Recorded slides. Can they be edited?
Howdy
I know recorded slides with full motion capture can be edited. I recorded with AUTOMATIC recording which seems to capture the background and mouse clicks and typing can be edited. occasionally, the mouse clicks are out of sync with the rest of the slide. Can the slide video be edited or accessed? I made the recording and can't re record it.

Are you referring to Video Demo or Full Motion Recording because you mentioned Slide Video? In both cases mouse cannot be edited alone. I'm wondering why you would be getting the sync issue. Can you share that project with me at [email protected]?

I am just new to Adobe Captivate - before I used another program.
Now I am wondering if there is no way to edit the recorded slide.
1. When I use the timeline I can find no way to mark a part of the slide at cut it away from the timeline.
2. I am wondering that when I pause the timeline - the red line stops on the right place, but the the video is showing the first image again.
When I record my slide there are some popup windows I have to move to the right place for making the slide look good. The time I use to move the popup window I want to cut out.

From what you posted it would seem you recorded your movie using Full Motion (FMV) recording mode. Ouch!
When you record using FMV, it is very similar to the old 8MM movies from years ago. If you filmed a room full of relatives and there was an ugly chair in the room, you would not be able to edit the movie so it mostly remained the same but the chair was gone. This sounds like what you are wanting to do.
With a FMV all Captivate will allow you to do is to split the recording or append (splice) other recording bits. If you are wondering where this capability is, it's in a different editor that's not all that simple to find. Basically you need to locate the clip in the Library. This is pretty easy to do. Just right-click the clip in the Captivate editor and choose Find in Library. This should highlight the clip. Now in the Library, right-click the clip and choose Edit. This should open the FMR Editor.
You would be well advised to ignore that FMV exists with Captivate. Seldom will you achieve a desirable result. Captivate works best in the Slide By Slide recording mode. We hope to see FMV "get there" and be on par with TechSmith's Camtasia Studio at some future point. Unfortunately, that point is likely to be a couple or three versions away.
If I have something requiring FMV, I use Camtasia and output that as a SWF that I insert into Captivate. You can get some really good stuff that way.

Garage Band, I am using an MBOX with a digi design audio core as a mic interface to recod into Garage Band. Now when I Change the preferences to use the MBOX I can not move the recorder slider and there is no sound going into garage band? Any solutions
10.5.8 with latest garageband 5.1 with MBOX 1. On Nov 4.09 I did a software update, now i get no output volume or input volume to the computer itself. I get it from head phones from my mbox, but not to the computer. Before the software update It worked great. I've tried upgrading software through digidesign .com, but they dont seem to have one for what i need. any way to get my old garage band back? go from 5.1 to earlier? Or maybe it was the upgrade to 10.5.8. update? Can i go back in time lol?
Any help would be appreciated

Ive tried all the system sound prefs, and garage band drivers. Back and forth.

I have a new Sony alpha 77ii. My PS version is 5.0. When I open the files with Bridge they are .ARW files. How do I convert them to JPEG's or something I can view and edit?
You can use Adobe's free DNG converter to convert proprietary raws to the universal DNG raw format. Here are the links:

I was working with iPhoto downloading pictures and it quit unexpectedly and i lost a bunch of pictures what do i do can they be recovered some where on my computer?? Please can someone help it took me 12 hours just today not counting yesterday between scanning & transferring with a flash drive then dating old family slides in my iphoto. I lost alot

Do you mean importing photos? If so what were you importing from? If it is a flash drive why not just re-import from it? Where did you scan them?
As to backups - you really need to always have your backup running - without good backups you will lose all photos sooner or later

Can we translate in captivate 7? I Have tried and changed the Caption and Notes. Can we change the on screen text of te normal slides, interactive call out boxes, screen recording slides and quizzes? If yes, please let me know the process.

