Record timeline to mini-dv?

How do i take my timeline and record it to my mini-dv deck?

Edit to tape allows you to do audio and video insert editing. This is handy if you need to add something to an existing master.
Print to video really just plays back the timeline, but it allows you to add bars and tone, and a few other options. It also won't let you playback until it has rendered all audio and video and done an audio mixdown, all contributing to proper, stable playback.
When using PTV do your own audio mixdown. If you let PTV do it, it does not save the file and has to redo it everytime you PTV which can be very time consuming.

  • Recording timeline playback to external DVR without printing to video

I am having trouble recording timeline playback to an external Panasonic DVR via firewire. Do I need some sort of convertor to make it work? I've also tried going through a DV camera and then to the DVR, but it drops frames like crazy. Most of my projects are about 2+ hours, and I don't have time to compress and burn internally. Help!
    G5 Quadcore   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

With both my Panasonic and Ben-Q DVRs, I cannot actually record to disk thru the FW from the computer. I pass thru my DV deck.
I find that I first have to export the Sequence as a Quicktime Movie (not self contained works fine) then bring that into the Viewer and just play it from there. I don't actually use Print to Tape for this, I just play it from the Viewer
This generally has worked fine but once in a while I get sync issues

  • How can I transfer a video recording from iPad Mini to PC?

    Hello Good People,
I've got an iPad Mini running ios 7.1.2.
I've got a Windows laptop running Windows 7 with iTunes 11.3.1.2.
I recorded a video of an interview with my elderly mother which I want to transfer to my laptop for editing and saving for the family.
I'd like to use Sync but Sync scares me every time I look at it that it will start erasing things from one place or another.  Looks like the unstated assumption is "Sync" from PC to iDevice, not the direction I want to go.
So, I've done the google searching and haven't found anyone answering this issue but I've found dozens of adds from third party software I can buy to do what apple should provide for as a foundational, basic capability which leads me to think that they have purposefully not given people this capability for some reason.  The iPad Mini also doesn't appear in Windows Explorer so I can't find the videos myself.
Anyone have a blessedly simple way I'm just not seeing?  Is it safe to use Sync and not lose this precious video forever after it flashes its warning of erasing things?
    Thank you!
    Jim

Okay, I figured out that Windows has "AutoPlay" settings which can automatically download photos and videos from a newly connected device, such as an iPad Mini.  I think I could open it in Windows Explorer too that way but the auto download solved my problem.

  • Audio hum in recording on my Mini?

I just recently got the $799 Mac Mini version and when I record audio in Garage Band 3 or other audio apps I get a steady hum on the recording. I am using a powered MXL 990 mic through a mixer and then into the audio in on the Mini. The vocal recording sounds ok, except for this steady hum. I have plugged the Mini into a completely different circuit and it still happens. I have tweaked settings on the mixer, doesn't seem to matter. Any thoughts folks?

I've gone to the manufacturer's site, and the closest thing I can come up with to your part number is:
    UB1002
    http://www.behringer.com/UB1002/index.cfm?lang=ENG
They have online manuals and FAQ listings.
From their FAQ, I found this statement which mirrors most of what has been said, but also mentions where they suggest connecting from in relation to connecting it to a computer.
Read it over, and see if anything useful jumps out:
We recommend using the main outputs of the mixer to send signal to the inputs of the computer or soundcard. You will need to investigate which type of audio connector your soundcard uses, and you will probably need to obtain some adapter cables. You should be using the "line" level inputs on the soundcard. Be careful not to use the soundcard's microphone input, you might get some signal but it will not sound very good !
Depending on the configuration of your mixer, you can use a stereo channel input, a "stereo aux return", or the "tape in" connectors to feed the output of the soundcard back into the desk. As before, you will need to use the correct type of adapter cable. It is essential to check the routing of this input, otherwise you risk creating a feedback loop. You should refer to the instruction manual of the mixer for more details about routing the inputs.
To monitor your recording, your console is equipped with an extra output section, which is labelled "control room / phones". This output section has it's own level control, and it's own routing switches. Certain models are also equipped with a "pfl/solo" function - which opens up more flexible monitoring possibilities. This function is explained in more detail in the instruction manual.
With regard to the main supply of electricity - it is a very good idea to use a multiple connector socket to supply power to all audio devices, including the computer and screen, from one mains receptacle. The majority of domestic supplies will deliver the necessary current. This layout will reduce the likelihood of creating earth loops in the audio system. Computer monitor screens should be kept away from audio devices like active loudspeakers or electric guitars. If you still cannot eliminate mains hum - you should connect a DI box in the audio path between the mixer and the soundcard.
Please note the "Quick Guide" links below. Though they are model-specific, much of the theory will apply to many of our mixer products.
The rest of their FAQ's are at:
    http://behringer-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/behringeren.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php?p_prodlvl1=117
Another thought I had, is that it is possible that your hum is being introduced with your adapter going to the computer.
So, you should make sure that that connection is made with high-quality gold contacts and shielded cables Pro-level cables.
One thing I would try, is to disconnect the mixer from the computer, and plug in head-phones to the mixer. See if there is a hum in the line with the head-phones (there should be a head-phone jack on most mixers).
Also, turn down (or off) any line that you are not actively using.
    Hope this helps you out.

