Record television show to Macbook Pro

Hey everyone.
There is a show tomorrow on my television and I really want to record it to my Macbook Pro.
I don't know how to record from tv to my Macbook Pro. It's my first time.
I just got my Macbook, a tv and this mini-display port(Mini-Displayport-Male-to-Male-Cable-with-Gold-Plated-up-to-10-8gbps-Video-Bandwi dth.jpg)
Do I need some software or some cable or some other thing to do this recording?
I really want the easiest and cheapiest method to this recording.
thank you.

If you read the website, the instructions are there.
In a nutshell, you need to purchase a TV tuner and the software.  The tuner is inserted in a USB port and connected to cable or an external TV antenna via a coaxial cable.  The software will allow you to record a TV program which creates a file.  That file can be viewed again and if you wish, edited to remove sections that one might not want.  It will record and play HD TV.
I have a slightly older version of this:

  • Voice recording on a 2011 MacBook Pro?

How do I make a voice recording on a 2011 MacBook Pro?

I've upgraded the same model to Mavericks without any issues or problems. If you are worried, then make a backup before you upgrade. Simple enough precaution. If you find you cannot access your external data drives, then erase the internal drive and restore your backup. You can make a cloned backup using the Restore option in Disk Utility which will also clone the Recovery HD that you would need should you decide to restore the backup.

  • Recording external camera to macbook pro

I have a Canon Vixia camcorder connected to my MacBook Pro by HDMI through a Blackmagic converter.
I would like to record video directly to my harddrive.
I tried Photo Booth and it sees video from my internal webcam.  The Blackmagic shows up under Camera, but no picture.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Are you putting that mic in front of an amp? You should specify what that "good (expensive) mic" is (condenser? dynamic), but you'll probably have an even harder problem getting its sound into the computer, since mic level is lower than line level.
I'd suggest trying to plug the Strat in directly and play with GB's amp models. If you can't get enough level, you should pre-amp the guitar, for example with a mixing console, or get an audio interface.

  • Hi how do i get video to show on macbook pro i only have audio playing

You are going to have to give us a lot more information than that.  We need to know what MacBook Pro you have.  What version of OSX (these things should be in your profile).  What are you trying to do.  What program.  What kind of video.  We are completely incapable of guessing what's going on, so if you want an answer, you need to give us information.

  • Apple TV wants to transfer TV shows to MacBook Pro and I don't want it to

I have purchased a large number TV shows directly on my Apple TV. Every time I launch iTunes it attempts to sync with my Apple TV. The Apple TV programs try to copy over to my itunes but I do not have enough free space on my MacBook Pro to hold all those TV shows. Is there a way to avoid all my Apple TV shows from copying over to my iTunes? Also, if I delete any shows that have copied over to my iTunes, will they then delete on my Apple TV? And lastly, when I turn of TV Show syncing on my iTunes, it says that all TV shows will be deleted on my Apple TV. Do I risk losing all my TV shows on my Apple TV if I just turn off TV show syncing on my iTunes?
Thank you for your help with this.

Go into Settings, then Computers, find your, click on it and it will ask if you want to remove it. Choose yes. The add it back with only stream option (should be pretty clear how).
Note, anything on the AppleTV will be erased when you remove it as a syncing computer so make sure all you have IS in your main library.
Once set to syncing, then anything you buy via the AppleTV will just stay on the AppleTV but note, you have no backup thus if it fills up you will have to delete or if anything goes wrong and you have to restore the AppleTV you will lose all on it.
Sorry you were unclear that the AppleTV was not meant as a backup storage and that it just was meant to have copies of your main library and that you are responsible for storage and backups. Once you get into wanting to store tv shows and movies, it is almost a given you will need to buy a new HD (most buy external ones) for your computer to have your library on. My 1TB drive is filling up fast now.

  • Recording Satelite program to macbook pro

    Hello,
Can I record video/audio from a satelite receiver using it's Dvi/Toslink outputs into a Macbook pro?
Does Apple have any type of software to support this?
Could I have the Laptop wake up at a certain time and record whats coming in from it's Inputs, to a certain folder?
It seems silly to me to buy a PVR when Apple is so Media friendly.
    thanks for your help,
    Vance

  • Apple TV icon is not showing on macbook pro after update to Mountain lion

I wanted to try Mirroring from my macbook pro to my tv using the new airplay update from Mountain lion but the icon is not showing after the update.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). It also requires the computer to be using wi-fi.

