Record TV to Macbook

Hello all,
Maybe it is a silly question, but is it possible to record from the TV to the Macbook?
Thanks

I use an Elgato EyeTV 200. The EyeTV soft that comes with it allows you to record just like you would with a standalone VHS or whatever.
There are many advantages when it comes to editing and exporting. I love it.

Deleting the application from your /Applications folder is sufficient. There are sample projects in /Library/Application/Aperture you may want to get rid of as well, as they take up a fair bit of space.

  • Want to use my voice recorder with my MacBook Pro

I have Olympus Voice-Trek V-11 and want to use it. The problem is that it's no longer supported by Mac. I use MacBook Pro with OS X 10.8.5. I appreciate it very much if anyone knows what should I do to make my voice recorder usable with my MacBook Pro?
In other words, I'm looking for something like Apache's Open Office to  MS office suit.
I appreciate anyone's help very much!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
To do what you want, do not use Migration Assistant. You will damage OS X. Instead, you need to erase the hard drive, remove everything from your MacBook Pro and restore the Time Machine backup, so you will be upgrading to OS X Mountain Lion.
It is as simple as holding down Command and R keys while your computer is starting up. Then, connect the external drive with the Time Machine backup, choose the option to transfer a Time Machine backup and follow the steps in the display.
As you will lose everything you have in the MacBook Pro, you may want to make a backup of its files first.

  • How do I download video from my Sony Handycam recorder to my macbook pro ?

How do I download video from my Sony Handcam Video Recorder (DCR-SX44) to my macbook pro, using imovie? Seems like it was meant to work with a PC (lots of info and a CD for PC use...instructions to contact Apple for macs!)  I've saved video to both the internal drive and a SDHC card, but having no luck...

have you tried to follow advice given in the Manual?

  • Recording on new macbook pro

Hello all, Ive searched multiple sites, and have tried all the ways of figuring this out, but its led me here, with hopes you will be able to help. My wife bought me a macbook pro for my DJ gigs I do every week, and I have always wanted to record my mixes for people who are not able to hear them. I use a Numark mixdeck, and have an RCA to 1/8th cord that i was able to use on my old toshiba laptop to record (only in mono). I tried the same thing with the macbook, but found there was no external mic port to use, so i tried the headphone port, only to find it wont recognize its an input not output. I looked on sites to find a fix where I would be able to change the option of output/input in the sound preferences, however, that does not exsist on my model. So now is my dilemma. Does apple make some kind of cord (thunderbolt perhaps?) that will help see the external input? I was hoping not to buy an external soundcard that would use a USB port to record. Hope you guys can help!

here is the output screen from computer
this is output from virtual dj
maybe the problem is that im using a yellow/white/red RCA instead of just a red/white?

  • Recording sound on Macbook Pro

    HI,
I am a Dj who has recently bought a Macbook Pro. I have setup my dj software and find it excellent but i'm struggling to find a way to record my sets on the Macbook. I have 2 USB ports but use them both when dj'ing and it also has the Thunderbolt and Firewire ports which i'm unsure about. Can I use either Thunderbolt and Firewire ports to record onto Garageband directly from an RCA output?
Any help would be much appreciated!

    Some FireWire audio equipment:

... there's hundreds (thousands?) of FireWire audio kits out there. I don't know of any ThunderBolt ones, though.

  • Recording music with MacBook Pro

    Hello,
Im upgrading but I am unsure whether MacBook Pro will suit my needs.
I want to be able to record up to 16 channels via a firewire audio interface simultaneously into Logic Pro.
I currently use an old iBook G4 with a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 audio interface but the iBook struggles to record up to 8 channels simultaneously. Im guessing this is because of processing power?
Does anybody know whether MacBook Pro will be suitable?
Does anybody use there MacBook Pro for recording music?
    Cheers,
    Liam

I have used my 15" Pro for recording music into soundtrack for some minor stuff but it records just beautifully. I would make sure that you get a Pro that is clocked in at a high processing speed. I would liked to have gotten the 17" since that model also has the extra graphics card (not that you need it for sound). Also make sure that the model you do choose has the right about of pins for the firewire. I believe they have changed since the Macbook models.