  • How can i record my ipad mini?

Is there a way to record your ipad without jailbreak because i don't want to jailbreak it??

If you mean recording the screen, then the only way to record the screen would be with a video camera or to use one of the apps such as Reflector that uses AirPlay Mirroring to display the iPad's screen on your computer where you can then use screen capture software to capture the iPad's display.

  • During msync download of 1327205 records takes 18 mins but the processing then takes 1 hr 20 mins

I do an msync of a mobile database server using Oracle Database Lite 10 g.  It downloads1327205 records in 18 minutes but then in the processing step it takes 1 hr 20 minutes.  Is there anyway to track why its taking so long?  Any hints on speeding up this process?  Is there some way to profile it?
    Thanks
    Sorflex

    Hi Sorflex,
You can try to improve the Processing performance using the Polite.ini parameter in the [SYNC] section:
    AUTO_COMMIT_COUNT
Invoke the auto commit count feature for publication items that use manual synchronization. If this parameter is set to 0, Oracle Database Lite calls a commit at the end of processing for each publication.
When the number of records in a transaction is greater than the AUTO_COMMIT_COUNT, then a commit is issued at that time. This occurs only on the first synchronization, complete refresh, or a low memory condition. However, for the fast refresh option, if the auto commit is performed, then a data mismatch will happen between client and server.
During synchronization when AUTO_COMMIT_COUNT is set, the user should not add, update, or delete a database record.
If this parameter is set to 1000, Oracle Database Lite calls commits for every 1000 inserts. This value should be more than 100.
    Regards.
    Marc

  • [10g] Simple question on selecting a column in same record as a min value

I have the following sample data to illustrate my question:
    CREATE TABLE     t_1
    (     c_a     VARCHAR2(1)
    ,     c_b     NUMBER(2)
    ,     c_c     DATE
    INSERT INTO     t_1
    VALUES('A',1,SYSDATE);
    INSERT INTO     t_1
    VALUES('A',2,SYSDATE+1);
    INSERT INTO     t_1
    VALUES('A',3,SYSDATE+2);
    INSERT INTO     t_1
    VALUES('A',4,SYSDATE+3);
    INSERT INTO     t_1
    VALUES('B',3,SYSDATE+6);
    INSERT INTO     t_1
    VALUES('B',4,SYSDATE+7);
    INSERT INTO     t_1
VALUES('B',5,SYSDATE+8);I have the following query which allows me to select the value of c_c that corresponds with the minimum value of c_b grouped by c_a. In other words, my goal is: for each value in c_a, I want the value of c_c that corresponds with the minimum value of c_b.
    SELECT     t1.c_a
    ,     t1.c_c
    FROM     t_1 t1
         SELECT      c_a
         ,      MIN(c_b)     AS min_c_b
         FROM      t_1
         GROUP BY c_a
         ) t2
    WHERE     t1.c_a     = t2.c_a
    AND     t1.c_b     = t2.min_c_b
;This query works, but I'm wondering if there is a more efficient way to do this. Something without a subquery? I can't come up with anything else... It just gets a bit ugly with my real data, as there are probably 10 columns of data instead of 3. (Still only 1 minimum value though).

