Record - Video Games?

is it possible to use my macbook to record video game matches from my PS3. I play a competetiv fighting game and it would be great to be able to review my matches to help myself learn. Anyone know what I would need to make this work?

I've been using it for years to record what I view on my Mac.

I'm unclear about what you're asking - could you be a little clearer? I know you say that you want to "record video games" but I'm not sure if you're asking if you could, for instance, create a movie of video games as they're being played or what.

  • Recording videos/games from VGA to VCR

    Hi there,
I'd tried to record some videos from my pc to a vcr using tv-out but the image was completely strange... colors blinking...
I thought that this problem was occurring only with videos but I tried to record NEED FOR SPEED UNDERGROUND images while playing and everything else on my computer, even the desktop screen.
Configuration: vga tv-out plugged in vcr video-in (RCA) and vcr plugged in tv through coaxial cable.
The image goes fine on tv, the problem only occurs when I try to record, and I tried SP and EP configurations of my vcr and still nothing.
I need to copy some personal digital videos to a vhs...
     ???-)Can anybody help me please????????????
    Thanx a lot.

    Hi,
The problem might be the colour format you are ysing.
According to this list Brazil uses a unique system called PAL-M, which uses a Colour Subcarrier Frequency of 3.575611MHz, compared with the standard PAL frequency of 4.43361875MHz, or NTSC's 3.579545MHz.
Now, it's possible that your TV can cope with multiple standards, and so will work with whatever standard you are using at the moment. (The VCR will just pass the incoming signal to the output, without processing it to any great extent.)
When you try and record your PC output, the VCR has to be able to decode the colour information, so if it doesn't like the format, it won't record colour.
[Background note: The colour information is used to modulate a signal at the colour subcarrier frequency - so for PAL-M you get a signal which is mainly 3.57MHz. A VHS VCR can't actually record such a high frequency signal (limit is around 1.7MHz I think), so the VCR has to decode the colour signal and remodulate it on to a lower frequency carrier (around 700kHz) that can be recorded on the tape. (This is called "colour under"). On playback, the VCR retrieves the colour information and re-modulates it on the required colour subcarrier frequency. Some VCRs even give you the option of playing back a PAL recording with NTSC colour component (or vice versa). ]
Anyway, the short answer is, try changing either the PC's video output format to suit the VCR, or see if you can tell the VCR to record the format the PC puts out.
    When all else fails, ....
    Hope this helps,
    Mike

  • Recording Video on the Imac

Hey guys. I am 14 years old and have a passion for Video editing and movie makeing. Currently i am using my IMac to make videos for my schools Morning announcement program. What i was wondering is if it is possible to record what is going on on the computer screen (for example record video of World of Warcraft). Also if it is possible to record directly onto the computer from an outside source, for example a Xbox. (i figured that recording these would give me something fun to mess with and work on my skills without having to have a bunch of my friends come over and act for me)

Chuckarthy, Welcome to the discussion area!
Snapz Pro X is the premier utility for capturing activity on the screen.
...for example record video of World of Warcraft...
Most games override any thing else and won't allow you to capture screen shots.
Also if it is possible to record directly onto the computer from an outside source, for example a Xbox.
If your mini-DV camcorder has digital pass through, you can pipe the video from the Xbox into your mini-DV camcorder and out via Firewire to iMovie on your iMac.

  • Echoing Audio in Recorded Videos

    Product name and number:

Hi, I don't know if anyone else has had this problem or not, but when I record videos using the webcam, the audio comes out sounding... almost echo-y? I'm not sure how to describe it, but it sounds like another voice is speaking in sync with mine...
Very weird. I was wondering, is there any way to adjust that? Is it just my laptop that's doing this? I'd appreciate it if you helped me out, considering I plan on using my webcam a lot. Thank you! -- Btw, I haven't messed with any settings and this only happens on recorded videos that I've recorded from the webcam using YouCam. I don't use an external mic and everything else with my webcam is working properly.

    Hey rainal17,
I'm sorry you're having an issue with your mic. Thanks for providing your model name and product number. Could you also check your current audio driver version. If your version is outdated, I'll provide you a link to the latest version.
On Windows 8: Press Windows Key  + Q to bring up the Search Bar > Type "device" > Click Settings under the Search Bar > Click Device Manger in the results on the left.
In Device Manager > Expand Sound, video and game controllers > Double-click on the Realtek line > Click on the Driver tab and make note of the driver version number and post it in your reply.
Also, let me know which BIOS version you have. Press FN + ESC to get the 'F.##' version number.
Is this your first time testing your mic? Has it always had this echoing effect?