  • I have imported a Digital recording onto my Macbook Pro 10.6 and want to burn it to disc on Itunes but the file has gone to Quicktime. How do I transfer it?

I have imported a digital recording on to my MacBook Pro 10.6. I want to move it to Itunes so that I can burn a CD but although I have created a new playlist, Itunes won't accept the file and instead it has gone to Quicktime and I can't transfer it or burn a CD. I have installed a Flip4Mac Upgrade but still no luck. I have managed to transfer previous files and burn CDs before so am not sure what the problem is.

This file type is not supported by iTunes. I would recommend converting the file (I use convertfiles.com, but there are many choices) to MP3. It then can be added to iTunes.

  • Recording direct to macbook air

    Hi,
Is there any way to record direct to a macbook air from a video camera.
I've been recording direct to an old powerbook g4 from a canon xl2 for years and recently bought a macbook air.
When I tried the usual set up via an external hard drive I couldn't manage to do it.

Only standard definition can be captured live, and the only SD Final Cut Express does is DV, and you can only capture DV through a FireWire connection. Your computer doesn't have one.

  • Use remote to record audio on macbook

I need to record audio to my 15" Macbook Pro (2010). I will be using Mic In / Line In jack to record audio. (Audio is coming from a mixer, which will have wireless mic connected).
I just want to know, is there anyway I can use Macbook remote to start / stop audio recording?
I am thinking of using Garageband to record audio, because it seems to be good enough quality - but I can switch to another app if it allows me to start / stop through Apple Remote - OR - through my iPhone 4S?

That's a tough one to answer without more information. Does it have drivers that you can install to make it recognized by the computer? If you plug it in via firewire and your Mac recognizes it as a camera, but it does not show up as an audio device Logic, my guess would be that yoiu can't use it as an audio device.
Does it say anything about that in the manual? Does it show up as an audio device when you select Sound from your Mac's System Prefs?

  • Help recording video with macbook

Hi, I recently purchased a macbook with a built in isight. I have a youtube channel and am trying to record a video of me singing using my macbook as so many other people do. But when I go into imovie and click record with isight there is no sound, And when I try to do a magic movie it is always searching for a camera. Please help! All I wan't to do is play my instrumental track in the background and sing to it while recording. Thanks

    Hi
Did You look into the System pref and the icon Sound ?
Here You select Sound-in. Does it read from Mac internal microphonee or external
in one way or the other ?
    • Go up Left hand corner "Apple" down to System Preferences
    • Select Sound
    • Select Sound input

  • Record screencast on macbook

I have reflector, which shows my ipad on my macbook scree. It is an auiod book that my students created. I was told I could do control r to record the audio and screen in order to put it on you tube. Control r does not work. Any suggestions?

I think if you press Command + R you can start recording, not Control + R.  Or, go to the Device menu and select "Start Recording."

  • Audio Recording/Production | Can MacBook Handle It?

Can the MacBook hold it's own in programs such as "Garage Band" and "Logic Express?"
For whatever it's worth, I'd be recording acoustic instruments, as opposed to synths and sampled loops and crazy processor intensive effects, etc... I'm really just looking for a machine for a budget concsious college student, that will allow me to attach a quality mic, record a guitar, vocals, perhaps a few other tracks, and be able to mix/edit without things grinding to a halt.
With sufficient RAM, would you suppose a MacBook would be able to handle this? I really don't need a MacBook Pro as far as graphics are concerned, so I'd be ecstatic to hear that the MacBook can handle audio like a beast.
I know a lot of people use iMacs for audio production, but the idea of taking a laptop and guitar on a little recording trip just sounds too appealing to pass up.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Brad

  • Recording audio on macbook

Anyone tried any multi-track recording/editing yet on thier macbook? I am sure that the intel 1.83ghz macbook will blow my PPC imac g5 away but I am just curious. Any thoughts?

    Oh yeah I totally have
Logic + Motu traveler + macbook = awesome
    I love it
you can load so many tracks and virtual instruments etc and barely phase the processor
It works well and the new Reason universal is smoking on the Macbook
PS Not publicised but the audio on the macbook is the audio on the Intel board which is supposedly HD - it does get 96K sample rates and has optical IO and it sounds super good for a built in.
    enjoy