    Hi,
Since you're using Oracle 10, you can do this:
    SELECT       c_a
    ,       MIN (c_c) KEEP (DENSE_RANK FIRST ORDER BY c_b)     AS c_of_min_b
    FROM       t_1
    GROUP BY  c_a
;This won't work in earlier versions.
What do you want in case of a tie?
For example, if we add one more row to the sample data:
    INSERT INTO     t_1 (c_a,  c_b,  c_c)
VALUES ('A',  1,    DATE '2001-01-01');Now there are two rows, one dated today and one dated 2001, that have an equal claim to being the "first" in group 'A', since they have the exact same value of c_b.
The query above would display the row from 2001, that is, the earliest of the contenders. That's what MIN means in the query above. Instead of MIN, you can use any aggregate function, but, of course, that function has to work on your data type.
If you want to show all the contenders in case of a tie, then you can stick with your original query, or you could use the analytic RANK function.
    WITH     got_rnk          AS
         SELECT     c_a, c_c
         ,     RANK () OVER ( PARTITION BY  c_a
                               ORDER BY          c_b
                        )   AS rnk
         FROM    t_1
    SELECT     c_a, c_c
    FROM     got_rnk
    WHERE     rnk     = 1
;This approach requires a sub-query, because analytic functions (like RANK) are computed after the WHERE clause is applied. If we want to use the results of an anlytic func tion in a WHERE clause, we have to compute the function in a suib-query first.

  • No sound from Video Recording on iPad Mini

    Hi All Apple users,
Just need to check how do i troubleshoot this problem.
I can hear the sound from videos from all other websites and other playback apps.
but when i tried recording a video, the sound just did not project out from my recordings.
it is a mic problem? because i had no problems before. it just so happened one fine day...

why can't you record your video ?

  • Minimizing Mini-Bridge & Timeline in Photoshop CS6

Quick question that I can't figure out.  How do I minimize the Mini-Bridge and Timeline in Photoshop CS6?  I have draged the window section as far down as possible.  But, I have seen some PS6 screenshots were the timeline and mini-bridge lay flush with the bottom of the screen.  And, once I do minimize them, how do I bring them back up again?
    Thanks!
    Kirsten

    Hello again!
Have you tried double-clicking on the panel tabs? Tha tabs display the names of the panels (Timeline and Mini-Bridge)
This should minimize the panels - to open them, you can just double click the tabs again.
Please post again if you have additional questions
    Cheers!

  • Best mini-dvd recorder for Mac?

    Hello,
I have a Sony mini-dv recorder that uses mini tapes. I would like to purchase a new digital recorder that uses mini DVD's so I don't have to transfer from tape and can just pop the mini dvd into the mac dvd reader. Is this possible? I have a friend who tried with a Sony with no luck. what is the best brand compatible with Macs?
    Thank you.

MiniDVDs and MiniDiscs have little or no support on the Mac platform. Best to steer clear of any device that uses them if your sole working platform is a Mac.
Keep in mind that any device that records to a DVD, such as a MiniDVD recorder, is compressing the content far more than if you just captured your footage on tape. The content is already being formatted for playback on a DVD player as you record it, thus it's like skipping the whole editing/formatting process altogether. In theory, all you have to do is plop the disc into a set-top DVD player and hit play.

  • Mini DV/DVC pro recorder recommendations.... FCP 6

So, I've got 6 up and running, edited stuff, made some DVD's, some motion graphics (still not bold enough to play in COLOR yet...) but it won't recognize my Canon XL2 or GL2...
Which is no big deal.... (but if you have suggestions (I've trashed prefs and canned/re-installed Qtime7.x, I'm all ears (or eyes).
I also recently acquired a Matrox MXO...was wondering if any of you guys can recommend a fairly inexpensive MiniDV/DVCPRO recorder to output to for broadcast of SD stuff.
There are so many..thought i'd ask the pro's.. .(hoping this solves my PRINT TO VIDEO issues as FCP6 does not recognize the camcorders...).
    Thanks
    Mark

I have a DSR-11 for sale. Less than 2 hours on the record head!
It plays& records NTSC/PAL Mini-DV and DVCAM. If you need DVCPro, then your looking to spend some money.