  • Getting a more complex recording chain into a macbook pro?

    Hey guys,
I have been writing and producing tracks for myself and others for a few years on some pretty modest gear. First I had a little Tascam US-122. Moved on the a Firepod after that. Currently I am using the Apogee Duet which has been by far the nicest of all of these interfaces. All of these devices connected to my MBP via USB 2.0 of FW400. I have a really simple practice of hooking a mic into the interface, hooking the interfaces into the MBP and hitting record and then mixing tracks. After a year of using the Duet I am ready to try out a new signal chain. Something a little more fancy.
I am going to try and go the more traditional (expensive) route. I am looking at getting these componets:
    A 2-channel preamp - Chandler Limited TG-2.
    A 2-channel limiter/compressor - UA 2-1176
A/D converter - not sure which one yet but not going to use my Duet as I want something with at least 8 channels of high quality ADC so I can expand later.
Here's my problem... I don't know how to get a signal from any of this gear into a MBP. I know this much about the chain:
    live instrument > microphone > preamp > comp/limiter (optional) > A/D converter > ??? > Logic Pro
What is the missing link? A mixing board or something? With the chain I am wanting what are my options? Would this chain be more sound running into a mac pro?

Cool thread! I hope you don't mind if I jump in. I too am looking to upgrade my chain, and am thinking of doing almost the exact same thing as you. I am currently using the Apogee Duet and am ordering a Chandler TG-2 and UA 2-1176. I really like the Duet and never really use more than two mics. I was wondering if it was possible to use the 2-1176 for final mix limiting. Tell me if this is crazy, but instead of using a limiter plugin to give me that final mix boost, could I run the outputs of the Duet (which I normally send to the monitors) into the 2-1176 as the input and then run out of the 2-1176 into the inputs of the Duet? Would this cause some kind of glitch in the matrix or would it work? I would love to stick with the Duet if possible. Any advice would be greatly apprecaited!

  • Sent mail from iPhone doesn't show on Macbook Pro

I recently update my Mac to Mountain Lion and my iPhone to iOS6. The mail app on my mac won't show the emails I sent from my iPhone. Is there a way to enable this?

It is, I used to be able to see all mail sent from all my devices on the old mail app. I can only see the messages I have sent from my Mac.

  • HDMI not showing on macbook pro

Last night tried to connect MBP to Technosonic TV using HDMI cable directly to tv, through video player and even changed the cable but still the tv was not recognised. Any ideas will be appreciated. Many thanks.

OK, I have the same model (8,2) and I use this adapter. It works fine to my TV and through my reciever to my TV, as well. Have you gone through the Displays in System Preferences and tried to 'find' the display? That's how I get mine working...

  • Want to use my voice recorder with my MacBook Pro

I have Olympus Voice-Trek V-11 and want to use it. The problem is that it's no longer supported by Mac. I use MacBook Pro with OS X 10.8.5. I appreciate it very much if anyone knows what should I do to make my voice recorder usable with my MacBook Pro?
In other words, I'm looking for something like Apache's Open Office to  MS office suit.
I appreciate anyone's help very much!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
To do what you want, do not use Migration Assistant. You will damage OS X. Instead, you need to erase the hard drive, remove everything from your MacBook Pro and restore the Time Machine backup, so you will be upgrading to OS X Mountain Lion.
It is as simple as holding down Command and R keys while your computer is starting up. Then, connect the external drive with the Time Machine backup, choose the option to transfer a Time Machine backup and follow the steps in the display.
As you will lose everything you have in the MacBook Pro, you may want to make a backup of its files first.

  • I have imported a Digital recording onto my Macbook Pro 10.6 and want to burn it to disc on Itunes but the file has gone to Quicktime. How do I transfer it?

I have imported a digital recording on to my MacBook Pro 10.6. I want to move it to Itunes so that I can burn a CD but although I have created a new playlist, Itunes won't accept the file and instead it has gone to Quicktime and I can't transfer it or burn a CD. I have installed a Flip4Mac Upgrade but still no luck. I have managed to transfer previous files and burn CDs before so am not sure what the problem is.

This file type is not supported by iTunes. I would recommend converting the file (I use convertfiles.com, but there are many choices) to MP3. It then can be added to iTunes.

  • Hello, this might be a basic question, but how do you open QuickTime to record a new webinar? I have a new MacBook Pro with Yosemite and can only get QuickTime to appear in Finder but not actually open to allow me to record something new. Thx.
