like director's commentary or different language versions for the same video stream...
Is there a how-to guide for making a movie like this in FCP? We have one video file and multiple audio files that we've placed in different tracks in the timeline but when we export to a QuickTime movie they get all merged together. We tried setting it up with multiple audio channels and then control-clicking to get that menu with each audio track and putting them into the different channels, but there must be something we're missing...
Is this something only FCP 6 can do? I think we have version 5.
    thanks!

I'm a little rusty on this - and without access to FCP 5 at the immediate moment - but I think the key is to set your sequence to have multiple (as in more than 2) audio outputs, then select Channel-Grouped for audio during the Export via QT Conversion.
If that doesn't work, you could always paste additional audio tracks onto your movie in QT Pro. After all, you'll need to tweak your language settings for audio track in QT Pro.
But where have you seen this implemented to do a Director's commentary-type option? I've read that multiple (discrete) audio tracks work only if they're tagged as different languages and the user's playback system is setup for one of those languages. (But I've been wrong before...)
    And welcome to the forums.

  • Export to Quicktime with multiple Audio Tracks?

    Hi all --
I am on a tight deadline (48 hrs!) to deliver a Quicktime Prores file with 6 audio tracks: ch 1+2 dialog, ch 2+3 music&effects, ch 4+5 stereo mix. I'm working with FCP 6.
Now, I have figured out how to export the FCP 6 project to a Quicktime file with multiple audio tracks (in the Project settings, I specify 3 stereo channels, then I assign each audio track to one of the channels and export everything to a Quicktime file).
However, how can I send a stereo mix to channels 4+5?? FCP only allows me to assign each audio track one but not multiple output channels, and I didn't see a way where I could create a bus.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

Something is being miscounted here. You say you have dialog on 1+2 and then say you have M&E on 2+3? I think you meant to say 3+4 and the stereo mix will be on 5+6. The easiest way to do this is to copy tracks 1-4 to tracks 5-8 by shift-option-dragging them there. Holding option will copy the tracks instead of moving them and holding shift will insure that the tracks will not move earlier or later. Then send 5+6 (dialog) to the 5+6 output (using the info in the above referenced discussion) and send 7+8 (music&effects) also to the 5+6 output. Done.

  • Movies - Multiple audio tracks strange problem

    This is a strange problem.
I have a .mov with 2 audio tracks. One italian (the first and active) and one english. The movie is compatible with ATV.
Using QuickTime Pro I can choose the language while watching the movie.
Using iTunes I see the movie with the first language selected on preferences (cmd+j on QuicTime Pro).
On ATV the same movie plays just English, the second language, and this is quite strange.
Does anyone have the same problem?
    Greetings
      Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Hmm, I don't really know. I have converted the DVD with 128 kbps for the two audio traks (stereo).Sounds like I need to go back and run additional tests. For my first attempt, I used two stereo tracks -- each 128 Kbps @ 44.1 KHz. For latest test used two mono tracks with the first 64 Kbps @ 44.1 KHz (keyed to English) and the second 32 Kbps @ 32 KHz (keyed to Italian).
I create a m4v video, I open with QuickTime Pro and work on the preferences for audio traks, than I save with mov extension.Had assumed we were both using similar strategies to create alternate audio movies here. Basically I create the movie with two audio tracks and then open the "Properties" window, select the first audio track (which is already set for English), set the alternate audio track pop-up for Audio Track 2, select the second audio track, set the language pop-up to Italian for this one, and use the Save As... menu option to create a Fast Sart, Standalone movie in the MOV container.
In this way I have a perfect double-language movie that, as I told, works perfectly on QuickTime and iTunes.Did have one question though. When you say you have a "perfect double-language movie that ... works perfect on QuickTime and iTunes," are you saying you can change the language in iTunes while the movie is playing? While I have no problem changing language using the "Choose language" menu command in the QT player, I have yet to be able to find a way to do this while playing in iTunes.
UPDATE: to temporally solve the problem I have changed the infos on movie properties. Calling the English audio track "Holland" (or any other language that is listed after Italian) I have solved the problem. On Tv, iTunes and Quicktime I can hear the "default" language (italian) and, just changing again the properties, I cand hear the second language.I think we are doing the same thing only I did not bother/have to use and additial language setting to get this to work.
In this case Audio Track 2 (Italian) is the default.
In this case Audio Track 1 (English) is the default.
Thus, for my test, I created two separate movies with each defaulted differently and played them back in each program/device to see which audio track played. In each case it was the "checked" default audio track and changing the "Language" setting for TV to Italian had no effect.

  • Change a movie's audio track name

Hi guys! My first post here)
So my problem is the following. I have downloaded a few series of a TV show I watch now. Each video has two audio tracks: Russian and English. However in each video they both are titled as "unknown language" track. It would be so much easier for me if there was a way to rename them into proper "Russian" and "English".
Hope that someone knows how to solve this.