For the record, I did create a new project with only two slides to try and duplicate the issue. I had the same problem. I unchecked the Mouse Click Sound check box, republished and the slide auto advanced. I'm wondering if a default sound file was somehow moved or deleted? I discussed uninstalling and reinstalling C7 onto my laptop, but that's a frustrating solution haha -

My planned workflow is as follows:
Footage recorded on Canon Rebel T3i ---> Edited on Final Cut Pro 6 (sequence compression is apparently H.264 according to the browser) ---> Compressed with Compressor (ver 3.0.5) in original 1920 x 1080, 24p format ---> Uploaded to Vimeo
I am now at the point where I am trying to find a Compressor setting that will create a compressed movie that looks somewhat similar to what I see in the canvas in Final Cut Pro 6. I have tried using the H.264, Apple ProRes 422(HQ), HD Uncompressed 8-bit, and XDCAM HD 1080p24 settings and in all cases, my movie plays back fine, however, the brightness/exposure seems to be hiked up a few stops and there is a substantial amount of noise in both the blacks and midtones that doesn't appear in FCP's canvas.
My compressed movie I wish to export is only intended for Vimeo (similar to Youtube). Is there a different setting I should be trying, or perhaps a way of downloading a more effective or current codec?? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated as it is very disappointing to see my movie degraded so much from its orginal quality.
Shaun MH.264. But the FCP Legacy (FCP 7 and earlier) Canvas and Viewer aren't color accurate. Not designed to be. Their purpose is to show you what you are doing, show you the footage so you can make editing decisions. For color accuracy, the ideal way, since this was designed with television and feature editing in mind, is to have an IO device like those AJA.com and DECKLINK.com make, and send the signal to an HDTV or broadcast monitor.
Apple has realized that more and more people are editing for the web and computers only, so they made it so that FCX's viewer IS color accurate. So...what that means is that currently, using what you have, you won't get things to match....they aren't designed to. So you can adjust for what happens when you export.
But a big issue is that you are editing H.264 in FCP native. FCP doesn't work with H.264 native well, all sorts of potential issues can arise. Sync issues, quality issues, the correct shot be exported, all sorts of things. FCP works best with the FCP editing codecs. What are they? They are found in the EASY SETUP list. But for HD, the most commonly used option is ProRes 422. There is a BIG problem that FCP Legacy will SEEM like it'll work with H.264 natively just fine...it doens't throw up any warnings. That is bad. Also something Apple fixed with FCX.
The fact that you are editing H.264, and trying to export H.264, might also lead to the footage being more off that it would if you edited ProREs 422, and exported H.264. Note...H.264 is a higher data rate codec, and easier for FCP to work with...but because it has a higher data rate, the file sizes are much higher than the original H.264. 5-6x larger. FCP 7 did have a way to import Canon 5D, 7D and T2i (needed a hack with the T2i) via Log and Transfer. But it doesn't work with the T3i...not even with that hack. Because FCP 7 was no longer updated after the T3i came out. It's 4 year old software, discontinued 2 years ago.
If you want to edit native, you need to look at Adobe Premiere Pro CC. It's interface is more accurate too. -
Do different recorded slide resolutions cause an imported FLV Video to Play incorrectly?
I’ve been working on a project involving many captivate files with flv videos inserted into slides I made the slides in Photoshop, I had the same type of project last year with the same client and had similar problems with the flv videos just not running or not running correctly, sometimes cutting off early. This time using Captivate 4 I’m having problems with the videos playing through fine but then stopping and not continuing onto the next slide. To even further complicate this sometimes in preview the video will play and then advance to the next slide and then after publishing the files and playing them they stop advancing and you have to select the play button to continue the presentation.
The setup for these video slides:
Edit the video in avid and export to After Effects.
Process the video in AE adding titles, keying, and exporting using render cue to FLV files
Process and Import the Photoshop slide into Captivate
Set the properties of the PS slide to; on slide enter; continue, on slide exit; advance to next slide.
Import the flv video at 640x480, skin = none, auto play auto rewind, Options = rest of slide, pause slide till end of video.
What I think I found and at least it is working again is, during the recording session with the various business managers while demonstrating their applications they would sometime resize their screens, so instead of recording at 1024x768 they would stop recording and change their screen resolution to 1032x774, to complicate this even further they were all operating their software applications using remote desktops.
I finally imported the slides into Captivate that were recorded at 1032x774 and resized them to 1024x768 during import and kept my resolution the same throughout the problem was resolved and the project played fine so far. The biggest problem I had was with a slide that fell between two slie sizes even though Captivate resized the slides on import and I resized the slide for the project resolution the Video FLV movie slide would play and then stop. I hope I’m making sense with this and I apologize if I’m not.
Is a recorded constant screen resolution critical when editing a captivate presentation and if so why? Is there a way to correct a slide problem in hypertext to force a slide to advance, and if so what program would accomplish this. Thanks in advance.Hi there