  • Completing Xbox 360 Video game Screenshots and Playing

Can someone point in the direction of how I can connect my MacBook to my Xbox 360/Televison in order make screenshots from my Xbox 360 video game playing. I will not be playing Xbox 360 video games on my computer but is there a way to complete screenshots?

I found these two videos and was thinking about getting the Slingbox to accomplish this task; has anyone else done this procedure.
I did download Connect360 but it seems to work only one way; allowing items on my MacBook to be played through the Xbox 360 (but not the reverse).

  • Record video of app

I want to add a feature to my app that allows me to let the user record a video of what they are doing on the screen and save it to the cameraroll.  Similar to how camtasia works but for ios and only recording my app.  Doesn't seem like a good air solution exists but wondering if there is a native extension.  Possibly something like https://developers.everyplay.com/ but native extension.

This is super memory intensive not only will you be running the app which must be an intense app to start with if you want to record video instead of just doings screen captures but also to record and store it at the same time, this slows down quality PCs it will probably kill a mobile device. Maybe you can record user movements through code and then store all sorts of coordiantes and be able to recreate what they did in that way, kind of like racing games "record" replays.

  • GLC: Recorded video has red and green flashes

I tried Googling for a solution but GLC appears to be such an obscure program that none of the results are even related
I finally got GLC working mostly correctly on Arch64. It records my game in Wine, but when I play back the video it has a red or green "flash" every few seconds that is really disruptive. I know glc-capture has a bunch of options, but I'm not sure what most of them do so I was hoping somebody knew how to fix this problem without me trying different combinations of options until something hopefully works.

Alright I've done some more playing around with it but I don't think I'm any closer to a solution.
I've tried pretty much every command line switch to GLC that I think could have any effect at all but nothing changes. The game in question I'm trying to record is EVE Online. The intensity of the flashes seems to vary throughout the recording, here's what I can gather:
    - No flashes at all during the login screen (which does have a bunch of 3D rendering, it's not just a flat text box or anything)
    - Moderate flashes when flying in space, primarily when I try to pan the camera
    - Video goes to complete garbage when I dock in a station. Not a single frame from inside the station is output to the video, it just loops the last in-space frames with lots of colors and other garbage obscuring the screen
I can upload a video if anyone thinks it would help. I'd really like to get this working, GLC appears to be the only program under Linux that can be used to record games. It seems like I'm so close to a solution yet so far away.

  • Recorded Videos after Sync: The requested URL was not found on this server.

A few days ago, i recorded a couple of videos. They were saved properly and i could watch them after it in the Camera Roll of my iPhone. Because my memory was almost full, i connected my iPhone to my MacBook and synchronized about 900 old pictures with iPhoto and selected to delete the pictures after the sync. I did not select the recently recorded videos.
After the sync, i opened the Camera Roll on my iPhone and tried to watch the videos again. But now, they all have a grey icon and it says the duration is 0:00 minutes. When i click on a video, it shows me the following error message:
The requested URL was not found on this server.
When i connect my iPhone to iTunes, it says that there is about 350 MB of "Documents and Data" on my phone that I have no idea where it is coming from. Do you think it is possible that the videos are still saved on my phone but my phone doesn't recognize it as videos and can't assign it to the icons in the Camera Roll? Do you have any tips how I can access the videos in case they are still saved somewhere on my iPhone?
Thank you very much in advance for your help and tips!

I have the same problem too!! I was deleting some photos and videos in my phone when the next picture I swiped to was a blank picture with JPG in the middle~ after I closed camera roll and reopened it my photos and videos after that picture are all gone~ and I'm left with 3 videos I took about 30 mins before with 0:00 and when I tried to play them the message popped up saying "requested URL cannot be found on this server" T^T does anyone have a solution to this problem?