  • Exporting quicktime with 4 audio tracks for broadcast

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to do this? i need to get a program out to a broadcast quicktime file with sync on 1&2 and M&E on 3&4, i have the sequence setup correctly as did a digi playout for the same thing which was fine. However, if i do 'export quicktime' with sequence settings i only get two audio chanels. If i go to quicktime conversion then all the drop down menus for multiple audio chanels are greyed out.
    Any ideas?
    Best,
    GK

if i do 'export quicktime' with sequence settings i only get two audio chanels
how are up you assessing this? QT Player has only 2 playback channels and additional channels will be mixed down to those ... but if you press Cmd-J to open the movie properties you should see all 4 channels are there, or if you reimport your exported file back into FCP you'll see it contain the 4 audio tracks as exported ... if not then your export settings are not correct :/

  • Exporting Keynote to Quicktime movie with audio

I am struggling to get this to work although I have done so previously. I have a fully functioning keynote with an embedded quicktime movie and an audio file. The Keynote works fine.
When I try to export it I just get the audio file!! I am opting for 'manual' even thought the Keynote is a looped production without the need for any manual input.
    Any ideas? thanks

Exporting to Quicktime with sound seems to have been restored ok in Keynote 09 as I have just tested it on the trial download copy. Up until then I have been importing into Garage Band without sound and adding it there which is successful but I think the quality of picture is better with only one step i.e within Keynote itself.

  • Exporting Quicktime with discreet audio tracks

How in FCP do you export a quicktime file with more than two channels of audio that are discreet?

    Hi -
    For FCP 7:
    Click on your timeline.
Type Command - 0 (Zero) and click on the Audio Outputs Tab.
Change the number of outputs you want, and set the track pairs up as stereo or dual mono, as you want.
Click OK, a warning dialog box will come up that you can dismiss.
On the timeline, Option-Click on each audio track right below the auto-select toggle icon, and from the drop down menu, route the track to the desired output track.
When done, export the Quicktime movie.
The only way you will verify that all the tracks are there is to either open the exported quicktime in Quicktime pro and menu Window > Show Movie Properties. You'll see the additional tracks listed there -OR- just import the exported movie back into FCP and bring it up in the Viewer, you'll see all the audio tracks.
Make sure you restore your sequence back to two channel ouput, if you want, when you are done.
    Hope this helps.

  • HD read-write problems recording more of 16 audio tracks

I've a strange problem that i don't have in digital performer with rosetta!
When i record more of 5-6 track...for example 16...when i stop the registration....logic is blocked for 30-40 seconds....and then it begin to create overview!
in this time i've see the hd read and write at 5 mb/sec....
It isn't normal!!! I've tried all the settings of audio driver and buffer....but nothing change
    anybody can help me?!?
p.s. sorry for my bad english!

    1 : Waht sample Rate are u using -
2 : I have disk Journaling on and record @ 96KHZ - and can do 64 tracks simoultaneously (split on 4 drives)
3 : Is your recording drive very fragmented if so defragment it
4 : Dont EVER record to your system drive - too much activity going on there
5 : Set your Max Recording time to 10 minutes in the "Set record path" dialog in Logic ( If you have not set the max rec. time Logic will "Freeze" all available space on the disk for the recording and that can lead to problems especially if u aint using a dedicated hard drive to wirte your audio to
6 : it is very important to have a dedicated drive to record audio to - being an internal SATA or Firewire 400/800 - as long as this drive is being used to record only...This has solved many problems for me...

  • Mplayer quicktime mov no audio

So I tried to build mplayer from ABS and added --enable-qtx (as per ./configure --help) to the PKGBUILD, but that causes the build to fail giving this:

So I made sure that I had community/libquicktime and the codecs packages installed but I'm not sure what else to do...
it appears im missing some kind of quicktime header file and/or codec.
    Any ideas?

  • Can you export a Quicktime with multiple audio tracks?

I have a video with split audio tracks.
I'd like to archive a copy that retains all the individual tracks so that other people could just open the file later and not have to reconstruct the tracks (i could certainly archive all the tracks individually).
the problem i'm having is that FCP seems to only want to allow me to export 2 tracks of audio. I may be missing a setting, but i'm not sure.
I can digitize a clip from a digibeta with 4+ tracks, and when i open the clip in QT, it recognizes the individual tracks, so it seems as if the capabilities are there.
have they just not been integrated yet?

Something is being miscounted here. You say you have dialog on 1+2 and then say you have M&E on 2+3? I think you meant to say 3+4 and the stereo mix will be on 5+6. The easiest way to do this is to copy tracks 1-4 to tracks 5-8 by shift-option-dragging them there.