Mac powerpoint 2011. Can't I edit sound effects? The slides won't move as I have ordered them because the sound effect lasts longer. Previously (in Office) I have been able to trim the size. This throws off the entire presentation. Any ideas?
If you're still looking for the iLife Sound Effects, they've been moved. In fact, they're downright impossible to find unless you know where they've been hidden.
They're now stored inside the iMovie app itself. To access the files, go to the Applications folder and right-click on the iMovie app icon. Select "Show Package Contents", twirl open "Resources" and scroll down. You should find sound files in three folders: iLife Sound Effects, iMovie Sound Effects, and iMovie Theme Music. I recommend that you NOT move any files out of these folders, but simply copy them to a new location.

CP6, Recording slide...closed captions?
I've created my slides using the Insert Recording Slide function and included narration so I don't have to record the audio separately. Then I edit the slides in the Edit Video Demo screen...makes it awkward with not being able to see the audio, but I think I can work with it. However, I now have the problem of closed captions. With no separate audio file, how do I add closed captions? I can't find it anywhere.
I did find in the Library the audio file that was recorded along with the video file. I could, conceivably, import that audio file to the timeline and add captions from there. But then I can't trim the video and audio together (thus costing more editing time with trying to sync my edits). What am I missing?Thanks for the info. So, my workaround at the moment is to export the audio from the video file, then import those audio files (it's usually more than one after I've done my trimming) into the slide itself, add the captions to that audio, and since I can't find how to mute the video file, I instead turn the volume way down on the imported audio files on the slide. The slide audio runs the CC, and the video/audio actually plays the sound. It's sync'd already, since I don't export/import until I've done all of my editing.
So will this be okay, or could there be an unforeseen problem with my swf project later? I have no way to test my swf project until it's imported by my publisher onto their servers... -

I no longer have the edit marks at the time line for videos. I checked and it still says Pro. I tried to remove the Quicktime preference files from my library folder and even un-registered the PRO serial number then re-registered it. I also downloaded the newest update/version and installed. Still nothing! If I record a new video using built-in isight, I can see the edit marks on the timeline for it.
What's wrong here? I tried a .mov and a .mpghttp://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html

I can no longer edit the info for my songs, movies and tv shows. This occurred since I loaded Windows 7 Pro on my C drive, and then fownloaded ITunes 10. Why will the program not allow me to access the track info to edit it?
Ah yes school boy error there out of frustration and discontent..
My issue is with music/apps/films etc not downloading from iTunes / App Store.
They initially fail and message is displayed stating unable to download / purchase at this time, yet if I retry it says I've already purchased (?) or alternatively I go to the purchased section and there they are waiting with the cloud symbol..
However some items get frozen in the download window and cannot be retried or deleted. Message appears stating to tap to retry, but even if you stole every bath and sink in the uk you'd still not have enough taps.
I post here as the iTunes guys are useless in there 'help' and have only advised posting here or phoning apple, at my expense, to explain a problem that could be rectified by forwarding my original email to a techie. However the tech team apparently don't have an email address as they're from ye olde Middle Ages..!
Anyways I digress.
So I tried sync to pc, but instead of showing the file as ready to listen/use/view, the iCloud symbol shows and I'm back to square one as the item is unable to download..
At frustration station waiting for a train from pain...
All my software is up to date, and had all worked fine prior to the last big iOS update that resulted in all the changes in display and dismay.

I'm trying to look at my past photos in my camera roll but all that's there is a block and when I try to click on it the photo says "Loading" but nothing ever shows up. I can't click edit or anything. When I plug my phone in to my computer and open the photo folder they're not even there. It's like I never took these photos

Your add-ons list shows AVG, ZoneAlarm, and McAfee products. Could one of them be blocking this site? See whether you can add exceptions or just disable them temporarily and test whether that helps.