  • No audio (only video) on external DV device when playing timeline

I have recently switched from using Premiere 1.5 to Premiere CS3, two days ago.
Before I installed the new Premiere CS3 software, I had the basic DV configuration for my system.
Sony MINI DV deck--talks to computer via firewire
--talks to output monitor via RCA cables
Computer--talks to Sony MINI DV deck (via same firewire)
    --talks to external HD
    --external standard computer speakers
I was editing on Premiere 1.5 and this enabled me to capture as well as playback the timeline, so that the timeline would show up in my Sony MINI DV deck (as well as output monitor, if turned on) and I could record onto MINI DV tapes.
I just installed Premiere CS3 two days ago and have not changed anything in my setup configuration. I WAS not able to get video until I clicked on the record monitor and changed my playback settings. NOW I can see the timeline play back in my Sony MINI DV deck and I can record onto a MINI DV BUT now I still do not have any Audio.
I have played with the various possibilities in the "playback settings" dialogue box but I am still unable to hear any audio on the MINI DV deck, nor on the tape when I play it back.

    Than you Jim!
I have been using AVID for the past nearly four years and the past three months is my first time with Adobe NLE software and I have yet to learn all of its quirks! You have NO idea how much I appreciate it! I'm currently serving as a military news broadcaster, in Iraq, and I had a story deadline to meet this afternoon. Thank you again!

  • Entire frame of mini-dv video clips do NOT show in the iMovie '11 viewer in playback mode

I am editing a wedding video in iMovie11 that was recorded on a mini dv tape.  When I move video clips from the event library to the timeline, the entire frame is displayed in the timeline.  However, the entire frame of the video clip does NOT show in the iMovie viewer or when I playback the video.  I exported the video and burned it to a dvd using Toast 11 pro.  The video recorded to the dvd as it was showing in the iMovie viewer... the full frame does not show.  I would certainly appreciate any advice as to how to solve my problem.  THANK YOU!!!

Is your video shot in 16:9 aspect ratio or 4:3?
You can go to File/Project Properties and set the aspect ratio for the project.
When you get a clip that does not match the project's aspect ratio, you use the Rotate, Crop, Ken Burns tool on the middle toolbar to specify how it should be treated.
FIT will place the entire clip in the movie, and will letterbox (black bars) so that it fits.
CROP will fill the screen, but will cut off the top and bottom of your frame.

  • Recording Macbook audio on Garageband for a podcast

Me and a friend have started a gaming podcast and I can't work out if I'm able to record audio playing on my Macbook pro directly into the recording.
A basic example would be to play a video on Youtube and have the audio from that record whilst being able to talk over the audio using microphones. It would also be nice to be able to play the audio introducing each segment and not have to worry about dragging the pre recorded files into the timeline.
An alternative would be to play the audio on an ipad and have that record using a mini jack cable plugged into the headphone/mic input on the Macbook.
Can this be done? I don't seem to be able to find anything using Google.
    I'm using Garageband 11 (ver 6.0.5)
    Macbook Pro 13" Early 2011
    OSX Maveriks 10.9.3
    Many Thanks

Download a free (great app) called Soundflower, which enables routing audio from one app to another.
When you install this app you get new virtual audio inputs and outputs in your operating system called soundflower 2ch and soundflower 64ch. For most purposes you'd use the 2ch option. Go to system preferences>sound>output and set it to soundflower 2ch.
Now your audio from youtube etc. goes into this virtual output rather than to your speakers or headphones (so you won't hear it just yet). Next in Garageband, open up the preferences dialog box and go to the audio/midi tab. Set the input to soundflower 2ch (now GB is getting the audio sent in from the other end of the soundflower virtual channel) but if you want to hear what's going on make sure the output is set to either headphones port, internal speaker, or something that you'll be able to listen to.
    Soundflower is available at