  • Can't type anything if i'm in a video game

Hello, since yesterday I have a really big issue, when I try to type something on skype while a video game is running in the background, it just doesnt work. There's a sort of huge latency that happens only on skype, others softwares such as firefox or steam aren't affected and work well.
Skype works perfectly when no game is running, same when I'm running little games such as counter strike source or Minecraft. It starts bugging when I play games with huge graphics (heroes of the storm or marvel heroes).
I really have no idea what to do about it, this problem is really weird because it happened for no reason (I didnt download anything), the games works extremly smoothly so there's no reason for skype to slow down (only 3,5go out of my 8go of ram is used and only 30% of the CPU is used when I play so it's not struggling). And i've tried everything, cleaning the hard disk, reinstal windows... But nothing works :/
So basically, I can't type messages when I'm playing video games because skype decides to slow down for a really unknow reason... If any of you had the same trouble, could you tell me what's going on, please
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi there, im also having this problem, i tried running most of the games on my system, and some that are considered "high end" games, are giving me the exact same problem, but other games are running and im able to message fine, i also got some friends to send me messages, and i can recieve messages perfectly, also i noticed moving the actual window around on the screen or just closing down skype also lags. I have 16GB of ram and 4.4Ghz Octa-Core CPU, i checked my load while on the high end games and it there was more than enough hardware usage left like normal for skype to run, and skype wasnt taking any extra up than before. I also checked by bandwidth and i was having no problems with that as skype would lag even on offline games.
I have tried re-installing under a different directory and still the same problem persists, this has only been a problem within the last 24hrs and i haven't installed any other programs that could affect this at the moment.
*UPDATE* I tried downgrading to an older version of skype, 6.3.0.107. Problem Still persists

  • Recording Videos

I am having trouble recording video from really anything (tv, dvd player, vcr, etc). I have a friend who is using a MAC and a box called a Miglia Director's cut (http://www.miglia.com/products/video/director2/)
all he does is hook up the director's cut to the tv w/regular composite cables and it hooks to the MAC with a firewire. So then to record something off the tv all he does is open quicktime player, go to file and click record movie. Now i have tried to do the same exact thing, only im using windows and the option is not available to select "new movie recording" only "new audio"? i have found this little bit on the Support section of apple.com (http://helpqt.apple.com/qthelpwr3/english/QuickTimeHelp/pgs2/qtFmSet3.htm)
and it does say a MAC can record video but doesnt say anything about a windows machine. is there something im doing wrong or can you not use quicktime 7 pro to record movies on a windows machine??? Please help

  • Recording Video to SD - 4GB Limit?

I've encountered a bug with the video camera on the Z10.  I'm using what I assume is the latest version of the software that was pushed out recently (10.2.1.2102).
I was recording video and after half an hour or so I received an error message stating there was an error saving the video.  When I checked on the SD card I can see the file with the correct date/time and file extension however the file doesn't open.  I notice the file is 4GB which is the file size limit on FAT32, so it appears that the camera doesn't automatically stop recroding and write the mp4 info, or start a new file, when it nears this limit on SD cards.
1 - can this be fixed?
2- is there any way of recovering the video?  The footage I have isn't really replacable.  I've tried VLC and mp4box with no luck.
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forums.
VLC would have been my first suggestion, there are a number of other MP4 web sites and apps out there I suggest you keep trying.

Change the selection and try again."
Ive even tried opening in itunes and copying from thier but they wont open in Itunes, no message or anything they simple just dont open. its strange because it does open in quicktime player.
please if anyone has any ideas that can help me please let me know XD thanks.

First problem: You're fine. The hotter it gets, the more the fans spin up. The computer is designed so that at max load, at max fan speed, it won't overheat (unless it's obstructed by something, e.g. sitting on your bed swallowed by a comforter). It's not the best thing to keep it that toasty for days at a time, but a couple hours at a time shouldn't be a problem.
Second problem: If something in the trash won't delete, just use Secure Empty Trash and it should be fine. Since .torrent files are quite small, it should only take a couple seconds.

  • I am after using my ipad for 2-3 hours to record video, it will be while traveling so I could do with being able to set it up so it just records while I drive. Is this possible?

Hello as stated I wondered if there is an app that I could use to record a journey that I will make, it will take aprox 3 hours I can charge my ipad up as I go so battery life is not a problem and I have quite a bit of room on my I pad. Is it possible?

Sure why not. The camera app will record videos and there are car chargers for the iPad that you can purchase. You will need some sort of stand to place the iPad into, but those are available as well. You might need to adapt the out of the box car stands to face in the direction that you want, but there are lots of them out there.
You should set the iPad to not go to sleep in Settings>General>Auto Lock>Never until you are done recording.

I want to be able to use airplay to stream audio to another iOS device, and then use that audio stream to be used when recording video instead of the built in microphone / microphone input. Is this possible?

A third-party app probably cannot obtain a stream from another app. To the best of my knowledge, such a capability is not provided in the software development kit, apps being "sandboxed" from each other and so allowed to communicate only in very specific and limited ways.
I'm not completely sure what you mean by "limitations on video capture". An iPhone, to the best of my knowledge, can natively record video only through it's built-in camera, and audio while doing video recording only through the built-in microphone or mic/headphone jack. There might be a video recording app that would allow audio input from an external device connected to the dock connector, but I'm not sure.
