RECORD TEST CASE

Hi guys,
I am trying to record a transaction for test case, it was showing me error RELEASE HIGHER THAN 6.20 ARE NOT PERMITTED.
pls explain me if there any setting need to be done to resolve issue?

Thank you very much for the response.
I will email you the screen shots since I can not attach them to this post.
You will see in the screen shots that I don't see either a green or red light after I have clicked on the record topic icon from UPK Developer. Even after I put focus on the title bar of the app I am recording and press the printscreen button, there is no green or red light.
But now, when I do press the printscreen button, UPK does actual record something. That is further than I have gotten before.
Before I posted the forum, I was not able to record anything after several attempts and also several re-installations. But I was told that if I don't see the green or red light, I won't be able to record anything.
I am now wondering if the use of Hypersnap 6 could be impacting UPK? I use Hypersnap a lot and when I pressed the printscreen button, Hypersnap also takes a screenshot.
My question now is whether the lack of green and red lights will impact my use of UPK?

Problem at the time of Implementing Text Matching Test Case in OFT

hi,
I had add Text Matching Test Case on login of the application for the username and password. and If the Test Case fail on that screen,then it should not allow to go further in the application.
As currently at the time of Playback, it is allowing to go further and in the Result Report it display the case failed.

Actually my ques is that suppose at the time of recording i enter the username as abcd and password as 123.
When the recording is done . I Insert a Text Matching test case for both the username and password where i put the condition for the username that select text should be present as "def" . And the Test Case failed .
So i want to know that if the test case failed on Login. Whether it should be move forward at the time of playback?

How to edit test case document?

In SOLAR02 transaction, we are uploading the test case documents in the test cases tab. 
 
Later we can create test plans & test packages. These test packages once assigned to the tester, it comes in the worklist of the tester. 
 
The tester while testing the test cases, can record the test results from the test workbench using the traffic light symbolled icon. 
 
But, my requirement is to edit the test case document and to give some explanation about what all went right and what all went wrong. 
Is that possible? 
 
Any inputs in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

This depends on your support package level. But at least in one of the latest support packages this was made possible. You need to make a little customizing in transaction STWB_SET. Under "Notes" you must mark "Use test document". This means that in STWB_WORK when you add a note for a specific test case then a copy is made of your test script in which you can then enter results. This is then done without editing the test script template document.
If this customizing is not available then you have to apply the latest solman 7.0 support packages.

Now test plan documents can be opened in STWB_WORK and edited there. Remark is that in creating the test plan (STWB_2), Test note drop down list should have the same value as the test document in Test cases tab (SOLAR02).
Would it be possible also to open test documents (Word, Excel, etc) in STWB_WORK in full screen somehow? That was not yet managed to be done.
Me personally haven't tried it yet, as I have to finish some other jobs first, but I thought it would be nice to share the info

CATT Test case for ME41 tcode(Multiple items for inventory and service )

Now we are having quotation legacy file for Tcode ME41 for inventory and service items. We are using tcode SCAT
for CATT. Every thing going fine at recording in test case. i dont know where should i specify my legacy file path. I found there is one download option while before running test case. its not taking the file path. is there any other file path for running test case?

I think you should use an abap program and not LSMW, because the problem is you have to create a recording for trx ME41 in the LSMW and after you can't change the abap code created.
In this way you could insert only a certain number of items by a project of LSMW, and it depends on your recording.
So if you can't know how many item should be loaded, it's very hard to use LSMW.

Error whil re-playing the coded ui test cases for internet explorer download window

Hi,
I have to create a test automation project which opens the IE and downloads file.
I have recorded all the steps to download the file to local folder.
My requirement is I need to download the file to a specific folder and compare those files.
When I tried to replay the recorded step I am getting error while changing the folder location.
I can change the file name dynamically but cant change the folder path as the click event of address bar fails.
I have recorded below steps
Click on Save drop down
Click on Save As
Pop up opens as shown
I can change the file name at run tims by passing the file name as parameter and it is accepting
but when I try to change the address it thorws error stating could not find the control with given search properties. I have to pass the folder path as parameter to the test case.
Please help me in resolving this error.

According to your description, could you please tell me how you record these UI actions for coded UI test? Is it handing code or using coded UI test Builder?
Could you please tell me if you are recording these actions and then you change the folder location or you change the folder location by handing code after you finished these actions recording and then get the error?
About your issue, I tried to download file to a specific folder using coded UI test builder, I found that it can playback successfully.
If you are hand coding your coded UI test, I suggest that you can try to record these steps using Coded UI Test Builder. Then
generate the code and then try to playback check if you can download the file into the
specific folder.
In addition, about this error: could not find the control with given search properties. I doubt that the target control did not be found by the searchproperties.
So I suggest you can try to add more searchproperties for the target control check this issue again.
I suggest you can also use DrawHighlight Method to check if the correct control is found
before you perform actions on the target control.

How do you have a single test case run on multiple platforms in both a Deploy/Test build and via MTM?

I am wanting to have a scheduled nightly build execute my testcases for multiple platforms/configurations. I have multiple VMs running in these environments but the method Microsoft provided
(without digging into customizing the build template) doesn't provide any functionality for this. This is a basic use case for automation that I can't believe they would miss. Has anyone run into this and found a solution. Is it just that
you have to completely customize the template?
For a more complete use case...
I have 4 customers that have different configurations and different OS platforms on top of a generic configuration. I want the build/deploy/test build to automatically run my 152 test
cases to at minimum those 5 environments. I want this to run every morning at 1am and the tests should in the different environments in parallel (ie all of customer 1 tests run at the same time as customer 2 tests...). I also don't want to have to create
152 * 5 test cases since that will bloat things and cause more management/maintenance headaches.

Sequences - Test Organzer: How to move more than 1 test case at a time

Hello,
I would like to be able to move multiple test cases within a sequence but I do not know how. If I highlight multiple rows and select Move Test Case only 1 of the rows will move. This is fine if your test package only has a few transactions but if you have many it becomes very time consuming.
Does anyone know how to move more than one test case at a time within a sequence?

Actually I do not have any solution for that either. I am also only able to move the test cases one by one, which indeed can become very time consuming. There I have a small question to you: when I am in the web-based application to change the sequence of the test cases, everything goes really slow. Selecting the test package in the browser, going to change mode, selecting the test cases, creating a test sequence...it all takes time before I can continue. Is it the same with you? Else I will need to look at what is going wrong on our side.

Error encountered while running a test case using MTM

Hello,
Has anyone encountered this error while running a test case using MTM 2013?
When I click on OK, the message is again shown until that time wherein the popup error is no longer shown.
When I try to continue to the next pages wherein a modal is being open and I need to enter some data on a text field, the IE would stop working and seems to crash.

Base on the error message, the error is threw by internet explorer.
Does it have the same issue when access that web site/page in IE directly or it just occurs when run tests through MTM?
What’s the version of your browser? You may try it with other browser and check whether it has same issue.

Looks like the Spring listener was not configured for your web app!
Nothing will work until WebApplicationContextUtils returns a valid ApplicationContext.
You might need to add the following to web.xml:

I guess it wasn't reading the right web.xml file.
You may prove it by deleting your web.xml file (don't forget to make a backup), and then run the test again to see whether the error is the same.

Looks like the Spring listener was not configured for your web app!
Nothing will work until WebApplicationContextUtils returns a valid ApplicationContext.
You might need to add the following to web.xml:
 <listener>
 <listener-class>org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoaderListener</listener-class>
 </listener> But already i have the listener configurations in my web.xml .

I guess it wasn't reading the right web.xml file.
You may prove it by deleting your web.xml file (don't forget to make a backup), and then run the test again to see whether the error is the same.
